I'm a fan of rap music, I heard this song when I was a kid on the radio, I've looked for this song and band for 20 years. I didn't know the name of the band or words to the song. Just the melody. Found it today. Brings me back to my childhood. Emotional reunion. This band is slept on! They are epic
Man, that guitar tone with that chunky bass is just sooo soaring and epic, can't get enough of it. These guys deserved far more success than they ultimately attained. What an amazing synergy of musicianship and some of the most majestic vocals in all of rock. Progressive metal is indebted to these legends.
I remember 30 years ago, sitting in front of the TV with the VCR on Pause + rec waiting for MTv to play my favorite videos and then be able to watch them whenever I want. Today's children will never know that feeling of seeing the videoclip start, that one you have been waiting hours, maybe days, and then hitting the REC button with eternal happiness
This is on my play list and I rock it EVERYDAY, multiple times. I'm stuck in the 80's and ALWAYS will be...!!! I'm 56 and will be rocking this when I'm 86, IF I'm still kicking... 🤘🤘🤘
This is a masterpiece. Every part is perfect. It's over 5 minutes long and yet it's gripping from the first note to the last. That guitar solo always reminded me a little of "Stairway To Heaven" has that same kinda epic melody and tone. Everything you love about rock music in one amazing track! The whole "Empire" album is Queensrÿche at their best I think.
The new Mr. Bungle brought me back to the 1980's era old school metal & hopefully they tour this year or next year unless drummer 🥁 Dave Lombardo will be busy with Testament band
Guitar work on this song is exceptional. DeGarmo's solo is not flashy, instead, he builds suspense and drama with excellent feeling for bends and pauses, and it sounds absolutely fantastic.
Yes! You explained it so well! I love how they were always about playing what served and enhanced the song, and not just showing off. So many decent songs are ruined by an over-the-top guitar solo that, musically, has very little connection to the song itself. They had such a good feel for building a song's intensity and drama, and then counter--pointing with a softer, melodic section that just elevated the whole song! I LOVE them!! And how I miss all of them being together!
Hand on Heart is another song on this record with a seriously great solo - even when you hear the song fade out at the very end the solo is just amazing
This solo is a master class in the fundamental purpose of music - storytelling and connection, something that is accomplished through tension and release, conflict and resolution. Chris creates tension and resolution by alternately locking in tight to the rhythm for a couple bars and then floating out of it for a couple bars, both rhythmically and melodically, with soaring bends and freestyle rhythmic phrasing, only to come back and lock right back in, and he keeps alternating between the locked-in and fluid rhythm patterns right into the final flourish. Very much worth studying for guitarists.

The Empire Album is a well Written, Well Produced Record. The Top of Queensryche Career, in my opinion. The chemistry between DeGarmos Guitar and Tates Vocals are phenomenal.
I've seen the band live a few times and they still rock after 30 plus years. The video for Jet City Woman is one of the best by the band by far. Geoff Tate was the glue that kept them together for quite a long time. One of the best performers of the 90's.

THE most underrated Progressive Metal band ever, with 2 of the most undeerated guitarists ever. Tates voice is legendary, Wilton & Degarmo are a fantastic tandem.
... And the most underrated ritmic combo: Eddie Jackson and Scott Rockenfield. Their Rush influences are quite clear, but still they have an original sound.
Scott and Eddie are not given enough credit for how solid, tight, and driving their rhythms were. Never just standard, serviceable stuff. Always propelling the songs with a deep, full, and heavy foundation, sprinkled with unusual and quirky little tidbits. SO GOOD! I miss all you guys!
i do too. unforunately i really didn't listen to them much. recently i saw a documentary on them and i've never had music or a group leave me wanting more. i even have my echo wake me up to them in the mornings. love love love them and wish they were still playing and could see a concert!!
Back in 1992, followed these fellas from Buffalo NY to Rochester NY Awesome times. Never forgot. I'm a Cali kid who worked at a mall in West Henrietta. I lived off St Joseph Ave and Norton. Where I remember Metallica and Aerosmith black crows did an awesome show. All the stores got bought out of alcohol.
I hope the up coming generations can feel that passion for music you obviously have.....i feel bad for anyone who hasn't ever had the hair on the arm stand up or chills at certain parts of a song every single time they hear it. Music moves me that way.
I'm from 2 states south of their state of Washington state i now live in Springfield Missouri since 1996 and this band brings me back to my west coast childhood and adolescent generation of the 80 and 90 for that rock on queensryche
Todd is currently miles better than the current Tate. Just listen to the atrocity he did to this song in 2013 when he decided to re-record some old songs.
Maui MItch Not true. His father was a U.S. diplomat and his mother was an artist and writer of children’s books. Although Geoff said his mother had a “very nice voice” it was an aunt who was the opera singer.
I remember the summer of 1991. A local radio station was running a contest to win front row tickets to Queensryche's Building Empires tour (and more). Night one of the week long promotion and Jet City Woman was the song to call on. I heard it, I called, and I won the tickets. Very cool

