This is one of those songs that came out of the 70's but you'd swear it was the 80's or 90's. Triumph was way ahead of their time. Classic song that's older than one would think. STILL rocks to this day.

I swear I thought Triumph was an early 80's band. Of course I know this song from hearing it played thousands of times throughout my life, but I never knew that that was Triumph, and I always passed by their albums when I'm digging.
I agree with that. It sounds mid to late 80s. Awesome band even though they are Canadian. Just kidding. Seriously, I have a thing for Triumph and I also love love Rush.
This was my sons favorite song. I remember walking at the Greenfield village and he was the only kid playing this during this father and son feild trip. He died six month ago in a car accident. He was innocent mild mannered, a deer ran out of in front of him on his way to work 5:40 am

A true kick-ass three piece band from Canada. I'm glad I got to see them. They couldn't do a lot of over- dubbing. Because when you go out on tour, you can't reproduce the same as listening to the album. They were just as good live as they were in the studio. I'm a 59 year old guitarist. We were indeed lucky to grow up when we did!! No cell phones, no internet, you just went out and grooved. They were amazing!!🤘🎸❤ ✌️
Been somewhat of a musician in school from 3rd grade up through high school and taught professional dancing and agree with you wholeheartedly. It was an era we grew up in that will never be again. Makes me sad and happy. Good music is out there it's just hard to find. We the people have to take our countries back from what has taken over if we want our freedom. Thank you and L&L 2U.
These guys shoulda made it as big as the Scorpions. This guitarist is fantastic and his singing is amazing! Im a guitar player and singer and i know how it can be to juggle all of those notes, words, etc. Would have been cool to add a couple more guitarists. They could have done lots then. Clearly this is the studio version played over a live showing. Theres too much going on not to be. But, add more musicians and it would have opened up more creativity with that lead stuff. Man..his skills blow mine away. And ive had years of guys like Slash and Eddie to benefit from...this guy is so good..i love the classical progression under the solo. So tasteful!!

FUCKING BEAUTIFUL SONG and no other way to describe it. Told my girlfriend at the concert....Lay-It-On-Line...We married six months later and spend 28 years together. Was an awesome concert!
They had a lot of great songs, not simply the ones heard on the radio.😎 I have liked Triumph's music since I first heard it in late 1979, in high school. In fact, I use a snippet of "Lay It On The Line" as the ringtone for a lady that has been a good friend of mine since we were very young kids, over 50 years ago.😎 Edited to clarify: I don't use the snippet of this song for the ringtone for my lady friend because of 99% of the lyrics. I use it because of that 1% of the lyrics... simply "I want to love you. I want to make you mine...Lay it on the line. Don't waste my time." Simply because after all of these years, we reconnected a couple of years ago, and recently we began seeing each other romantically.🙂
I'd love to have a Bar-B-Q and invite all the people still listening to this music. You are my people.
Thanks man, if you ever get to Nashville Tennessee, hit me up. Nothing will ever top the 1970's & 1980's music. Glad I was there! 58 strong!

Bottom line.....think more than 2 seconds before you try to make a bold tuff statement because those seconds sound like they are equivalent to your I.Q.
If you've searched for this music, its because we share a kindred spirit and appreciate good music
"Dont waste my precious time" , so glad I had music like this, the real shit.
So true !
Love is the truth
My grandparents bought this album for me as a Christmas gift the year it came out..... Now.... 2024, I'm at home listening... dancing, and f'ing rockin' out.... damn, Rik Emmit is incredible....

