I love those old nav systems even tho they're crap lol
Same! Lol
Also, love the new Outro with the new rim videos. Those are Wicked on the X...
Thanks!
Nice! I'm actually thinking of buying a unit and modify it for something like a Raspberry. The problem is of course the lcd screen itself, which needs to be replaced. But it might exist screen which can be fitted with some modifications. The main goal is of course to preserve the original look of the unit.
Yep, sounds like a cool project
You should be able to give the nav unit a software update with a tech2 and a computer to enable Bose centerpoint.
For the European market there are 3 different part numbers and I don’t know for the US. But the two later ones, from 08 and up, are able to too activate the Bose centerpoint from a software update.
Thanks! I'll check it out
great video! thank you
Thanks for watching!
You probably need an updated nav dvd. I think they still make them.
You can get a modern Map disc from a different GM vehicle and pop it right into the Saab unit. The only drawback being that you may have to actually modify the head unit itself and take out a specific component and swap it with a GM generic one. However i've heard that this takes away the Saab logo from the display on startup and u get a Delphi screen instead.
yeah not worth it imo haha
Just watched your installation video and I can tell that you have missed one of the most important things which is this part number 12781884
Without it, the quality and the loudness of the sound won't be that great.
So, just install it and i am sure that you will get the best sound quality.
Outdated, eh? I still have a CD player/radio stereo in my 95 and I navigate with paper maps :P
Lol!
Oooo...paper maps? WAZE works rather well.
Heyyy ummm. I have a problem with my navigation (same as yours ) . It semi work. Aux and cd work but navigation and fm radio doesnt work , tech 2 doesnt even recognise there is the navigation . What it can be? What can i do to fix it? Tnx upfront
I think I have the one with Bose centerpoint. Im going to change to a other headunit.
Please email me or DM me!!

My '05 9-5 Aero has maps from 2013 or so. I think that was the last available update from GM for the 2005 9-5 model with Denso Nav though. Hopefully you get the correct head unit so you can actually enjoy the sound properly!
THanks!
我的萨博93导航里面没有XM这个选项,是需要再买什么设备吗?谢谢
They’re still nice to have regardless. Mine has the crappy old ICM3 and it’s still nice. The map isn’t the best looking one but it’s still better than nothing
yeah, those are super vintage!
LG phones with the built in HiFi DAC and DTS:X 3D surround sound makes for a great AUX source. It boosts volume levels. Sounds amazing in my '06 SC too, but that is a non Bose system with factory sub! 😝
Nice haha!
Question thinking of getting an OEM unit Saab 2010 convertible how complicated is to put the speed sensor I heard you have to put another clip on the other two clips that you don't use and run a wire all the way to the speed sensor module or computer next to your footrest
I didn’t do any of that. It’s probably not worth the work! All i did is what I showed in the install video :) there might be some forums that have some better info though
Sick vid, Can you see a movie/dvd with the Saab nav ?
no haha
@@AutoAutopsy just got my first Saab 93 so it would have been cool if it would work.
Not car related but was wondering if someone gave you a shiner on your right eye? It seems discolored compared to your other eye. And the video was informative. I don’t have a Saab but I always like to see features on other cars I don’t own.
lmao no, definitely not
Got to fit this unit in my 2008 aero also
Been sat here three months
Looks actually quite nice lol
I don't like non oem ones in the saabs
Some can look nice, but they have to be done right. I'm with you, OEM looks best!
Colin Parks - looking to install a Saab oem sat nav in my 2008 - can you tell me please the extra adapters / wiring I need - apart from the gps antenna which I know about ty👌😃
Wait, you said you liked the OEM look,... except for the rims,... right? J/K.
Lol 😂 you are right
I also have the bose button, but it doesnt change loudness, it only changes the surround. Maybe the nav is not configured for the bose amplifier.
There's something different about it. I'm not saying that pressing that bose button doubles the volume; rather, I'm missing that button and that's why it's the wrong unit for my car
@@AutoAutopsy Before physically changing your sat nav unit: Use a tech 2 to divorce and remarry your current unit. It may be an issue with the set up. I too installed a "non bose" sat nav unit into my 2008 9-3 but have no issues with sound. When I first installed it I selected the wrong speaker configuration with the tech 2 and sound quality was subpar. Once I went back in via tech 2 and redid the setup I overcame that issue.
Belsee makes some really oem looking 2 din navigation units for many car brands and i'm pretty sure they make ones for saabs as well
EDIT: Sadly they don't actually make anything for saab i just remembered wrong
ah :(
Not a super long term solution but you can use a GM disk with a little work: ua-cam.com/video/nspAyfxgIMA/v-deo.html
thanks for the idea
I wish there was an option to update the navigation!!
I heard on another Saab UA-camr's channel that you can get a new up to date GM disk and it will work.
