There are so many good people out there! We are so lucky to meet so many of them. It's easy to forget there is more good than bad out there. Those fishermen were hilarious as well as generous.
@@OnboardLifestyle I'm glad to hear that your experience is a good one. I'm getting caught up on your adventures as we speak. Be safe and I love your channel!
Glad you were able to find refuge from the storm. Touring those canals reminded me of Napa. It looked just like where I lived while there...complete with all the electric boats.
Great video, so cool to see all the ships on anchor waiting to be unloaded/loaded, too bad their just sitting there. And getting local refresh fish delivery, priceless!
You're a tease! Shows us a fish, tells us it will taste like lobster, and then cuts away and does not show us the final product. How rude! The fishermen sound like they were quite the characters. Thanks for the adventure folks. Really appreciate it. Vamonos!
Just found your channel today!! Sorry to be late to the show!!! I used to sail with my uncle as a teenager to the Bahamas. Brings back so many great memories!! Thank you!!
Always nice to see generous people. Just FYI: you attract friendly people because that is who YOU are. Thank you for sharing your lives with us. Keep up the good work.
It never ceases to amaze me how the fishermen you meet are always so happy to share their catches with you guys. Such a lovely vibe. As for the container ships ... Long Beach and Los Angeles ports are both chock-a-block with over 100 container ships. Welcome to the Global Supply Chain Crisis: US Edition.
I used to work on a container ship years ago (SeaLand Consumer). I feel for all those crews that have to sit/anchor outside of the port for weeks. Thankfully, we never had that problem.
Good choice on getting fuel injection. I got fuel injection on my Harley and I had to relearn something. With a carburetor, I would sometimes have the throttle cracked open on startup. On a fuel injection model, if the throttle is cracked open on startup, there would be a pressure spike in the fuel pressure regulator, and the fuel pressure regulator would break. DO NOT HAVE THE THROTTLE CRACKED OPEN ON STARTUP. Keep the engine throttle on idle until after the engine is running.
Thank you for shade a joyful story in those dark days on land! Your cat is becoming a very fine home, love to see Teal and family worked so hard from a project boat to a dream home on water.
Teal you are adapting to the sea captain moniker very well with the sail back to the mainland before the gales came in. Not sure how long you keep the fuel in your outboard but maybe an additive like Seafoam in the fuel tank will help keep the carburetor clean for those extended journeys and it works too. We won't talk about the container ships because it gets me all riled up. Cook us something delightful Linh .be careful and stay safe love you guys
Yay! Nice catch Teal!😊That was really nice Fishermen. Very nice looking fish. Plump. I loved cruising down the street in a boat. Wow, not many people can say they park their boat out front of their house. A beautiful place. Your nieces are adorable. I know they were ecstatic being with Emma by the looks of the picture. I've just recently heard about these ships, & now seeing them, oh my gosh. I don't know who to feel sorry for, the people stuck on the boats, the families missing loved ones, the shortage of workers, or the consumers facing empty shelves. So very much enjoy you dear precious folks. Glad you got a new motor for the Dingy(?). Looking forward to your next video.
I am glad you got a less persnickety outboard. The local fishermen are quite the colorful characters. I would love to see a pair of wind turbines to augment your array. Safe journeys !
ABM is my home port. Love it! Hopefully, you found the Ralph's supermarket with the dock in the back. You can get your provisions and tote them in a cart right down to your dinghy.
Alamitos bay is my home port, if I would have known that you guys were going to be there I would have taken Teal out fishing 🎣 videos are a bit behind, maybe next time.
Oh what a familiar that was! My Dad moored his first Islander there when the Marina was brand new! Compared to the other places he had used before(Terminal Island area) Los Alamitos was like the Taj Mahal! So happy you were able to enjoy some fun times there. Your local fishermen were so nice to share their catch with you too.
So interesting to see all those cargo ships we’ve all been hearing about. I have a 9.9 Tohatsu on my dings (2012?) I’ve been happy with it. All those fish are so interesting. I’ve never had Sheeps head. Very generous of those fisherman. Just had a friend (fisherman) give us a filet of Rockfish (striper) he caught an hour before on the Chesapeake Bay. Delicious! Pays to have a slip next to a fisherman!
I never expected to see so many container shipe of the coast of LA it must be a very busy and important port for the for the south west . I have been watching most of you posts on my computer at home in Northern Ireland you are a great work team
Nearby Seal Beach Animal Shelter use to be the benefactor of proceeds from the Annual Wiener Nationals Wiener Dog Races held at Los Alamitos Horse Race Track. I got to race my Baron many years ago. Came in dead last bc he was the smallest one there and his feet couldn't get any traction in the soft dirt of the race track. He had to 'swim' over to the edge of the track and find me. So funny!
Alamitos Bay! Home Sweet Home!! I misspent my youth sailing there - from Little Ships Fleet to Congressional Cup. Glad you had an enjoyable time there!!
My Dad had a 30' sail boat in Alamitos bay in the 60's. Loved sailing to Catalina. Dad belonged to the Long Beach Yacht Club and we raced with them several times a year. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.
Hey, you bought the same outboard as us. We installed after market fins to better get on plane. You'll see after the break in, your bow still plows and may not plane. Off on the Haha this Monday. See you in Mexico. Andy and Laurie Park
Great video, so glad to see you just got a new outboard for the dingy. That is one thing you don't want to have problems with when in Mexico and beyond. Seems Teal is quite the fisherman through conversation. Who needs a pull when you can get a catch like that just being friendly and kind!
I love my marina, I'm glad you had a great stay at Alamitos Bay! The container ships are another story, usually there's 2-3 to day sail around, now, UGHHH!!
Rather sad to see the container ships waiting like that. 💯 politics. Glad you got a new motor for the tender. Good to see your safe! Fair winds Basik crew!

