I get it. Reporting your adult children to CPS is really hard. But that is not the case in this travesty. By the sounds of it, everyone reported this monster.
@@heidimelendez5623 NO, HOW can you say that. Everyone did not report that monster. She had grandparents that did not even go to see her even on Thanksgiving. She could have but she did not.. She admitted she KNEW the child was being kept in the closet.
I can tell you that a lot can fail a child. I've tried for YEARS to get help for my daughter from DCF and they have chopped up the abuse from her father to two parents not getting along. Even after doctors calling DCF they REFUSE to do any real investigation. They have gone so far as to tell me that if I don't report abuse its a crime but if I do it's a crime and considered false accusations. The system is totally broken. Being the parent that is trying to help their child but can't feels like you are failing as a parent and your hands are tied. It has to be the worst feeling a parent can have?
If any monsters are reading this: YOU CAN PUT YOUR CHILD UP FOR ADOPTION. There is no need to starve and torture an innocent child to death. I work in child welfare and this case absolutely sickens me. She was failed by every single person in her life

Yes thank you for advocating! The information can be confusing for parents of older children. It’s my understanding that without someone willing to petition to adopt the child, placing your own child into foster care would be a chargeable offense of child abandonment? Obviously the charge of neglect and murder is worse. This poor baby. 😭
They know they have options, they choose not to because it's about control
PREACH. If for whatever reason you cannot handle being a parent, whether it life circumstances, mental health, etc., there are routes you can take that end MUCH better than this.
That’s what I don’t understand. Why do they even take them home from the hospital if they don’t want them? Why don’t they just surrender them to the hospital? Drives me fucking insane.
The department of Child and Family Services/CPS SHOULD be held accountable every single time a child dies while they are involved and have been involved prior!
They should be held accountable and police should be not given qualified immunity.
Because it leads to situations where someone dies directly due to their negligence, actions or lack thereof, or them not caring at all & acting accordingly.
It's sickening and disgusting and the rest of society has to look on, see or witness this trauma, then pay for these criminals to languish in prison.
you would think but I have personally called on a family member and they do NOTHING. I called on a Monday - they went out on a Tuesday and literally did NOTHING. This is a child that was conceived by a grand parent and his grand DAUGHTER.....and now they have a daughter and CPS did NOTHING and I am a Mandatory Reporter !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not even a DNA test and trust me when I say this child looks like a clone of the grandpa.......its horrific that CPS in Indiana operates this way I cannot even imagine where this case is to be honest I don't think I can watch THIS video - the ones with the kids are the hardest for me to watch :(
This is so dangerous, though, because for some reason, DCFs enjoys taking children who don't need to be taken while leaving ones who do. We see just as many cases were innocent families are destroyed by cps and that's just as disgusting as the cases like this were the child dies. There is a Netflix documentary, what about Maya, that talks of the dangers of cps. I'm scared that prosecuting individual workers will lead to many more situations like Maya. I completely understand that something has to happen to prevent these cases. I work with children and have seen cases like this and all I can think about when I watch these videos is that it could be one of those kids I know or in some cases it's the siblings of children who didn't survive. I don't know what the answer is. 😢
It's negligence when the parents don't take care of their children. These poor babies are not the responsibility of anyone but the parents. But since humans are disgusting we have to have someone step in.
its the result of the PARENTS actions. no one should go to prison for someone else's actions.
also, its not like anyone can stroll into a CPS job. you have to be qualified. how many people do you think went to all that trouble & expense, just to be like 'lol time to phone it in'? they are dealing with next level liars & manipulators who are dead-set on keeping their grip on their victims, it just comes across as for some reason not wanting to blame THE ACTUAL ABUSERS (why??) & demonize people whose job exists because OF abusers. Not the main issue, as kids are dying in foster care just as often.
CPS should also take responsibility. If there is an open CPS case, the child should be required to show up for routine well checks with the doctor. And CPS should be automatically alerted if they don't show up. They should insist on seeing the child.I am so sick of hearing about these poor babies who were completely failed by CPS. Never send a child back to the abuser!!! This needs to stop !!! ESPECIALLY if they abused a baby!!! It takes a special kind of scum bag to abuse a BABY!!!

The awful truth is that they are way too overworked to chase parents around. They have so many other cases to follow up on that they have to move on. They need more resources, but that doesn't excuse their responsibility in this case.
see my comment above. I am a mandatory reporter I reported a case of incest resulting in a child being born - a female child and they DID NOTHING. Not just that the house the baby lives in is a hoarder house and in an almost condemned state if you saw it you would think it was some abandoned shack animal feces and everything
Had my daughter been harming my grandson in ANY way, one of us would have been in jail and it wouldn't have been me.
When her grandpa said he feels guilty to eat sometimes… that’s how you know he loved her.

