Great video! Followed your video to the letter and had my 18 year old daughter do the work while I supervised. Because of the tips and tricks you explained in this video, she did this all by herself and now driving her 2005 Grand Cherokee again. So far, because of videos like yours, she has replaced both headlights, radiator, hoses thermostat, spark plugs, ignition coil pack, and oil changes. Now, she is going to take on the brakes, calipers, and shocks/struts. All this training has paid dividends in quality father daughter time as we as prepared her well for the road. In fact, she had a flat not too long ago and changed the tire all by herself even though people were stopping to help. Thanks again to you and videos like yours!
Robert Brady Wow that is too cool!! I to have my daughters working on their own cars. That’s so awesome that you got father daughter time happy to be part of that. Thank you for watching and sharing!!!!
Im 17 and im replacing mine as we speak. So far peace of cake thank you!!

Glad you like the video. Thanks for watching!
I replaced my radiator, hoses, and thermostat watching your video. I really appreciate you taking the time to upload this helpful video.
Thank you for the video. Right to the point, no long drawn-out ridiculous intro. Just getting on with it.
You saved me a ton, I did this in about 4 hours because I took my time, but couldn't have done it without you. Thank you so much!
I may be trying this job in 2019. Thanks for posting this excellent video!
Thank you , tonight leaving work my 2006 grand Cherokee Laredo radiator was leaking all over the ground. I already overnighted a new one. I will be following your step by step instructions tomorrow after work !! Thanks Soo much for the information. You are a godsend
Tackled this today in just over 2 hours thanks to this helpful video.
Awesome glad the video helped out. Thank you for watching!
Very helpful video. Job actually seems easier than I'd thought at first. Thank you for making this!
Dude please do more videos. You're straight to the point and made me realize a simple thermostat replacement takes alot of time

Very helpful. Much appreciated. Start to the point . Best UA-cam mechanic.
Thank you very much for this video. I went step by step and was a breeze. Thanks again!!!
After a quote from Midas to replace the radiator for $1,200.00, I'm gonna save myself $900.00 and do the job myself following your video tutorial. It looks simple enough but I'll let you know how it went!!
Holy crap! I think you just saved this gal a bunch of money! Thank you. Took about 3-3.5 hours and no more leaking radiator!
VeloGirlPDX that’s awesome 👍🏻 glad the video help you save some money and get your car back on the road. Thank you for watching!

Awesome information it help today I had a busted radiator plastic housing on the right top
Thanks
Excellent demo im facing this exact scenario. Thanks for the good work.
Mitch Cornacchia sorry you’re Jeep is giving you trouble.
Thank you very much. Big help! I did the job on my 2005 4.7L and it was exactly the same set up. Jeep is up and running!
Good video I tackled this today. A heads up to people who has the 4.7L V8 it is less room to work than the 3.7. Also don't forget to take off the metal clamps on your old radiator.
Thank you. You helped me completely replace the leaking radiator on my 2010 Grand Cherokee
Glad the videos helpful. Thank you for watching!
GREAT HELP!!! Your great vid here just made my job 100% easier. Thanks! Mike n LA, Calif

Do you have a video on how to replace water pump on 2007 grand cherokee overland, 5.7 liter, hemi.
Thank you very much for doing these videos. Made the change fairly painless.
Great video, made the job so easy.
Dan Moreno glad the video was helpful. Thank you for watching!
Muchas gracias lo hice como tu lo explicas thanks I dit the job exactly you explained step by step keep posting videos
great video and no unnecessary stuff added to it!
Thank you!
My condenser has that exact same stain on it, and am now having an overheating issue. Is that stain/dark part on the condenser from the radiator leak/issue? I am just trying to find exactly where mine is leaking from, and it looks very similar to this situation. Thanks!
Did this last night in about 2 hours only due to trying to get the radiator out! Shop was charging $310 with part lol paid 120 for the radiator and fixed it myself! Thanks for saving me more!!!
king robb glad the video helped you save some money. Thank you for watching!