Great videos, beautiful family and boat!! Just started watching y’all last week. Binge watching 👍. Retired “inland” and missing my 21’ day sailer had to sell. I’ll live the adventures through you tube sailing 🙃. Watching you hitting the deadhead was wondering if/why you don’t have exterior lights and or spot lights for safety situations. Could even have red lights to help you see but be less visible to others when it may be better Not to be seen? Teal, hoping you have a protection plan for your family if y’all happen upon some unscrupulous characters. Their protection is your responsibility. The problem seems to be getting worse because of world economics. Sorry not trying to be a bummer! You all stay safe and healthy and enjoy life !!!
Keep that fuel clean! Free of dirt and water and your problems with the outboard will not return! Great video.... fisherman here just drive past your boat at 20knots and the only thing they give you are waves slapping under the stern of the boat (rant!).

Ready for another adventure. It was good to see that you got so much sail time. I'm glad to see you got your outboard dilemma taken care of. Going out of the country with a new one makes one major thing you don't have to worry about.
Teal, I might suggest you and your family invest in an ultrasonic cleaner. It is very important keeping your carb clean. Fuels below the border are sometimes suspect. I use Simple green and Dawn Liquid soap to clean my small engine carbs. Good luck. Is your new outboard a 4 stroke?
Alamitos Bay/Belmont Shores is a Great spot. My Daughter went to Long Beach State and stayed in that area for 10 years. I spent a lot of time in that area and the Marina where you were. Teal make sure you learn about the places you're going to fish in advance so you can stock up on some proper or at least good all around lures, line, gaff etc. I've seen to many times sailors go out and are way under knowledge and equipped. Maybe even a folding crab trap so you can try your hand at catching some crab/lobster. Just saying 🐟
We check as we need them. They all vary in prices. Most are affordable some are extremely expensive. If we belonged to a yacht club, guest moorage is pretty reasonable since most yacht clubs have reciprocals. On this coast the average cost for our boat varies between $30-$100 per day. It really depends on the area. Thanks for following our channel!

100 container ships at anchor? That is what damaged the pipe line and caused the oil spill. Supply chain break down and shortages are next.
