Yeah they are my favorite. I don’t get a lot of life out of them. But I still just love them. Favorite On-Road and Off. are you running the trailmax raid’s or Mission? I just put a set of the Raids on. They are quieter and looser in the corners or side to side. Take off and stopping is about the same so far.
@@AdventureGlide I am running the Missions, and they are a great tire (i hear the raids are much better off road obv). The missions get the most milage of any tire i have ever ran, few k more than the k60's, between you and me, if the conditions are right, ill do 100mph+ all day long on pavement, and they are OK in the dirt, and they have them on the bikes up at Rawhyde where i have done some training in CO, but there are times you can just feel why they aren't gripping in the dirt; the round profile. That loss of grip can be frustrating at times especially on steep/loose hills, and sandy conditions.
@@OneTakeSunday Yeah these TrailMax Raid's so far I'm really liking. They are as loud as the Anakee Wilds on the road. The front end feels looser on pavement and gravel roads. I haven't had any issue with pushing or sliding out. Just seems easier when sitting at a stop to turn the handlebars. Best way I can describe it. LOL. I took a forest service road up into a canyon that was mostly Nevada type dirt kinda dusty and a little rocky. The TrailMax Raid's did great. I hit some mud on old dirt road with them and they seemed pretty squirrelly so I was cautious. But it was some slippery mud. I think the Awake would have done better but I don't think I would have been ripping through it that's for sure. I plan on making a review video on the Raid's I just haven't got the chance to push them in corners or really light them up off road the way I like to. They seem predictable. And they definitely have lots of forward traction off road. But something I didn't love about the K60 Rangers is when you power slide around corners it just didn't seem the same every time. Other than that I had no issue with them and they are WWWAAAYYY! Cheaper than the Anakee Wilds and last longer. They also had a tipping point in corners where they just got gooey. It was like the knobs were rolling over or something. But it was way down there. The Anakee's the no go zine seems to be when me feet drag the ground. Things are just warming up here in Northern Nevada now. So I should be able to get out and really ride the Raid's the way I would like to.
@@AdventureGlide The Raids sound like a pretty great tire, and $$ / miles is unfortunately almost always a concern with this rider (I assume most as well!). That would be awesome if you have time to throw up a video review, and appreciate the review here thus far with them!
What was it about the front tires that you thought were awesome? I ride a lot on wet pavement in Washington State. Trying to find someone that has experience with running Anakee Wilds in front and Anakee Adventure in the rear. Any Thoughts on this?
I had to go back and re watch the video I think I just said I love the front tire. The Anakee Wilds are hands downs my favorite tire. I have only been through a couple rears of the Anakee Adventures. I would say they are almost identical in performance on road but with more confidence in dirty corners. With the compromise of longevity. On the GSA I get about 2500 to 3000 miles on a rear and 6000 on a front. I have never had the Anakee Wilds surprise me on the pavement. They are noisy compared to an Adventure if you running those now. The knobby front will wonder a little in grooved pavement when new but not bad. I’ve never mismatched tires before so I can’t say for sure but I would think they would perform well together. I don’t think you will find a better tire for wet conditions on the road.
Another combo I’m thinking about testing out this summer might be the TKC 80 front and the TKC Rocks rear. I can only assume this would be the next best thing to what your thinking. And still a little more aggressive in the rear.
@@AdventureGlide Thanks. Great description. Apologies, I did not mean to put words in your mouth. I am just upgrading my tires from Anakee III to Adventure. I saw a vid where the Adventure fronts would bounce around on loose sand. I am only planning to hit packed beach sand where vehicles are allowed to drive. A little loose but not too deep, perhaps the Adventures will suffice...Only one way to know for sure. I am still considering the mix Wild Up front and Adventure in the rear. My biggest concern is how the Wilds up front handles on pavement with loose gravel / wet paint.
