This is pretty much every town and city in Skyrim. Oblivion had bigger cities with greater populations. I guess as the graphics scale up, sacrifices have to be made (though the modding community has proven that's not always the case).
I'll be honest, first overheard those lovebirds, while testing out my Enchantment skill. Didn't think it was weird until I got to know the Riften court better.
I love Nate's vids, but sometimes it's like: "Skyrim has many fights with dragons, and so many players have no doubt noticed that glowing, swooshy effect after killing one. But, did you know that's not just a cool visual effect on Bethesda's part? If you pay attention to some in-game conversations and lore, you are actually - in those moments - CONSUMING A DRAGON'S SOUL. Why would the player be doing that? What would a dragon soul taste like? And where in the lore does this fit in? Only the greybeards know. And they ... aren't talking. Or shouting. You get it."
@@McPlayer8t McPlayer8t McPlayer8t The thing is, his videos are too long. There's a copy of a Kiss Sweet Mother in most of the temples though, I'm almost certain there's one in the temple of Kynareth and the Temple of Talos Plus, you find Arentino's copy of the book with him when he's actually performing the Black Sacrament I think the book spawns in those locations due to the fact it's a book centred around religion, and it would make sense for religous themed books to be found in the temples
There's a third way into the city, even before you buy the house. Just use the sewer grate that empties out into the lake. Leads you right inside Mistveil Keep's prison.
When I first played the game, I was often confused by the fact that the area riften is in is called "The Rift", due to my lack of knowledge on the holds being different than the major cities in each. What added to this was an old lady who would say "There's a rift in skyrim" which in my dumb baby mind thought that there was an actual rift which I would encounter, somewhere around Riften. This is added to my confusion during "Season Unending" when Tullius said gaining "The Rift" would be nice, since I thought there was a real rift somewhere.
Well the Falmer Blood Elixer makes you fuck like a Sabrecat, doesn't mean it makes you as big as one. Gotta use that Horker Tusk strap on sheath for the full effect.
When you think about it, it’s mental that a child managed to not only escape the orphanage he was being brought up in, not only manage to successfully perform the Black Sacrament… but also managed to safely walk from Riften to Windhelm of his own accord. (Not only is it a staggering distance, but from experience it’s also one of the most dangerous journeys you can make in Skyrim).
Yep - the propensity of bears, wolves and frostbite spiders on the road between The Rift and East March is insane - nevermind the main road passing by a giant camp and a dragon lair.
"Mistivell Keep" Oh, Nate... Its Mistveil. Mist as in, well, mist - and veil as in the brides ornament! Then again, it wouldn't be a proper EpicNate video without him mispronouncing a name we hear multiple times in the game :)
Man, breaking into Mistveil Keep is definitely the most anxiety-inducing of any castle for me. I've always loved Riften's blend of wealth and depravity.
I have something i discovered randomly in skyrim, it doesnt really have anything to do with riften, but here it is: You can get your followers "stuck" by giving them the command to interact with the stones (sunstone, waterstone, etc.) on solstheim, but they only get "stuck" if they are still corrupted (btw they only get "stuck" for a bit of time and the followers talk like everyone else on the influenced by the stones)

Couldn't have been Cicero, he came by boat, as noted in his journals. And landed in dawn star, which is surmised by you running into him taking the night mother between dawn star and whiterun. Hinting that his path was dawn star straight south

What I found most disappointing about Skyrim's factions is that so many of them are not what they were in Oblivion. Dark Brotherhood, the Thieves Guild the Mages Guild (which doesn't even exist anymore) and the Fighters Guild that doesn't even have a presence in Skyrim. It was almost devastating
I agree. I recently played Oblivion again and had a great time playing all four Guilds and loved the rules and whatnot. In Skyrim, the thieves don't emphasize helping the poor and don't care if you murder people to death which was a big no no in Oblivion and made it different than the DB. It could've been different and still fun in Skyrim, but the directions the guilds went (or lack thereof in Fighters guild) left me quite a bit disappointed for sure.
Actually there is a third pregnant woman in the province: Rhiada, who works at Markarts Treasury and is married to Eltrys ( the guy you help during the Forsworn Conpiracy quest). It's also interesting to know that Thonar Silver-Blood can sometimes be caught flirting with her: take a listen! ( Oh wait...)
I found it kind of annoying that you couldn't destroy the Thieves Guild like you could with the Dark Brotherhood. I think a questline of catching thieves and bringing Blackbriars to justice could've been fun. Hell, given the distrust in Winterhold for the Mages College, it would've been cool to have a quest where the Jarl sends you to infiltrate the college and try to collapse it into the sea. Though that would be a really evil questline for sure, haha.

