You have no idea how happy this reaction made me today!! I follow several reaction pages and you are the first to react to Cher (pronounced like "Sher" NOT "chair" LOL). This woman is a cultural icon and national treasure, the ONLY female artist to have a number one hit in every decade since the 1960's! Not only has she excelled in music, but also in television and up on the big screen (complete with an Academy Award!!) She has had several "comebacks" since her debut in 1965 as one half of the duo Sonny & Cher, but 1998's "Believe" was the comeback of all comebacks, permanently cementing her place as a solo artist in pop culture history! When this song hit radio back in the late nineties nobody had ever heard anything like it, it was the first to use auto-tune and not only that, it reached the number one spot in several countries and introduced Cher to a multitude of new fans who had never heard of her before. Now in her seventies, she is still working hard and contributing to the arts. I saw her live on her most recent tour less than a year ago! She is a force of nature! And while many people have encouraged you to listen to "Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves" (which is a great, campy little story song), I would ask you to react to "Turn Back Time", "Heart of Stone" and "Song for the Lonely", three tracks that truly embody who she is, not only as an artist, but as a person. Thank you for this man, you made my day with you reaction!!
FUN FACT: Cher holds a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest female solo artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Cher also pioneered the use of Auto Tune software, which is now referred to as "the Cher effect".

Classic Cher and a huge comeback song for her in the late 1990's. I remember going to her concert at the Staples Center in LA and she performed this song. The audience went crazy. This is a club banger. Many artists, particularly on those singing contest shows, have tried to do slowed down versions of the song and turn it into a ballad. This is the original and the best. If you want more Cher, try a big song for her from the 1970's called "Half Breed."
Cher was 52 when this was released. In January 2011 she became the only artist to have a #1 song on a billboard chart in 6 different decades, with her song 'You Haven't Seen the Last of Me' reaching #1 on the Hot Dance Music/ Club Play chart.

Cher (pronounced Sher) started her career in the 60s with her husband, Sonny. Sonny and Cher had many hits but I Got You Babe was probably their biggest hit. A little history of this song: this was the first song that used auto tune, which is now widely used in today’s music. Cher’s singing voice is powerful without auto tune too.
This was a huge hit for Cher (pronounced like Share). The over cranked auto tune was well produced in the verses but later in the final choruses only. Check out her early hit with Sonny - “I’ve got you babe”. Love your reactions!

