I have to agree with you , this place is beautiful ! Looks like you and the other fellas had a good time .
New subscriber here from Texas. I’ve been binge-watching many of your videos. I have enjoyed them all. Scenery is fantastic and I like your quiet demeanor. Very peaceful, relaxing and super interesting! Keep up the great work. ♥️🍻
Just watched it again, Dartmoor special place for me! 🙂
Looks like you had a great adventure. I am watching all of your older trips. As an added bonus, I am reading "The Hound of the Baskervilles.". The moors do not seem as dreary as described in the story. Thanks for sharing.
Nice one Andy. It was great to see Dartmoor. I'd only read about it previously. I'd love to see it for myself one day. Thank you!!!!
You were 4 people and you managed to make it look like you are alone. Nice job.
another brilliant watch.
thanks Dean
Enjoyed that, I love quarries and old mines. Good video work, very professional.
Looked lovely mate - those sunsets were amazing!! Good to see a bean re-emergence too haha! Glad you had a good weekend buddy, thanks for sharing! Atb, Simon.
Thanks Simon, always good to get on the moors, and hay fever was ok too.. bonus haha. beans and going posh with the spaghetti bowl ;)
Wow, pretty chilly place to still have tadpoles around in late june
I enjoyed seeing the variation of packs and tents used by all of you fellows and definitely the beautiful country.
Thanks buddy. Its always good comparing kit.. can always learn something new
Tip !! freeze your sauce ( for example spaghetti sauce ) .take small cheap bags, and tighten them firmly. Unfreeze them for one second and then vacuum them in a new bag . They will last for +- 10 hours and also cool your beer !!
Great video Andy - Nice to see you down our neck of the woods Fur Tor is bleak - we have once been up that exact same route -before - worth it for the views up top. And Foggintor too is a cracking location. Thanks for uploading this, some nice shots throughout, and informative!
Thanks mate (Trev I assume ?) Always good to get down to the moors and nice to see it dry for a change haha, though it was a little hot for hiking.. loving the use of relive on your vids.. really works for them mate.
Cheers mate - I have been itching to get that app for ages - nerdy I know lol. And yea - very rare to stay dry on dartmoor and hasnt it been hot - bet it was relentless up there! Atb. And yep - its Trev!
haha, art we all nerds at heart :p yeah, it was a bit warm.. the nights did chill down though, lack of any cloud coverage I guess, hoping to get back down before the end of the year, the fuel costs too bloody much haha
Tell me about it - we are so far from the mountains down here that it costs a fair packet to keep travelling to our Summits! Scotland next - that is going to cost a bomb, and google says 12-hour journey! Jees!
haha yeah would love to do Scotland.. probably cheaper to fly, look forward to seeing your jaunts up there though
Hi Great video, really enjoyed that! If you follow the disused railway you will find lots of cut & shaped stones that was not needed for tower bridge!!! Also, I've abseiled using them stakes!!! I was with someone very trustworthy! lol Back in the 90's we used to walk from Oakhampton to princetown and spend the night on fur tor. loved being in the middle away from everything. thanks Aaron
Some fabulous scenery! Your videography gets better and better every time! Really enjoy seeing these sites from your perspective!
Thank you Heather, much appreciated :)
What an amazing place !
It really is, and has such a 'personality' of its own, thanks for watching

Great spot of really wild camping, Andy. There may not be a whole lot to see, but what's seen is certainly enjoyable in such a magnificent landscape with a history going back for thousands of years. Thanks for sharing this adventure. Take care...
Thanks John, It is a beautiful place with a lot of history, I always love going back there :)
I really enjoyed this, thanks for 28 minutes in one of my favorite places anywhere in the world. Wish me luck on the PCT later this summer!
Thanks :) PCT, you lucky thing, you'll have a great time, once in a lifetime thing that.
