    Guy riding the old R6 wasn’t even shifting at redline during those pulls, and y’all were using the dang clutch to upshift 😭

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  3 роки тому +46

      Neither of us were quite redlining. Can’t be going over 100 out here 🤷🏻‍♂️
      So we were at least both short shifting equally. Our bikes don’t have quick shifters to go clutch less that’s why.

    • @cjzx325
      @cjzx325 3 роки тому +41

      @@BrosFOURRSpeed Quick Shifters just cut the fuel or ignition timing so you don't have to let off the throttle while shifting. You can accomplish the same thing by backing off the throttle and simultaneously upshifting. No need for the clutch. The key is to take the load off the transmission while you are shifting.
      I still recommend using the clutch on downshifts. Safe Riding Bros!

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  3 роки тому +16

      @@cjzx325 I know how it works! I’ve been on plenty of bikes that have them. These two bikes did not and we don’t feel comfortable doing that on a bike that doesn’t have that.

    • @werehogrider53167
      @werehogrider53167 3 роки тому +36

      @@BrosFOURRSpeed clutchless shifting, if done properly, is actually smoother and easier on the transmission than using the clutch. And you guys didn’t go down to Mexico to film this? I’m from Minnesota and Mexico is only a 10 minute drive away

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  3 роки тому +22

      I'll stick with using the clutch tho for fast driving. Any racing was in Mexico. Or it was actually CGI. Didn't actually happen ;)

    I've got a 06, 08 and a 17. I have always felt like my 06 was the fastest between them all. Hearing the HP numbers it makes things a lot clearer now. With that being said my 06 won't pull power wheelies out of corners like the 17 R6 does.

      I messed up this winter and forgot about putting water wetter in my 17 to take ot to the track. Here in Arkansas we hardly ever get Temps low enough to freeze anything in doors. But, the one time ai left the water wetter in cause we was so close to riding season. I cracked my block. So now looking into swapping motors from either my 06, 08 into my 17. Even though about using the block of one to build back the 17 motor. Can't be more then the cams. Really don't know what all internals are different to change the TQ curve and HP curve. Any thoughts?

      More "Nanny" restrictions on the newer bikes. Go watch a tuner (like chris moore) work with one, he shows how even at WOT (wide open throttle) the bike limits it to 80-90ish% Despite the rider having the throttle completely pegged 100%. They can tune this nonsense out and With a air filter, exhaust and tune you can see as much as 40-50hp gains depending on the bike. The R1M he did recently went from 149 to 190hp.

    I’m torn between both 😭 New r6 face is better than the old R6 but the tail on the old r6 looks slick af! But the new r6 tail is also sick af. The deciding factor for me would be the cockpit view so the new R6 takes the W. If only the old r6 had a better cockpit view.

      @@BrosFOURRSpeed I bought my '09 R6 brand new When it came out and then had a crash before I even got to 5000 km on the bike. It needs about $2600-3500CAD To rebuild it fully (depending on whether or not I use OEM or after market parts). Cannot wait for that day to come as that bike was hardly broken in And all of those kilometers were short rides to and from work. not a fan of the New body style, the 2009 With that pointy almost hornet style look to it, sexy. That air intake between the headlights just looks vicious when you have a good custom paint job and after market Halo lights up front.. Of course I am slightly biased but It is without a doubt my favorite looking bike esthetically of all time. I can't think of any 600cc BMW, Suzuki, Kawasaki, and definitely not a Honda that looks better than it in my opinion.
      considering the 2008 and 2009 have the best power to weight ratio of any R6 made to date I'm Glad That's what I've got sitting in the garage waiting to be rebuilt.

    I’m sorry but that’s NOT how you upshift. Not to mention both of you are gassing it while pulling in the clutch😬😫 most people just aren’t meant to have any type of manual. Only time you up shift with a clutch is in a car! Even then if you know a car you don’t even need to in a car as well but it’s advised. Also not too big of a deal on a bike but when downshifting try learning how to rev match. In a car either shift to neutral or you should definitely be rev-matching if your downshifting

      I'm not too sure on the current market price for bikes right now. But I'd have a good mechanic or bike shop do a once over on the bike to check out the condition if you're not comfortable with doing a mechanical inspection yourself. Definitely check it out and see if it runs and rides normal first tho. In the winter my bike will sit for about 2 months. I'll try to start it up at least once in the middle of winter. But if it's been maintained well, it should be fine. Just might need an oil change

    Uhmmm…. Should have started the bike and let it warm up a little bit longer before reving it that high.. all the oil you need won’t be everywhere it need to be to not slip. Correct me if I’m wrong. But yeah always been told that. Even for vehicles. Unless you had those bikes warmed up before hand. So I can’t say if they were being cold started. Cold starting revs are bad lol anyways I’m babbling. Need more knowledge if anyone would like to correct me 🤷🏼‍♂️

      Bikes were already warmed up. Each were driven quite a ways to this spot to film.

    I'm sorry but I've watched a few of your videos now and your upshifts always hurt me on a deep level. You really gotta practice that sh!t man. Let off the throttle don't just leave it maxed if you're gonna ur not gonna quick shift

      It's not going to hurt the bike, but when I shift quick for videos, it always comes across like that, and not when I ride normally. Still on the stock clutch with 35k miles.
