That's the first manual swap crew cab I've ever seen I always wanted to do that to mine!! Awesome build my friend.
It's actually a really simple swap. I'm gonna change it to an nv4500 this winter hopefully, and will do an indepth video on all that!
@@ClinkenbeardStrong well at least you had a two-door 4x4 Blazer you could take apart and have all the pieces you needed and knew exactly how they all went back together which is awesome

Not many people do SAS and its cool you are building one yourself and taking pride in it. Ive done one to my 83 S10 with a V8 swap and did a 69 Bronco HP44 with Chevy knuckles so its stays 6 lug to my 98 Tahoe. You brought back some old memories when I remembered on my 83 the steering was backwards and was going to put a full size gear box on the outside of the frame before finding out the astro vans were reverse. That info back in 1998 when I built it was not available online and found out well just looking for a steering box at U-Wrench It. Im getting ready to start working on another dune truck and was considering the Nv3500 transmission as im also a fan of manuals but dang are they hard to come by.
@@PostalRedneck yes it's definitely something to take pride in. I think anyone that puts their heart and soul into something should be proud of it. The steering stuff is definitely an old school trick. That's a cool way to find out about it. I love cruising the pick and pulls. As far as the nv3500 goes I would maybe look for a 4500 instead?? I'm having strength issues with my 3500 and 40s. I will be doing a video soon on swapping to an nv4500.

@@nathanmccumber8965 honestly I only drove the truck long enough to get it to pass Oregon emissions. That was about a week. When I bought it the 4wd didn't even work. So with that being said, no I never wheeled it stock. I've had other s10 s and blazers, and they all did fine, but definitely have their limitations. They are low with small tires and limited traction devices. So just take them for what they are I guess.

You can use a hydraulic line lock for the E brake, those work really well, but not for long term use, don't set it and leave it for weeks, or you can use rear calipers off an 80's Vette with rear disc, and there is a GM car from the late 60's-early 70's, it's like a Tornado or Buick Roadmaster with rear disc
Those are all ideas I've thought of. There are some off a newer Cadillac that may be a direct replacement of the s10 ones I used. Thanks for contributing!!
Watching your video for the ebrake and running disc brake on the rear look into the Cadillac elderado brake calipers. They come with an ebrake setup built into the calipers from the factory. May need to modify or build new brakets for calipers but could be something to use and keep ypur rotors and add an ebrake relatively cheap.
Thank you. I did know that, and I appreciate the input! That is definitely an option for the future. I believe there are a set of calipers off off a newer style caddy as well that would bold right in place of the s10 calipers though. That's will be my first option when I get to that point.

Line lock kit will fix the parking brake problem
That did cross my mind. I was wanting to figure out something that was a little isolated from the normal braking system though. Ive found that there is an early 90s Cadillac that has cable activated ones that have a similar frame to the s10 rear calipers. So might dig into that farther.
Hey, I was just curious what you were using for front coil springs I am building a four-door Chevy Colorado only difference is mine is LS swapped and I’m putting it on 1 ton axles but I was curious you should be pretty close to the same weight range as me my coil overs are not supposed to ship until December so I was going to do some temporary coil springs and shocks down exactly like you did
I'm running 4.5" Rubicon express springs for a jeep TJ. I love the way they ride, but they are very soft. So something to keep in mind I suppose. That sounds like a cool build!!
Awesome truck, hey when you did the manual trans swap did you get any check engine lights and did you have to use the manual truck’s computer? I was thinking about doing that to a 4dr blazer
If you don't do anything with the computer, you will get a light. But the truck is still perfectly driveable. I had a guy that's local that does LS harnesses reflash my computer to tell it that is its a manual, and give it a bit more power. I've heard that your local GM dealer should be able to do that as well.
Thanks for the info, I will try and find someone that can do that to my computer since in the state I live in the vehicle won’t pass smog with a check engine light on even if it’s not emissions related

Roughly how much did I cost to do the SAS swap? Looking to do it to my 4 door jimmy just trying to get a idea in my head price wise
That's a really hard question to answer! Mostly because prices have changed over the years, and it really depends on how you go about it. But I would have to say it's probably close to a couple Grand just to do the front side of it. Just to give you a rough idea I paid 3300 bucks for my truck, and have close to 9k into it at this point. But that does include everything that I've done to it.
Are you running the stock brake master cylinder or a 1 ton cylinder
Factory s10 master. Deleted all the abs as well.
How do you like the gearing? I'm working on doing a sas using sd60s and was debating between 5.13 and 5.38 gears
The gearing worked better when I had 37s, but is still useable with 40s. If I were to do it over I would probably do 5.38s.
@ClinkenbeardStrong that's good to know. One day the truck will go ls but never hurts to have the lower gears
@@kyhillbillys10 that's an awesome option!!! Gearing is definitely key though. If you plan on any deep snow or rocks it becomes even more important!!! I'm currently looking into doublers to help with that.
@ClinkenbeardStrong it will be street, trails, hill climbs, rock ledges, and a little mud. I built a first Gen 2 door blazer that only had 4.10 gears and it was horrible for crawling.
@@kyhillbillys10 I could only imagine. 5.38s will be a huge difference!!! I can do some rock stuff now, it's just torture on my clutch.
Awesome truck, solid axle everything brother! Everything beats IFS! I really like the S10 Pickup, I did my First Gen 4 cylinder Tacoma, I wish I went right to tons, especially being I'm on 38s now 😮 D60HP coming in the future, but I ended up going with a Dana 30HP with Dana 44 Chevy k10 outers, AKA a Hybrid Axle, with 1/2" thick tubes, custom (Highly recommend) Dutchman Axle Shafts, locker and Warn Hubs, 6 lug , it's the most overbuilt D30HP ever built! We used what we had and it's almost exactly the same width as the stock Toyota rear axle, around a 1/2 inch in difference, I used the TG front Leaf Spring SASwap kit , I love my truck 🛻 it is my only truck 🛻 and daily driver, I drive her every single day and it's the only one here on Long Island, I subbed ya and if you want to check it out, she's on my UA-cam channel and Instagram @frankrubicon_ I'm not rich but tried to not cut any corners, I think it's pretty great! I'll keep watching your progress and keep up the great work 👍 And always think, at least it's not a Sheep, I mean Jeep! 😂

On the rear , are you running stock ride height 63" leafs? And how much shakle do have?
Yea, they are factory 3/4 ton leafs from an 05 Chevy truck. I think the shackles are 5" or 6“. Can't remember off the top of my head. I'll double check and let you know.
@@ClinkenbeardStrong awesome thank you! Im running the factory springs 180'd with a 5.5 shakle on ford sd axles. And they just do not hold up.
@@oneloudgoat that's interesting. I wonder if running the backwards is affecting that. I haven't been running them long on this truck. But have never had issues on others.

@@ClinkenbeardStrong yes, running factory s10 spring pack. Ride isn't bad but first big outing destroyed them.
Hey what did you do about the ABS
I eliminated it. Personally I'm not a fan of abs. I believe you can use the s10 hub bearings in a jeep Dana 30 and retain your abs.

@@brianwilson5666 the abs light is currently on. I plan on pulling the build noxt time I have the cluster out. It never cause the check engine light to come on.
