    Thanks for sharing this. I'll try it, may fix my issue.
    My 2012 F150 dash cluster lights stay on sometimes when Keys are Out. Resulting in dead Batt in morning. Park shift switch seems good though.

    lol!!! Do you realize how utterly worthless this video is if someone wanted to see how to remove the cylinder and that's the ONE THING you skipped over at 2:59? This is hilarious.

      It’s the reason I saw this and he skips that part 🤦‍♂️

    That black plug you plugged in is for the transponder. Your key has a transponder chip in it that the little black box reads to make sure you haven't just made a bump key to turn the ignition. It takes programing in the PATS to match new keys up with new transponder chips. Dealer only thing unless you have the right software.

      The plastic thing that goes around the cylinder that has the wires going to the bottom of it? Good to know! Hopefully that never actually needs replaced. I’m not sure why it would but hey, with cars anything can happen!

      @@JakeInGeorgia They aren't that difficult to replace, they read the frequency of the key and compare it to stored values in the BCM I think. Shouldn't even need a reprogram if you do have to replace it!

      There is no reason to get new keys. Rekey the new cylinder to match the old keys, OR with the cylinder out, use a screwdriver while holding the old keys next to it to put it in programming mode (needs two already programmed keys) to program in the new key chip, OR simply pry the plug out of the old key, pull the chip out, and swap it into the new key. If you have keys with the remote fob built in it is easier still to just swap the internals from one key to the other. There is no good reason to have to reprogram the PATs unless you have lose a key and only have one so can't program in the owner mode detailed in the manual.

    Did you have a new cylinder setup by the dealership to an existing key? If so, that would make sense and would explain why you didn’t have to reprogram for a new chip like previous posters we saying. Also, how much was the new cylinder? Thanks

    • @JakeInGeorgia
      @JakeInGeorgia  4 роки тому +1

      Yes that is exactly what happened. It’s been a while but I know it was definitely less than $20

      You can get a kit to rekey it yourself, unless you are a butterfingeres and feel more comfortable taking it to a locksmith to do for you. You only need to take the kit and the key, not the vehicle.

    Where did you buy the ignition and key ?
    My key is worn would like to replace for new

    • @JakeInGeorgia
      @JakeInGeorgia  6 місяців тому

      The key is original. The new cylinder came from local ford dealership. The dealer can use your current key to code the new cylinder.

    Did you have to do anything for your keys to work? My chime only works when I push it in or wiggle it around.

    • @JakeInGeorgia
      @JakeInGeorgia  4 роки тому

      Eric Swanson sorry I’m only seeing this now. No, you shouldn’t have to do anything with your keys. Did you replace the cylinder? My symptoms were no chime and sometimes a hard start. If you replace the cylinder and the cylinder is coded properly for the key you should have a chime.

      I have same problem, how did you fix ?

  • @ilovemyevo556
    @ilovemyevo556 4 роки тому +1

    that shouldn't have worked unless you have a transponder bypass installed

    • @JakeInGeorgia
      @JakeInGeorgia  4 роки тому

      Well... it worked lol

    • @stinkycheese804
      @stinkycheese804 3 роки тому

      Yes it should have worked, if you only replace the cylinder, which has been rekeyed to match the original key, which is the right way to do it so you still have the same key that also opens the doors and rear hatch.

      Then don’t trust it. I don’t like your name, Elver. It sounds ridiculous. Now, I could have kept that comment to myself but since we are all going out of our way to be dicks around here it seemed necessary. Go make your own damn tutorial.
