    • 10 KETO FOODS YOU SHOU...
    Egg Bites:
    12 slices salami
    12 eggs
Sprinkle 2 T feta cheese in each
    season with salt
Bake at 400 degrees F for 15 minutes.
Here is another egg bite recipe you might enjoy: www.ketofocus.com/recipes/ket...
    Chopped Italian Salad:
    For the dressing mix:
    ½ cup olive oil
    ¼ cup red wine vinegar
    1 tablespoon dijon mustard
    ½ teaspoon oregano
    ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
    pinch of salt
Add chopped lettuce, tomato, cucumber, kalamata olive, salami.
    Mushroom Chicken Casserole:
24 oz skinless, boneless chicken thighs, cut into bite sized pieces
    ½ cup chicken broth
    8 oz sliced mushrooms
    ½ red onion, sliced
    2 tablespoons olive oil
    1 teaspoon salt
    ½ teaspoon black pepper
    ½ teaspoon dried thyme
    8 oz cream cheese, cubed
    1 whole garlic bulb
    8 oz Kaizen Ziti Pasta
    5 oz baby spinach leaves
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
In a large casserole dish, toss together diced chicken, chicken broth, mushrooms, red onion, olive oil, salt, pepper and thyme.
Scatter cubed cream cheese around the dish.
Cut the top of the garlic to expose the cloves. Nestle the garlic bulb into the center of the casserole dish. Drizzle olive oil on top of the garlic bulb. Cover dish with aluminum foil.
Bake at 400 degrees F for 35-40 minutes or until chicken is cooked through and garlic is softened.
Meanwhile, cook pasta according to package instructions. This pasta tends to crumble and break if overcooked. So only cook for 5-6 minutes (per instructions). Drain pasta, rinse with cold water and set aside.
After baking, remove garlic bulb. Stir in spinach leaves right away to allow for hot casserole to wilt the spinach. If casserole looks dry, stir in some hot chicken broth until smooth.
Once cool enough to handle, squeeze the roasted garlic cloves into a bowl and mash.
Stir the roasted garlic and pasta into the casserole. Season with more salt and pepper if necessary.

I've done keto and IF bit also have moved to higher protein. Ive always loved your content and fabulous recipes! Adding salami to my grocery list because yum! Those egg bites look amazing! And so does the salad! At 60 years old I can testify that it gets so much harder to lose weight as we age. Upping the protein makes a world of difference!

Thank you! I've been trying to be carnivore for at least 8 months -- not very successfully. It's just too restrictive. This video was exactly what I needed. Silly me, I needed a reminder that eating vegetables, olive oil, and even lupin pasta is okay. Immediately I felt relieved and went out and bought ingredients to make the chopped salad. I love your sense of humor and realness. Keeps me coming back.

    • @mistyriennett5902
      @mistyriennett5902 29 днів тому +4

Same, about the carnivore. For me it has been 3 months. My issue is I'm a gardener and I eat my vegetables from my garden and garden season's coming up in my region and this summer I will be eating my garden so I guess I'll be ketovore. One thing I do realize about being carnivore and not having all the inflammation or the pain I will not ever go back to processed foods. I will incorporate my veggies though and fruit.

    • @laurel1634
      @laurel1634 27 днів тому +3

@@mistyriennett5902 Agree about how carnivore makes me feel. I have more energy, my mood lifts, bloat goes away, all those great things. But meat and eggs all the time tastes "dark" to me so, adding a few tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, fresh herbs, green onions, etc "brightens" up flavor. Gardening is fun so it hard to give up fresh veggies.

I loved this! I think i'm going to try the pasta dish but just peel and separate my garlic cloves beforehand. That whole putting the whole thing in there with the outer layer is just making more work for yourself. Just peel the garlic and sprinkle them in the dish and they will soften into a paste even faster and you won't have to pick 'garlic peel' out your dish. I do this when I bake leg of lamb or a roast and it never fails me. lol

Definitely going to try your chopped salad. My husband loves an Italian style salad, so if I do what you suggested and mix the dressing and toppings separately, then keep some bags of chopped lettuce, he’ll like that he can make his own, without the lettuce getting wilted.
And yes, I always have some salami or pepperoni on hand for a quick protein snack.

Perfect thank you! I am a terrible cook and have been looking for a high protein breakfast that I don't have to make a big mess in the morning. I thought about muffins but couldn't figure out time and temperature. I'm looking forward to trying these tomorrow am :) At 68 I started keto and lost 30 lbs but I also lost all muscle and strength. I've learned that I need 140 gms per day which seems astronomical to me so I'm emphasizing protein over carbs and fat in order to get enough calories.

When I need roasted garlic whole in a dish, I prepare it first a little. Whack it root side down on the counter top to help loosen the cloves...if still too compact, whack the top part as well. The point is to loosen the cloves, not remove them...something I learned here in Spain. Microwave it in 30 sec increments until there is a little give when you squeeze the head of garlic...then add it to whatever for baking/roasting in the oven. BUT, be sure to drizzle a little olilve oil on the top as this will help it roast quicker and better. To get the cloves out, you could press the head between two smallish cutting boards and scrape up the pulp. I can handle a lot of heat and so can squeeze out by hand, but in a hurry, the two board trick is indeed quicker.

