    I had a 07 CBR 1000rr for years and when it was stolen I picked up a 2012 R6 because I had always wanted one. It's fun being able to actually open a bike up on public roads and not be doing 150mph. Granted the R6 is not a slow bike by any means. But you can open it up far more often than a 1000cc bike. I felt like I had to baby the CBR around so I wasn't doing triple digit speeds everywhere.

    Fun Fact: A clutch that engages far out is a clutch that doesn't need to be pulled as far to shift. That means faster shifting.

    SO nice you showed the instrument board, starting up, in a nice clear picture. They almost all forget that part.

    R6 and the 675r are hands down the best looking bikes, for me anyway. Panigale is amazing in the looks department but its also in another universe when it comes to price.

    IMO The r6 looks better than the current R1.

    Cool video man, however I gotta say that features that you listed about the 2016 model are the same as the previous years, going all the way back to the 2008 model. The 2016 bike you rode is mechanically identical to the 2008+ R6s with only minor modifications made to the ECU over the years. Thinking that the 2016 model you test rode felt way better than the previous ones you have ridden was merely a placebo effect, or the bikes you rode previously had mechanical issues or were poorly set up in terms of suspension, tires, tire pressure, etc. Hopefully we can expect to see a totally redefined R6 for 2017, which we technically have to, since all bikes sold in Europe starting in 2017 have to be equipped with ABS which currently the R6 does not have.

      you know there's only one way to make a motorcycle right lol. power, plus suspension.
      it's not like cars that need to add apps, airbags, crash tests. bikes just have to pass sound and emissions. but luckily we don't have annual smog inspections or stuff like that for bikes, so once you get it, it can be anything you want. there's not much differences in suspensions other than the electronic stuff. it's just a spring and shock with rebound/damping, etc

    honestly I think yamaha are above everyone when it comes to sleek design for their bikes. look at the mt-09 and the finish and color matching on even the bolts on that and engine.

    Rev limit has always been 16k ish. I bought a new one in 08 and had it 2 years and the 2016 is the same bike in reality. I fear the 600 class is dying out which is sad. It costs the manufacturers pretty much the same to develop a new 600 as it does to develop a 1000 but they have to sell them for less. With the new 1000cc hyper bikes i think it is a good time to resurrect the 750cc class in full. And I would love a Kawasaki ZX7R with about 145hp at the rear wheel.

    the '16 R6, the '15 Ninja 636, '09 CBR 600RR (in red and black livery) are the best looking Super Sports for me, gotta get me a job during university and save up for my full license to get an R6 when i turn 20.. just a year to go on this 125 till my restriction is up

  • @kbent88

    When I had my R6, people would stop me all the time and tell me that my headlight was out. It was cool that people cared, but got a little annoying.

    • @tylerrue3108
      @tylerrue3108 8 років тому +1

      +kbent88 That's why a lot of people run their brights all the time, and with the trend toward putting HID bulbs in, I hate that. It's too bright at night. On my '03, people would pull over because I think they thought I was a cop due to the bluish hue to the lights and they way they kind of danced at night.

    The biggest bike ever road is a Yamaha TTR-125. After 25 minutes ago. A friends Yamaha R6. And all I can say is woo babyy! Blurry and Powerful. with a good adrenaline rush and some quite shaky hands afterwards. Fun as hell. Not quite for me but I defiantly respect the race bike community. Stay safe out there!

    On March 25, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued a recall notice for six 2015 Yamaha models that may have been manufactured with a shift cam segment stopper than can crack and cause shifting difficulties that may lead to a crash Certain 2015 FJ-09, FZ-09, FZ6R, Super Tenere, Super Tenere ES and R6 Yamaha models are being recalled for a potential gearbox issue.

    r6's are the sexiest bikes ever I honestly hope they never change the front of the bike and ruin it like they did the 15+ r1 and to clarify for people that don't know the r6 doesn't have much for gauges it tells you mph rpm empty gas tank, thermometer blinkers, high beam, neutral light and that's about it

