For the Maven quest, there's a master level lock in her home in Riften. If you get in there you find that she's performed the dark brotherhoods dark sacrament. Theres a letter from maven to Astrid asking why a certain someone wasnt dead yet. I assumed that was related to this case but maybe not

I imagine they removed the squatter from breezehome because when Skyrim first came out, much of the US still hadn’t recovered from the housing crisis and the recession. I think that would’ve hit too close to home for a lot of people.
Maybe, but realistically players will just murder that guy and be done with him, so no real point. It's funny how people always tend to "roleplay" some good noble guy, but then still proceed to steal all of those potions, ingots and ingredients in shops.
Irileth actually foreshadows the Balgruuf’s son thing early on in the game, she says something along the lines of “I think even his own son might want him dead”

"Sure Bethesda IS dedicated to little details..." Correction. "Bethesta WAS dedicated to details", now thay dont even care about big problems in their games - thinking of fallout 76.
@Jacob Underwood not finishing all things in big games is normal. Important is for cut content to not influence rest of the game negatively (like this cut out butterfly quest). But relesing a game full of buggs that have been known for years is just evil. Not mentioning this Role play game drama Bethesda created not long ago where they preety much copied some other title just changing details, but it still was quite obvious. After what happened with fallout 76 I dont trust them with TES VI. Even tho I love Skyrim and play it to this day I will wait with puchase of TES VI until proper reviews come out. Bethesda got lazy and unimaginatice with their products not mentioning lying about their products before relase. I swear if I heare "it just works" again when they present TES VI I'm just giving up on them -_-
I'm telling you, just watching Nate's videos have made me play this amazing game yet again for like the 20th time. Except this time, I'm playing as a mage. Before, I was STRICTLY a warrior class. No potions, no magic (except for when I absolutely had to; i.e the College of Winterhold entrance exam and the one Dwemer crystal puzzle later in that quest line). No shouts except for when I had to, i.e clearing the mountain to get to partysnax or to bring down Alduin with Dragonrender. And I played this on legendary difficulty, I know that seems hard but it really wasn't, especially that I was able to defeat Alduin at level 15 and have most of the dragon priests by then. I didn't use glitches or anything to exploit the game, I will admit I have in the past but that was after I had beat Alduin and won the Civil War and done all the quests, but still sticking to my Nordic warrior build. Now I'm playing as a mage and it just seems harder for some reason. I had to knock the difficulty down to adept at most. Having to manage all the magic reserves and potion making and everything, it is tedious. But I will say though, I've never had an inventory so cleared up and empty before lol. So, again, thank you Nate for your videos and getting me back into this *THICC* game.
"you can kill jarl Balgruuf by removing his essential status via console commands and have his brother Hrongar replace him" Okay but what if I also do it to Hrongar ? Do I just break whiterun or something?
My best guess your game will keep crashing or you'll get stuck during some cutscene where Balgruuf or Hrongar are suppose to show up, because they will not be able to deliver their lines, so rest of the cutscene won't trigger and you'll just have bunch of characters standing in loop, because they aren't suppose to be dead as "essential NPC". non-essentials of course just get replacement by their counterparts, spouses, apprentices, etc.
Vignar is probably scripted to take his place after, maybe after the Civil War quest is finished. So you'll still have a Jarl to actually finish the main story.
That Terek thing would've been such a pain for console users considering that bug where dead corpses will sometimes just hang around forever, spawning in over and over
It would be possible to kick Terak out without killing him. You just had to report him to the jarls steward who would then come and kick him out. I know this because it seems either the mod Relationship Dialouge Overhaul or Cutting Room Floor accidentally brought him back into my game. After kicking him out he would just wander around Whiterun, hating you.
I'm not sure if this was Cutting Room Floor or RDO (both I believe include Terek) but there is another choice to get rid of him. If you go to Avinici back in Dragon's Reach you can tell him about the squatter. It takes a minute but you can then follow Avinici who tells you that he'll take care of it, and a guard back to Breezehome. The ensuing scene (which I won't spoil) is hilarious.

It's because scene of children murdering their father won't fly with censors in multiple countries, so they probably figured it's not really worth getting the game banned for a single quest.

