Solid Axle Chevy S10 Build Part 2: Building A Custom Suspension

- It’s finally here. Part 2 of my 2001 Chevy S-10 build. This video focuses on the suspension system. One thing I forgot to mention in the video is why I bought a control-arm kit versus building my own. This was primarily due to it being a magazine build. The idea was to showcase that you can use readily available aftermarket parts to support a platform with little to no aftermarket support. Four Wheeler has such a massive and diverse reader base, we wanted to mix up the custom fabrication with off-the-shelf parts to showcase how easily this could be done.

I appreciate your desire to maintain an s10 look.
Thank you.
I love the build that's exactly what I have in mind for my 91 Jimmy s15 blazer. man I'm in tears wanting it
great built !
Great info. Now to apply it to the Sammi with Toyo axles. Really appreciate the coilover info.
Thank you for sharing I just found your vids 🤙
Love this build
Thank you.
Great build! Awesome truck. I’m building a 97 reg cab on 42’s and trying a 4 link up front. It’s challenging and understand why you chose the 3 link! I can appreciate the time spend on all the custom fab work you have done. I’ve waited a long time for updates on your build. Glad it turned out good for you. Ready to see some action videos!
Thank you and good luck with your build!
Amazing build sir
Thank you!
Beautiful work and Truck, came out awesome, my 03 Tacoma goes in Monday for its S.A.Swap, super psyched, can't wait until it's done, keep up the good work brother
Thank you and good luck with your truck! I love that Gen of Tacoma.
I wish I could afford to do that to my 2 door S10 Blazer
I saw the first video you did and this build is very intriguing to me. I have 3 S-10 blazers and wanting to build something similar with a couple of them out.
I have two friends (both brothers) that have solid axle S-10 Blazers. They are very cool. The rear wheelwells definitely make it a bit more challenging and important for axle placement.
I’ve personally been wanting to build a Crewcab dime like that for quite some time
Looks pretty killer perfect color and everything
Thank you. I’m very happy with how it turned out
I swear I saw you on the road a couple months back. I'm working on a s10 zr2 and I'd love to do what you've done here. Your truck is absolutely beautiful man I love it. Hope to see you out in it one day
Thank you! If you're in Wilmington, NC, you probably did see me.
Great job.
Thank you!
Love the truck and build. First truck I purchased on my own was an 88 S10 Blazer. I straight axled it on Wagoneer axles and then swapped to full width 1/2 ton stuff and then to 1 tons with 5.38s and 38s. The biggest problem I always had with it was it on leaf springs and too darn tall. I love how low you kept yours.
Thank you. I considered leaf springs initially as it would have been a bit easier and more cost effective. It's hard to keep these trucks low with tons, but we worked hard to trim as much as we could to keep it low (and retain a decent amount of up travel).
Nice truck I like it .
Thank you!
Killer build man. N also from nc
Thank you!
I cheated when I built my 2nd big block S10 4x4 , I put the s10 body on a K30 4x4 chassis. . You built a bad ass truck .
Thanks! A big block would be awesome!
Great video brother. Would love to do one like this for the blazer for myself one day. See you out in Moab here in April for EJS?
Thank you! Yes. I will be out there for most of the week.
How are you that good man good job
Miss my black s10 crew cab 🥲
this is amazing.!> good luck.!> stay in the CAGE...HAHAHA... Save the wheelies for the whipper snappers hahah
Ha! Thank you.
Awesome build man, I just put 03 f350 diffs under my 04 ZR2 blazer, was wondering what you did for your exhaust off the driver side to clear the driveshaft? Thanks 👍
Check out this link. It has photos of how the exhaust is done. www.motortrend.com/how-to/1911-punch-list-dialing-2001-solid-axle-swap-chevy-s-10/
love it ... looking to do something like this to my s10
where did you get that y pipe? or is it custom
It's custom.
Always wanted to do that setup on my blazer but went leafs, now its been sitting about 8 years, lol
It's never too late to start again!
@@Ali_Mansour_Editor yea, i know, but np241c's are ridiculous now, lol, and i need one with the vss output instead of the cable output like ive got, theres a guy selling them in cali that says he can convert mine, but id imagine shipping from arkansas to cali and back would kill that, lol
@@codya8684 Yeah, that’s not a shipping bill I would want to see!
What’s the wheel base on it? Is it still the stock 122” or whatever it is or did you stretch it?
The wheelbase is now 126. We pushed the front forward a little, but didn't move the rear much.
I love my s10 zr2 but theres really not alot of parts to make it badass like yours
I wish there was a better aftermarket for these trucks. Would have made my life much easier!
Did you use an astro steering box.
I'm taking my 04 ZR5 Crewcab s10 and going daily driver / trail rig. With 35" tires, and a Mercedes om606 diesel swap 4L80E, atlas 2 setup. Dana 44HP in front. Ford 9" out back. 4.56 gearing.
The box I am using is from PSC Motorsports. It's similar to an Astro Van box in that it has a forward swinging pitman arm.
@@Ali_Mansour_Editor What pitman are you using and does it have enough throw to turn the Super Duty axle full lock to lock?
@@affordabledcgenerators1607 It’s been a few years since I worked on this, but if I remember correctly, it’s a Wagoneer Pittman arm that we reamed out to use a one ton tie rod. It’s attached to a forward swing steering gearbox made by PSC. I have no trouble getting full steering out of the axle.
@@Ali_Mansour_Editor Cool, thanks for the info. I have a 2wd S10 that I'm finishing up a TBI 5.7 swap. Next are some axles. It's tough because I don't need tons but it's a lot of money to build anything less then a Super Duty D60 and Sterling 10.5
I will be going though your videos for inspiration!
Where u get that front bumper
It was custom built by Low Range 4x4.
I got a gmc jimmy. Sign me up?
And me too
I want one >>>>>>How much ?????
Not sure what you are asking. Price of the truck or to build the suspension? I stopped keeping track of what I've spent on the truck. If you wanted to pay Low Range 4x4 to build you a suspension like this, you would have to reach out to them for pricing. I don't want to misquote them. Parts alone for the suspension was around 5k if I remember correctly.
