@Matthew Cycling : In SE Asia it is mandatory to have a dashcam with certain insurance companies. No dashcam = no insurance. That may happen in Oz as well. It's possible that the video has been "leaked" onto the Internet by an insurance employee, not the camcar driver.

A cyclist almost killed himself on my bonnet one day. I was crossing two lanes of traffic in congestion, both lanes gave way to me as they were in stop start traffic anyway. A cyclist was riding down the middle of the stopped cars and went straight into the front side of my car as I crossed. Tried to blame me for his stupidity. This was long before lane splitting was allowed for bikes in traffic.
But also, if the next line over is full of stopped cars, slow the fuck down until you can safely figure out why! Chances are pretty high that not doing so risks an accident.

As a motorcyclist this is one of the most dangerous things you can do and the cause of many crashes as people change lanes as they want to get into the free lane.
Yup. High speeds through intersections and past stationary/slowing vehicles was a common theme in this compilation. Slow down when approaching a busy intersection or anywhere that's busy that you might need to stop at a short distance. It isn't rocket science
Also, from someone who lives in a city with a ton of red light runners: you NEVER want to be the first one to jump right into an intersection after the light turns green if you can at all help it. Slowly accelerate and look around while proceeding.

I see this all the time. There are too many "Good Samaritan" drivers on the road creating situations like this, thinking they are doing their good deed for the day. I'm talking about the car in the left lane. They give way when they should not. They create dangerous situations for pedestrians and other drivers. Encouraging kids to cross the road in front of you is stupid. Kids trust adults. My sister spent a week in hospital 35 years ago due to ignorant drivers in the same sort of situation.

They will go in the left hand lane that is ending shortly and slam on the acelerator to try and get in front of you, causing you to slam on your brakes to avoid an accident. Undertaking in most countries around the World is ILLEGAL. This shit infuriates me. Why didn't the car just slow down and go behind? They were about level, and the car in the right hand lane has priority. Why do you think he should have slowed down to let them in? I think they were both pricks. The 4WD driver is trying to pull ahead at the very last part of the merge lane to get ahead. Usually to get someone to let you in you need to give them a bit more notice than that. It should never be a "desperation merge" where you're running out of road. But once it was apparent the truck was coming over, the dash cammer could've avoided the accident by braking and pulling back. Two stubborn idiots who refused to budge an inch because they just HAD to have that coveted spot behind the white Subaru.

Two things I learned: 1) Be extra careful around traffic lights. 2) Beware the blind spot when turning across two lanes. BTW, I was surprised by some of the bad behaviour after the accidents.

Best bet is to not stop when the car infront of you is going. Biggest issue is the car in the lane next to you. Both them and the pedestrian can’t see each other especially if there a line of cars behind you. You look like an idiot but it is safer

I see this all the time. There are too many "Good Samaritan" drivers on the road creating situations like this, thinking they are doing their good deed for the day. I'm talking about the car in the left lane. They give way when they should not. They create dangerous situations for pedestrians and other drivers. Encouraging kids to cross the road in front of you is stupid. Kids trust adults. My sister spent a week in hospital 35 years ago due to ignorant drivers in the same sort of situation.

They will go in the left hand lane that is ending shortly and slam on the acelerator to try and get in front of you, causing you to slam on your brakes to avoid an accident. Undertaking in most countries around the World is ILLEGAL. This shit infuriates me. Why didn't the car just slow down and go behind? They were about level, and the car in the right hand lane has priority. Why do you think he should have slowed down to let them in? Why shouldn't the car in the left lane slow down and just go behind?

I think they were both pricks. The 4WD driver is trying to pull ahead at the very last part of the merge lane to get ahead. Usually to get someone to let you in you need to give them a bit more notice than that. It should never be a "desperation merge" where you're running out of road. But once it was apparent the truck was coming over, the dash cammer could've avoided the accident by braking and pulling back. Two stubborn idiots who refused to budge an inch because they just HAD to have that coveted spot behind the white Subaru.

Two things I learned: 1) Be extra careful around traffic lights. 2) Beware the blind spot when turning across two lanes. BTW, I was surprised by some of the bad behaviour after the accidents.

Best bet is to not stop when the car infront of you is going. Biggest issue is the car in the lane next to you. Both them and the pedestrian can’t see each other especially if there a line of cars behind you.

I find this fairly terrifying. I usually think of accidents as caused by a series of unforeseen or unavoidable incidents or mistakes but honestly most of these seem to be caused by blinding incompetence. How did these folks get a driving license?
