I made this today and I’m not lying when I say that it’s tastes exactly like takeout but better! I didn’t have cornstarch or sesame oil but it still came out amazing. I used white vinegar as she suggested in her recipe when making the sauce. My older sister decided to make some egg fried rice and this was honestly delicious with the chicken. I’m more of a baker so cooking is my week spot. I’m 15 and I wanted to try to cook something other than noodles or rely on my mum and this was super helpful. Very simple and easy. Will definitely be my go to recipe. To anyone reading this that is contemplating if you should make this I definitely think you should! Best thing I’ve eaten all quarantine 🙂🌟
Just finished devouring this. WOW! It ticked all the boxes. The whole dish was simply fantastic and unimprovable! Well done that person! It had endlessly sustaining depths of flavour. The sauce dribbled down on to my white Tshirt. I do not regret losing a bit of laundry to a dish like this. Happy Days!
My mom asks me to make this (with fried rice) every year for her birthday hahaha. I just make a slight change: I omit the sugar completely. I made it once with the sugar it was extremely sweet for my taste. Without it it's still super sweet and good though! Thanks for the video too!!
This is an absolutely amazing dish. I made this for dinner tonight and it was a massive hit in the house. We bulked our recipe out with a cup of peas and edamame and it made enough to have leftovers the next day.

I've just made this and it is quite delicious. It is not difficult to make as the instructions are clear and easy to follow. I made this as a trial for my husband and I, but I will definitely make it again for dinner guests as part of a Chinese evening 😋
I just cooked this tonight as oddly I had all the ingredients in and have not had a Chinese “takeaway” for nearly a year. It was fantastic, I really haven’t tasted better in a restaurant and this was all my own work (with your simple clear instructions)! The only suggestion I would make is do the chicken coating in advance and keep it in the fridge. It does get messy as your tongs followed by your fingers start to clag up 🤣
Made it this evening, very nice and will definitely make it again, I even got a Bakeoff-style handshake. I've added it to my saved recipes with notes to cut the chicken into larger chunks (mine were too small and fiddly) and to halve the amount of brown sugar as I found it slightly too sweet.

This is my second time making this fantastic dish. I omitted the chili sauce( not into anything too spicy, except a mild curry) I used light soya sauce and doubled the sauce. I even wondered about making a large jar of sauce for the freezer while I have all the ingredients on hand. I am making it tonight with a side stir fry of vegetables and rice. Thanks my family love it.
Made the Spicy Shredded Chicken recipe and loved it. Also made the egg fried rice to go with it and again better than a takeaway. Attempting this at the weekend and I just know it’s gonna taste amazing. I wouldn’t class myself as an amateur cook, far from it, gone from beans on toast to cooking amazing food. Probably a daft question but as a general rule, where you say a recipe serves 4 is it a case of just halving all the ingredients for 2 people - or is that too simplistic? I know it's obvious with the main ingredient (eg. chicken breast) but what about all the other ingredients that go towards the final dish?

It's great that this recipe can be make by shallow frying instead of deep frying, using much less oil than deep frying.