@@hankhardon3517 one of the most sacrilegious (Judas betrayed Jesus) Judas priest=demonic anti-christian self titled bands deliberately
One in a million voice.... not many like that either. Great band!
The Empire Album is a well Written, Well Produced Record. The Top of Queensryche Career, in my opinion.
The chemistry between DeGarmos Guitar and Tates Vocals are phenomenal.
beginning of the end for 80's metal
Operation Mind Crime is a great Album
One of the best rock bands ever
I've seen the band live a few times and they still rock after 30 plus years. The video for Jet City Woman is one of the best by the band by far. Geoff Tate was the glue that kept them together for quite a long time. One of the best performers of the 90's.
2024 and still listening
Proud that Chris DeGarmo is my cousin theses guys are still burning it down 30+ years later 🤘🤘🤘
Really??😱😱
Wow you are so lucky,he's an idol to me,one of the best Guitarist from his generation.
Your cousin is one of the most bad ass guitarists in rock and roll. He just keeps gettin' better!
The Elvis Presley s of metal. Moves me spirituality.
Chris isn't though
Have him call Geoff ...and tell them to stop fn around .....theyve got many fans and he needs to staup the bs towards Geoff ....i bet Geoff would rejoin gladly .....they need to stop fn around....since your his cousin Maybe you can convince your cuzz......so sadd that this great band isnt together today
I wish people nowadays were this talented when it comes to singing and the music of course, but sadly that’s not the case 😪
I've never heard a better vocalist anywhere, ever.
Love his voice 😊
one of the best bands of all time !!!
Most definitely...miss that Seattle sound they need a new one that just blows everyone's minds...
This is a kick ass band
2022 and still fresh and beautifully produced album.
This explains legends never die off. Real music with Real instruments.
🤘😝🤘
THE most underrated Progressive Metal band ever, with 2 of the most undeerated guitarists ever. Tates voice is legendary, Wilton & Degarmo are a fantastic tandem.
... And the most underrated ritmic combo: Eddie Jackson and Scott Rockenfield. Their Rush influences are quite clear, but still they have an original sound.
Not with the numbers in sales that they produced
Scott and Eddie are not given enough credit for how solid, tight, and driving their rhythms were. Never just standard, serviceable stuff. Always propelling the songs with a deep, full, and heavy foundation, sprinkled with unusual and quirky little tidbits.
SO GOOD! I miss all you guys!
This guy is one of the BEST SINGERS OF ALL TIMES . I WISH THEY WERE STILL GOING
i do too. unforunately i really didn't listen to them much. recently i saw a documentary on them and i've never had music or a group leave me wanting more. i even have my echo wake me up to them in the mornings. love love love them and wish they were still playing and could see a concert!!
TRUE
SEATTLE BABY!!!!!!!!
One of the most iconic voices to ever belt out a song. Queensryche will never be the same with out him!
Just saw them a couple years ago, they sounded fine. Geoff's replacement has about 85-90% of his range, which still sounds amazing live.
Same here Ioved these guys in high school and college.
He's still got the pipes, saw video from earlier in the year. Sounds the same, incredible!
Oh, you know it!!
One of the best Rock songs of all time
Love his voice and this song🤗
Back in 1992, followed these fellas from Buffalo NY to Rochester NY
Awesome times. Never forgot. I'm a Cali kid who worked at a mall in West Henrietta. I lived off St Joseph Ave and Norton. Where I remember Metallica and Aerosmith black crows did an awesome show. All the stores got bought out of alcohol.
Annika, my daughter, I want you to experience this just like I did in 1991. Like you, this album (Empire) changed my life. I love you so much! ❤
Wish I had a penny for every time this song played at a strip joint.
I was just blessed to see Geoff live in a small venue in Everett. He still owns it!
Can’t describe how great this song is , and how much it means to me!
Awww
I hope the up coming generations can feel that passion for music you obviously have.....i feel bad for anyone who hasn't ever had the hair on the arm stand up or chills at certain parts of a song every single time they hear it. Music moves me that way.
Ultimate talent in a band that was not on the main scene long enough.
The bass is everything in this sweet jam, your voice is perfection and the guitar simply takes my breath away...thank you. 💋❤🤘
2022 and still watching this amazing example of real music, superb vocals, and talent on the guitars.
I'm from 2 states south of their state of Washington state i now live in Springfield Missouri since 1996 and this band brings me back to my west coast childhood and adolescent generation of the 80 and 90 for that rock on queensryche
Queensryche is so underrated.
One of the greatest albums of all time!
Geoff was the coolest and best vocalist. No Poser can replace him ever !!!!!!!!!!!!
Heemiez
Replaced, but not by someone anyone cares about.
Todd is currently miles better than the current Tate. Just listen to the atrocity he did to this song in 2013 when he decided to re-record some old songs.
All the music that touched our hearts will never change the 70s 80s 90s
Criminally Underrated Band.
Their first five albums are Top Tier!
This song will never get old. I miss Geoff touring with them, but they will always rock!!
I love his voice. That man sure can sing.
He's a classically trained opera singer as were his parents, he never misses a note. Awesome band for sure. Cheers :o)

One of the rare good metal singers
Maui MItch Not true. His father was a U.S. diplomat and his mother was an artist and writer of children’s books. Although Geoff said his mother had a “very nice voice” it was an aunt who was the opera singer.
Yes definitely, he has one of the best voices
This song kept me doing my studies of law - thank you Queensryche
This band and the scorpions are literally my favorite bands they are so underrated
These guys were and are epic! This tour was one of the most amazing in all of history in my opinion. Every member of the band was a true musician!
I cant tell why but I think this guitar solo is one of the bests. It is perfectly balanced, groovy, melodic and technical at the same time. On spot!
I remember the summer of 1991. A local radio station was running a contest to win front row tickets to Queensryche's Building Empires tour (and more). Night one of the week long promotion and Jet City Woman was the song to call on. I heard it, I called, and I won the tickets.
Very cool
Biggest bad ass group in the world 1990-91
