"Backed up by sacred scriptures". Well I guess that settles that once and for all.
I really don't know how that priest kept a straight face when he said that. I think it's only because he's been calling it in for years and the pandemic has finally exhausted him.
Yeah, but I know he's wrong, because I have these stone tablets written by the great, all powerful JuJu under the sea.
@@pdoylemi I bet you can read them with a deciphering stone with just the right peek of light while looking in a hat.
@@letsomethingshine
No - I just use my Dick Tracy secret decoder ring!
That raises a question...
How can we know whether a scripture is sacred if it could just be the work of a man who's memory and imagination was being affected by a demon?
If we can't tell which if any texts are sacred should we treat any of them as credible?
Father Lambert appears to make an excellent argument from pragmatism for... pragmatism.
these ppl make flat earthers look like intellectual giants
I like the flames behind the insert of the priest talking... very appropriate
Demon possession, a good excuse for 'demonising' the mentally ill, or an excuse for bad behaviour!!
The devil made me fiddle with those choirboys!!
My boyfriend's dad believes I am a demon. As such I have magic powers and he reckons that I made his son gay by removing the holy spirit from him using sage (the herb) then used cloves to make him susceptible to sexual corruption. This is so insane it is part of my backstory in D&D.
I just have to ask... what class is your character?
@@bludfyre Bard Artificer. He hit 20 and retired to become the Chef of Hell and artificer of forbidden things eventually becoming a god of knowledge, and freedom in his role as an NPC.
“Believing is seeing” pretty much sums it up.
"...a demon can act on a person's memory and imagination".
Huh. You know who else can do that? The person. But no, that's silly, a boogeyman makes much more sense.
As American philosopher Flip Wilson used to say, "The devil made me do it!"
Philosopher!!! Haha!
If Calvinism is true, God made him do it.

So well said. Love it!!!

Hey, Mr. D - off topic, but did you notice on another thread what WildwoodClaire said to me? She has been diagnosed with ALS. Tight as money is, I will be donating to the ALS Association - small payback for all the information and entertainment she gave me in the past watching "Coffee with Claire". If you have a way to encourage others to do the same, it would be far better than "thoughts and prayers" as we know. She taught me a lot about geology while entertaining me with her creationist debunks. Who knows? Maybe our money will help fund a breakthrough that may extend, or save her life.
@@pdoylemi Awww. Wildwood Claire is such a sweetheart. I am truly sad that she is suffering. If you are in contact, please convey my best wishes, and I'm sorry I can do no more (btw, she won't know me from sh*t, but hey!). I will donate to ALS research, very least I can do.
I was brought up being forced to go to church, Sunday school, and confirmation. Fortunately for me all I could see were fantastical stories, and I never believed any of that stuff.
I wholeheartedly support the wearing of body cams for priests, especially those involved in exorcism, but also, you know.. all other priests.
I like how Cam asked dude for some examples and dude didn't give any.
In the part of the long version I was able to endure he gave a bit but admitted a fellow priest did not see/hear/experience exactly what he did, so back to tricks of the mind, sorry, tricks of the demon on the mind to deceive the righteous (his experience could have been accurate and the other priest distracted or deceived of course)(or everyone deceived differently). By the end of his list of possibilites it's obvious he just picked one "by faith". And no bodycam would affect that.
@@kathryngeeslin9509 Fair enough, I just figured he was avoiding giving outright examples because they'd sound ludicrous.
@@rafetizer That too. He often danced around the details.
@@rafetizer Don't worry. He does give some, and they don't disappoint your expectations.
“If you are going to tell people the truth, you better be funny…” Mr Dalton, sir, you accomplished both and have cheered me up immensely. Thank you.
You would think the Catholic church would have noticed that demon possessions seems to be limited to the Catholic church, but they seems to be fully convinced that the devil prefers to possess Catholics for some weird reason, then again they still eat Jesus like there were no tomorrow for that poor guy, or the poor guys that expect him to return any minute!
Don't forget that they also wear and display images of their messiah's brutal murder all the time, work their major religions symbols being an instrument of torture.
Unfortunately it’s not limited to the Catholic Church. Note the witch children in Nigeria.😕
"believing is seeing"......intellectual dishonesty in a nutshell.
Just another manipulative way of saying "believe in order to believe" otherwise known as "faith."
One thing's for sure. The Devil did Cam's hair. Scary...
"Dumbasskiss" made me LOL, for reals. Love you, Bri!
What is it about this period in history that seems to be making all the crazies say the quiet part out loud?
They're running scared because their numbers are in decline. They're getting desperate.
They've been doing that all the time. They now just have facebook, twitter and youtube instead of the town square.
@@tabularasa0606 True, and you are more likely to get caught now. Still, just in the last couple of decades, there's been a sharp rise in people saying the quiet parts out loud in interviews and press conferences even on national television. I think social media may be pushing things that used to be mostly behind closed doors right out onto the world stage. It seems to make people more comfortable spouting ignorant and hateful nonsense in mixed company. It's as if they equate their acceptance in the bubble of their own little dark corner of the interweb as proof they are right and shouldn't be ashamed to scream it from the rooftops. I don't mind people making fools of themselves in public (they have every right to do so) but they are also throwing a monkey wrench into progress on many important policy issues that affect everyone else.
@@bdf2718 Yes, their crazier and crazier (and trust me, as they are evil deep inside they will go crazier and crazier) antics are a clear signs of possession by the pitifully toxic demon of obvious desperation.