When he said, they have dialogue that definitely confirm she is pregnant I expected very sarcastic openly obvious words that extremely strongly hinted at them, “can’t believe your expecting a child”
I don’t know if it’s already in a video, but during the dark brotherhood quest to kill an empire, if you wear a chefs full outfit (hat and clothes) when you confront the guards you can unlock some unique dialogue
You didn't take Ingrid Black-Briar's stupid ingredients quest then? You lucked out. My journal will never be clear. She'll get my nirnroots over my cold, dead body.
technically the Riften bandit attacks are sort of referenced by the guards when they say "been too long since we've had a good bandit raid" so that can kind of be linked to that.
I'd like to think that "A Kiss, Sweet Mother" was actually given to Aventus by Cicero in Riften. Come to think of it, how could a mere kid travel from Riften to Windhelm alone. He prolly had help escaping the city and was heavily influenced into performing the sacrament. I think it was Cicero. But since as a Keeper, he is not allowed to take any contract to kill, he merely influenced Aventus, rather killing Grelod himself. And we all know we can meet Cicero going to the direction of Whiterun from the North. Why would he come from the north? Visited Dawnstar maybe? Or Windhelm?
Brynjolf has been running this elixir racket for ten years, just hoping some stranger shows up to actually steal and plant the ring, meanwhile every single member of the guild is sitting on their ass downstairs. No wonder they're struggling.
One theory I had is... Dinya Balu was once an assassin from the dark brotherhood but had a change of heart after meeting Maramal and that book was hers when she was still part of the brotherhood. I've observed that dark elves in the setting of ES 5 worships the daedra, Azura is commonly worshipped by them and Dinya was the only one who worshipped Mara that much, not to mention she herself is a priestess. Not a solid theory though but a possible one.

I love that the closed captions at 8.14 says "so this kid would have both a human and elephant" and then continues to talk about "crossbreeding between men and myrhh". Such good value on top of an already awesome video :)
My theory about the black sacrament book is that Cicero knew that the orphans were being abused and casually gave them the book hoping one would run off and perform the ritual.
5:47 I have a theory Nate. With Haelga, there's a note you can find on her dresser that talks about the wonderful night her and an anonymous person had. I've legit been trying to theorize who it could've been. Maybe it was Brynjolf? I think you can find the note before the thieves guild quest, but who's to say they didn't stop visiting each other? Maybe after the quest was over he went over to her house to visit again, and he left one of his bottles there? Just a theory of course.
In a weird sort of way I find the Dark Brotherhood a more ethical organization than the Thieves Guild. True story, I never have finished the thieves guild questline.
BTW, Cicero probably just leaves copies of 'A Kiss, Sweet Mother' everywhere he goes. Got to make sure that potential clients have the necessary means to contact the Dark Brotherhood, after all!

This is pretty much every town and city in Skyrim. Oblivion had bigger cities with greater populations. I guess as the graphics scale up, sacrifices have to be made (though the modding community has proven that's not always the case).
My exact thought.
Not counting the guards.
'City's' of Skyrim are just over glorified towns. Lol
In the lore the population is likely in the thousands. Game mechanics necessitate a much smaller city
I'll be honest, first overheard those lovebirds, while testing out my Enchantment skill.
Didn't think it was weird until I got to know the Riften court better.
I love Nate's vids, but sometimes it's like:
"Skyrim has many fights with dragons, and so many players have no doubt noticed that glowing, swooshy effect after killing one.
And don’t forget, “SKYRIM BIG” at the beginning of most videos.
I love Nate, but he needs some way better scripts.
Check out Camelworks, he has some mega Skyrim content.
@@McPlayer8t McPlayer8t McPlayer8t The thing is, his videos are too long. I don't doubt that he has good content, but I also don't have 1-2 hours to set aside to watch a video about who has the dark brotherhood contract on them or the cult in rorikstead. There's a copy of a Kiss Sweet Mother in most of the temples though, I'm almost certain there's one in the temple of Kynareth and the Temple of Talos
Plus, you find Arentino's copy of the book with him when he's actually performing the Black Sacrament
I think the book spawns in those locations due to the fact it's a book centred around religion, and it would make sense for religous themed books to be found in the temples

(Not only is it a staggering distance, but from experience it’s also one of the most dangerous journeys you can make in Skyrim).
He did all that and he DIDN'T KILL GRELOD HIMSELF!?!
Yep - the propensity of bears, wolves and frostbite spiders on the road between The Rift and East March is insane - nevermind the main road passing by a giant camp and a dragon lair.
The simple explanation is - children are invincible and can’t be harmed! Haha

Agreed
I mean, that's not a bad thing, but Skyrim makes it a bad thing.

Though that would be a really evil questline for sure, haha.

technically the Riften bandit attacks are sort of referenced by the guards when they say "been too long since we've had a good bandit raid" so that can kind of be linked to that.
I was walking in solitude the other day, a guard said "psst I know who you are, hail sithis."
I knew all of these but I still watched. That's how charismatic you are.
Astrid does kind of hint that Cicero took longer than expected getting to the falkreath sanctuary.
Thank you for the effort of bringing new and new facts about the soon(ish) 10 years old game.

And "Mistveil Keep" is now "Mr. Bell keep" lmao
My theory about the black sacrament book is that Cicero knew that the orphans were being abused and casually gave them the book hoping one would run off and perform the ritual.
Brignolif is such a disrespectful npc, in my last playthrough I was talking to someone, and he just forcefully interrupted
Oh my heart🥰 I’ve never heard that conversation between Maramal and Dinya Balu