Good one Andy....That quarry must've been a thought if you had to leg it to work every morning..lol! I love seeing those old farm/croft buildings too..I find them all quite thought provoking. And great weather to top it all...Great stuff, cheers 👍
amazing views wasn't they :) love it down there, wish I was closer though. Thanks for watching Robert

Hiya Andy. Always very pleased to see your adventures. Weather looks incredible, amidst the verdant tall grass...Keep up the fine work, pal... Jonathan
Thanks Jonathan, one might say it was too hot.. but for Dartmoor thats good haha
Here I am with me pasta and cous cous and Dartmoor explorer is cooking chips lol. Great video Andy I liked your set up looked geared up for those moors. And apparently there's a way of sleeping on the xlite that means you don't fall off lol. Take care mate Cheers Karl
Ill have to check that with the xlite, at the moment im worried I wasted the money. yeah.. im much more hiking minded in packing now.. thanks in part to your inspirations mate. Carl had a fold out kitchen I think haha.. fair play to him, he eats well up there
Give him a thumbs up and watch the ads, his channel is far better than anything on current tv ,👍
Thank you very much Terry :)
Hello Andy, great to see you on Dartmoor and you had good weather too! You are right about those spikes they are used for abseiling, we used to go up there back in the 90s and use the ones at Foggintor quarry and would sometimes see the Marines abseiling too but running and jumping forwards off the quarry.
sounds terrifying to me haha, thanks for watching mate :)
Yes looked it too! Bodmin moor is worth a visit too if you get the chance.
Ive driven through and been to the Jamaica in but not done any hiking there yet
Dartmoor my favourite 👍
so much to see.. so far away haha, thanks for watching mate
I enjoyed the video and pleased to have found you after viewing the others'. :-)
Thanks for popping over Olly, glad you enjoyed :)
Great Video buddy... Such a lovely place with stunning views... Cheers Kev and Crissy.
Cheers guys :) I wish it wasn't so far away haha
Kent Survival you need to explore up north buddy hey hahaha
You know, I'd be interested in a video about your dehydration of different foods you pack along.
Just a thought.
Great video!!
Thanks :) I will consider it in the future but to be honest, ive not been dehydrating whole meals for very long, a little more practice and im sure ill get one done :)
Отличный поход.
brilliant lovely fantastic
Thank you Matthew
Dartmoor is a beautiful place. I know you had a great time there. Very interesting video and great content. Thank you for sharing this experience. ATB.
Thanks Jeff, It is indeed beautiful, and so much to see
Well done Andy, that was epic video work right there. Enjoyed it mate. ATB Moose.
Thanks Moose, was a great trip, wish I could get there more
Love the new music x
Thanks Louise :)
Great vid Andy 👌. Some fantastic views and the quarry was a cool place and looked ideal for a nice swim, bring your swim trunks next time mate (no budgie smugglers please LOL). Thanks for sharing Andy. Atb Sconja 👍
haha, yeah, nobody wants to see that :p Thanks mate.. got to see some things I really wanted to on this one.. can't wait till the next
First, then look at it 👍👍👍
Great video mate!
Thanks as always buddy
The video quality is immense 👍
Thank you very much indeed
Very nice 👍
Thanks Abe
Homesick now.
And I camped at that farm you camped at near fernworthy.
Miss Dartmoor, but have the south downs to explore now.
:) that farm is a brilliant spot :) always love going back to the moors, thanks Ben
Cool vid Andy Dartmoor very lovely countryside weather was excellent and you took water from the stream cool those dehydrated meals look excellent I've been looking at one on Amazon but been put off by how long it takes to do can't wait for next video keep up the hard work mate
Thank you :) first time on the moors without rain or snow haha
Moor lovely bro so lovely
You taking water was epic for me
Towards the end of this, with the scenery and sunset etc it was so relaxing and peaceful that I actually dozed off yesterday evening when attempting to watch it through after a ridiculously hot day in work. Another great video Andy. That quarry with the water in looks excellent. Reminds me of a much less scenic, but fun quarry I used to sneak up to and dive into years ago as a teenager. The land owners were actually a bit dangerous if you were caught though
haha, thanks buddy.. certainly not the first time Ive put someone to sleep im sure :p yeah, the quarry was amazing mate, I need to get back there for sure.