@@rrd9434 Yeah, you will like either option compared to the Anakee 3's. I have run a set of the Anakee 3's in the past; I would put it towards the bottom of the list. You should not fear the Anakee Wilds slipping on any kind of pavement, wet or dry. The Anakee Adventure tire will seem nicer and less darty casually riding down dirt or gravel roads. The Anakee Wild will dart in more directions as they grab the chunks of gravel with the lugs. But it will be better if you plan on riding more aggressively. Or you end up in slippery mud where the front end might want to wash out. In the sand, you won't notice a difference between the wild and the adventure upfront unless you dynamite the brakes. Now Anakee wild in the rear will be an incredible improvement in the sand over the adventure. They're both great tires you will likely run into a situation where you wish you had the other. Thanks for checking out the Video and asking Questions.
Thanks for the GREAT review! I have a GSA 1250 on order and was going to go with the ever popular TKC80, but not sure if they make them anymore? These look like a real MX knobby so should work great off-road.
@@AdventureGlide I was wondering if ''Anakee'' meant something in German, but when I translated it, it came up as Hawaiian for the word ''ONLY''. Just bought the last pair they had at the dealership. So, ONLY WILD'S! 😜
Unfortunately the Pan America Special didn't last long enough to make it through a two rears and one front. I had just replaced the rear tire when the engine blew and started having all kinds of electrical issues. I was running the Michelin Adventure Tires on the Pan America and I can say they were great. I seen another comment about the Trail Max Raid tires and I think I will just skip the review on them. I really don't have anything good to say other than the rear time seems to be fine. It doesn't seem to last any longer than the Anakee Wild but doesn't break loose and light up for power sliding as consistently in my opinion. I think the Trail Max Raid Front tire is TERRIBLE!!!!! for High Desert Terrain. If I was going to save money on tires I would run the Heidenau K60 Ranger. I was getting about 5000 miles out of rear tire vs 2500 I usually get out of rear Anakee. They are a harder rubber. The Front Heidenau K60 Ranger is almost I identical to Anakee Wild but seems to be slightly shorter knobs. The Heidenau K60 Rangers do seem to have a strange spot in them when cornering hard on asphalt that you can feel it going past the little support bridge if that makes sense. It feel like once you get down that far on the Ranger it gets a little squirly and squishy. Other than that the Heidenau K60 Ranger seems to be a great cheaper option to the Anakee Wild but I went back to the Anakee Wild in the winter time here in Northen Nevada just because I figured the Anakee Wild would fair better in the extremely cold temps we get. Hopefully that helps you make a more informed decision. Not send you down another rabbit hole. Oh yeah the Heidenau K60 front tire you get a little vibration or rumble at low speed in the handle bars and the noise is a little different that the Anakee's I wouldn't say louder. The Trail Max Raid tire seems to be completely silent and smooth as you would expect from any great street tire as in my opinion that is what it is. I think the Trail Max might do better in more consistent sandy conditions than it does in loose to hard or rocky side hilly type stuff. If you get the opportunity to sit on a bike with both sets of tire on them it's noticeably different just turning the handle bars back and forth on asphalt between the two tire. as with the Trail Max there is almost no resistance and Anakee's its almost impossible to just turn the handle bars end to end without moving the bike forward and back.
I totally agree. Glad you’re enjoying them. There just isn’t any comparison. I keep trying others hoping for a little more mileage but nothing does it like the Anakee Wilds do. Thanks for checking it out and commenting. Ride safe and have fun Bro!! 😎
I have these on my KTM 1290 SAR. They are great on the dirt and gravel, but I'm not liking them on the street. I plan to go back to the Dunlop trailmax mission tires that I had on my GS. The trailmax tires are the cat's ass 🐈
I've heard these tires walk around a lot on the KLR60's I don't know if that would be the same on the DR650. Thanks for checking it out. Sorry for the late response. Not sure how this ended up in the Held for Review folder.
@@AdventureGlide Thanks! I'm just looking for data points at this time. The stock "Death Wings" that come on the DR wander big time at freeway speeds and the front doesn't perform well in loose dirt. I need to get something better for sure.
I have a set on a DR...on dry road great, on dry off-road great, wet pavement use discretion, in mud I hate on them every time I get in mud, especially if it's wet clay but at the end of the day they will get you there including up some stuff that will make you respect them a lot more when it's time to come back down!
For the K60s I was running this summer, I got about 4 to 5k out of the rear and double that for the front. But I don’t think they would be as good for cold roads with little bits of ice and snow. They are the stiffest tires, I have ever mounted on a bike.
