I was 14 in 1987. That summer, as a gift for passing middle school exams, my brother and I asked my dad for a stereo system. My father loaded us into his car, a blue Fiat 127 and took us to a shop outside the city, in the industrial area. We didn't have much money and my father couldn't afford a big expense, but he satisfied us, we chose a modest hi-fi but with nice speakers. There was only one left, the one exhibited on trial for customers. They packed it in its original slightly dented packaging and we took it home. We immediately took it to our room and tried it. The owner had forgotten a tape inside, maybe he was using it to make customers hear the sound, or maybe he bought it and listened to it. It was "Whitesnake 1987" and the first song that came out of that stereo was " Still of the night". Whenever I happen to hear it, I'm 14 again and I'm with my brother in our teen room and life feels wonderful and full of fun again.

My wife and I started dating in the 80s. Whitesnake was part of the sound of those early days. In our 50s now, 3 grown kids, and 2 grandkids. I remember driving around late one night looking for a party to this song. We had just picked up some friends and we were heading up into the hills. We had it playing loud and we were all being loud too, that is until the song spiraled down into the bridge. As we made our way through the dark. I remember how quiet it had gotten. No one spoke a word or made a sound. I'll never forget the look on everybody's face, especially the one girl who had never heard this song. We were all feeling it big time. The night, the hills, the moon, the cool summer air. The song literally became the soundtrack for the moment. What a night and what a magical time to be young and alive.

If you aren't turned off by the Satanic imagery, Ghost are a great band who take a lot of influence from '70s and '80s Rock. They even give a nod to this song on "Respite on the Spitalfields".
I was lucky enough to see Whitesnake open for Motley Crue on their Girls, Girls, Girls Tour in 1987. I paid only $18.50 for that show!!! I'm glad that I grew up in the 80's.
For 18.50 a ticket I’m jealous ya saw them for that price....this is what happens when I’m born the early 90’s, when thrash metal was dying out and grunge was taking over 😂😂
Very few PERFECT songs out there. The type of song that you couldn't imagine a universe where it doesn't exist. It's almost like they didn't even write it themselves but the spirit of lust came down to Earth in the form of music and chose these dudes to replicate it. It's that good.
@Sheron Edge Ironically mine looked this big naturally and I spent hours ironing it to get it flat and straight. Fortunately it doesn’t take as long after all these years of doing it. It’s still down to my butt. I’ve always loved long hair, still do. (On men, too!)

I'm now 59 years old, Camaro is long gone, but I've got a 1987 Monte Carlo SS (cassette player and all) with t-tops, and this is one of my favorite tunes to jam in the car! Makes me feel 25 again!
I remember hearing this song for the first time thinking.."wow, that's John Sykes? He's really rocking!". Nothing against Adrian Vandenberg and Vivian Campbell shown in the video(two phenomenal guitarists in their own rights) but I would've loved to have seen Coverdale and Sykes work things out and make more records together, they could've been the "Led Zeppelin" of the eighties. 🎸🎵
Man, I was living in Pensacola Florida in 1987 when this came out. It was the year after I lost my virginity. I was so young and wild and free and not a care in the world when I first heard this. Man I can still remember it like it was YESTERDAY. I turned 50 this past March and I think back how young and wild I was and if I could go back in time and stay stuck in the 80s forever I would. MTV was MTV not the crap that it is now. I wish this young generation could go back to the 80s and let them experience the 80s and Mtv back then, they would not want to go back neither. Man the girls the music and the life style of the 80s nothing compares to it. Lord what happen to those days. America was always beautiful but it was so beautiful living in America in the 80s. I'm not kidding when I say this but if I had 5 million dollars today I would give it up in a heart beat to go back to the 80s and start over. Someone build me a time machine please!!!