@@tonyc.6205 Yep, it's possible. Check out some of my vids :)
You should definitely update north america next!!
Kinda surprised that it was not a BOSE feature that could be unlocked via TECH2? Is that confirmed? I would be amazed if they had two different head units, unless BOSE was introduced after the first head unit was designed?
The SAAB Logo on startup justifies the effort, until someone intros a mod for an android head unit that lets you post your own SAAB startup screen. :-)
I've been told different PN's
I would love to come to the Saab meet, but unfortunately I live all the way over in Sweden😒
:(
I think you could change the disk to a gmc one from like a 2014+
i don't think so :(
I realize this video is old, but I have the same NAV display, with centerpoint, and I have half volume as well, and I realize that you have since sold your Turbo X (very sad)!
I have! It was a great car
I'm pretty sure this is the exact same unit physically that's in the Tahoe/Suburban/Silverado/Sierra/Escalade/Avalanche/Enclave/Etc.
It's definitely similar, most likely different PN's
BTW the way, I have a 2008 Sportcombi and have owned nothing but a Saab since 1994. SPG, Classic 900, NG 900, 9-5, and now my Sport Combi
Nice :)
@@AutoAutopsy I am 52 and absolutely love that you have a passion for these cars being a next generation. Kudos my friend
Hit me up a frugalforme@gmail.com if you want
Thank you Chris, really appreciate that
Is it possible to take out the Nav function and replace it w a camera line? Don’t know if that’s the right terminology
i don't know
How's your AM signal? Mines was bad so I ordered a used antenna from ebay. Apparently these shark fin antennas go bad and cause corrosion. I'm in Canada btw.
I have never really used AM much, but it always works when i do! antenna might need to be replaced
@@AutoAutopsy Well just to update, I got my radio partially fixed and the AM/FM antenna is incorporated in the rear windsheild (2010 9-3). Apparently I wasn't getting power to the radio amp from the EH unit. The tech. wired the 'antenna enable' (pin 12) to 'remote enable' (pin 6). My FM signal increased drastically (more FM channels) but AM signal is still bad.
Usually double din units look so out of place in older interiors. I always prefer the factory units especially in the OG 9³ and 9-5.
That’s my thinking too! Although admittedly I have seen a couple that look close to factory
I think only certain aftermarket units makes the 9-3 dash look more modern.. I would’ve kept my unit if the nav worked.. and have Bluetooth and usb ..
@@AutoAutopsy i saw a black glass panel that covered the double din for a big part with the Saab letter logo underneath. That looked really good in that 9-5.
@@madsdekker305 Shellphant. I keep missing when he has those for sale. I want one.
What’s XM? (On the radio that you’re showing)
Satellite radio
I still purposely avoid cars with touch screens, when on the move i prefer the feel of buttons not a flat screen! It's why I'm quite happy with my 2005 Saab 93 and yes i chose the model without the inbuilt satnav. I have no regrets. More generally, manufacturers please bring back switches and buttons!
I rented a Cadillac XT5 a year ago. Hated the touch screen. Spent about 1/3 of the trip trying to adjust parameters. Love my stock unit. Can just use my phone for google maps. I don't need blue tooth either.
@@thingserik7269 i hear you, but it seems manufacturers are content on putting iPod screens in every car.
Some new cars move too many things to the infotainment, in my opinion, but this is a good amount and most can be done with the steering wheel buttons or buttons on the unit still
@@AutoAutopsy For those who get nostalgic like me, that's the right balance.
Yes totally agree ! hate touch screen systems - very distracting 😱
Does the onstar still work?
no, you gotta $$
you can update it to 2019 with a GM disc
Not the same as far as I'maware
@@AutoAutopsy Fair enough. Wasn't sure. Pretty excited to go to a U PULL salvage tomorrow that has a 2007 9-3 only on the lot 3 days in my area to see what I can salvage. Front end crash so should be many parts. PRICES are are crazy cheap. Example #1 ignition coil is $6.49. WHOLE front windshield is $30.
This is how you get updates. However, you will lose the ever so lovable Saab logo, to be replaced by "DELPHI", but at least you can update the map to 2016, and possibly 2019, when GM releases it, or maybe they have! ua-cam.com/video/nspAyfxgIMA/v-deo.html Saab buffs helping saab buffs!
👍👍👍
:)
I no longer have Nav in my 06. The DVD player died, and I removed it.
:(
I still have the head unit though.
Мечта!!! Может подарите ??? Русской семье?
Hi Auto
hi steve
Looking at the Saab satnav feels a bit like looking at the kind of thing that killed Saab. They spent money on something I'm glad I don't have in my car today.....I'd rather have an android head unit with a reversing camera.
*shrugs*
The complete lack of modern features could be forgiven if this HU wasn't selling for ridiculous prices.