I love the add before your show asking me to buy a Bible secrets for wealth book.
I'm not sure I've ever heard anyone so completely impeach their own credibility as effectively as Lambert.
It's almost as though he's saying we should believe everything he says based upon his inability to separate delusion from reality.
I noticed one single down-vote. It must have been the Devil.
Or Cameron…
No - that was "God". He is notoriously thin skinned.
@@pdoylemi Yes, and very "effeminate" ...and also "jealousy itself" all 3 things of the many things that Apostle Paul wrote that he hated while collecting money... how odd.
The absurdity of religion is some of my favorite comedy. It's too bad there are so many deluded people on this planet, and too bad you can't just wake them up with reason.
The body cam idea is great. Ah but then the priest said the paranormal activity is not actually real as the demon is only deceiving the brain. What hogwash!! Cameron must really really want to believe or have some other motivation to peddle Christianity.
"Believing is seeing" (specifically, seeing things which aren't really there)
The bible has flaming swords, flying chariots, talking animals, giants, monsters, parting seas, magic words, resurections, rivers of blood, the sun stops, the stars fall, and a giant "whore" rides a seven headed dragon out of the sea. Ancient myths and tall tales.
Wow! You just explained why, since I have been in love with someone who loves flowers, I not only notice every flower, but find deep beauty in every one of them! "If you're predisposed to seeing things, you probably will". But I think my version of being predisposed to seeing (particular) things is much healthier than the ones Cameron and the father were talking about, because even if I am hallucinating the beautiful flowers, they are beautiful and enjoyable to me .... However, the woman I love might wonder about the blank pictures I send her.
This series just gets better and better. You're hilarious.
Saying that "religion makes people stupid" implies that stupid can be cured.
No. Just the opposite! It means otherwise intelligent people can be/are made stupid by religion.
Ah! "Coffee with Claire"! Where have you been? I started a series based on that called "Beer and Bullshit" (since I do not like coffee) but a divorce and subsequent clinical depression torpedoed it early on. It is great to see you still here!
@@pdoylemi Hi Pat. Sorry your channel did not work out. Shortly before retirement I began experiencing symptoms that were eventually diagnosed as the onset of ALS . Regrettably, I am no longer able to produce content.
@@misterdeity Does it not logically follow that, having been rendered "stupid" by religion, one could be cured by detoxing from religion? I rarely disagree with you, but I think stupid is a permanent, incurable condition and religion merely serves as one of many possible launch platforms for its corrosive effects. Many profoundly stupid people find ways other than religion to express toxic stupidity, for example through grotesque political movements or belief in bizarre conspiracy theories and pseudo-science. Their obsessions did not make them stupid, they were always stupid but found a convenient, particularly destructive way of expressing it.

You would think that God would have designed humanity with aluminum skulls that would deflect any attempts by Satan to confuse us mentally. Missed opportunity, I guess. Of course, we would have a new respect for lightening in that case...
[...] and the church consistently taught that [the devil is real] throughout our history and it's backed up by "sacred" text.
God damn, this is freaking stupid on so many levels it hurts to hear it. "X is true if Y is true. Y is true because it says it is. Checkmate atheists!"
Edit: Really bad grammar.
Being wrong about something for a long time (even from the beginning of time) doesn't make it right.
"Foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds."
Demons, scapegoats, enemies, they're all conceptually the same thing, rendered tangible for the masses, and used as a convenient push-off point, for whenever your own position doesn't have any solid footing of its own.