The system does suck. Poor baby girl. My nephew was abused by my aunt and her boyfriend. I reported it and they did nothing. My husband and myself have him. All the caseworker said was that she just wanted to close the case. It really infuriated me. 😢

I called on a provable case of incest resulting in a child being born living in an unsafe home that child is still there they came and knocked and told them there was a report - and never came back so now this poor baby girl is going to be raised by her mom and her great grandpa who is also her dad.......how messed up is this world

This happened not too far from where I live and I feel so bad for the grandfather who wanted to adopt her, but CPS told him that there was a reunification plan in place. The grandmother and the boyfriend sacrificed this poor little girl in order for her to keep her other children! All three of these monsters can rot in HELL!!!
The "mother" was not human, she was a monster. DCFS needs to be held accountable

I've got full custody of my 9yr old granddaughter. And she loves it here. All she talks about is how she loves being here. No fighting, no addicts running in and out of her house and God kmows what these creeps were thinking when it came to her. She is so tall and looks like shes a teenager instead of a 3rd grader. My son being the worthless parent he is, I have no idea he would take a life really quick if he had a clue someone was doing anything to her..I said just keep them away from your house they are just losers bums and have no business being there. But shes been with us for 2 yrs in October. It was the best move for her and shes perfectly content. So I don't get thrse grand parents at all. The whole family is abusive trash. They don't need any child in their care.
This makes me want to become a social worker. I know that it's a broken system but I want to help these children somehow.
OMG...That baby girl looks SO SAD...omg you can see the distress in her eyes and all over her face, she looks worn with it and she is JUST a little baby girl! I am telling you right now if ANYONE ever sees a child with that much obvious sadness on their face you MUST report and keep reporting it until that child is removed from that situation PERIOD! Little kids have a precious innocence in their eyes, a over all look of hope, of wonder on their face...omg that poor baby...I dont think I can do this one Rachel, I just can't, if I can't even watch it can you imagine how that baby felt actually going through it?
Heartbreaking, this system is an absolute joke. I had a friend who fell into drugs and became pregnant, the baby was severely neglected from day 1… I, along with other friends, her family, and the baby’s dads family, all called CPS over and over again to report how badly they were neglecting that child. It took 5 years before he was removed from the home. He had been diagnosed as autistic and non verbal… as time went on in his new home the doctors said that they actually didn’t believe that diagnosis to be true, his lack of social skills and trouble speaking were a result of his parents never communicating with him properly. He was never read to. Never cared for. He is doing much better now, thank God, but he will be forever impacted by their failure to intervene sooner.
Cases like this always make me so angry. I know several families who have fostered and adopted children. They have to have home inspections and interviews and shell out thousands of dollars to prove they are able to care for a child. It can take years. Yet people like Kinsleigh's "parents" can mistreat their children in the worst ways and still get to keep them. I will never understand. Kinsleigh deserved so much better. Rest in the arms of the angels, precious girl.

I've said this so many times there should not be a focus on unity. The children need to be protected, that is being said by a survivor of severe abuse. These cases literally bring me to my knees.
This is so horrific it’s almost unbelievable. The entire time she was telling the story I kept thinking to myself “no way this is real “. And then it just kept getting worse and worse. This has got to be one of the most horrific things I’ve ever heard. I am in tears for this little girl. This is heartbreaking.
I'm 45 and I knew since I was 8 that CPS is a garbage excuse of a group. They never cared and it's sad that I knew that since I was a child. I remember how hard my grandparents struggled to get my cousin out of the home cause of her p*do father, took them a few years constantly working to do it. I always hated the government agencies stating they are there to protect, cause when a kid of all things knows too young that you can't rely on them there is a huge problem. I had run ins with them and what I figured out is they go after people who don't harm the kids, but ignore the ones who are obviously doing it.
I say let's make a petition about this and get enough signatures. A change needs to happen!

