    During the Middle Ages in France (I forget the year), there was a pond in which leeches did abound. Folks couldn't swim there without getting a few of the pesky pests on them. Some French clergyman of high status -a bishop? pronounced a curse upon the leeches and commanded them in the name of God to abandon the pond or face eternal damnation. History does not tell us if the leeches so departed. Perhaps the clergyman was Copeland in a previous life.

    “Whenever you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, because they love to pray while standing in synagogues and on street corners so that people can see them. Truly I say to you, they have their reward. But whenever you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you” (Matthew 6:5-6).

    I realize the answer is going to be that they don't, or that confirmation bias means they never consider: But the whole idea of prayer and heaven and all these things are really baffling to me. When I was a child, I thought about prayer and realized it couldn't possibly work. Either God has a plan or he doesn't. If he does, prayer is meaningless. If he doesn't, and he decided what will happen based on prayers; then in what meaningful way can we call him all good or all knowing. If he knows everything, he doesn't need your prayers to decide. If he is all loving, he doesn't need your prayers to decide what is right. If he doesn't do something good because no one prayed for it, he isn't good. If he needs the prayer to find out about the good thing that needs doing, he isn't all knowing.
    Heaven is a similar problem. If Heaven is real, and some of my friends and family that I love aren't there with me forever, it isn't Heaven. If I would be altered so I won't worry about that, I am not me. If I marry, will I stay married in Heaven? What if I re-marry after my spouse dies? What if I never marry, will there be dating in Heaven? At various times in history, polygamy was accepted. Would I be married to both spouses? What if they don't like each other? I'm bored most of the time now, what happens after 10,000 years when I am bored out of my mind? If I have been altered so I don't get bored, am I still me? If you think about it for more that a few minutes it all falls to pieces.

I’d volunteer to take it on but I’d just hype up the devil all the time. “Yeaaah Satan. The light! That’s right! Mr. Deity, damn, the juxtaposition was really hard, you on, I smile. Crepizoid copeland, I gag. Actually, I saw an interview, the girl from one of the morning news shows. He tried to be charming, I threw up in my mouth a few times during that. I wanted to see if he'd admit to saying he had to have multiple private jets because he couldn't ride in a 'tube with demons', the public, lol. He exemplifies the word creepy! It's probably his picture in the dictionary under the definition of the word. Thankyou for skipping the blow spit thing he did! 👍🥰✌💯💫🎃

    I have sincere empathy with the guy standing next to Copeland, who has to pretend that Copie has an actual conversation with the Coronavirus (or Jesus, but the virus is at least real), by filling up the gaps when the virus takes a little longer thinking what to answer.

    I know this is a bit off topic, my apologies, but this has always baffled me and if someone could help me understand (even a little bit) it would be much appreciated.
    Anyway... If you count the years between birth and the age where I could make up my own mind about whether or not I would follow the religion I was born into, I was a Catholic for about 25 years. I never bought into all the rules, teachings, and dogma of the Church but I was a practicing Catholic and have to admit that I was quite credulous to believe some of the things I accepted as fact back then. That being said, it never ceases to amaze me how people can take preachers like the clowns in this video seriously. I believed I could talk to and make requests of an all powerful being that loved me, even though he would torture me for eternity if I didn't live up to his expectations, but if I ever encountered a priest talking in that manner and saying those absolutely bat-shit crazy things I would have exited that church, immediately called someone in the archdiocese to report that Father So-And-So needed to be removed from his duties because he's lost his fricking mind, and then I would have called a plastic surgeon to see what I could have done about lowering my stuck, raised eyebrow and fixing the open-mouthed look of shock plastered across my face. I get the power of indoctrination, as I was certainly a victim of it myself, but this style of preaching is so over-the-top I really can't understand how people can accept it as normal. Would people who attend these congregations find it odd if a teacher started acting and speaking in such an absurd manner? What if a mayor, police chief, a doctor, or some other respected member of the community did such things? Do they compartmentalize and consider this behavior only acceptable while in church or from a preacher?

    • @Reason1717
      @Reason1717 3 роки тому +2

      StoneE4, Darn good question you raise here. Here is my small take on it from knowing folk who listen and attend such "Bat shit crazy" sermons as this. They get their craziness in does over a long period of time, till it actually seems normal. I know a man personally who goes to these meetings with faith healers (clearly frauds) and accepts the rampant silliness that you or I may chuckle at. Why do they not question it? because do so means maybe, just maybe ALL of it is crazy...losing their faith scares them.

    • @StoneE4
      @StoneE4 3 роки тому

      @@Reason1717 : Sure, I guess I get _(to a certain degree)_ the familiarity angle... Even outside of indoctrination the absurd can seem more normal through repeated exposure, especially when one constantly sees his peers accept such things without question. But I'm wondering if they truly equate these kinds of untethered ramblings with conviction? Is it a "take him seriously but not literally" kind of thing? Would they accept this kind of nonsense from people other than preachers?
