Buying new gear is just part of the hobby :)
Looks like a nice camera, and I could use the upgrade. Just got to decide if I'm going to go for a mirrorless or another dedicated astro camera. I should just buy both, lol.

Good video on this camera. I really like the more advanced features of the a6700 in the focusing department, like bug-eye focus. But if you don't need that, the A74 is fantastic. When the A74 gets the AI chip, if such a thing happens, the A7R5 and A7CR, and a6700, along with the ZV-E1 are superior cameras. Technology never leaves us alone. There is always something new, and once in a great while, that one new thing makes all the difference in the world. That is the improved focus of the new cameras. I suspect a ZV-E10 mk. 2 will be a major leap forward with many features of the A7R5 and a6700. If only it makes an appearance.
One thing nice about the A7R5 is the ability to reduce the files sizes of video in the menu.

a7iv is coming up on being 2 years old now i preordered mine in early Jan i finally got it in Feb I've had plenty of time to use it. its video quality is just awesome. the 8-2-2 10-bit and its HD are just a pleasure to use compared to my zv-e10 wish the zv had focus mapping, but I see no reason to upgrade for a while... a great video btw nice to see a confident lady using her equipment.. God Bless

I also have a zv-e10 and I am planning on buying the a7iv. Do you think it’s worth the upgrade ? I mainly do photography btw.

Between the A7iv and the A6700, which would you go in for especially coming from the Zv -E10?

Great video! I also was getting tired of cables and dealing with L brackets so i had to say goodbye to my old Rode video mic and purchased the new Sony ECM-M1 and its been stress free so far!

Interesting!!! I am not quite sure what I'm going to do... for now I guess just have a ridiculously wide L-bracket lol! Thanks for watching, Juan!

how did you realize that you needed a full frame instead of the apsc ?

I do a TON of astrophotography! ASPC cameras are awesome, but for astro having the larger sensor is key!

r6ii has faster sensor readout speed, higher fps and preshooting function, which can benefit for bird shooting, well the eye tracking probably better too.

Love to see you shoot with a Nikon FE2 or F2 with motor drives instead of the digital cameras. You will be tested to the max. Timing, framing and focusing will be paramount. Everyone who loves photography should shoot film cameras once in a while to sharpen their skills. Even with my digital cameras, I shoot like I am using a film camera. One shot at the right time to get a perfect picture. It's a skill. Using a digital camera firing off a burst is not really a skill, it's like using a shotgun to shoot a bird out of the sky. You will appreciate digital cameras more if you learn how to shoot film. I did for 30 or so years before going digital.

    Great video! Earned a Subscription.
Strictly for photography: how do you choose which body to use (A7IV vs A7RIV)? Any feedback on user experience and image quality welcomed.

Appreciate the sub, Carlos! I usually grab my A7iv for everyday shooting, bird photography, and leisure travel. The A7riv I use for Astro, photography specific trips (where I think I might want to print or sell images) etc. hope that helps!

@@mallorydavisphotography Can’t you use the A7iv to print and sell ?

They need to start making L-brackets that are meant to stay on the tripod rather than the camera. Rather than have a quick-release plate on the bottom and side of the camera, have a quick-release socket/mount (whatever they call it) on both the bottom and side of the L mounted on the camera. Or make a flip up mechanism that stays on the tripod while keeping the camera centered over the pivot point of the tripod.
I know they make those weird things that go around the lens, but those are a pain and don't work for all lenses.

Agreed! Or better yet… just make the camera body itself arca Swiss compatible!!! Glad I’m not the only one that feels this way lol

Give the SmallRig 4244 sony rotatable mount (or the Atoll) a try. At $75, its not going to set you back an arm and a leg like an RRS item. Totally frees your screen and cables.
