I like how Saint-14 becomes depressed when he learns that Eliksni children see him as the Boogeyman. He's not just some jock musclehead. He has a conscience and a heart, and he genuinely tries and wants to be a better person.
I’d say it’s more then Boogeyman, the monster cutscene shows that Saint was…well, harsh to say the least, he literally beat Fallen to death in his bubble, Saint is more like the devil himself walking into your room and saying “Hey”
It’s fitting that Saint’s subclass: Sentinel, reflects his personality. Saint is a protector with a big heart and empathy for others, willing to shield others from harm, and show kindness to those he trusts. Though, his love can make him blind, like when Savathun used Osiris’ body to fool everyone, even Saint. Who believed it wasn’t him, but didn’t want to believe it.

He could be saying that he and his people wouldn't want to see weakened life forms suffer. Then later in the season you get greater cultural context. On the other hand he could also be saying "Yeah we would bow to your demands because of the horror your power could inflict on us since you're basically a living boogeyman who slaughtered our friends and family members by the thousands." MAN I LOVE THIS STORY.
You never realize how much of a monster you are when the very thing you saught to destroy shows you your false reality of being the hero when you are infact a villain

It was mostly about survival, and even if it was about revenge, frankly at that point I cannot see how any moral person could say that isn't justified. They never gave a chance for dialogue except to lure humans into traps, they committed war crimes in excess of almost anything in our own history (which is a very high bar, mind you), they tried to exterminate us, they burned our cities and took our legacy from us, etc., etc., etc. and we're the bad guys for fighting as hard as we could? Not only are these instances you give different from the characters Mithrax blames, such as Saint-14 of all people, who only ever acted in defense of humanity, but they are, curiously, committed largely against humans and other species. Not the Fallen houses. I'm not going to sit here and defend warlords like Citan, but throwing characters like Saint-14, Saladin Forge, Zavala, Cayde-6, Ikora Rey and us, the Guardian, in with them is just as absurd as saying that innocent little Eido is responsible for what Namrask and Mithrax have done. Even if we, through some form of insanity, equate them, the Fallen are largely the ones who created the circumstances that drove humanity to such barbarism in the first place when they, without provocation, ordered their troops to burn humanity and all we have achieved to the ground. Even the House of Light agrees that the Fallen were the instigators, and we know that they have done far worse to us than even our most evil members have done to them. They. Are. Not. The. Victims. Of. The. Dark. Age. Savathun is also an interesting example given that she was the one to start the Long Night, to psychically manipulate our leaders into infighting, and to let the Vex into our City, killing Lord knows how many people. Which ignores all the Guardians she's killed, what she did to Osiris, what her Hive has done to us and countless others, etc., etc., etc. She deserves what she's gotten. She is not a good person just because she was given the Light. She is still evil. Everything you've given here is a false equivalent. Characters like Saint-14 should not be vilified for doing the right thing and fighting back against what at the time was an embodiment of evil. Which the Houses were, and there's very little middle ground to be had there. They came to this system, they murdered our children and our elderly, our crippled, our tired huddled masses, all for sport, for food, to punish the crime of being chosen by an uncaring god that we didn't ask for, and they did it because they hated us. Not because we attacked them, not because we were stealing their resources (as if we had any strength to stand, let alone fight), or even because of some insult. They attacked us because we were what they wanted to be. The next in line. And when we defended ourselves, when we struck back against the night, when we showed them even a small taste of the fury with which they tore the souls from our young and ate their flesh... somehow *we* are in the wrong? Saint-14 didn't even target their civilians (not that the Fallen Kells allowed much distinction between who was a warrior and who wasn't), he stuck out against the same monsters that howled at our walls with the goal of genocide. He broke their leadership, destroyed their infrastructure so they could do no more harm, declared victory... and left to deal with the next problem. And somehow it's ok to call him a monster.... because it is so evil to fight for what you love... Again, the writing in this season was absurd, and it should never have been done this way. It's preachy, it's ignorant of the context in the lore, and it's a character assassination on two wonderfully written characters that didn't deserve it.
There was so much development in the background in the lore tabs and lore books that could have easily been slipped into the main plot if Bungie management had basic coordination between its departments...
