    It seems that the best way to keep a demon from causing a person to climb the walls, levitate, or spin their head completely around is to bring a camera to the exorcism.

    When I was a Catholic, getting possessed by a demon was my greatest fear. Seriously, I was totally convinced I could be controlled by an evil spirit for... reasons. After years of slowly outgrowing my faith, I one day realized that the concept of sin was completely untrue and without that, the whole religion fell to pieces; I was relieved beyond words. Partly because I could finally stop being afraid, and partly because, without a god, the world made sense.

    A childhood friend told me he was once levitated in the presence of a priest. I was utterly fascinated! The fact that his eyes were closed and it felt like he never left the floor didn't even clue me in on what might have actually happened until I started disbelieving god and the supernatural: *He was tricked into believing it happened!* Either that or he lied about the whole thing. I had to get my head out of the sand before I could think logically.

      The only time I was ever levitated in the presence of a priest, I was a kid and ended up on his lap.........may not have been such a spirit-driven experience now that I think of it.

    I'm currently dealing with this stupidity. I'm a home health nurse & one of my 92 year old patients has dementia. Well, the family are religious NUTS & they think she is "possessed with demons". The daughter told me she tried to "slap the demon out of her" & the lady had a big bruise on her face. I immediately called EMS, had the lady transported to the ER & then called Adult Protective Services. So sad this lady will not be able to go back to her OWN home & will more than likely be put in a nursing home.

    He watched the exorcist and thought it was real.
    Quite a few years ago I went to a pentecostal church, as they were praying people would watch around and put a persons back.
    As I was praying the were softy pushing me back and forth trying to get me to sway back and forth.
    Since I was in the ARMY I used to standing for a long time and never kept my knees locked so I would not fall out in formation.
    They were trying to get me to fall back so I felt the spirit was in me.
    I never went back to that church.
    It did however take me about forty years to shed religion altogether.

    Interesting observation about societies past and present is that they never make a law or prohibition against something that does not happen within said society that they deem undesirable or in a negative light. The same thing happens in religions as well.
    Now you are a Christian and you see demons every where and you have been told repeatedly that demons are out to get you! Your religion tells you that if you are a good little Christian you will be rewarded with an eternal afterlife. The early Christians who had a short and miserable life would trade the here and now with an eternal paradise in the afterlife and take an active hand in ending their lives. Is it any wonder why the early church leaders would determine that suicide was a sin, very hard to retain members when they keep on killing themselves.

    • @holz_name
      @holz_name 3 роки тому

      I don't think the pastor is making this up. Just go to a magic show and witness all the supernatural. Magic shows work because people want to believe. What we see and remember is not always what was actually happening. I'm sure that in his mind he believes that he saw demons and people crawling up walls like spiders. This is the saddest part of religion, it elevates personal believes to Truths. Believing is the evidence. "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen."

    • @tenzek4635
      @tenzek4635 3 роки тому +1

      @@holz_name Are you suggesting the magician at a magic show doesn't know he's faking? Either your analogy missed or you're presenting something that I am not prepared to believe. I'm sure, in his mind, people believing this is cash.

    • @holz_name
      @holz_name 3 роки тому

      @@tenzek4635 The priest is not the magician, the priest is the audience. The magician is the person who is "possessed". Of course the magician at a magic show knows that she is faking. But what if you have a magician who doesn't know? You have people who wholeheartedly believe in demons and possessions and they know (by instinct, not by design) how to give a convincing performance.
      You just need to look at the evangelical churches, how people talk in tongues, get miraculously healed, dancing around. It's the same mechanism as hypnosis. Hypnosis works because people give a convincing performance under group pressure. So you have both, the magician (the "possessed") and the audience (the priest) who participate in a magic show. The difference is of course that both truly believe that the magic is real.
      The "possessed" gives a convincing performance and the priest is fully open to the experience, willing to accept the performance as a true demon possession. The "possessed" is of course not aware that she gives just a performance, but also believes that she is truly possessed. Our brains are really good in giving convincing performances, only people with Asperger syndrome are bad at it. Our brains basically evolved to give such performances, and we do this every second of our lives when we interact with others.
      Moreover, both then start to "see" stuff that wasn't there. Levitation for example. Children do this for fun. Children play a game where they levitate a friend, Light as a feather, stiff as a board. Of course the friend doesn't levitate, but in the minds of the children it does. The difference here is that we don't elevate a child game to the Truth, but in religion we do. The priest believes and so it becomes the Truth. Believing is the evidence. And the more confidence you have in your belief, the more evidence you have.

    Let’s go back to the story of the Garden in Genesis. Consider there are four characters. Adam, a man. Eve, a woman. Yahweh, a creator god. And Lucifer (or satan). Yahweh and Adam are chatting. Yahweh tells Adam and Eve that they can eat of the fruit of any tree in the garden, except one, because if they eat from that tree, they will die. Later Satan is hanging around and says, “it’s not like that. It’s not going to happen…” to Eve. So Eve (the first scientist I might add) tests the hypothesis. Adam sees her do it and does it himself.
    To review, Yahweh made a claim. Eve tested it and the claim was false. Adam tested it too.
    Yahweh figures out something is different so he asks Adam and Eve about it.
    Adam tells the truth and says “I saw her do it, so I did it.”
    Eve says, “the snake (Satan) told me that I wouldn’t die..”
    What we see here is an all knowing god, make claim, that was false. The first person to tell the truth about the situation was Satan. The first scientist ever (to test the hypothesis) was Eve. Everyone but Yahweh told the truth in the garden of eden.
    So now I’m being told that the devil/satan is going to deceive me…
    I know that people will defend Yahweh’s lie by saying, “he meant spiritual death..” or some such nonsense.
    The problem is, a lie by omission, is still a lie.
    Yahweh the politician.. when caught lying, just changed the meaning of the words.

      I agree with this premise and have for years except for the detail that there is nothing at all to indicate the serpent was anything other than your average garden (of eden) variety talking serpent. If it was Satan then Yahweh cursing it to crawl on it's belly in the dust for all time didn't seem to take according to the rest of the book. There's very little Satan in the BuyBull, but there are a couple of other characters co-opted into the job to pad him out. The serpent being the first.

      @@craigjomaia I have no issue with what you said. Realistically (while talking about a myth) wether it was a talking snake or Satan or Loki, doesn’t really change anything. I’d really like it if it was Loki though, variants rock…

      Everett Vinzant, but wait, the serpent wasn't satan, just the most clever of the animals yahweh made. And, there were 2 trees. The tree of knowledge and the tree of life! So, adam and eve were not created to live forever, which negates the christian claim that sin brought death, or that god lied when he said they would die that day! Plus, if the fruit gave knowledge, the dumb woman would have immediately grabbed from the tree of life, for immortality! Why would being naked suddenly bug her? None of it makes sense, except to primitive people . Though I loved your point. 👍🥰✌🌈

    Wait... did he say that a person picked up a desk chair over their head as if that's some impressive feet. So what if the person didn't even weight over 100 pounds that's still not impressive or unbelievable. Desk chairs are incredibly light. Even as child I could do what he described and I couldn't even lift more than 15 pounds. Desk chairs are rather awkward to lift because of the swivel but they aren't heavy at all. If you told me it was a lazy boy that would be more impressive if they some how could lift that with one hand.
