    You are one of my top favorite keto personalities, and I’m glad that you’re not caught up in the fasting and that you are now going higher protein, which are my goals as well. Trying to skip breakfast in the morning always made me feel terrible, so I can’t wait to see how adding it back in is going to help everything.

    I've done keto and IF bit also have moved to higher protein. Ive always loved your content and fabulous recipes! Adding salami to my grocery list because yum! Those egg bites look amazing! And so does the salad! At 60 years old I can testify that it gets so much harder to lose weight as we age. Upping the protein makes a world of difference!

    Thank you! I've been trying to be carnivore for at least 8 months -- not very successfully. It's just too restrictive. This video was exactly what I needed. Silly me, I needed a reminder that eating vegetables, olive oil, and even lupin pasta is okay. Immediately I felt relieved and went out and bought ingredients to make the chopped salad. I love your sense of humor and realness. Keeps me coming back.

    • @mistyriennett5902

      Same, about the carnivore. For me it has been 3 months. My issue is I'm a gardener and I eat my vegetables from my garden and garden season's coming up in my region and this summer I will be eating my garden so I guess I'll be ketovore. One thing I do realize about being carnivore and not having all the inflammation or the pain I will not ever go back to processed foods. I will incorporate my veggies though and fruit.

    • @laurel1634
      @laurel1634 7 місяців тому +6

      @@mistyriennett5902 Agree about how carnivore makes me feel. I have more energy, my mood lifts, bloat goes away, all those great things. But meat and eggs all the time tastes "dark" to me so, adding a few tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, fresh herbs, green onions, etc "brightens" up flavor. Gardening is fun so it hard to give up fresh veggies.

    • @SRose-vp6ew
      @SRose-vp6ew Місяць тому

      It seems the observed general progression goes weight loss with keto, followed by muscle gain with upping the protein. Too much protein when you’re not working out will slow results, not upping the protein when you start to work out will slow the gains. Sometimes people think advice is contradictory, it’s not it’s just in its correct season and for the right audience. I noticed once I actually got into my perfect BMI I started to look scrawny on keto and I needed to add more protein, a tad more carbs(carb cycling with sweet potatoes, not M&Ms) and lifting weights.

    • @SRose-vp6ew
      @SRose-vp6ew Місяць тому

      The advice for people not to take too much protein and make sure that they’re doing actual keto macros when they’re trying to just lose that weight and stay satiated still still stands. It literally depends on what part of the journey you’re on.

    I loved this! I think i'm going to try the pasta dish but just peel and separate my garlic cloves beforehand. That whole putting the whole thing in there with the outer layer is just making more work for yourself. Just peel the garlic and sprinkle them in the dish and they will soften into a paste even faster and you won't have to pick 'garlic peel' out your dish. I do this when I bake leg of lamb or a roast and it never fails me. lol

I lost 26 lbs in 5 months this way two years ago and have kept it off, mostly. I weigh 107 now at age 82 and 5 ft tall. I rarely feel cravings or even hungry when I stick to this diet plan. I have lots of chicken and fish and mostly sustainably raised, organic not processed foods. Very satisfying. p.s. I have very low self discipline, yet this works for me.

    When I need roasted garlic whole in a dish, I prepare it first a little. Whack it root side down on the counter top to help loosen the cloves...if still too compact, whack the top part as well. The point is to loosen the cloves, not remove them...something I learned here in Spain. Microwave it in 30 sec increments until there is a little give when you squeeze the head of garlic...then add it to whatever for baking/roasting in the oven. BUT, be sure to drizzle a little olilve oil on the top as this will help it roast quicker and better. To get the cloves out, you could press the head between two smallish cutting boards and scrape up the pulp. I can handle a lot of heat and so can squeeze out by hand, but in a hurry, the two board trick is indeed quicker.

    While low carb will absolutely create weight loss, in my case, and I did it for years, It caused increased cholesterol and blood pressure. I am now plant based focusing more on fiber and my system is regular, I am less angry and no longer stress about food but rather love fruits, veggies, and I am not killing other beings to support my life. I no longer need to DIET at all. Lift weights, eat fresh Whole Foods and stop focusing on food. After all, being overweight and needing to diet is very much a privileged problem. There are many countries who don’t have to worry about this at all because they don’t have excess in their life.

