I have put frozen cauliflower rice in an air fryer dish , and cooked in the air fryer first before frying it. This helps with drying the cauliflower out.
I don't understand how people say they don't like the taste of cauliflower rice. With some turmeric and lemon I think it tastes better than regular rice.
Secret to cauliflower rice is to dry it out. When dry it absorbs whatever flavor. I’ll cook 6-8 packages and spread on baking sheet. Put in oven or just in fridge. Drastically reduces water. Makes great stir fry or Mexican rice
We had this tonight with scallops and asparagus. It was sooo good. My husband who never eats veggies had 3 helpings. Thank you for sharing the wonderful recipes.
My fave form of cauliflower rice (altho fresh is obvi best) is the vacuum pack stuff… I get the FullGreen brand from Walmart on the shelf … 100% cauliflower… I think in the canned veggies aisle. It has way less moisture than the frozen. Then I proceed to also dry in a skillet like here… takes less time. This week I made Nori rolls with it… 100% seaweed sheets are 1 carb and a huge source of iodine and b12. I also think adding sauteed onion with it covers any funky flavor… cheers people :)
There are actual reasons for avoiding soy, just as there are reasons for avoiding seed oils and many other things we should avoid. Soy's phytoestrogens have been linked to issues with thyroid function, cancers and tumors (especially thyroid, breast and uterine), and infertility. Soy interferes with absorption of minerals and digestion of protein. And it can be toxic to the liver. It's hardly like the "microwave is the devil" joke and it's not such a "little thing" to someone already suffering from thyroid or digestive issues or infertility. But, yes, she's absolutely spot on about the carrots.
I love cauliflower. I eat it raw with salt and lemon or lightly cooked (3-5 min in boiling water) with olive oil, salt and either lemon juice or vinegar. Delicious. I don't like it at all if it's cooked for more than 5min. haven't tried it as a rice substitute yet.
I microwave cauliflower rice to make hot. Then stir in some butter and season it. Tastes great as a side or base onto which a chicken and bacon casserole can be dumped. My guests are surprised how good everything is.
This tasted great, I started looking into cauliflower today because of its low calorie. The 2 eggs might have added 150-160 calories BUT! As a whole this dish would have been more with regular rice and I’ve been eating too much white rice as of late. I left the sugar out and still tasted sweet, probably the carrots doing its thing.
Typically sesame seed oil is added at the end of food preparation due to it loosing flavor when cooked. When you made this dish did your oil lose flavor?
Didn’t know that about salt. I’m not low carb or keto, but had to change my diet drastically 3 weeks ago after developing hives and histamine intolerance. I ate nothing but veggies and some chicken (and oats, once) for a couple of weeks. Then one evening last week, I felt weak and had a weird headache so I feared my blood pressure might be going up from all the salt I was using on my veggies since it was the only way I could flavor my food. I checked my blood pressure and it was 80/60. I was afraid my adrenals or thyroid might be failing. But I also felt low blood sugar. This explains it.
Made two of your recipes today, Annie. Your Sesame Ginger Asian Meatballs and BBQ Cheeseburger Meatloaf. I didn't intend to make 2 recipes with ground meat n the same day, but you know how it goes. Got the pork out and defrosted it Thursday for Friday and got the pre-made meatloaf out to defrost on Friday for today (Sat). Didn't get the meatballs made yesterday so here I am. No complaints, though! I like both recipes so I'm a happy camper! Thanks!
Check out saltt from the makers of keto chow... double the electrolytes of lmnt, and it's cheaper per stick...about 1.00 a serving and you can buy variety packs too... no need to spend 117.00
If you can't afford or don't want to pay for LMNT, they publish their very simple recipe on their website so you can make your own which is exactly like their plain version.
I made this recipe without the egg to use as a veg with meat sauce. It was great. There was some left so I had it this morning with scrambled egg added - it was delicious. Thank you very much! Carol UK
I just made this fried cauli rice adding a package of ground turkey, browned. It's really good! Now a question...if I dehydrated the riced cauli in a food dehydrator, would it not smell when rehydrated?
The rice cauliflower I’ve tried (and everything else cooked with cauliflower) tastes just like cauliflower. I like cauliflower … raw with ranch dip. I’ll give this a try and see what happens.
Hi Annie! This looks great. I have frozen cauliflower rice from Sprouts. Should I defrost the cauliflower rice first? Or should I add the frozen cauliflower rice to the pan? Thank you ever so much. Happy new year.
No, add the frozen cauliflower to the pan. Cook it until all of the moisture is cooked off or almost cooked off since you might be adding other veggies that need to be cooked. It will get fluffy as it cooks. Stir it frequently too
Always enjoy and appreciate your vidoes, thank you so much. Have used several of your recipes. Question, I'm in New Zealand, how do we get LMNT here, I've not been successful when I've tried.❤
This didn't turn out great for me, I was really disappointed. With such little liquid to work with, the vegetables barely cooked and I had to 'dry out' the cauliflower for so long that it left a kind of dried out smell, on the cauliflower itself and nevermind the veg's not cooking. Next time I am going to pre-steam my veggies for a few minutes before adding them to the dried out cauliflower.
I don't know if I've been buying the wrong sesame oil or what , but it tastes bitter. I tried 2 different kinds and had to throw out 2 recipes. Can I ask what brand you use ? Thank you so much !
There are two varieties. Regular and Toasted. The "rule" is that you'd use regular for any cooking, but toasted for finishing. I only ever use toasted. It gives things a nice, warm flavor, but you just use small amounts.
I'm confused. Most people eat cauliflower rice because it's healthier so your solution is to basically make it unhealthy fried rice? I feel like the title is deceptive because you're turning it from rice into a different dish.
I don’t understand the reasoning here why waste time drying the cauliflower out of you anyway will then add veggies which have lots of water content in them and the soggy eggs 😃 the eggs will anyway stink of eggs and remove any cauliflower smell .. the drying makes no sense .. rest I guess it’s a simple friend rice using cauliflower
I don't think saying 'fart' etc about food is appealing. Bad language or comparing cauliflower to a smelly sock or 'funk', is just uncalled for. Vulgar language is unnecessary in a food programme. Calling soya sauce like the devil?
Cruciferous vegetables, which include cauliflower, do smell like farts. It's not unnecessary to mentiom that because she is expressly telling us that there is a way to make it more palatable (since it's really popular on a keto diet and its a healthy veggie). She's making a joke about the soy sauce being the devil because a lot of keto people act like fundamentalist nutcases on what is "keto" and isn't. Soy is supposedly bad for us according to those people (unless you have a food sensitivity or allergy to soy, it's really fine).

I love using the nori to make my keto sushi, as well as rolling up tuna salad. Great alternative to even the best keto bread.
Never heard of that brand. Now I'm going to get some since it's shelf stable. Thanks!
Toasted sesame oil is usually used as a seasoning and added last...therefore fry with avocado oil.
🤮 Avocado
Cauliflower is one of my fave veggies. It’s sooo good
I like your sense of humor about carrots and soja sauce, some people are too serious about little things
There are actual reasons for avoiding soy, just as there are reasons for avoiding seed oils and many other things we should avoid.

Good point!
We tried this the other night. Hubby LOVES the “dry fry method.” He has even asked to have “that delicious cauliflower rice again tonight!”
I like to blot the cauliflower with a paper towel while pan frying to help get the moisture out.
Have you thought about sweating it ? (Like how Zucchini is done)

FYI Kikkoman do a gluten free soy sauce which is zero sugar and lower carbs than the regular soy
The problem isn't gluten - it's the soy itself. Coconut aminos are a much healthier choice and actually taste better in foods.
