My first bike was a 2010 R6. A beautiful white and red model. Moved on to a 2016 BMW S1000RR and to be more than brutally honest, the R6 was so much more fun. Better in every way, bought another 2010 R6 last month - perfectly kept black and gold model with only 12.000km on the clock, all original! Giving it some love and care now, a complete full service so it lasts forever. Much love to the most wonderful bike I've ever set eyes on!
I always wanted a 2008-2009 R6 in yamaha blue with the gold wheels Still looks modern and beautiful, aggressive but not pointy like an H2 And the proportions just work very well There is a reason why bodybuilders from the 70s/80s still look good. They got their proportions right Edit: 69 likes. Nice
I still have my 2007 R6. Bought it new. Sitting at 40k miles now. Full titanium Graves exhaust, 1 tooth down on front sprocket and 2 teeth up on the rear sprocket, and a power commander. Matching blue tinted tail light and HID headlights. Nasty bike.
This was, is and will remain my dream bike. I'm gunning for it to be my next bike. Maybe after 2 years or 4-5-7-10 years. I really wish I get my grubby hands on it in India.
Picked up my 03 R6 in 2006. I was not expecting that engine. I liked the look, fanboy of the Yam Rossi GP world, and was returning to riding after a break in 1988 (GS750). Back in the day the Kantana was my dream. Fastforward by luck found my R6. Joined a racing school to learn track skills. I learned every ride, something new, lean, knee dragging. Boy it loved to rev, that powerband, like a jet, so much top end in every gear.

Had one. Midnight black 2009 Rj15. Its not just a motorcycle. Its a poetry on wheels. Every 1k rpm that you cross brings a brighter, bigger smile on your face. Its an addiction. When i was riding this bike i had one goal.. test all roads for 200 km/h+. Every. Road. Miss my lady very much.. Sadly the european CO2 law is trash and killed the road 600cc. Nothing compares to the magnificent i4 sound hitting the 15k rpm. Love your video and will save it as a tribute for this incredible piece of art.
I’ll never forget my Mum driving me back from my girlfriends house in summer when I was 17 and us getting absolutely gapped by a yellow R6. The rider was looking off and leaning into the sunset. I’ve wanted a bike ever since and I’ll be getting my first this year.
last year I sold my 2007 R6, it had a full aftermarket exhaust system and power commander, and revved out to around 16500rpm! I remember when I first purchased it and didn't even realise it had a shift light until 2 weeks of ownership, as soon as you hit 10k rpm they really start pulling, ill never forget that feeling, absolutely amazing bikes, perfectly engineered. the other thing ill never forget is how uncomfortable they are, 3 or 4 hour ride will mess you up for a couple of days.
You nailed the script from the beginning to the end. The legend, two characters, R6. I own one after dreaming owning one for almost 10 years, mine it's a 2013 R6, the one in Pearl White gold and black color scheme. Even today, after 10 years it left Iwata's factory in Japan people can't believe how it looks, the design it's outstanding, the engine sounds amazing, it is by far, the best looking 600 ever made.Yamaha. As the motorcycle scene changes, and all i see on instagram is biker thirst traps for booktok girls, Yammie has stayed true to his old ways and continues to do so, and I truly appreciate his loyalty to true bike content, especially helping new riders navigate this confusing world
I helped my brother set an 08 r6 up for club racing years ago. He ended up low siding it at the track at the end of the season and immediately bought another one lol.
In '08 I bought A 2007 R6 in gun metal grey for my first bike. I definitely should have started on a smaller bike but I had to keep up with the homies. Man, I loved her!
Last year I bought this exact bike, 2008 R6 with the leo vince titanium full system, quickshift & blipper and ECU race updated. it. is. just. nuts! This video brings a tear to my eye!
had an 89 honda hurricane that i learned to ride on, sold it and worked my way up to an 05 R6, i rode that bike for 6 years before i felt like it wasnt enough bike. Even now (riding a zx10r) i miss the R6, it didnt have the speed of the zx but it just felt special. I got compliments all the time, people thought it was beautiful. Blue plastics with a blacked out windscreen, LED flush mount tail light kit with the plate delete. man..... that bike was so sick.
