Nice manoeuvring in amongst all those mornings… :) My little dog Jack loves when Compass starts barking, he jumps up at the tv,. We hope Teal gets well very soon . Jack n Steve …🐶😎
I love your channel back in the 80's I had a sailboat that I kept in Newport Beach then Dana Point. Catalina was a nice sail and I enjoyed the overnights . Hope you feel better now
Nice to see Jessica and Ryan! Glad to hear that Emma has some sailing buddies and that Teal is doing better. That bomb cyclone hit us hard back up north! Wow that was crazy.
It's good that Emma made new friends and even better that Teal is feeling better. The three of you are in our prayers. Have lots of fun !! Linh and Emma take care of Teal. He needs lots of T L C, and of course "Direct Supervision" LOL
could I impose on you for the make of the blue dress you had on while in the dingy? Other half thought it was super cute And prayers for good outcomes on the surgery...
Hi! It's from Carve Designs. They make great pieces with UPF 50+ and is super comfortable. Here is the link to the dress I'm wearing. www.carvedesigns.com/collections/swim-dresses-1/products/cody-sun-dress-navy
Oh my kids! That title was very scary for your viewers, but that goodness Teal is feeling better. I remember anchoring in Adana Point Harbor back when there was nothing there but the stone breakwaters, after nearly running out of fuel during our trip back from the NEWPORT to Ensenada Race. Of course there weren’t any services there yet, so we flagged down a fisherman’s skiff to get us ashore for a couple of cans of gas, enough to get us the coast to Newport Beach our home port!
I’ve been watching your videos for a couple of years now. I love the projects ( such craftsmanship and patience), the cooking, the outings and the humour. You’re a lovely family. I hope everything is okay with Teal. Sending my best wishes.
Your a very smart and luck man Teal. Hope you feel well past this. Much love and protection on your new endeavors. Thanks so much for sharing the good parts and the hard parts.
Linh did a good job operating the dinghy. Practice will make her better and more comfortable. Both of the girls need to be able to operate the dinghy in case of emergency. They also need to be able to steer and dock the boat as well.
@@tealgoben1781 , I kinda figured they might be able to. You and I both aren’t getting any younger so our girls have to be able to step up and take care of us when needed. I hope all your medical tests come back ok. Big fans of the family.
Dana Point is beautiful. Glad Teal is feeling better and you are almost back in Mexico. I’m sure Emma is looking forward to spending more time with kids her own age. Fair winds and following seas Basik crew.
Hi Compass, glad to hear you’re feeling better. Been busy with doc too. Been in hospital two times. Now know I have metastatic melanoma. Prognosis is unknown at this time. I’ll be praying for Teal to be healthy and at full strength for Mexico. Sounds like fun. I’ll be watching from the bed. Compass, be sure to watch over, Emm, Linh, and Teal.
You're making me homesick! I used to sail my Nacra 5.8 out of Dana Point back in the '80s. It was a b*tch to sail from the ramp as the channel is narrow and the wind usually blows straight down the channel too, so you're tacking back and forth every few seconds. The great thing was I stored my cat right there in their yard so it only took a few minutes to get in the water. However, theft is rampant there and I often had to run to the local marine hardware store to buy replacement parts because someone stole them off my boat. If you get the chance you should sail up to Newport Bay and do the water side tour of stars homes. John Wayne had his home there and also his huge converted trawler. I learned to sail at the OCC Sailing Center. Long Beach is a cool place to stop and check out the Queen Mary. They have an old Russian sub on display there too. However, Long Beach has a well deserved nickname, Hurricane Alley. Another thing to watch the forecasts for are the Santa Ana Winds, which can be fun to sail under if you're on a racing boat like the Shields 30' that the sailing center had us learn on but that was under instructor supervision. I got to go out a couple of times in those high wind conditions and it was a real thrill ride.
Super smart decision to get checked out before heading into Mexico, Teal! And great to hear you're feeling better!! My hope and prayer is all is well, or easily attended to. Great that Emma got to hang out with other cruising kids and can look forward to reuniting with them along the way! Here's to good news on the bloodwork, and clearance for heading south!