Just because someone birthed the child, that doesn't mean the child should be placed with them! Especially if another family member can care for the child and provide safety, love, and stability. That parent can see the child at the family members house if a relationship with that parent should be considered okay for that child's health and mental health.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, CPS needs to be held accountable when a child dies while they are involved with or priorly involved with said family. It is their direct actions and lack of acting that aided in the death of a child. Until they are held accountable this will continue happening over and over again. Legislation needs to make this a law. Let's see how many caseworkers do their job and document adamantly after that. This is another child that should have been safe and loved and cared for and that monster locked her in a closet and starved her. Who does this to a child!?! And eye for an eye, I'm sorry but I believe in cases like this the perpetrator should be given the same treatment as their victim, Toni should be locked in a closet with no food or water or light until she dies. She doesn't deserve to sit comfortably in a jail eating or being afforded aby luxuries or decency. Everyone who knew what was going on and did nothing should also be given this punishment. Toni didn't deserve her kids, any of them, they needed to be removed and CPS should have tried alot harder to find her. This is horrific abuse no child should endure. RIP baby girl

Not every CPS worker is in the wrong. In this case every kid should have been seen. We do the best we can. It is a thankless job but we are not the ones harming the kids. This whole case is heart wrenching.

I can understand reunification if a parent has drug or alcohol problems but the child wasn't being abused. If a child is being starved and beaten by the parent on purpose because they are evil, then it does not matter how many classes or whatever the parent does to get "better", they will continue to abuse the child. They are sick in the head.

This case is heartbreaking and scares me on a personal level. I have a family member that had 2 daughters that she neglected badly because she was on drugs. She lost them girls and another family member adopted them and are giving them an amazing life. Meanwhile she goes and has 2 mire kids. These 2 children have been taken away multiple times and my brother has taken them in. Him and his wife cannot have children on their own but they have fell in love with these 2 kids only to have them.jerked away to reunite them with their abusive and neglectful mother. This time they have had these kids for over a year. And still all they keep hearing is about reunification smh. The mother does not deserve her kids back. She has shown over and over and over again that she cannot handle the life of being a mother. But yet my brother and his wife are raising these kids and showing them a good.life for more than likely cps to put them back in filth and abuse. Our system is so broken!!! It needs fixed. I hope the pos people from these case all rot in prison!!! Prison is too good for what they have done but I don't want to get flagged for what I'd really like to say.
I agree that the ultimate goal should be family reunification, but it should never come at the expense of a child. I feel like nothing's ever going to change unless we start holding these workers responsible for not doing their jobs. If you want to slack off, then go work at McDonald's, but you cannot drop the ball when there are so many precious lives on the line.

Yes DCS needs to be held accountable. I hope the inmates make life a living hell for the mom, boyfriend & grandma. They should NEVER be allowed to do this again.

I watched this from New Zealand and it made me so deeply furious and upset, because our child protection agency has also done things like this. Where the hell did the principle of having a child with its biological family above all else come from? I can understand the harm done when children are uplifted from stupid, neglectful parents who do love their kids but just don't know how to parent. In those cases, I can see how if the parents do parenting courses and PROVE they have changed and can be proper parents, then yes, let the child/ren go back, but ONLY with very close supervision and monitoring, and if the child/ren love their parents and want to go back. But not a blanket principle that is applied in all cases regardless of the situation!!!
But this....! OMG it's clear that mother had zero love or feelings for her daughter, wasn't going to change as far as the living conditions went, and there is no mention of her doing classes or cleaning up her home.
As for the DCFS workers, they should be charged. They were absolutely USELESS. Kinsleigh's death is in large part due to their ineptitude. Why is it that a layperson can have more common sense than these trained idiots?! I would want to take that poor little girl out, tell the mother she had 3 days to clean up her disgusting, filthy home, that it would be inspected before there was any consideration of the child/ren being returned, and weekly thereafter, and that wellness checks for her daughter (and the others) would be done frequently. Any slip-ups or "not being available" and the kid/s would be gone and child allowances stopped.
As for the boyfriend, how can you "love" a woman who lives worse than a pig and abuses her child?? Sick. What kind of man ignores the fact there is a little girl in a closet full of excrement, and barely fed or given a drink?!
And the maternal grandmother - what is wrong with these subnormal people? I firmly feel we all have to get super hard on these types of people. They don't understand anything else.
Sooo... How many more children have to die before DCFS is held responsible???!!! I watch a lot of true crime and I've watched a lot of cases regarding children. In my opinion 1 child is one too many cases!!

I don’t understand how child service case workers do not get prison time when they don’t do their jobs properly? These people go to school for social work,go to child care & child developmental certificate classes,nutrition classes,CPR/emergency care courses,etc.So many case workers let children slide through the cracks blaming having too many cases and not enough case workers. If that is so then a priority case list needs to be made and high risk & child endangerment cases should be top priority. So all child neglect cases get seen,monitored,proper investigations,and reports made.
When a child dies due to neglect from case workers then the case workers should also be held accountable just like those guardians that neglect the child. Instead case workers get reprimanded,fired,or the option to resign so it stays off employment record and able to get another job in social services.
