And the backup vocals are no slouch, either. This band was criminally underrated. I feel like they got lost under the hype of mid-80s new wave and then bands like GnR, and Empire was released right when grunge was introduced to us in the 90s. Empire was one of my fave albums my freshman year of high school, but I was definitely paying more attention to Nirvana, RHCP, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins and the like.

Vocalist has unique voice, yes, Chris DeGarmo is epic, but this band is mediocre at best, no one's remember their name in 2024. Cause there is no musical evolution the their history. This is not progressive band at all. Very commercial band.

Idnic Tsal Never said they were alike. I said that they're the same genre. Queensryche is progressive metal, which is a genre that they pioneered; Dream Theater's main influence is Queensryche. If you listen to Dream Theater's earlier songs you'll see. James Labrie's vocal style is quite similar to Geoff Tate's. Like I said, the bands aren't the same or alike, but they are similar considering they're the same genre. Listen to some of Dream Theater's interviews, you'll see.

I stumbled upon queensryche by accident when watching MTV one day as an 11 year old (early 1991). It was when one band a week would host an hr of music throughout that week. Geoff didn't catch my eye first, it was Michael wilton and (no joke on this as I remember it like it was yesterday) in the background was Eddie Jackson on sort of fake horse trying to wrangle it.

Sorry go back to great rock and roll if the 60’,s and 70s. Really love this song and his vocals along with a great guitar riff, but the bands then were the fathers of all the rock bands that followed. But man I love his voice. Oh and I’m a baby boomer, late 50’s when they could hold their audience with great music like Queensryche, no auto tune or back up dancers. Just one old dudes opinion

Saw these kids open up for Kiss in St Louis way back in the 80's, had no idea who they were, but when Geoff hit those notes that only a few have ever hit, I was blown away...the headline at the time for them was of course the legendary...TaKE HOLD OF THE FLAME! You just knew they were on their way to superstardom, and man they did not disappoint! My oh my...saw them 5 times over the next two decades and they never disappointed live, always exceeding expectations in the studio....Operation Mindcrime, and Empire have to be two of the best heavy metal albums I ever owned, and anyone who says this is not heavy metal, never sawed them live! Peace!