A really enjoyable time with you there Andy. The pace was just about right - I don;t think anyone was in a rush. And why would you be with such great weather rand beauty all around you. Yes? Si and his kettle action is well known in them parts and these. Good going. All the best. Mark
Thanks Mark, I have met the kettle haha, yeah.. was too hot to be rushing around and who'd want to with those views,
That's why they call it chill out Joe - meaning to slow down and cool down. Yes, them views have to be taken in. It was good one kettle and all......
Great camera work and beautiful country, I may have to visit it myself some time. Thumbnail is off the hook by the way, amazing shot, well done!
Thanks :) Its well worth a visit, amazing place :)
you sure picked some killer spots to camp in this one
didn't we just, loved it, amazing place, thanks Kaylynn
FRH comes in handy in that location, great preparedness due to lack of water👍
It certainly does, great little things :) Thanks for watching buddy
I really enjoyed watching that my fav place so far is Foggintor im not sure how i found it prob from a video like this. I did my first Solo there it was so quiet i not like the woods a few miles down the road where i didnt sleep till 5am when the sun came up lol flipping cacked it all those noises. Thanks again makes me wana go back again and again lolol
im def going to have to return to foggintor one day.. beautiful place :) Thanks for watching
Excellent video ,scenery was brilliant (who said it was never sunny on dartmoor it's not a myth lol) done a couple of yomps across there back in my younger day weather wasn't very pleasant wet and windy but still enjoyable looks like you had a good group of lads with you makes the trip much more enjoyable thanks for sharing ♠
this was my first time up there without rain or snow, I was careful about complaining that it was too hot lol, thanks mate
Amazing just Amazing a drone would be awesome Andy to capture the beauty of those spectacular views.
Thanks :) I am saving for one but apparently drones are now banned on the moors.. which I can kind of understand
Ahhh peace..nice and refreshing....just watching this before i go to signwrite a pub in Deal.
I see you keep your 'needs' to a bare minimum ..tent ..food etc.
Omelette and homemade
chips ...now your talking!
I enjoy the Dartmoor adventure vids you make...you must be due for a beach camp soon?
Steve Field hey, where do you work? I also work in signage down south!
Hello hello hello !!!! Hello...Steve chalk (field)..face book.
haha, carl packs heavy but he sure eats well... I can't be doing with that weight, bought that bag just so I wasn't tempted to take too much. Thanks for watching
What great place to camp....Beautiful landscapes....⛺️..🍺.....T .Gunz
They were 2 great spots, loved it, thanks for watching Tommy
Nice video Andy - Its nice to see you back on the moor.
ATB Mike
StayCornish😬
Thanks Mike, was great being back... hopefully see you on a future visit again mate
I think the old tents were best, but unfortunately a lot heavier...theses tents don’t go right to the ground at the edge ,letting in draughts.
But it’s still great fun,and lovely scenery there.
Thanks Andy..love your vids.
I know what you mean Susan but they are good for condensation etc. once in the bag you don't really feel it (very light though haha, thanks for watching
Andy awesome vid!!! The only thing I would change is using the swayer water filter to a pump filter!!! I use the Katadyn hiker pro to filter my water!! There nothing wrong with the swayer I just want to get water and not spend lot of time on it !!! Awesome views !!!!
Thanks buddy, yeah, I hear that.. pretty slow filter but it was life in it, ill use it a bit more and upgrade to a pump style for sure.. will check out the hiker pro, I know katadyn are a good company, thanks
Great Video!
