Congrats on the overnight sail success Marissa, what a great confidence builder. I had no idea the water was so beautiful there for swimming and snorkeling, being from the east coast and never been anywhere near Catalina. Beautiful place to cruise I'd think.
Love the flags and the cute cat. I thing a cat on board makes a lot more sense then a dog like so many other sailing UA-camrs. If ya'll ever make your way over to Florida let us know, have a lot to show you. "Cheers"
Marissa. Just saw your video. Very nice. This is Jose Suarez from the M/V Pilar. I used to be at Ventura Safe Harbor Marina. We are in Mexico just north of PV. Happy sailing!!
Jose! Great to hear from you. How could we forget the beautiful MV Pilar and her kind crew? Glad to hear Mexico has been treating you well. We hope to get down there this season. Fair winds!
EXCELLENT... And we Know that was how you felt getting away from everyday life, work and endless boat projects to get away for a Good SAILING ⛵️ trip for a change to remember “just Why you do this” all in the first place...!! 😎👍✅
Did you guys drag anchor or just a ton of scope out at Emerald Bay? Looked like you had plenty of room. I saw marlins jumping from waves a few weeks ago off the coast of baja.. pretty spectacular. I've never seen swordfish in SoCal. Cool that you experienced that!
We didn’t drag one bit - we let out more scope to prepare for the storm and we’re totally fine. No one predicted a second storm to roll through from The OPPOSITE direction which ultimately threw us at the end of our once-comfortable-scope towards the rocks. Read all the nitty gritty here: www.svavocet.com/2021/10/21/catalina-rendezvous/
That was nice!! Can't wait for more. Would love to see AIS with all the ships and did you see my stuff I'm waiting for on any of those Long Beach container ships?
Awsome tackling the night sail; it’s easier; you can use the nav lights on well marked local oceans. You know you’ve arrived as a sailor when you say “it’s too rough in here; let’s go out and heave-to”!
We knew Larry Pardey would be proud! It was a great feeling to know what to do in such a crappy situation… we had been preparing our whole sailing career for that! Thanks for watching Eddie!
Great video. Was this a few months back? I was working in the ship yard when we had some strong thunderstorms roll through. It got pretty crazy. Love the perfect flake you have on the sail.
Hey guy's, enjoying the longer episodes! Curious as to what kind of water temps you where dealing with? Noticed you had on full wet suits. B.T.W. This cracked me up 10:07.
glad you enjoyed it! The water was actually fairly warm at around 65+ degrees... but we wear wetsuits to protect our skin from the rocks we were diving around in case we brushed up against them.
Hey Clive! Thanks for checking on us. We did see 6' tidal swings here in Ventura - mother nature is a BEAST! We are safe though. Hoping you are as well

We had our hands full, trying not to crash into the rock but mentioned the full story about half way into the video. You can also read all about it here www.svavocet.com/2021/10/21/catalina-rendezvous/
“It’s got a lot of birds on it!” killed me. So gorgeous! And the location is too. ;)
He kills me haha
Amazing cinematography! 🙌
Thanks Chris!
Nice episode. Well done. Catalina is so special.
It sure is!

Nice video! You guys would probably love the Baja Ha Ha.
absolutely
Enjoyed your episode and we’re now subscribed 😄
Welcome aboard!
Great vid! I sailed to Catalina a few years ago. One of my favorite trips! Makes me want to go again!
It's beautiful, we can't wait to get back there!
Nice one... thx for sharing this mates ,..cheers !
Hey there! Thanks so much!
wow such a marvelous adventure. I'm in awe.
Thanks!
I love the scenery too,
cheers :)
Great mix of video! Dolphin shot at sunrise @ 1:47 🐬👍🏼
Would love to see more diving!
Heck yah!
This is an incredible video, please take us with you next time so I can bring my dive gear!
Deal! Let’s go 🤿
Emerald is the best. Love the moorings on Indian rock. R 14-R16.
pretty nice spot!
Missing Catalina for sure!!! Can’t wait to get back down there this next summer.
Heck yah Shane!
From the looks of your dive videos, the Catalina Islanders seem to be fairly good stewards of the sea.
They are great
Most of the coastline of Catalina (and other Channel Isl.) are protected marine preserves. Kelp forest making a come back.
Really nice and easy vibe & music! The rock formations are interesting.
Hope to see more of your adventures
Thanks Joe!
great sail! love the story telling...well done!
thanks friends!
I enjoyed this episode very much, probably not as much as you guys, because you were living it !
Heck yah! Thanks for watching and commenting

Nice to see your doing well on the ocean ! 😎

Love the pirate flag 😆 beautiful boat!! This is such a cool way to travel! Subbing to see more of your adventures!
oh hey thanks for stopping by!!
Avalon. Puts a little perspective on C,S & N's Southern Cross. Never new where it was.
ah, indeed
What an adventure!! That was a great trip, let's go again (but longer this time) :)
Cheers to that!

Ah, there were MANY popping up on our AIS! and haha I'm sure we did :) Stay safe out there Tim!
Looked like a fun trip! We can’t wait to stop at the Channel Islands on our way south:)
Please do, we would love to see you!

thank you for the kind words
Wow sword fish, that's so cool ! Did you see flying fish in the area ?
After further research we can conclude it was a Marlin haha! We see flying fish every once in a while :)
love the pirate flags!!
thanks!!
Great wrap on your wheel!
12:40 Were you flying a Budweiser flag from your starboard spreader?
Thank you! It was one of my favorite projects. Yes, it was a budweiser flag, good eye!

Cheers!
Nice trip.
Thanks Matt!
Hey guys, is that only a mooring ball, or is there stern tying as well?
In Emerald bay they have a mooring field but we anchored, in Avalon there is ONLY moorings and they are bow and stern
👍👍👍
thank you!
I love it
omg thank you!!!
Total dinghy envy - we disguise our rib with a cover and heavy rope fender but it’s still a rib and doesn’t sail.
Thanks 🙏
Haha we love our Fatty Knees! We drove 8 hours to pick her up and so glad we did

Thanks!

Swordfish is pretty tasty, too bad you don’t like seafood.
honestly I think it was a Marlin - regardless, how cool!?
So sorry for what has happened in southern California with the car jacking, assaults, smash & grabs and the homeless encampments. Such a travesty.
Well thats just California in general im afraid. We don't really experience it being on our boat, but we appreciate the empathy!