@@shanej.OG-GenXer- Don't get me wrong there's things to love about the eighties. But if you were a kid then you're very biased. There was other stuff that proportionately sucked. 1987….19 years old. There may NOT have been a better time to enjoy music. Being a teenager in the 80’s is something my own son said he wishes could have been there.
I was nine years old in 87 and turned on to this great music at that age. Van Halen,Bon Jovi, Motley Crue,KISS,Def Leppard all of it along with Jason and Freddy movies. My mom was not raising in her mind a normal nine year old kid if those exist, lol
The summer of ‘87 was such an awesome year for album releases. 1987 by Whitesnake, Girls, Girls, Girls by The Crue, Dancing Undercover by RATT, Momentary Lapse of Reason by Pink Floyd and Hysteria from Def Leppard - what a time to be alive

I can only imagine just how magical it was. I hope my generation won't forget songs and bands like these. Music is something I will always appreciate.
Saw them a few months ago and they're still amazing, the drummer is fcking insane
I saw them on this tour great white opened \m/
My youngest son was born in 04 and he’s a old soul he loves the music I grew up with as if he was right beside me❤
If you aren't turned off by the Satanic imagery, Ghost are a great band who take a lot of influence from '70s and '80s Rock. They even give a nod to this song on "Respite on the Spitalfields".
I was a teen and in my early 20's in the 1980's. IT WAS THE BEST !!! I wish I could go back in time.
R.I.P. Tawny. You were a icon of the eighties. Showed alot of young men what a "True Babe" looked like. Shine on you Crazy Diamond in Heaven ! 😢
She created the wet dream
And inspired girls everywhere to learn gymnastics.
She was a Rock Video Legend, I so miss this era!
Is this a JoJo reference?
@Archer no its a song from pink floyd
I was lucky enough to see Whitesnake open for Motley Crue on their Girls, Girls, Girls Tour in 1987. I paid only $18.50 for that show!!! I'm glad that I grew up in the 80's.
NoRest ForTheWicked
Goodness what a priceless memory. #lucky #rockon
NoRest ForTheWicked me too! October 1987 in Phoenix AZ.
Yeah easier and better times
For 18.50 a ticket I’m jealous ya saw them for that price....this is what happens when I’m born the early 90’s, when thrash metal was dying out and grunge was taking over 😂😂
Me too 😘💕
this is rock music masterpiece!!
🏆🏆Who was there 87 and here in 2024 ? ?? still one of the most awesome songs and videos. I bought the tape in 87 🏆🏆🏆🏆🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I was born in 87 ha
Press play and go on the ride. The entire tape. Don't skip shit.
Very few PERFECT songs out there. The type of song that you couldn't imagine a universe where it doesn't exist. It's almost like they didn't even write it themselves but the spirit of lust came down to Earth in the form of music and chose these dudes to replicate it. It's that good.
I saw them in concert 87 .
July 2024. He will forever me the other David in my life. My hubby's name is David
3:19 in my opinion the best part of this song. Always gives me chills.🤘🏼

RIP Tawny. Most beautiful woman. Women don't look like this anymore. I wanted to look just like her back in the day. No one beats her hair.
Me too.
@Sheron Edge Ironically mine looked this big naturally and I spent hours ironing it to get it flat and straight. Fortunately it doesn’t take as long after all these years of doing it. It’s still down to my butt. I’ve always loved long hair, still do. (On men, too!)
I wish I had a body like hers.
David's hair ain't half bad either.
@@NenaMataHari .Had you seen her Recently? I doubt it seriously or you would not be saying this.. She destroyed herself with plastic surgery's & drug abuse. she was not the same girl as the 80s
Best Whitesnakes song forever
I Love Whats Nake .
Love their slide it in album better
Best solo ever, unique like no other ever be another solo like this ever.😁
Im 26 was born in 1997 but I grew up listening to all the 80s hair metal bands because my parents know what good music is lol. I've seen a lot of these guys, Cinderella, motley Crue, def leopard, Tesla. So glad my parents put me on to this era of music. Wish I grew up in the 80s lol!
It was wild, I can tell you. There was music like this coming out every week. What a decade. Everything was big and exciting back then. They don't do it like that these days.
@@andoletubeyou’re right it’s all about pop culture and crappy music