      IDK how long you've been on a plateau, but sometimes you just have to wait out your body. Take measurements all over... biceps, wrists, calves, thighs, waist, hips, neck, chest, etc. Literally anywhere you ca6put a tape, measure it weekly & note the #s. When I was stuck, my doc had me do that... I wasn't losing lbs on the scale, but my body was redefining itself, moving weight around, toning itself, & whatnot. According to my doc, it was also testing me to see if I would stick to my diet, as I'd dieted b4 without staying power (LOL). I'm not gonna lie & say it only took a month or two to start losing again, bc it took about 6,which was awful TBH... but once I started losing again, it was like in the beginning again 10#, 10#, 5#, etc
      I'd go by how you're feeling more than anything... do you feel good eating this way?
      Do you have more energy?
      Do you have less inflammation or symptoms of whatever?
      If so, maybe stay the course, bc the diet could be giving you more benefits than you can imagine...
      Do you have an accountability partner or friend who encourages you on your journey? My doc was mine, & I've found that makes all the difference in the world... this time, I'm doing it solo, it's 100% harder without having someone in your corner who not only keeps you honest, but encourages you when you're feeling frustrated.

    you added 33 g of protein from salami but didn't eat the whole salad. did you add protein elsewhere in your lunch?
    also wash your food before dumping into the dish. i realise the bag of spinach says ready to eat but it really should be washed

    I was so excited when I first discovered Lupin pasta.......I rushed and bought 3 different types. To my dismay I discovered I can't tolerate it. I ended up with a terrible stomach ache and bloating like I have never experienced in my life. My heart was broken because I have really missed pasta....but I will have to continue to go through life pastaless. 😢 But yaaaaaaay egg bites. I'm making a bunch of those puppies tomorrow. You look wonderful btw.

    I cant eat eggs. Dont know exactly why but I had shingles right as I was finishing going into lenopause. 3 years almost into menopause, and every time I eat eggs I am in severe pain for 3-4 hours! I want some good recipes that can help me eat breakfast with protien, without eggs! Do you have any siggestions? I am in my early 50's, I only take one thyroidedication, and have no other known health issues.
    I have gained too much this past winter, and am craving only sugar. I think I will watch more of your videos! Thank You!

      It is hard to eat again sometimes when I get a lot of protein in one meal. I think that’s also why a lot of people tend to intermittent fast this way. I just worry that I might not be getting enough in. How much protein do you eat a day?

      @KetoFocus understand, body hasn't broken down yet with injuries yet, I have hit a plateau on weight loss at 220, so considering a 72 hour fast in a week or two. Have my physical in may, not sure my synthetic thyroid med is working, that may need to change. Oh 1500 calories, fills me up if it carefully manage and eat slowly over the hour

    Perfect ❤ as a doctor I advise you to avoid processed meat like salami as much as you can since they are carcinogenic. They raise the risk for colon cancer... Good luck ❤

    Hello from a first time viewer who lives in Southern Oregon. 😁 I don’t like to eat meat, as animals are so diseased nowadays, but I’ve found it’s very difficult to get enough protein without eating flesh food. I don’t know 🤷‍♀️ how vegetarians or vegans accomplish getting enough protein. I’ve intentionally lost 31 lbs in the last 9 months by counting calories. I no longer count calories. I also fast by eating a very light breakfast (banana, peanut butter and a mug of herb tea) and a medium sized lunch (a turkey sandwich w/a few veggies on my sandwich, and sometimes a serving of mashed potatoes [redskins with the skins left on] and a cooked vegetable). Then I don’t eat again until breakfast the next day. I’ve been opposed to Keto because of its high fat content. And now, intermittent fasting is falling into disapproval. What’s a woman to do? It seems there is no ideal manner of eating… 😮 smh 🤦‍♀️ P.S. I am very allergic to eggs, have severe IBS and Fructose Malabsorption. I can’t exercise because of severe Osteoarthritis and orthopedic problems due to that condition. 😳

    What kind of salami do you get? Do you find you have uric acid levels because of the salami? I love salami but I’ve had gout issues that have been triggered by salami.