People were using it for ages? Auto tune was invented in 1997. Believe was recorded in 1998 and is indeed the first pop song to use auto tune.
@staircase2 Autotune was invented in 1997, by Andy Hildebrand, PhD. Before it, there were different voice altering techniques. Cher's 1998 "Believe" is one of the earliest uses of Autotune in music & is credited as the 1st use of Autotune to intentionally distort the voice (rather than to correct the voice). The resulting “part human synthesizer-part robotic voice” was dubbed “the Cher effect.” You can google "Cher Effect" for more info.
@staircase2 lol, for ages? 😂. Auto-Tune was invented a year prior to _Believe_ 🤣.
@@djdnyc78 yes correct. Thank you.
@@wnsafford1854 That’s right , thank you! 😎 I appreciate the added facts, it makes it even more fun.
Cher is not only musically talented, she is a great actress who won an Academy award! She’s done some good movies. I don’t know if you react to movies but you got a look up what Cher has done
How can you tell if she's musically talented when she has never sung live in her life?
Moonstruck! Such a good movie. The wonders of a Cher and Nicholas Cage combo.
I love Mask !
@@Atheist2006 Well did I see someone that was taking her place? Her concert was amazing, in Atlanta Georgia so what the hell are you talking about
@@deesee3622 me toooooo
Cher was 52 when she released this song! Not too shabby, she's 74 and can still rock it today!!!
@@marlonquintana3466 its life...
If you want more Cher, try a big song for her from the 1970's called "Half Breed."
she is probably the most iconic female performer ever
Cher is unbelievable in concert! 😁✌️
I’m jealous I bet she was amazing 🤩
Yes she is !!!! Seen her last May !!
I’ve always loved Cher, even from the 70’s God Bless Cher !!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I bet most of it was lipsync
I saw her twice. Believe and Farewell
Cher was 52 when this was released. In January 2011 she became the only artist to have a #1 song on a billboard chart in 6 different decades, with her song 'You Haven't Seen the Last of Me' reaching #1 on the Hot Dance Music/ Club Play chart.
You really Felt that song, that was genuine, and I felt your genuineness! When I was growing up Cher was not considered cool to listen to. But I think it's very cool to listen to her now. Her voice is amazing. She's also a very good actress. She was in fantastic movies. Check out her movies Jay!👌💕
J, check out her early songs "Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves and "Half Breed". She has sold over 100 million records. Diva, Legend, and Icon.
You might recognize I Got You Babe if you ever saw the movie Groundhog Day (it's on the radio every morning when he wakes up)
The purpose of autotune in this song is to create a NON-human effect, whereas many performers now use it for the opposite reason.
Man you definitely gotta check out I Got You Babe to see how far Cher has come. Still a great tune ngl but Cher became 20 times that
Her real name was cherilyn sarkisian that was her name became cher
Cher has been going strong since I was a kid....Her voice is AMAZING without auto tune. Love her!!!
This was a huge hit for Cher (pronounced like Share). The over cranked auto tune was well produced in the verses but later in the final choruses only. Check out her early hit with Sonny - “I’ve got you babe”. Love your reactions!
One of the greatest voices ever. She realased this at an age many artists are slowing down, but she was just reving up. I like a lot of her older stuff too which was more rock oriented. "If i could turn back time"(so controvertially sexy they would only play it late at night)"I found someone" and my fave "save up all your tears" are great ones
YOU ARE SO PREDICTABLE!🤣😂😂
I saw her in concert 3 years ago and she definitely sings live and completely flawlessly 😍 love her
It is autotune, but used for effect. One of the earliest use of it too!! 22 years on & it's still an absolute bop!
@@jenniferlindsay103 didn't know that
@@jenniferlindsay103 Autotune was invented in 1997, by Andy Hildebrand, PhD. Before it, there were different voice altering techniques. Roger Troutman used a custom made “Talk Box” (the Electro Harmonix), which connected through a synthesizer. Cher's 1998 "Believe" is one of the earliest uses of Autotune in music & is credited as the 1st use of Autotune to intentionally distort the voice (rather than to correct the voice). The resulting “part human synthesizer-part robotic voice” was dubbed “the Cher effect.”
That electronic distortion on her voice was the very first use of Autotune on a major recording like this.
There is no other voice like Cher's.
Yes, If I Could Turn Back Time. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Queen Diva can sing , she's a Icon !!
A Very Cool "Auditory-Fantasy" : )
Cher........ Great singer....Beautiful lady...........Such a recognisable voice...........Any song you listen to...... She's gonna be on your playlist! ❤️
cher is no joke, she is the voice
Your reaction always makes me take note of the music I grew up with and sometimes take for granted. But watching you discover someone as iconic as Cher for the first time, makes me appreciate what I sometimes forget.... what a great time of music that I was privileged to be born into. (And yes..I watched The Sonny and Cher Show as a kid)
Cher mainstreamed auto tune.
SO GLAD YOU COULD HEAR CHER, JAY. SHE DOESNT NEED AUTOTUNE. SHE'S JUST THAT GREAT!
You pronounce her name the same as the word 'share', Jay. Other Cher highlights include "The Music's No Good Without You", "Song for the Lonely", "The Shoop Shoop Song", and "If I Could Turn Back Time".
Cher had another great song in the eighties, If I could turn back time or the shoop shoop song from the nineties.
Yes! It's In His Kiss!
@@sharonpreston4925 that's where it is
Sonny and cher I got you babe.
As she was using autotunes she could’ve just used her voice but that was all the rage back in the day still is kinda
Only 1 Cher. All her songs and my fave movie. Moonstruck!
Peter Cetera and Cher -After All
Is a great song also!!
An amazing song :)
@@bonnielee78 yes it is Amazing it’s one of my favorites 😁
You should listen to Adam Lambert’s version of this...he performed it for her at the Kennedy Center Honors. It brought her to tears.
That version is totally out of the park. Awesome in the extreme.
@@dalebaker9109 It was so great, it made her cry!
@@carolyncappitelli1460 I totally understand why she did.
Adam did such an amazing cover
Of this!! Took me by surprise
Fyi Jayvee. Cher is pronounced like Share. Yea she is a super great singer. 👍👍👍👍👍
Go back to Sonny and Cher with their first hit "I've got you Babe" Another great popular song from Cher is Half Breed.
I've always liked I Got You Babe since I was a kid, I liked it even more when I heard part of it repeatedly played in Groundhog Day. Now it grabs me emotionally ever since I saw the UA-cam video of her and Sonny singing it when they reunited on the Johnny Carson Tonight Show.
Cher is a LEGEND. Oscar winning actress, singer, fashion icon. Her comeback song.
Gorgeous, almost 80!
Strong Enough was the next hit after this Another very empowering song. These two songs were pretty much the "I Will Survive" of the 90s.