Can you imagine what the next elderscrolls will be like when this level of detail is in a game 12 years old
And I mean, the level of detail in Oblivion... When this had a ~6 year gap between Oblivion and It...
I hope it's bethesda who will still make the 6th one. I'm somewhat disgusted on the online version that I quit playing within a week.
@@neilchristiancalajate5615 why didn’t you like eso?
@@Zoroth3Demon I dunno about them, but it disgusted me in part because they changed the lore to appease the new online community. I quit playing it after about 6 days. I tried really hard to like it. But I am still playing and loving Skyrim
@@denilla8034 There is appeasement and practiality for gameplay. I'd be curious what big unsufferable change they made to draw you away. I quite like it myself and most lore-breaking elements are... explained by lore breaking elements. Dragon Breaks are an integral part of the lore.

Its basically getting murdered to death, but in a more stealthy fashion. With less witnesses or traceability.
I think trying that trick about launching him off the map using a lumber mill Nate told us about a while back might be entertaining. Of course, murdering him to death would probably be quicker and easier.

What's up with that cat anyhow. He's in Oblivion as well. Since the Oblivion Crisis happened what 200(ish) years prior to the events in Skyrim he is either 200 plus years old or he is passing on his name.
For all I know either is likely. If this is revealed please don't spoil it. But I'd like to know if it becomes relevent.
I like Elder Scrolls but I'm not a super fan. I still discover new stuff largely because the game is too easy and once I hit level 40 or higher I tend to restart and try different strategies.
@@0lAllan The answer to the game being too easy is the same as every other problem in the Elder Scrolls: MODS

For the Maven quest, there's a master level lock in her home in Riften. If you get in there you find that she's performed the dark brotherhoods dark sacrament. Theres a letter from maven to Astrid asking why a certain someone wasnt dead yet. I assumed that was related to this case but maybe not
I thought that dark sacrament was meant for us. Since you can get attacked by the dark brotherhood and survive
Maybe that certain someone is you.
@@abramdelisle5746 it seems to start happening after you hit level 12 if you don't join the dark brotherhood before that. Terrik is actually forcefully ejected by Proventus and a guard. The "Cutting Room Floor" mod restores all this dialogue.
I imagine they removed the squatter from breezehome because when Skyrim first came out, much of the US still hadn’t recovered from the housing crisis and the recession. I think that would’ve hit too close to home for a lot of people.
I see what you did there. "Hit too close to home"
Maybe, but realistically players will just murder that guy and be done with him, so no real point. It's funny how people always tend to "roleplay" some good noble guy, but then still proceed to steal all of those potions, ingots and ingredients in shops.
I would have kept him. Nice to have company, and someone to scare off theives. Especially considering my dragonborn is often alone.
Honestly I don’t think they give a fuck
Irileth actually foreshadows the Balgruuf’s son thing early on in the game, she says something along the lines of “I think even his own son might want him dead”

"Sure Bethesda IS dedicated to little details..."
Correction. "Bethesta WAS dedicated to details", now thay dont even care about big problems in their games - thinking of fallout 76.
Fallout 76 in its entirety was a complete mistake.
I swear if I heare "it just works" again when they present TES VI I'm just giving up on them -_-
In Skyrim it rains and the torch’s don’t go out
Finally someone that has there intro longer than a minute and is not boring
"you can kill jarl Balgruuf by removing his essential status via console commands and have his brother Hrongar replace him"
Okay but what if I also do it to Hrongar ? Do I just break whiterun or something?
My best guess your game will keep crashing or you'll get stuck during some cutscene where Balgruuf or Hrongar are suppose to show up, because they will not be able to deliver their lines, so rest of the cutscene won't trigger and you'll just have bunch of characters standing in loop, because they aren't suppose to be dead as "essential NPC". non-essentials of course just get replacement by their counterparts, spouses, apprentices, etc.
One of jarl Balgruuf's son's is his brother
@@Angel-st9dd ...what? That's untrue lmao
Vignar is probably scripted to take his place after, maybe after the Civil War quest is finished. So you'll still have a Jarl to actually finish the main story.
Maven Blackbriar takes his place all the way from Riften. "I told you, all of Skyrim answers to ME!" j/k would be cool though
That Terek thing would've been such a pain for console users considering that bug where dead corpses will sometimes just hang around forever, spawning in over and over
Probably why it was cut
My first home was the abandoned home. So I was startled by the beware the butcher (blood on ice) quest.