I didn't choose the squid life, but it sure as fuck chose me 😤 I've always been in love with the wasp eye styling of the mid 2k's R6 and would easily choose it over any other super sport on the market. Completed my MSF in November of '21 and never thought I'd find my way onto a bike again due to finances, but always had my heart set on the R6 as an "eventually" bike. Luckily for me I found a 2007 on Craigslist late last December and against better judgement I moved forward with Baby's First Bike™ being a fuckin' R6 lmao. Having less than a single hour of seat time on it currently, and not having ridden for over a year since my MSF prior, I'm still taking it slow and riding the neighborhood when daylight is available and weather permitting(goddamn winter needs to end already). If anything I blame Yammie for validating my love for this incredible machine; even in the videos he's dogging on 'em being horrible street bikes all I hear is praise for it's design 😂
Got my 2008 R6 a year and a half ago as my first bike. Absolutely best decision I ever made other than my wife and kid. Lol. My R6 will always be my baby though. It’s taught me a lot about riding. Below 10k rpm’s it’s super tame. After a few months of riding did the +2 -1 and 420 sprockets and chain, lowered it, and am finally about to cut the cats off and get a PC. I would recommend this bike a million times over. It’s super fun, lightweight, manageable torque curve, and hauls the mail when you want to crack the throttle.
You made me fall back in love with my 06 R6 Raven. Has a “Yamatick” if that’s even a thing. Fairings are getting old being 17. My newish rider buddies are going from their Ninja 250R’s to 08 ZX6R’s and MT07 friends to Trident 660’s so I wanted to hop on the new bike bandwagon. I notice the liter bike bro’s locally jump from bike to bike every season besides teasing us “for not being a real man” but my past 04 R1 or anything doesn’t compare to this bike and after 4 years of riding it, it’s still fun like it was day 1. Thank you Mr. YamJam 🍠👑🙏
Funny thing is the 08 r6 was the bike that got me into bikes 16,500 redline seemed godlike as someone who obsessed over the GT3 due only to the 9k rpm redline. I would watch a ton of short videos on Instagram and UA-cam on the bike with aftermarket exhausts and dyno videos. I started on a grom road it for a ab 8 months upgraded to the r6 and still 3 months later I still look back and fall back in love with the looks the sound and the style
Soft spot for yammys!...this was my neighbours bike bless him not with us anymore...i just had to hear one again so came in here LOL....ive heard a lot of bikes over the years but i used to LOVE hearing him start this bike!
I’ve had four of them not necessarily all by my choice unfortunately two stolen and one broken down but it still salvaged as many parts as I could they are epic machine absolutely love the R6
I had one of these 08 R6’s 3 years ago and traded in for an 09 R1 and the R1 was cool for 6 months but I’ve found it pretty useless for the street as in its way too high geared just riding around town in 1st using the clutch all the time and on the open road more scared of getting caught at way more speed than the R6. The only thing the R6 sucked at was having someone on the back with the lack of torque but the R1 is cool and sounds amazing but owning a superbike isn’t as good as what it should be
The old R6 design is such a beauty and my dream bike. Only reason i won't buy it is, because it cost as much as the MSRP from a decade ago, while i can buy a 2024 zx6r brand new for the same price. One day.. I'll buy the R6 just to have it as a piece of art.
I’ve got to say I’m probably one of the luckiest if not the luckiest guy in America when it came down to finding my 2018 r 6 when I wasn’t even looking to buy a motorcycle but with 800 miles and only $8500 I had to buy it and boy am I so glad that I did this may sound corny but honestly I didn’t start living until I started riding straight up this bike has helped me thru some dark times of depression I’m a firm believer in “what’s for you if for you” and I know that God intended for it to be mine. With the 3 stages of riding modes this bike has gradually improved my squid skills. I’ve put close to 10k miles on it in a little over a year this bike has become part of who I am. God bless America
My first bike was a raven . Raced it, had a blast. Then sold it to buy a house. Would love to get another one but they are so pricey. I do love that 17,000 rpm scream 😈
I raced an 06 R6 in CCS and WERA back in the day. When the 2008 came out with the more low end torque, I wanted one, but I realized I wasn't even close to a good enough rider to be pushing the limits of my current '06.
