    What Saturn VUE part number, or year am I searching, for the nav control board? I'm considering getting a Saab 2 DIN nav display for my 07 Saab 9-3 2.0T, and would like to have a somewhat updated map. Thanks for the cool video!

    Thanks for your video, it's really helpful and informative. Now you really need to add rear OEM backup camera and front if you want also Apple car play or screen mirroring to make your vehicle too modern. Let me know if you need the required tools information.

      Thank you! I would love to add a back up camera but I'm stumped on activating it on the Saabs nav unit. Are you referring to the navtool unit? Not sure I can justify spending that much for those features though. www.navtool.com/saab-saab-9-3-2007-2012-hdmi-interface.aspx

    Update for all you guys trying this. I did the exact same thing, my Saturn unit happened to come with the updated disk in the video but I still get intermittent DVD map read error but I did get it to work briefly. There's a link in one of these videos for the aliexpress unit which should work. I accidentally damaged the ribbon cable that goes from the bottom to the DVD board and swapped that as well so now my unit at least works. Some things to note: Night Panel will not work anymore and it looks like I am unable to set time. Everytime I try and set the clock, it reverts back to 12:00. I did some brief reading and it may be a result of not having the GPS antenna but I won't know for sure until it arrives. Perhaps one of you can chime in? Also, if you're looking to keep the stock look but just want bluetooth, there is a BlueLogic device which takes over the XM input (if you have it) I can confirm it only works with the nav unit but it works and sounds great. There is a video on UA-cam of someone installing it in a Turbo X.

    Hey, really great vids. Do you have any idea what is controlling the boot screen logos? Would like to update mine, but I dont reeealy want to loose my Saab boot screen for a Delphi or god knows what from aliexpress...

    • @WeakestofWeeks
      @WeakestofWeeks  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks! I'm not entirely sure if the boot screen is based on the navigation module (swapped in this vid) or maybe by the disk? I would think more module related since when I first installed my Saab SatNav the navigation disk drive didn't work but still booted the Saab logo. It only changed once I swapped the nav module from the Saturn unit. I thought the Saturns booted with there logo and not Delphi though. Hopefully someone with more electronics experience can provide a solid answer.

      @@WeakestofWeeks There's got to be somebody out there with a flash hack to bring back the dear old Saab logo (most likely flashed in ROM). I'm thinking about purchasing a nav unit for my 07 2.0T sedan. Delphi doesn't bother me, but Saab is much more cool! And I like how you placed the nav antenna, smack on top of the unit in the dash! I wonder if an old XM magnetic antenna would work? I have one that I don't use. Great video!

    • @WeakestofWeeks
      @WeakestofWeeks  Рік тому +1

      Correct, you're limited to GM disk updates. It seems as if you may still be able to get updates for the factory disk if you're in Europe. At one point I stumbled on a website with more recent maps but sadly isn't for the United States folks. That's why I ended up modifying mine to use a GM disk.

      Yes, they wont "marry" to the car via tech2 once VIN locked. I want to try a factory unlocked GM satnav radio from say a buick (the truck variants are different) and see if that works. They're way over priced so I doubt I'll ever get to test that

    • @WeakestofWeeks
      @WeakestofWeeks  3 роки тому

      It's not about "needing" to update the radio. Of course there's more efficient ways to go about navigation these days since these cars were produced. This video was the product of an experiment to update the factory radio and keep the vehicle as stock looking as possible and it happened to work.

    Did you have to marry with tech 2

    • @WeakestofWeeks
      @WeakestofWeeks  2 роки тому

      If unplugging an already installed SatNav to fix a disk drive error and plugging back in you should not need to remarry to the car. However, if you're retrofitting a SatNav into the car that never had a SatNav you will need to marry with a tech 2.