Then I pour the mixture in a large greased baking pan and cook. After 30 minutes or so, I have an egg soufflé. I let it cool a bit and cut it into abut 9 portions that I can eat all week.

I always roast my garlic for an hour. I don't understand why your recipe said half an hour. But it looks like you knew it was needed! The way I cook it is to drizzle it with olive oil and herbs and wrap it tightly in tinfoil and then roast it. I understand that doesn't get the garlic into the vegetables but it does work and is yummy especially as a spread

I lost 26 lbs in 5 months this way two years ago and have kept it off, mostly. I weigh 107 now at age 82 and 5 ft tall. I rarely feel cravings or even hungry when I stick to this diet plan. How n earth do you keep cholesterol down? I find it hard to balance protein to fat. I’ve been doing Keto since end of Feb and have lost 14 pounds. But I find it hard to cut the fat and worry about high cholesterol that the strictness of choices to keep it under 20 NC and stay satiated.

I can’t do too much protein. I do great on 60-80% fat, 20-35% protein, 5 % carbs. Tried carnivore for 60 days religiously. Lost 3 lbs. Yeah 3 lbs. Turns out some of us turn protein into glucose. Several friends have done great with carnivore/ketovore. Not me though. And I like my avocados, cabbage, asparagus, salads, etc

You should always wash mushrooms first. They don't absorb much water and you are going to cook them anyway. They are grown in sterilized manure and have bits of it on them.

I have been Carnivore for about 2 years . Lost 76 pounds the first 10 months then reached a plateau. Haven’t lost another ounce. I have tried the eat your goal weight in protein grams! I also tried the calculated .6 x your goal weight and eat that in grams of protein. NEITHER WORKS!
I still need to lose 50 pounds. I’m tired of the whole thing. I’m 75 & don’t have that much longer to do this. I also been told just eat meat until satiated. I get full quickly. Didn’t work either. 🤯

IDK how long you've been on a plateau, but sometimes you just have to wait out your body. Take measurements all over... biceps, wrists, calves, thighs, waist, hips, neck, chest, etc. Literally anywhere you ca6put a tape, measure it weekly & note the #s. When I was stuck, my doc had me do that... I wasn't losing lbs on the scale, but my body was redefining itself, moving weight around, toning itself, & whatnot. According to my doc, it was also testing me to see if I would stick to my diet, as I'd dieted b4 without staying power (LOL). I'm not gonna lie & say it only took a month or two to start losing again, bc it took about 6,which was awful TBH... but once I started losing again, it was like in the beginning again 10#, 10#, 5#, etc
I'd go by how you're feeling more than anything... do you feel good eating this way?
      Do you have more energy?
Do you have less inflammation or symptoms of whatever?
If so, maybe stay the course, bc the diet could be giving you more benefits than you can imagine...
Do you have an accountability partner or friend who encourages you on your journey? My doc was mine, & I've found that makes all the difference in the world... this time, I'm doing it solo, it's 100% harder without having someone in your corner who not only keeps you honest, but encourages you when you're feeling frustrated.

Understand more carnivore, that is where I am. No sugar, min carbs but I enjoy veggies. A lot of avocados. Still OMAD and eat 4 to 5 pm for 1500 Cals with 3 hour workout, 8.5 mile walk/run for 2 hours, .5 hr stretching and .5 lifting. Everyday.

It is hard to eat again sometimes when I get a lot of protein in one meal. I think that’s also why a lot of people tend to intermittent fast this way. I just worry that I might not be getting enough in. How much protein do you eat a day?

Have my physical in may, not sure my synthetic thyroid med is working, that may need to change. Oh 1500 calories, fills me up if it carefully manage and eat slowly over the hour

Hello from a first time viewer who lives in Southern Oregon. 😁 I don’t like to eat meat, as animals are so diseased nowadays, but I’ve found it’s very difficult to get enough protein without eating flesh food. I don’t know 🤷‍♀️ how vegetarians or vegans accomplish getting enough protein. I’ve intentionally lost 31 lbs in the last 9 months by counting calories. I no longer count calories. I also fast by eating a very light breakfast (banana, peanut butter and a mug of herb tea) and a medium sized lunch (a turkey sandwich w/a few veggies on my sandwich, and sometimes a serving of mashed potatoes [redskins with the skins left on] and a cooked vegetable). Then I don’t eat again until breakfast the next day. I’ve been opposed to Keto because of its high fat content. And now, intermittent fasting is falling into disapproval. What’s a woman to do? It seems there is no ideal manner of eating… 😮 smh 🤦‍♀️ P.S. I am very allergic to eggs, have severe IBS and Fructose Malabsorption. I can’t exercise because of severe Osteoarthritis and orthopedic problems due to that condition. 😳

Watching you make the salad & then making the next meal with the spinach... You might want to look up oxalates in your food.. Spinach has 755 oxalates in it and 99.9 % of these Veggies we ( well not me) are eating were only invented in the last couple hundred years & they are not meant to eat :( Some people have it so bad when they oxalate dump it can come out of their tear ducks :( trust me do a complete elimination diet and add veggies back in you will find out that lots of veggies cause inflammation & other problems that you wouldn't notice if you didn't eliminate them..