  • @seinfeld11123
    @seinfeld11123 9 років тому

    my R3 has same problem with the clutch. and also the engine braking is quite excessive on R3 and R6. so when you are off throttle to shift. the bike has a lot of engine braking, and pickup so its a bit jerly. Im getting used to it
    suspension wise. the R3 and the R6 are much more damped. and not as high on the spring rate. this makes them really grippy, and forgiving.
    where as the older R6's were quite stiff in the spring rate. and
    now the Ninja have gone the stiff route. the ninja 300 and the 600 both were too stiff for me when I tested them.
    you are spot on with your impression. as its my feeling as well

    Camera tip for you or whoever does the camera work/editing. Those fade-in shots can work, but you guys are doing the transition WAY too slow.
    When it's this slow, it actually strains the viewers eyes and it will actually hurt because the viewer's eyes are trying to get the bike in view, and the screen is trying to focus on the bike at a different rate. If you're gonna do a fade-in shot (Which this beginning is FULL of) please speed up the transitions. A lot. You're hurting us. Haha.
    Thanks!

    • @MJT-DA
      @MJT-DA 8 років тому

      Dude you don't have to do that anymore. The new engine cylinder heads are head treated so they shape with the cylinder block properly. The hard break in is what i see alot of people do today and it works, even riding it normal. When you don't let the bike or car rev high it's going to build carbon on the top of the head which is worse for the bike.

    The gauges suck still, so basic. They need to add outside temp, gear indicator an actual fuel gauge and steering damper. I wonder if this R6 has a quick shifter, power modes and traction control. I think the Ninja ZX-6R is the best 600 out there as we speak more comfortable, much better power distribution and now you can even add a steering damper as an option.

    You should try that camera stabilization rig that RJ reviewed the other day. Might smooth out your panning. They're pretty cheap from China (Banggood has it).
    I noticed a lot of new bikes have clutch engagements that are way out like that. I have no idea what has precipitated this trend (something in racing?).
    Wide seat lets you hang off more because you can slide your ass way to the side?

      +☣droid☣ I honestly have no Idea why Yamaha designs the R6 with such a wide seat. Its really uncomfortable compared to other bikes, as well as makes it harder for shorter people to reach the ground because they cant put their legs down far enough. And yeah, Im looking into a camera slider anyway. Just dont have the money yet. All of my money is going towards bills and fixing my R1

    i thought new cars/bikes requires Break-in period?, that requires you to limit the speed at a certain km of travel (first 1000km for example)

      yep for dirtbikes buddy that is true, but for cars and roadbikes over a certain cc I think it's already run in when you buy it.

      @Benjay1975 8 років тому

      yes, but the Triumph 675 doesn't have a crossplane engine. I wouldnt be suprised if the the next R6 was a triple, just to compete with the 675(r)

      +Benjay1975 Oh wow, I did not know that lol. But I thought the cross plane engine works better with an inline 4 or 2 the cross plane engine reduces the vibrations and uses the crank shaft for power as well. I'm I wrong?

      You should go and sit on one. It's a talk bike but I've seen people around your height even ride liter bikes. Depends on your comfort and if you actually wanna sit and struggle to touch or touch one foot.

  • @alphabama

    how is the seating position for a 6'2? any complains?does the bike feel tiny? i dont wanna be riding a small bike looking huge lol

    • @AnonDrewT
      @AnonDrewT 8 років тому +1

      6'1", sat on one in the dealership. I felt absolutely in heaven on it. As a matter of fact, I'm currently saving up to purchase it with every paycheck I get! I'd recommend going to your local dealership and just sit on it for a while, and see if you start getting pains from the seating position, because everyone's body is different! ChaseOnTwoWheels is roughly the same height as us, I believe, and he rides his R6 on the daily!

    • @alphabama

    It revs up as high as all the other models from 2006 to 2016 they all red line at 16.000 rpm i dont know what are you on about , the old model the 2005 one red lined at 14,000 rpm, i have never seen an r6 that revs up to 18,000.

      When the 06 R6 was released they were featuring the 17.5 redline, so the gauges actually had the redline at 17.5, when in fact it wasn't accurate so the 07+ all had the corrected 16.5 redline. I had a 06 R6...and 09.
