I feel like Drapion's entry about being afraid of Hippowdon makes even more sense when you consider that, as a Poison/Dark type, it's only weak to Ground.
Plot twist:dra pion is actually scared of the dwebble in the hippowdon
Same thing I said lol. It's pretty cool because it shows Pokemon know even their own weaknesses & don't wanna get KO'd/die.
Fighting?
@@Coconut_Prrson Drapion isn't weak to Fighting because it's part Poison type, which resists Fighting.
Doubt it wants to get bit by one either.
Shield Pokedex: "Golurk may contain a perpetual motion device."
Chairman Rose: "Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....."
That would have solved the entire plot of the game, jeez.
@@ciphymasterofmedia9104 Victini could have also solved the game's plot, I heard somewhere that it creates infinite energy!

Intresting.... 😏
My theory: The sword which makes up Aegislash’s body was once the king’s sword. The king killed an enemy in cold blood, maybe that enemy was the previous ruler. Then the enemy’s soul united with the sword, to kill the traitor...
Cool
Umbreon Gengar this needs to be seen
The new MatPat be like
Ok no joke... that is an AMAZING theory
Or he couldn't live with his own guilt and lost himself because of all the people that fell to the blade of the sword so he took his own life
Fun fact: In Toxapex's pokedex entry, it talks about how Galar has very cold water. Galar also seems to be a cold region in general, most trainers that are mostly found outside wear clothing better fitted for warm weather (other than the swimmers, but those people are just mentally insane). Galar, in general, is a cold region, thus how so many Ice Types can be found, also explains why there is multiple snowy routes. It could also be a reason for the unpredictable weather in the Wild Area. It can also explain how Darumaka, a pokemon whose feces was literally used as a portable heat source, became an ice type in Galar, due to the intense lack of hot weather (Other than Route 6 and, I assume, the first half of Route 8).
Edit: Also, I just noticed something. So you know how depending on the story of events, you get Zacian/Zamazenta, and Hop, your main rival and best friend, gets the other one.
Zacian and Zamazenta being sisters- You and Hop has a sibling like friendship, shown how they just enter your house at any time, your mother being perfectly okay with it
Zacian and Zamazenta being rivals - You and Hop are considered great rivals. Hop even calls himself your greatest rival. Your even considered his "first rival". Almost the whole journey, or wasnt about becoming to champion, it was about participating in the gym challenge together, constantly testing each other's strength after making progress, assisting each other when facing trouble.
Zacian and Zamzenta represent you, the player, and Hop!
Galar is cold because it’s based off of England
The part about zacian and zamazenta is actually really cool! I would’ve never thought of it like that but I like it a lot
Fairly certain zamazenta is Zack and younger brother not sister
I mean it is based of England it it is quite cold here
Wow I absolutely love this theory
Fun fact: Corvisquire’s Dex entry references real life crows, which are smart enough to make and use tools!
Cylasbreakdown damn beat me to it
Cylasbreakdown true, ture. Corviknight are super intelligent too, hence the flying taxi mechanic.
Dang it, I was about to mention that
Not simply crows, but the entirety of the Corvid family! Rooks, Ravens. Jays. And Magpies!

Corvisquire can’t learn rock throw.

My guess to the farfected is because the leek is tied to its fighting spirit. It probably takes a bite after battle/training and the leek grows back due to its energy. When it’s fighting spirit has wilted after a lifetime of battle, the blade will have also wilted. Thus bitting it won’t let grow back but I doubt it would eat a dying/dead leek. Like a rusty sword, it probably lays it to rest, with the sword going back into the earth. Ashes to ashes. Dust to dust…
Wow
So like the 3 critical hits you made is like a fighting spiritual bonding spell? I like your idea!
Too far-fetched, imo. I think the leek is more of food for humans and not for Sirfetch'd. For the Pokemon, it's merely a weapon.

Alolan Ninetales' Pokedex entry kinda makes sense.
In Pokemon Unite, Ninetales has a costume called Shrine Style, which is a winter kimono. And shrines are places where people go to pray for blessings or good luck.
This also makes sense if you take the "Origin" section of Alolan Ninetales from the Bulbapedia:
"Its mountain habitat and lore as a deity incarnation may be a reference to Poliʻahu, the Hawaiian goddess of snow who is said to reside on Mauna Kea."
So that pretty much explains why Alolan Ninetales was worshiped.
it also is a throw to inari, the one who is assosiated with kitsune yokai which ninetales is based on. kitsunes were messengers for inari and soon are worshipped as their own gods now!
"You can't cut the ocean" - Tell that to Caligula when he ordered his men to stab the English Channel.

They made it on purpose. And I love them for it.
12:47 "This is interesting to me, because I just kind of assumed that regional variants of different kinds would get along, because they're still the same species." Well, first off, no, they are *not* the same species. That's like calling a grizzly bear and a polar bear the same species. Secondly, even Pokemon that *are* the same species, canonically don't always get along.
They are the same species. Regional variants do exist in nature, and comparing grizzly bears and polar bears are too drastic a comparison considering they are not even closely related.
@@hanoianboy9562 Yeah, literally everything you just said was incorrect. Regional variants are from radically different geographical locations within the world of Pokemon, often even different continents. Even if they'd started off the same species, evolution (and here, I mean Darwinian style, not the form seen inside the games) would guide them down such completely different paths that the end results no longer would be. I mean, just look at Darwin's finches: Loads of different species of finch, each located on a separate island of the Galapagos archipelago, separated from each other by only a few dozen feet per island. Each and every one of them came from the same single species of bird, back when the islands were connected to not only each other, but also a continent. By the time Darwin arrived, they'd diverged from each other so far that no one island's species of finch was able to reproduce with any other island's species. *And that's just from being on separate islands within the same island chain.*
And, in fact, the only reason regional versions would be so different from each other as to be entirely different types-like one being a fire type and one being an ice type-would be if *exactly what I described above* had happened.
Also, no. Comparing regional variants to polar bears vs grizzlies isn't even remotely inappropriate, because you're actually dead wrong about them being "not even closely related." They're actually able to produce offspring with each other. Couldn't do that if they were "not even closely related."
I would argue against it because it is Pokémon adapting to their environment, changing how they look while doing so.