VG
Tobias
Thank you Tobias
Typical late spring / early summer shots with foxglove flowering. And even so small on a screen you can tell the buzzard by its silhouette and the way if flies. I rather like the dutch name for foxglove, which means finger cap weed, very apt as indeed the flowers look like these things you put on your finger tips when sewing. Good to have both foxglove and great mullein in one's garden as the former flowers early and the latter keeps doing so late in the season, to the liking of bees, buterflies and such. And of course no way to weed dandelions from your lawn as they're among the earliest-flowering species and thence precious to those insects. Anyway, these flowers make lawns less boring...
You probably get to walk the same paths Ray Mears has walked... must be awe inspiring!
indeed, great man. Thanks for watching Cain
Dartmoor lovely vast area
No werewolves lol 🙂 👍 looks an ace place to get out buddy 🙂
haha, not that I saw.. few sheep remains though so who know ;) Thanks
Great vid Andy, how did you find the neo light air, the jury is still out for me, felt it was noisy and I was sliding off it constantly.....it's warm but the constant moving around on it put me off.
Hi Glenn, the noise doesn't bother me but the falling off and arms resting off I found uncomfortable, and it was supposed to be a treat to myself haha, ill decide if im keeping it after my next camp I think, shame
Nice one andy
Thanks mate :)
Some brilliant scenery there Andy! How do you find those Quechua boots for long distance hiking? I use the same ones but haven't been on any extended excursions since having them. Cheers!
Thanks Brett.. I've been using these boots for over a year (a lot) and they've held up great, I really like them
Love it when you show the things you find interesting. I especially love it when you take your time and pan slowly so that I can actually see the landscape. The video was a nice treat for a strange day. Much love.
Glad you enjoyed :) some amazing sites down there, thanks for watching :)
Nice one Andy. Good to a fellow camper with an Esbit stove. How do you get on with yours? I love mine
hey mate. Ive had my Nesbit for maybe 5 years or more, I used to take it everywhere, I do still like it though, I would like a flat lid though, rather than the mini pan.. they do them on other models, I wonder if they fit.
When I was a kid. Our church had camp for girls for a week. I had to go every yr for 4 yrs. Hated every minute of it. Now as an adult I love watching videos like yours. I 1 day hope to move to Alaska and live
funny isn't it.. I wasn't a fan as a kid either.. Alaska sounds great.. so much to explore :)
How long would the dehydrated food last usually?
Thanks for the vid.
Hey, Im not sure to be honest, I only do it before a trip, should be a while, especially if you're able to vacuum pack too, I saw in one of Joe robins videos that he keeps them in the freezer too, just to help keep longer. Thanks for watching
Thanks for the info.
Cool video man ;) Wahaaaaay go horsey :D
cheers haha, she kicked him the first time he tried :p
Kent Survival kinky ;) :D
What a bleak and harsh place that must be into winter. I don't know fully if this qualifies as the moor, but I remember Conan-Doyle writing in the Hound Of The Baskevilles about how sad and harried a people must have been to be driven to living on the moor, and I can't help but agree with the sentiment.
indeed, you'd have to have been rugged to live here in times of old, Ive been caught in surprise snow on the moors before, its quite unforgiving but well prepared it can be a beautiful place to explore, thanks for watching Ray
Kent Survival yes, it must have been a very unforgiving place for the unprepared. But very lovely, certainly, with the benefit of modern technology and plenty of food. And I'm sure that Sawyer came in handy too. I've always wanted to visit and wander there a bit. Sadly , I don't think I'll ever make it there . I'll just have to keep watching you . Keep up the good work. Cheers from the States
Kent Survival , and Andy, LOL, it's 'tor tee yahs', not 'tor till as'. Our Mexican friends will be horrified at your 'Anglification', if that is actually a word. 😁😁😁😁😁
And yes, I am quite aware that we Yanks have butchered many a fine English word ourselves.
Could you do us a vid on dehydrating foods, Andy? Cheers
to be honest, im really just a novice and wouldn't want to get anyone poisoning themselves.. maybe after more practice ill go in to more detail.