This song never gets old!! These guys are truly talented rock stars!
and you still know all of the words like it was yesterday ...
True I listen to this song while I'm cooking dinner or doing bead work
Cool
Great
One of the best voices
Never gets old
God im glad I grew up with this era of music
✔️Yep, and we had the spectre of nuclear annihilation ALWAYS looming over us! Yet I'd rather grow up under those circumstances, without smartphones and powerful personal computers, than to grow up in the 2000-2021 era! 🥱
Me too ! I only wish that I could go back. That would be a wonderful wish come true !!!
Me too....
Indeed!
I remember going to buy this cassette tape ..
A-M-E-N! or L-I-K-E-W-I-S-E!
Most underrated 70s/80s band of them all bar none. Classic stuff.
anyone who saw Triumph NEVER underrated them
True except some of their greatest work (like this one) was from the 70's
@@geraldhartley Rock and Roll Machine (1977) was a beast of an album, I was still in high school and rushed out to buy it.
@@Flagrum3 Amen!! I bought Rock and Roll Machine when it came out too. I was in Jr high, but as soon as I saw the cover at the record store I knew I was going to like it. Bought it without even knowing who they were. Fell in love with the music on the first listen!!
Saw them in a Atlanta 1986
Another 56 year old fan. Still one of the greatest bands and songs of all time. Incredible vocals. Memorable tune. Great performance.
YOU GUYS STILL ROCK!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
this is one of those songs that can transport you back to the time you first heard it. To be 15 again and know what I know now - I would surely be hell on wheels
How long have you been listening to my songs
@arnulford66 where are you from
Absolutely
Tats its 2 that end rock till n
I know right. I wish it worked that way dang
This is one of those songs that came out of the 70's but you'd swear it was the 80's or 90's. Triumph was way ahead of their time. Classic song that's older than one would think. STILL rocks to this day.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this song!! I grew up with Ric Emmet’s voice during this era (too bad I didn’t take his advice with deadbeat boyfriends along the way, LOL 😆)…still rocking out to it in 2022, of course! Cheers!❤️😁😘🤟🏽
THAT, IT DOES!!!!!
You got it pegged
This was my sons favorite song. I remember walking at the Greenfield village and he was the only kid playing this during this father and son feild trip. He died six month ago in a car accident. He was innocent mild mannered, a deer ran out of in front of him on his way to work 5:40 am
One of the best songs from them!
What a shame we don't have music like this anymore.
We do! Right here!
That's right this shit this days, SUCKS
No talent in this Disney and Nicelodeon and American Idle BS!!!!!
My son is keeping classic rock alive by playing it live Give him some love. Writes in that style as well ua-cam.com/video/69HJrrKvh7k/v-deo.html
@@liteazwell1913 and you can do cover bands to keep it going...
"I don't ask for much, the truth will do just fine" is a live by line.
very nice
Hellz yeah!!!
This song makes me want to crawl back into a better time from the past, at least compared to today. :)
This band got me through the 2008 calapse. Saved my house. Thank you, Triumph.
Ric Emmit is truely one of the most underrated singer / lead guitarists ever.
So so underrated, this band rocked, his voice never changed, great fucking music for a 3 piece , absolutely love them, great songsongwriting and musicianship. They let the music do the talking. Love them alot.
Wished they had Stayed. Together
He is freaking great! I've always worried about his back, but the man can sing!
oh, i'm not sure he's really underrated, people have a great respect for him and his abilities. back in the day we pretty much all knew who he was.
Very very very true....that goes for whole Band..!
When a song gives you the chills, you know it did its job......wow.
I remember this one, killer tune!
f...Ted nugent ...he compared himself to triumph in an interview...years ago. Sorry I got a buzz but just reminded me of wango Tango One hit wonder
Right😹
Just a good clean sound!
Windows down, endless night sky out front, and running 70 mph along the long country road. 18 years old not a care in the world other than the one beside me. Please god take me back to that moment so long ago.
I'm 61, and I'm just now working out some of the guitar parts now. This song STILL kicks in 2023!
A singer with unbelievable talent. One of the greatest rockers of all time!!
☮️There'll be no other music made like the music we grew up with. The best of Rock-N-Roll.🤟
This band never got the credit they deserved...just awesome
I thought they did back in the day... just my opinion
For those of us that appreciate pure talent as opposed to all the hype this band is way the hell up on top of the charts for us! Let there be no doubt about that! Magic power
You're probably right- I hadn't heard of them, and I'm a Boomer. But I've never been into heavy metal. On the other hand, 15 million views isn't chump change.
I like them better than Rush
Right
40 years on... This song still RULES!
REKEASED IN 1979 Its 70s
But, how could it not???
43 YEARS from early 1979
Nobody cry at my funeral, I've lived more than ten men, RIP Robin.
Awesome group. Superb vocals. Excellent recording. Today's music "Can't Touch This!"
My GOD!!!!! Almost 40 years later (?) and it still sends chills up and down my spine!!! F**k!!!!
40 years? Oh man I'm old...lol
@@HomesteadingWays ... It happened SO fast, didn't it? I blinked, and I was "old"! Oh well. Happens to everyone (if you're lucky)! At least we were blessed to live through some great history and times; and thank God for film/video/vinyl/tape, and all of that great stuff! Cheers!!
Right on and takes me back to hot summers riding gravel roads sipping a quart of Colt .45 (circa 1982). RIP Bordner.
Mine too 🤘🎼
Be careful what you lay out there,oh yeah When you you for someone, raise your standards.then talk to me
A true kick-ass three piece band from Canada.
Unless your name starts with R and ends with H.
Most iconic music came from Canada 😊
I hear you loud and clear..
I cant belive how amazing this is one of if not the best ever example of vocal perfection anytime i wamma hear the best singer in rock ever and trust me my fav is steve perry but this is insane blows me away everytime cant thank my dad enough for introducing me to this
Such a phenomenal live performance! Still go to triumph in 2024 as we all need the magic power, lay it on the line and still must fight the good fight
One of the hardest hitting Canadian rock bands of all time. Triumph is on my daily playlist.

I remember listening to Triumph back in the day and I STILL do! What a great kick-ass rocking band! Recently watched the documentary "Triumph: Rock & Roll Machine". Loved it!
Triumph and Rik Emmett were so good back in the day in my opinion he is without a doubt one of the best singers and guitarist of all time easily and they had some really great songs and musician ship within the band the drummer and bass player were great too !!! I really love that band !!! Emmett is another reason I started playing the guitar !!!
FUCKING BEAUTIFUL SONG and no other way to describe it. Told my girlfriend at the concert....Lay-It-On-Line...We married six months later and spend 28 years together. Was an awesome concert!

REAL music. No auto harmony or computerized sounds! When musicians actually had talent!
This classic will never die!
Fight the Good Fight is even better. My 2nd favorite of all songs.
They had a lot of great songs, not simply the ones heard on the radio.😎
I have liked Triumph's music since I first heard it in late 1979, in high school.
In fact, I use a snippet of "Lay It On The Line" as the ringtone for a lady that has been a good friend of mine since we were very young kids, over 50 years ago.😎
Edited to clarify:
I don't use the snippet of this song for the ringtone for my lady friend because of 99% of the lyrics.
I use it because of that 1% of the lyrics... simply "I want to love you. I want to make you mine...Lay it on the line. Don't waste my time."
Simply because after all of these years, we reconnected a couple of years ago, and recently we began seeing each other romantically.🙂
Right on
NEVER!!!❤
My favourite Triumph song. Never get tired of it!