Concerned for you Teal, I do hope that whatever it is is easily fixed. It is amazing what a few blood tests can reveal and you are doing the right thing by getting things checked out. After a small heart attack Nov 2009 and then bowel cancer May 2011, loads of chemo and then combined chemo and radio and eventually major surgery I survived against all odds as they botched my surgery and stitched me up with 4 inches of dead bowel in me. Today the cancer is gone but the after effects of the treatment are not good. Do not ignore any bleeding or unusual symptoms in bowel habit. Early treatment is essential for a good outcome. Not saying that this has any bearing on your condition just a general observation. You would be surprised on how many women ignore and miss their breast cancer appointments, taking my wife for her appointments after her surgery it was unbelievable how many missed their appointment. This is even more astounding because in the UK health care is free. Wishing you the best of luck and Linh, Emma and Compass of course.
Our hand signals have worked for us for years and limits any frustrations during anchoring, pulling up a mooring ball, and docking. There are no miscommunications or hurt feelings. Lol
We normally throw a stern anchor out at Dana Point anchorage. Our yacht club does a cruise there on Memorial Day weekend and rafts up 80 plus boats in that space, in 2 or more long rafts. Fun place to hang out! Both clubs there are awesome especially Dana West Y.C.
great to see Compass giving Linh encouragement starting the outboard, I hope Teal is OK Linh because a few mouths ago my brother in law felt un well one day and the next he wasn't with us any more so PLEASE keep an eye on him, so do not apologise for it. but on a more funny note, while you where all walking with Compass looking at you being the smallest that's me with my family of three .
Get better, Teal! And my travelin family catamoran lovin team, stay safe please. Been stormy waters up here in Puget Sound, as an aside, but hopefully not so where youre at.
So glad Teal is feeling better and that Emma has some boating friends to hang out with. Linh great job muscling the outboard start and the diesel cans!
Linh let's hope it's just the bug Teal has caught and nothing else but he does like to fish. Hope Emma enjoyed time with some teenagers about her age and to trade stories. Again hope Teal is feeling a lot better. Make some delicious meals Linh again I believe it makes everyone feel better to. Be careful and stay safe love you guys.
Beautiful sunset! Always in my thoughts & prayers Lihn, Emma, Teal, & Compass. In hopes all is good for Teal. I really enjoy these videos you make of these amazing places I'll never see. I liked looking back over the bay seeing a cruise ship, all those boats, & such beautiful blue water. Love seeing the Dolphins swimming ahead of your Catamaran. So mystical to see them. Just really love you folks & look forward to next week. (seems like 50 years later hehe)
!!!!!! DANGER. !!!!! FYI: several videos on UA-cam have shown the danger of putting outboard lanyard around your wrist! It slides off during an accident and the motor stays running. It has caused severe injury too many people. It is necessary to always clip it to something sturdy like your d-ring and not wrap around itself. Clip it in because it will not tighten like you think it should! It will slide off your wrist without tightening! It will not be able to engage the safety switch! I would have never believed it. Unfortunately too many have found out the hard way. Please don't let it happen to you.
You all take care, and I will be saying prayers for All of you… your have inspired me and I just sold my home and in the middle of purchasing my own cat.. stay safe and I will be watching and looking for great news!
Well, if you're going to need any kind of medical care then South OC is probably one of the best places in the world to be. Saddleback Hospital in Laguna Niguel, Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo (the closest to you), Irvine Medical Center (where President Clinton was recently at) and St. Joseph's Hospital in Orange are some of the top hospitals in the US and the doctors there are often rated as the best in the US too. Good luck and good health to you.

It was a pleasure to see the family members enjoying their visit with friends and a night out. Super fun for Emma to meet up with pals her age, that could meet up along the way to sailing the world. Pals become great friends, when nurtured by unselfish share experiences and that can last a lifetime. Good o’ Emma. Prayers for your good health Captain Teal, you are sorely needed by all, including your followers. God Bless 🐻🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

On long passages, on my boat, those kinds symptoms have to do with not sufficient hydration the majority of the time. Doctor immediately discounting illnesses of the respiratory system, diseases of the skin and problems subcutaneous tissue has to be less worrisome. That leaves issues with the digestive system. Same as Compass? Embarrassing for Teal's Superman Persona if it turns out to be insufficient hydration.
Do pray Teal is OK!!!