After replacing the fuel pump in my Jeep grand cherokee laredo 3.7 WK- Im now having a problem with a vapor lock and my new pump is making a ringing/humming noise off and on-is there a way to fix it with a inline check valve or inline filter of some sort. I have to release pressure on the fuel rail to re-crank it after it runs for more than 20 minutes/ which is a possible fire risk.
Excellent video, thank you. Help a lot ...
sanfranciscoguaynabo glad the video helped. Thank you for watching!
I'm getting ready to do this job but prior to this my wife had found our 2005 Jeep WK was leaking coolant rather severely from the radiator and had to get an emergency top-up; Advance Auto sold her a gallon of Prestone Dex-Cool, which about 90% of that has been in the system since then, though it was only driven about 80 miles before we had to leave it sitting for the last month and a half due to starter and brake issues. My question is, I have Pentofrost A4 to fill the new radiator with, which says its HOAT, or I can get Zerex if I have to - but is that 1 gallon of Dex-Cool going to screw anything up? Do I have to run water through the whole system to flush it, and how is that done?
Great vid thank you. no "ahhh" or "uhhhhhh" in the vid. You know your stuff. Thank you for posting.
Exelent vídeo
Thanks bro yu jist saved me 250 bucks definitely subscribed 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Nice Love hearing that. Thank you for watching!
Does anyone know what size Allen head will fit in that bleeder screw up on the water pump by the upper hose
Excellent video. Thank you!
Thank you!!!!
Thanks! A million thank you's... As someone who has never worked on a vehicle, this was easy to follow and allowed me to save the $175-225 on professional installation (spare the $20-25 I spent on tools). Plus, needing to have my car back up and running, lest I lose my job- this video has done wonders for my situation. Again, thank you.
Drew Livingston glad the video helped and you save big. Thank you for watching!
Great vid, I'm going to replace mine. Thanks!
ViktorKnight1 good luck with the repair. Thank you for watching!
You are Awesome 💯💯
I just wanted know where the thermostat is located. lol
But I watched the entire vid to see expert mechanic, expert automotive videographer and expert explainer wrapped into one. Thanks.
Buen travajo maestro aunque no ablo ingles te entendi perfectamente gracias
so I just did this on my 2005 GC with 3.7. Everything went fine until I tried to start it. It cranks great, but no start. Tried swapping relays for fuel pump, fuel pump fuses, checked all fuses. No joy. Any suggestions?
Any way to get written instructions? Great video. My local shop wants $750.
Is it possible that a bad Thermostats could stop my radiator fan from turning on?
Great Video...Thank you.
Two Wheel Rocco thank you and thank you for watching!
thanks for the step by step instructions i followed it the worst part was getting the radiator out IMO, this job took me over 6 hours of course i took breaks and stuff and went to the parts store twice, first for a new thermostat and second for antifreeze. had i been prepared i may have done the job in 4-5 hours.. its not real hard its just annoying more then anything. Thanks again for the video without it i would have paid a mechanic to do it and been out over $1,000. i paid 150$ for the radiator at pepboys
In this video, I saw the coolant color as pink. Is it normal?
Excellent video ..happens to be my exact car
Anthony Oppermann Glad you like the video and it helped out. Thank you for watching!
Perfect!!!
What is the real name of that snorkel box. I'm missing mine.
Any major differences for a 4.7L version? Looks pretty similar. Thanks for your video.
Bobby Brown The radiator is pretty much exactly the same the thermostat may be a little different.
Is the snorkel stock?
Great information. Thumbs up at 213
Glad you like the video. Thank you for watching!
Thanks
Stock snorkel??