I had the Liquid Silver 2008 YZF-R6 for my first motorcycle.. I never rode a motorcycle before that. 2 years and never dropped it. I regret selling it.
I grew up in the same time frame, and was ready to sell my soul for an R6 when I was in high school. Watching Rossi dominate on Yamaha just made it worse. I didn't get my first superbike until I was in my 30s, and it was a GSXR. The R6 is still the bike I always wish I could've had.
Early 2000's first fuel injected bikes to early 2010’s before too many electronic assistant modes were incorporated into bikes…. Is the sweet spot! Like a natural raw feeling, without OG sluggish carbs (if even cleaned properly) and without a video game style “automatic health regen” (electronic riding aids) from newer 600’s seem watered down and have less HP. It’s like the muscle car era where they had “too much powah” and then got their balls chopped off in proceeding models 😅 I’m your age, thus young when it was happening but admired the bikes of that day, now cherishing and enjoying their worth while singing their praises
the 3rd gen R6 is the best looking motorcycle, especially for the time period. The styling was way ahead of it's time and looks good even today. I had the choice between a 2020 R6 and a 2012, and I went for the 2012 and a big part was I just love the look of it. The sharp tail, the aggressive wasp head. It looks timeless!
The 636 kawaski is awsome better than the r6 in meny ways had one so i know what your saying ,67,000 miles with all the proper servising thay are fucked nise track bike dont use it for work its just a fun bike
There is an extremely cheap Supersport motorcycle, special designed for truck use and it's extremely cheap today. Aprilia RSV Mille 1998 - 2003 , why you don't make a video like this ? Greetings from Germany mate
Had the 06/07 for track, the ergos would suck on the street. Sore back and wrists for sure. Let's not forget they fudged the tachometer to make it read higher
A truly beautiful bike. I have a 2012 50th anniversary edition GP R6 number 1259 of 1500. Yes, a long ass title. One of the last former gen R6s to be made with its lightest, most powerful raven engine with arguably one of the sexiest liverys to ever come out of yamaha and I will fight you on that. I love it so much I literally paid it off and had my signature laser inscription into my frame to show my will to keep it for as long as I'm alive
I bought a first generation R6 to replace my Honda F3, both 600 cc inline fours but that Yamaha was so much better. It was like riding on a rail and if you were deep into the throttle you had to keep your weight over the front wheel because it would come off the ground right around 12,000rpms and thousand happened without manipulating the clutch. What a bike she was
Hold on there granny scroob 2008 and 2009 had that cinderella GSXR600/750 body style with the 3 piece cyclops/alien/waifu headlight and the blue/white pearl paint and the last gas with the molten metallic/pearl orange paint they did for a while! a real ripper of a bike in both flavors that even today will have you doing the double take when you hop off. and while I'm a 40 year old man who got into bikes at 25.... when these models were on the showroom. I can say I learned on a suzuki, and went with the VFR the rest of my biking days. so I'm a weirdo to begin with it's whatever. previous point seriously stands though. We can't begin to forget the underseat exhaust CBR600RR either. that's a stunning bike when you turn the pages back. Japan really had it figured out 2000 years ago.