I hear you nostalgic
This song gives me chills, one of the best rock songs of the 80's!
I concur
Amen!
TOTAL ✌
I know right, I was like 16 or 17 when this track came out and I was thinking, “Is that a new Zeppelin track”?, lol 😂
Thanks to JOHN SYKES!
Here to honor Tawny. Every man wanted her and every woman wanted to be her back in the day. Too young to die. R.I.P.
No I didn't want to be her.
I am so damn happy that I grew up in the 80's, we'll never have music like this again. Rock on
I totally agree
Greta Van Fleet says hello and Steel Panther!
Hi buddy as long as theres Hair Nation i will always Rock on so crank it up and keep Rocking.
PunisherWars1 both those bands suck
Yes you will. Its coming
"Still Of The Night" remains-and will always be-one of the most perfectly ass-kicking tracks of the 80s 'hair band' era...
Whitesnake for a Super Bowl Half-Time Show!!!
+Bryan D. Wolfe great idea!!!!
a'm in!
Tawny was the cause of so many problems within that band.
LMAO!!
Would you rather see Taylor Swift and Kanye West? I sure as Hell don't wanna see that shit!!
The whole solo section of this song is still the coolest thing in all of 80’s rock.
Exactly, I have never ever heard of a solo like this or ever will again.

The band owes much success to these videos with Tawny Kitaen...who else is here because of her? God rest her soul.
They provided her a very nice house and life..
And the other way around. These are masterpieces of rock.
I dont listen to Whitesnake without thinking of Tawny, that would be impossible..
I certainly am.
@@acgillespie she supported David Coverdale financially when he was $3M in debt to David Geffen. She had more money than him when they started dating. So DC owed her. She did the videos to help him out, she said no to the other bands that wanted to work with her.
One of the 80s greatest rock tracks. Whitesnake, still of the night, still sounds as good as did back in the day. 🎸🎸🎸
It sounds better these days, because it has a nostalgic, HUGE touch of the '80ies.

The '80's are awesome.

well done good young man, this is a masterpiece song from a great band.
Dave Coverdale has one of the best rock voices of all time.
Agree! like Robert Plant as well.
David coverdale is still whitesnake lead singer till this day it'll be great if whitesnake comes to Winnipeg for a night I'd go see David coverdale anytime
Eh,,, Paul Rodgers, Robert Plant, Rick Emmit, David Coverdale, Steven Tyler, Sammy Hagar, for me, in no particular order,,, I am jealous and hate them all equally, they're so damn good lol...

Dude, we need this kind of music to make a come back. 80’s metal ruled
80s metal is Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Priest... This is 80s Hard Rock. No hate though, this song is great.
For sure
Two words: Steel Panther
Joseph Ancion This is heavy/hair metal . these guys were touring with motley crue & ratt & dokken back in the day aswell . all hair/heavy metal .

🤘Bring back 80s Metal! 🤘
William Santiago long post, but I would love to go back for many reasons & as far as music goes, this is garbage.Basically same beat, auto tune in studio& pretty much same rhymes. But great times& great drugs, but I would give my liver to go back.
I didn't lived in 80's but i always hope that... the music, the girls, the style... everything.
i’m only nineteen and i hate this generation, like i truly believe i was born in the wrong generation and i wish i had a time machine, so i could go back to the eighties and live my teenage years in the years that i should’ve.. which was the eighties 😔

@@shanej.OG-GenXer- Don't get me wrong there's things to love about the eighties. But if you were a kid then you're very biased. There was other stuff that proportionately sucked. It was a weird time where technology existed for enough money but not for normal people.the world was about to roll over. It was a very selfish generation. Latch key kids.... And being devil's advocate one last jab nothing significant in the '80s didn't start in the '70s already. It wasn't exactly a complete reinvention of anything.

I'm a true child of the 80s, and Tawny will always be *iconic* for me. Very sad to hear of her passing today.
John Sykes really created something beautiful
its a shame he got screwed over the way he did. So many people think adrian vandenburg and vivian campbell wrote the guitar parts but they just played sykes music
And he was (is) beautiful. 💗
I see whitesnake alive in concert in the final of the 80,s and was the more fabulous and magnificent band i ever see, this is the more powerfull song i ever listen in my life and i have the privilige to see this alive, i think David have the more powerfull and fabulous voice of Rock n roll ever, what a magnifique voice, the best. This song had it all... let's be honest - there are simply no songs that have all the elements represented here. Excellent guitar intro, melody change, solo singing, guitar guitar jamming, drums and percussions... beautiful XJ12s, amazing singer's voice & his sexy model.