I just did this for a friend on her 05 grand Cherokee 3.7 and the bleeder screw was stripped so i couldn’t open it. Ran the Jeep for about 20 min and the bottom hose is still cold but everything else is hot. Could that bleeder not being opened be the issue or did i not put the thermostats in correctly ?
i know its late but for anyone having this same issue, the answer is that bleeder screw is necessary to get all the air out. Same happened to me. Many systems bleed themselves with the cap off, but on this one you MUST remove that screw or else the system will air lock and overheat, almost like a bad head gasket
I have a leak behind my thermostat housing.....my coolant be empty in the mornings
Where can you get the funnel for the fluid you had there? The yellow one.
Here is an affiliate leak for the spill free funnel. amzn.to/3l5oCY3
What is number sand paper did you use to clean the thermostat housing ?
It was about 80 grit
The AC hoses gave me the most trouble. I also had to disconnect the transmission cooler lines. It wasn’t as easy for me, as it was for you. Great video though!
Well I’m glad the video helped you get the job done. Thank you for watching!
Did the radiator change out. This information is accurate but because of the difficulty involved with hoses, wires, pipes and lack of space it took eight hours.
I have the same Jeep. I replaced the heater core. It was leaking. I figured I would change the water pump, hoses, and thermostat while I was at it. I can't drive it more than 2 miles because the engine is getting really hot. The radiator is totally filled with coolant 14 and has been bled. Nothing leaks not even the radiator. Can these radiators clog like the radiators of yesteryear? lol. I think I can't go wrong if I install a radiator at this point.
Replaced the radiator today and still overheating. Don't know what to do. Any suggestions?
@@sammybaby1413 it's air. These are about the pickiest engines when it comes to air pockets in the coolant.
Mine would blow out coolant and not draw it back in due to a water pump seal leak. The engine coolant loop would air lock.
Thanks Brian. That was nowhere near as painful as the Titan starter replacement. LOL
The Milwaukee 1/4 inch is working wonders for you. I'm in the market for the half inch.
Thanks Brian. The older jeep cherokee's were even easier to replace. These are not bad, just more to remove to get clearance.
Ron Baynes I agree. Thank you for watching!
+How to Automotive. thank you for this video my 2005 jeep grand cherokee doesn't produce heat
edward kargbo thank you for watching!
Recommend replacing the hoses at the same time.
Bro you saved me 200 from an auto shop. THANK YOU
Jay Garz Glad to help you save. Thank you for watching!
Well that helped.. I would of been lost and took forever to do the damn thermostat. You do it in like 30 seconds lmao.
what about the 5.7
Hi. I replace the thermostat, now my two hoses are very tightly seems like they gonna explode the temperature goes until 3/4 and the coolant still the same level in the reservoir. What could be wrong?
Thanks
Did you also replace the radiator cap, only $5, change the cap and the thermostat at the same time and go with Stant brand or OEM. The rubber gasket and spring get weak in both over time effecting cooling.
Bleed the air out dummy
Fdo MH this i happening to me right now.😢😢
It's air. Never experienced an air lock on a cooling system until this one. you MUST bleed with that screw. Otherwise the air will NEVER come out.
I have a P0128 code, believe I need to replace the thermostat only. Can anyone point me to a video for only swapping the thermostat?
Do I need to remove the condenser and radiator to access the thermostat?
No, if you haven't already, just watch the 1st couple of minutes of this video then skip to the end when he puts the new one in.....its super easy on these. Just remove the lower hose where it goes into the engine....thermostat is right there.
You forgot to put back in the bottom bolts on radiator
*WRONG PART LINK - Motorad 416-180*
so i'm not sure if i missed something but the thermostat you linked (Motorad 416-180) does not fit my 2006 jeep grand Cherokee v6 3.7l. I should've doubled checked before ordering and took out the bad thermostat but wrong part my man, even Amazon says so (which i should've checked). but thanks for the how-to video.
I’ll look into that thank you for bringing that to my attention and sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you for watching!
With today's internet Google it yourself. Why would you need his parts link? Jeez
Dont recommend it to the backyard mechanic on the 04 4.7 gran cherokee