@@DeadlyRealityTV nah, the left mirror was missing, turn signals didn’t work, cracked headlight lenses, headlight was out, broken license plate bracket, the bikes battery died on me at a gas station while I was looking it over again, so nah I didn’t buy it. Ended up finding a built 2007 gsxr 600 for $3k, the dude had no knowledge on bikes and sold it for drug money, dyno tuned for 83, quick shifter, launch control, stva eliminator, very well taken care of, only downside was the 38k miles, but I’m taking care of it and it’s got no issues
@@v1z3 nice one bro 💪, one question, is that a lot of miles for bike? What’s considered a lot? I’m looking to buy my first bike and I don’t know what’s a good deal or not yet
@@DeadlyRealityTV personally 38k is a lot for a sport bike. Generally for your first bike I’d personally stay between the 10-20k range for mileage. Once you get the hang of things it’s really up to you on what you want, if you wanna save up and get something newer (below 5k miles) or maybe you want something that you can work on and restore (20k+ miles) My first bike was at 11k miles, I sold it at 15k, my second bike was a fix-me-up bike, 29k miles (2000 zx7r), this new bike I was iffy on the miles cuz I’ll maybe get 20-30k out of the motor hopefully longer if I take care of it. Oh and take the msf course to get a feel for what you want in a bike, my msf course had groms and cruiser styled bikes that way everyone could get a feel for what they personally wanted.
Been dreaming of having this bike since i started riding 6 years ago. But live in a winterland half of the year so dont make much to have this bike. Sold my previous bike last year. Next bike prob in 4-5 years… i hate winter land sometimes man
I've been racing 600s since 2001. 1st was K1 Gixxer. Dynoed at 100 RWHP. Was king at the time, but comparatively to later bikes it was a bus. Next an 04 R6 in 2008 Definitely a step up. Then an 08 R6 in 2010. This was an even bigger step up than the 04 was to the K1. Best handling bike I've ever ridden. RWHP of 128!!. Rode that for 10 years ... now a 17 R6. 17 is basically same as 08 just different forks and triple clamps (R1) plus some electronic features (which I have on the 08 as aftermarket add ons anyway). Ridden plenty of other race bikes (ZX10 widowmaker down to Ninja 250). The R6 is without doubt the best handling bike ever.

The only thing the R6 sucked at was having someone on the back with the lack of torque but the R1 is cool and sounds amazing but owning a superbike isn’t as good as what it should be
Yamaha R6 is my dream ... It just keeps looking awesome 😎
@yammie Noob loved the video edit felt diferent from the previous. ones keep the good work! (youre a big influence you made me buy a svart 401)
The old R6 design is such a beauty and my dream bike. Only reason i won't buy it is, because it cost as much as the MSRP from a decade ago, while i can buy a 2024 zx6r brand new for the same price. One day.. I'll buy the R6 just to have it as a piece of art.
The most beautiful sportspike ever made imo .... This is peak peak ..motorcycle design
My dream bike, hope to own it some day.
Well we're giving this one away!
buying one next month to replace my MT-07
I'm still riding an '02 R6 wit a carburetor on it! 43 years young and still ride it. Be safe yall!
I own a 2006 R6, just watching this to fall in love all over again.
My first bike was a raven . Raced it, had a blast. Then sold it to buy a house. Would love to get another one but they are so pricey. I do love that 17,000 rpm scream 😈
Mate I did a direct access course in 2003 when I was 23 and bought the R6 as my first bike. Suffice to say: 🤯 🤯
I raced an 06 R6 in CCS and WERA back in the day. When the 2008 came out with the more low end torque, I wanted one, but I realized I wasn't even close to a good enough rider to be pushing the limits of my current '06.
Well finally a video if urs that I can relate and agree to. Well done.
The R6 has been my favorite bike for over 20 years.
I love my 2009 so much 😩 24k miles still putting in work
Awesome channel awesome content, I got an 2006 R6 and I LOVE IT !!! :)
i Love my R6 so bad i started on it and i dont regret anything.
he really likes that bike, so do I. white and red looks insanely fast.
This gen of r6 will always be my dream bike
Yamm you are making me feel really old... my generation the 750's were the apple in every young man's eye
Enjoying this video format good job Yammie
I had the Liquid Silver 2008 YZF-R6 for my first motorcycle.. I never rode a motorcycle before that. 2 years and never dropped it. I regret selling it.
I grew up in the same time frame, and was ready to sell my soul for an R6 when I was in high school. Watching Rossi dominate on Yamaha just made it worse. I didn't get my first superbike until I was in my 30s, and it was a GSXR. The R6 is still the bike I always wish I could've had.