When children say they were molested by the priest the Church says they are making it up but when the priest says there are demons that's right. For one of these there are multiple examples of incontrovertible evidence. The sort of evidence used in courts in many countries to convict many priests. For the second claim there is no evidence that any court would admit. Assuming a room temperature IQ or better, which one is more likely? Which one should the church direct its resources to solving?
You are hilarious! 😁

“Believing is seeing”? So, once you believe, THEN you will see. 🤦♂️

@Atheos B. Sapien ok
Seriously. In my pre-teens, the last time I've been in a church, even then the only reason I went was to hear the cool stories about devils and demons.
The priest here is kinda missing the point with the whole "Gawd made the universe and everything in it" schtick, that means that Gawd had to create evil too, evil is part of his plan, there's no way around that.
He admits that very thing in Isaiah.
Dementia... I lost my faith in Gods long before I cared for my mother during her long decline. If I hadn't lost that faith before those years, those years would have done it.
Even if you could take christianity seriously, It seems to me that the "devil wrote the bible" and told everyone it was god. That makes more scenes.
I’ve always thought this. If the Bible is meant to be taken literally it has to be a trick by the devil to get people to think god is cruel.
Devil wants nothing to do with that foul book, humans are gonna piss him off if we keep speaking for him. Fair Warning
Or the devil is God. I mean he killed all the first Borns in Egypt, committed multiple genocides, accepts animal sacrifices, AND impregnated a teenage girl without her consent. Sounds pretty evil to me
@@lusciouslipslibra Oh come on now. Don't forget the megalomania and the infinite, soul crushing insecurity causing the constant need for reassuring praise.

Stories were written about leprechauns long ago. Stories in which you had eye witness accounts, so....
One other thing: 2:13 "If you're a person of faith, believing is seeing." I've always known religious people see what they want to see - I think that's why the pedopriests got away with it for so long, because nobody within the organization wanted to see it so they just didn't. Still I never imagined I would hear a priest admit the existence of faith-blindness on camera.
Love that term - faith blindness!

I’ve been watching atheist UA-cam for a couple years ago, so how am I only now finding out about Mister Deity!? This guy is amazing! 5:41 “…Saul on the road to Dumb-ass-kiss” killed me! 🤣😂
You know what else is "backed up by sacred scripture" padre? That it is God who creates evil. (Isaiah 45:7) So the people really in need of exorcism are those possessed by the spirit of the Lord.
Not only that, but it says three different times in the Bible that God actually sent an "evil spirit"to someone.

The background fire is a nice touch.
Ok, let's say a person has become the demon's sock puppet. I say the demon is God's meta-sock puppet. Father thinks it's the demon's voice coming out of the person but it's really God controlling the demon controlling the person. Prove me wrong. I know I must be right because God is all-powerful and therefore is the Master Hand Who Ultimately Controls All Sock Puppets.

I don't think you can blame religion for making Cameron stupid. He did a pretty good job all on his own. To be fair, though, he's got a knack for getting cash out of those more stupid than him. When attempting to make a comedic point it isn't necessary to list every possible contender for the position... only a representative few.
Lori Lightfoot can definitely look crazy at times ("Don Knotts eyeballs").
However, if one looks at the crazy across the political spectrum today there is an unfortunate concentration of extreme crazy on the right. Not to suggest there isn't some crazy on the left.
It's pretty hard to meet the level of crazy in word, deed, and appearance of Marjorie Taylor Greene, Matt Gaetz, Lauren Boebert, Louie Gohmert, and the former Michele Bachmann. Had you put any of these characters into a C-grade TV show script 20 years ago you would be kicked out for being too over-the-top-crazy. And yet... they are now part of our current or recent reality.

Too me evil demons are more believable. I mean, shit happens is a real experience for everyone, but when good shit happens it can usually be traced to a person helping you out in someway. If there are unseen supernatural forces they certainly outnumber the good ones.
@@squareheadjack1918 , Key word in your response Bryan was "believable". Let me explain, what if we went with facts not beliefs at all. When we encounter things we don't have facts on we simply think "Gee, I don't know." Which is fine don't you think? I mean what I know can fit in a thimble, what I don't know about say ancient languages is mind boggling. So I would respond "Gee I know so little about ancient languages I'll have to say I don't know and right now man kind doesn't know...maybe ever." And that is fine.
The Amazing Randy (now deceased sadly), offered a million dollar prize for proof of the "Supernatural"... and no one ever met the burden of proof. Finally as you write "IF" there are unseen forces... yes my friend that is a big "if". Maybe our world doesn't need demons evil or otherwise...as our world is pretty wild in itself...with parasites to curl your blood to microbes who withstand boiling and freezing. Peace to you Bryan.
@@Reason1717 I thought the gist of ur comment was that a malevolent supernatural being was less believable that a benevolent supernatural being. It’s all supernatural bullshit, but I can kind of understand the creation of a malevolent being that must be pleased to prevent disaster, than the creation of an infinitely good being. For ancient suffering, toiling, dying people, why would they ever think there was a good god?

@@javaskin Is that what the out-of-focus red-orange goop around the edges of the screen was supposed to be - fire? If so, the effect wasn't very good. I mean, I've seen fire, and I've seen rain, but I've never seen fire that looked like orange water.
The sound effect still sounds to me more like typing than wood burning...maybe Cameron was going for the sound of brimstone percolating.
@@Dwayne_Bearup I put the fire in the background. I dimmed it and blurred it so that it wouldn’t be too distracting. Apparently that didn’t work for you.