Andy, do you know what the most compact sleeping back is that goes down to the lowest temp rating? Generally it seems that you're restricted to summer camping if you want to keep backpack bulk down to the minimum. What do you reckon is the ultimate compromise? If you are prepared to pay enough can you get one that packs quite tiny but protects down to say minus 5? Can you say fit a small summer or autumn bag inside an emergency foil bivy & save space? Thanks.
Hi David.. I wish I had an answer to this but unless you wanna pay a lot of money it seems to be a case of having to put up with the weight. Liners will give you a couple of extra degrees but it seems to be that one thing that's a necessary evil for winter camping. I've been looking around lately and might try a snugpak but still looking at 2kg min
It depends on how you camp that makes it cool.
Thanks for watching Deborah, variety is the spice of life :)
at 16:50, the 'large hole in the ground' whereabouts is that? I've been to Foggintor Quarry, didn't spot that bit...
Hi, thats just the other side of the main road, quite visible from the trail leading to foggintor, thanks for watching
Thank you, I'll have to get back to that neck of the woods (not that I need more excuses...)
What places did u go to on Dartmoor to camp and go for a hike?
Thats where xc moto came from chasing sheep lol. You know y they were muck boots
Tanx yall lol sorry my scottish brothers
Good vids good filming. Really appreciate the quality and the fact that you place the camera then go back to collect it again it must make the walks so much longer and harder especially in the heat it's better than shakey action cam footage as some ppl use. I have seen some good footage of ppl using the new chest strap action cam gimbles to make filming easier. Not sure of the price though.
Thank you.. yeah, I think I hike twice the distance doing these videos haha. I do have an action camera and straps but Im not keen on the wide angle lens' Thanks for watching :)
Wow, i miss English county side 😕
Is that where Jeremy and Mark got lost in Peep show
Why not use tent with built in groundsheet?
I like this tent.. very versatile, can have an inner, ground sheet or as I usually use it.. without, lightweight and roomy.
Hi, is wild camping allowed in all AONB's ?
no, unfortunately not, Dartmoor has an online map showing permitted camping areas, some others 'tolerate' it as they have hikes that take over a day of walking. Thanks for watching
Thanks buddy, as always, first class video. I been to Dartmoore once on motorbike trip and its just breathtaking. beautiful part of the country. Hope you will upload more and more from your adventures. Have a god one bud!
Andy was that horse trying to hitch a ride ??? LOL
haha, she kicked him the first time he tried for a 'piggy back' :p
you should consider a bit of metal detecting in some of these areas...you never know what bit of history you may unearth....
Hi Bryan.. Its crossed my mind a few times actually, its a good call.. hopefully one day :)
Andy I've had the pleasure of her majesty pleasure Dartmoor weather got it's own weather I've know it to be sunny then snow then lightning Dartmoor to me is like Burmuda triangle with weather
you're so right.. first time there was a sunny may day which quickly turned to a snow storm haha, I was scared to complain about the heat in case it turned :p thanks for watching
That was a big pony
Cracking video my far eastern friend, although I can't believe you added the pony porn. If you're ever in the vicinity I'd happily come out with you again, good nature'd, good company
haha I couldn't leave that out.. should have had some sax playing ;) Thanks mate, that would be great, ill let you know when im coming back
That's a whole lot of land brother. Real pretty with a ton of history. Oh yah, thanks for the "my little pony" porn. hahaha...I was like okay, what am I watching here. lol...that looked like a fun excursion, right on. keep exploring brother!
368 square miles of it :) not many that size in the UK. Shame its a long drive from me. I did wonder about using that particular pony shot and thought I kind of had to haha, thanks buddy
Kent Survival lol...the ponies were fine, wildlife at its best. 👍👊☺
What did you think of the sawyer mini?👍
Ive had no issues, its not the fastest at filtering but it does back small which is always good and im not usually in a rush.. Ill probably get a pump style filter at some point to try out too.