I just bought a white 2014 R6 today 🎉
Had the yellow black flames new. It is the best bike ever made.
It’s like the muscle car era where they had “too much powah” and then got their balls chopped off in proceeding models 😅
I’m your age, thus young when it was happening but admired the bikes of that day, now cherishing and enjoying their worth while singing their praises
You did an excellent job at creating this video! Looking to make the R6 my first bike.
the 3rd gen R6 is the best looking motorcycle, especially for the time period. The styling was way ahead of it's time and looks good even today. I had the choice between a 2020 R6 and a 2012, and I went for the 2012 and a big part was I just love the look of it. The sharp tail, the aggressive wasp head. It looks timeless!
08’ R6 vs K8 GSXR600.
Keen to here pros/cons and how they would go h2h across things like build quality, reliability, handling, power etc
I have a 2008 R6 dark grey metallic graphite colour with black rims with red stickers 😍😍😍
2004 Welkom Arena still feels like it was yesterday, crazy how fast time fly
R6s are the best sounding bikes not only of 600cc’s but also liter bikes
look how old is this bike and it still looks better then 90% of the bikes that came out in 2022-23
Is that a inch wide dent in the rear wheel?
Kawasaki 636 has the best inline 4 sounds but this is 🐐🐐🐐
The 636 kawaski is awsome better than the r6 in meny ways had one so i know what your saying ,67,000 miles with all the proper servising thay are fucked nise track bike dont use it for work its just a fun bike
Well … after watching your vid I no longer want to sell my one-owner 2010 copy. Lol. Thanks for reminding me of the passion that these bikes are.
There is an extremely cheap Supersport motorcycle, special designed for truck use and it's extremely cheap today. Aprilia RSV Mille 1998 - 2003 , why you don't make a video like this ? Greetings from Germany mate
Watching this before work… now i’m taking the r6 to work lol
there's not many of anything that still look this good at 20 years old
Had the 06/07 for track, the ergos would suck on the street.
The r6 is my favorite looking bike of all time. And i say that happily being a Suzuki guy.
i drive my 2002 r6 every day even when it snows and every day I enjoy it
03-04 zx6r was my favorite years hands down sport bike ever made
I bought a first generation R6 to replace my Honda F3, both 600 cc inline fours but that Yamaha was so much better. It was like riding on a rail and if you were deep into the throttle you had to keep your weight over the front wheel because it would come off the ground right around 12,000rpms and thousand happened without manipulating the clutch. What a bike she was
Love this video thanks so much I will keep on riding mine forever ❤
The sound these things make. My god.
ive got a 2007 R6 and it is by far my favorite bike
A real motorcycle channel. 💯🦍
Yammm my first bike was a 08 R6 cadmium yellow with black Flames 🔥, I want to get one someday again
The only problem being that i live in India so he won't be sending it over...kinda sad about it but it is what it is
MOM COME LOOK YAMMIE UPLOADED
I owned this exact model for many years. Dream bike. Sad to say it had to come to an end when a thief stole it outside my apartment in Seattle.
My first bike was an 07 r6 black and gray. I never would have gotten rid of it, but holy balls that thing was fun as fuck
Hold on there granny scroob
2008 and 2009 had that cinderella GSXR600/750 body style with the 3 piece cyclops/alien/waifu headlight and the blue/white pearl paint and the last gas with the molten metallic/pearl orange paint they did for a while! a real ripper of a bike in both flavors that even today will have you doing the double take when you hop off.
and while I'm a 40 year old man who got into bikes at 25.... when these models were on the showroom.
Japan really had it figured out 2000 years ago.
just giving me more and more reasons to get this beauty as my first bike
Yamaha were so ahead of there time in the styling department
imma be buying a 2008 r6 tomorrow morning, gonna be the best damn ride i've ever ridden.. given everything goes well
You got it?
@@v1z3 thanks brother 🤜🤛 I will definitely take the msf course and find a low mile bike
I owed a 06 raven for years the stolen then I got a 08 r6 both were more than fantastic savages
