"True character": A car thief who had complete disregard for the safety of anybody & everybody around him. He could have killed so many people by his reckless actions, instead of stopping and handing himself over to Police. That grub's "true character" is underscored by the fact he only stopped when he crashed. Next. "Selflessness". The only act of selflessness this individual showed was when he died, thus saving the taxpayer a huge ongoing sum to incarcerate him now & all the other expenses he would have incurred over his life. Good riddance.😐
If police chases are called off, it becomes clear to future deadbeats they may make a clean getaway. Then you waste the time of detectives trying to find the offenders.
Actually, there have been a couple of studies done on this and they showed the opposite of what you've assumed. Just like speed limits don't actually reduce road trauma.
There are a lot of communications spent on stating speed and direction of pursuit vehicles. Wouldn't it be better to have all pursuit vehicles GPS tracked (via callsign), so that communication centre don't have to keep asking and can get a live feed, and provide the relevant backup and let those in pursuit can get on with it?

Saw this, the corners findings. Unbiased before id even seen the findings, I found myself thinking the same things. No one took charge of the pursuit, there was a pitiful amount of information sharing (esp in this day and age where information should be shared automatically, digitally). The initial chase had officers hesitant to do 20km/h over the limit on quiet streets, yet the second chase they were doing 150kph, wrong side of the road in busy areas... The penalty for burglary is not death. It certainly shouldn't be the death of innocent bystanders! The pursuit should have been called off. There seemed to be more than enough footage of the criminals to catch them later.
@@BadDriversOfTheIllawarra im more upset that 10 seconds later the cop on the bike is doing excess of 130kph without strobe lights or sirens. @@cmelft2463 his lights were on, just not his siren. As a motorcyclist myself I can confirm that our ability to use our ears and hear things that are going on around us is really what helps keep us safe. I imagine he turned off his siren so he could hear the other units sirens(to locate the pursuit and know if he is heading in the correct direction), plus listen to the sound of the radio, his bike(always listen to what it’s telling you) and the surroundings, to safety continue. I think that is perfectly reasonable.
Obviously law enforcement professionals swearing etc is not acceptable, however, I feel like we do have to cut him some slack. Putting myself in his shoes, the Adrenalin is pumping, you know there is a crazy pursuit happening, your senses are on really high alert(being not only in a high speed chase, but on a bike), and your senses are overwhelmed with focusing on survival and the job. Obviously he was focused on what was happening, and didn’t have the brain power devoted to censoring himself and what he was saying. A kind of situation where it just slips out in the heat of battle. And I know if it was me who was being sworn at, I’d give that officer a free pass knowing that he’s putting his life on the line for the community without a second thought. I can also sleep well at night knowing that with all the noise, sirens and chaos going on around them, the driver probably didn’t hear the swearing anyway…