Reading Hattrem’s Shield ‘dex entry has kind of made me slightly dislike it.
my least favorite part of sword and shield: Wooloo can not learn Rollout......
This bothers me
No it will be the galarian miltank
It refuses to roll on command
*It rolls as it wishes*
Diavolo: *polishes bronzor
Bronzor: *shows nothing
Garden Turtle He will never reach The Truth
the shield was a lie
Wha wha wha wha wha wha Wha wha wha wha wha wha Wha wha wha wha wha wha
12:02 Going from Dusknoir to Trubbish had me almost on the floor in tears of laughter.
Also, wow: the theme of conflict running through Sword n Shield's Dex entrys seem 10 times more interesting than the actual game itself! (sad to say)
I feel like Beheeyem only abducts Dubwool because if it abducted Miltanks, like the common cliché, Mikey would have been way too happy.
11:21 "You can't know the truth,"
Meanwhile, in Italy...
*You will never reach the truth*
robert lupa I have been surfing the comments looking for this for 5 minutes
@@carden_f4399 Nice.
Me: I want the truth Bronzor!
Bronzor: "YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!"
Note on Corvisquire: It ttalks about throwing rocks at its enemies... but it does not learn Rock Throw. Boss Ass job there, guys.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Franchise: “Am I a joke to you?”
(The Mystery Dungeon games have been giving Legendaries genders long before Sword and Shield.)
Also, iirc, Michael doesn't play MDs
@Brian Ludwig Yes, the main games do. Latias (female), Latios (male), Heatran (50/50). Mew is female because the Kanto games state it gave birth. It's not that they don't have genders, it's that humans have no way yet to tell the difference.
Latios and Latias: Am I a joke to you?
The three genies are all male
@Brian Ludwig Because humans don't know when to use the moves, and there are plenty of animals in real life that do not breed well in captivity.
Maybe the Type: Null Dex entry talking about a thief is making a reference either to Gladion or Faba (this last one making more sense)
Remember that one of the 3 Type: Null made in Alola was robbed by Gladion, so this can mean that the Pokédex could be telling us that Gladion possibly was once in Galar.
And with Faba we need to remember that in the Æther foundation basement he has an online blog talking about the experiment that created Type: Null, so maybe this is telling us that either Faba was once in Galar and sold the Type: Null information or some crazy cientist in Galar used this online blog and used its information to make its own Type: Null

“revealing the eye-like patterns on the inside of its eyes”
*B I G B R A I N*
13:13 Might be a reference to the Norwegian Forest Cat, the breed of cat that traveled with the Vikings
I feel like the deity in Alolan Ninetales' entry is talking about Calyrex in the new DLC because the Crown Tundra is snowy and mountainous but it does say Calyrex is immortal so I'm not sure
I think it means Tapu Bulu because most of it's island is occupied by Mount Lanakila where Alolan Ninetails can be caught and the Thrifty Megamart (which is by the foot of the mountain) was built where Tapu Bulu used to live (and thus he destroyed the Tapu village in his wrath, hence the mart is abandoned and haunted)
I think Regirock wouldn’t like Dwebble too, as it could just bury itself in Regirock’s chest
But then similar to Rhyperior's original Pearl entry it could forcefully eject them & use Rock Wrecker to do so.
@@kryzallazurite1585
Yea but we are not talking about Rhyperior
I love Drapion’s dex entry so much! It’s a reference to how, in the animal kingdom, even some of the most dangerous animals, like Saltwater Crocodiles, know not to challenge hippos.
Plus, Hippowdon's Ground typing is Drapion's only weakness.
I would legit watch a documentary about Pokemon
You know in the style of BBC Nature documentaries, that would be epic
What if!
Alolan Ninetails is in the mountains
Alolan Ninetails is ice type
The “Crown Tundra” looks cold and mountainous
Calyrex is introduced and lives in the Crown Tundra
Calyrex was said to once rule Galar
Theory: Alolan Ninetails references Calyrex?

Me: c'mon, lemme give you a good polish!
My Bronzor, sticking its head out from behind the sofa: YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!
Theivul and Boltund being enemies is definitely a Fox and the hound reference
i mean yeah but they were friends in that movie
HeckinTrashGobbler yeah but the whole movie is about the fluctuation of their friendship and how the hounds owner turns him against the fox
How to beat Umbreon:
Have a Musharna create Umbreon’s nightmare into a reality: Floor tentacles
I think it’s funny whenever Mikey said we weren’t recording the Ice Age I just imagine a caveman or a mammoth holding a camera and just not hitting the record button
Obstagoon being Pangoro's rival makes perfect sense of you look at their move pools. Obstagoon has a signature move that's all defense and Pangoro favours moves like hammer arm which are all out attacking moves, it's a classic case of immovable object Vs unstoppable force.
I think that Aegislash either can't control whether or not it drains the life force of other beings, or it needs to drain that life force in order to survive.
