Great video. Thanks. Regarding Preston coolant: It is strongly recommended using HOTA antifreeze 50-50 mix, Mopar 68048953AB or equivalent. because of aluminum head, cylinders and pump. provides corrosion protection. Don't use OTA, (they go into 2011 GC and newer), some say that gaskets will be "eaten up". (If you mix HOTA and OTA-mixture creates gel and plugs your cooling system). Per the manual, the minimum antifreeze percentage is 44%, optimum cooling and protection at 68%. Some people say "it doesn't matter" if you use green coolant (and I used to be among them), as the difference/damage is not immediately visible. Takes years for bad stuff to happen (corrosion, seals, bearings). But, there is a reason why Jeep engineers specified HOTA coolant. Do yourself a favor in the long run, make that extra trip to auto-part store, and buy the right stuff.
+lakesideranch Everything about that Jeep sucks.. that's the one with the mickey moused knock sensors I did a while back. We will see more of that one. Take care brother!
Good fix , thinking those 3.7 `s should of come with a extra water pump and extra valve cover gaskets from the factory , because they all are going to need them .
Excelent job, I like that you took the time to clean the silicone with the green pad. Can you make a video of how the Vacum hose work and where can we get one? Thanks
I take it that this is all the same for the 2006 Grand Cherokee as well? I had my heater core go out and now it still gets too hot while idling. I am guessing that it is the water pump. When it is moving it gets up to right before the half way point on the temperature gauge. I wouldn't mind any advice. Thanks again, this video was the most helpful I have found so far.
Pro tip on serpentine belts use a bungee cord strap and keep weak tension on the belt and remove the belt around the pulley you need to access and then you don't have to remove the whole belt
Just had mine done. Water pump with thermostat new anti freeze new serpentine belt new hoses upper and lower and Mobil One oil change with filter. Parts and labor $564.00.
hello just watched your video...im a noob on this kind of thing...whats the reason why you need to replace the water pump...will you notice it bad when you drive...and i saw you refill the coolant tank with the green stuff...did you have any issues when driving it
i replace mine and now overheats i purgue using the torx bolt in top of the hose but just get alot of steam and is been running for 20 min i cant get it out lower hose warm upper hose melting hot. any advice please?
The way I've done it, several times, when you fill the system... make sure the cap on the reservoir is closed, the radiator cap is open and the bleed screw on the engine where the upper hose goes to, is open. (it also helps if before doing all this you start the car, Turn the heat to MAX wait a few seconds and turn the car off. This should help get coolant into the heater core as well) Put a funnel in that bleed screw and a funnel in the radiator, if you need one, and fill both sides simultaneously. It will fill the radiator, most of the reservoir and it will get into the engine and travel thru to the thermostat. Fill until both sides start to over flow just a bit. Give both hoses a few good squeezes, the coolant level should drop on both sides a bit because you're pushing coolant into the air pockets and forcing air out. Add some coolant until it overflows a bit and repeat until the level no longer goes down. Remove the funnel from the bleed port, pour a bit of coolant into the radiator side while you have the bleed screw hovering over the port, as soon as the fluid starts to spill cap it off and thread the screw until tight. Cap off the radiator and top off the reservoir to the full mark and start the car. Let it run with the heat on for a few min, then turn the heat off. Whatever air is left in the system if any will be purged out on its own. Let it run about 10 or 15 min and as long as it's not over heating, rev the motor to about 1500-2000 rpms to get it up to normal operating temp so the thermostat opens. Once at normal temp the fan should kick on, this indicates the car has reached normal temp or higher and the thermostat should have opened. Check both hoses and make sure the hose coming from the thermostat housing is hot, not just warm. Good to go
Thanks for the video I have a 07 that I have to do today put quick question what was the pipe dope for that you put on the boats I'm gonna buy some and I'm going to do it but I just like to know why just curious thank you sir??
Easy! What the heck is that vacuum coolant device you have? I suppose it removes most if not all air in the system. The eco nazis probably love it. No spill! On the old LT1 engine I have, it has a bleeder, When I crack the bleeder first, THEN fill it up, it has no air! In any vehicle I am sure it would work in that sequence.

Replaced my wife's water pump and serpentine belt yesterday. It was a breeze thanks to your video! Thanks!
Thank you, knocked mine out in about 15 minutes with a new belt and an extra 8 for the oil change while I was at it.
Great video
Great video, extremely informative! I'm replacing my jeeps water pump today and will be following your directions to the letter! Thanks...
I have to do this in the next couple of days - thanks for the video! Looks a lot easier than I had feared.
Nice. Job , I’m doing one today on 07 liberty , and new thermostat.
awesome vid Bronco! Just found a leak today on my 07 Jeep, and this is exactly what I needed! i'll be on it tomorrow morning!
Same here my 07 jgc found leak today and I need to do this in the next few days the bleeding part is what’s stopping me 🫨
Thanks ! Excellent instructions, worked out perfectly!
Neat trick with the vacuum pump.
Thanks Carl!
+Rick Anderson Thanks Rick!
That's a nice and easy one to replace...Good stuff Carl.
Thanks for the vid. My liberty has the 3.7. Now I know it won't be to bad of a job when it needs one.
+satajet883 Thanks for watching, hope it helps ya!
Thank you, sir. About to change the wife's now. The video was very helpful.
thanks a lot for this video, have the same jeep, and had to do this today!! it was a great tutorial.

+Marcos Cintron Thanks for watching!
Very nice tutorial. I wish I had the tools to do my own.
one job im confident doin myself, i have a few under my belt, lol good video Carl.. i like the vacuum pump for the coolant, seems less messy..
Another nice job Carl,
The coolant in that Jeep was nasty !
+lakesideranch Everything about that Jeep sucks.. that's the one with the mickey moused knock sensors I did a while back. We will see more of that one.
Take care brother!

+wtbm123 It needs an intake manifold too lol.
Thanks for stopping by.

Great job. Appreciate the knowledge
Thanks brother, you help me allot!!!
Thanks...doing mine Monday...
Good Stuff Bronco Carl.... Thanks
Very helpful, thanks for you video!
Well Done!

+TuesdayChampions If it's cooling down once you are moving I would suspect the fan is not working properly.
Thanks for watching and the comment!
+Broncocarl92 thanks man. I'll look into that first
Great tip on the belt diagram a lot of time's the sticker's are gone or the cars been wrecked and there gone.
Good video, well done
Snap-on, Thumbs up to you sir!
Thanks a lot for the video, but I have a question, is it necessary to put a silicone before fixing the pump or the gasket will be enough?
Thanks for sharing
good work man, thanks
Can you do the power steering pump next? Pretty please your videos are awesome
Thank you so much brother

Thank you excellent video will be doing this tomorrow , what is that hand drill called I need one of those ?
Thankss
good job sir thanks
Great video Bronco. What was the sealant called again? For the longer screws? Thanks.
Is the weep hole suppost to be facing up on this jjeep.
So, just the sealer was leaking?
How do you know if it's the just the gasket or not that needs replaced?
How to change the motor oil pan for the jeep

What's the time frame ? in other words, how long did it take you (start to finish).
i replace mine and now overheats i purgue using the torx bolt in top of the hose but just get alot of steam and is been running for 20 min i cant get it out lower hose warm upper hose melting hot. any advice please?
CAT Mtz sometimes you need to jack up the driver side of the vehicle to get the air pocket out

Billy liquid pipe dope made by Oatey. You can get at hardware store or big box stores.
Do you have a parts list for this fix.
Problem is you already took the fan off i cant figure out how to get it off without spinning
Is the torque 40 lb on the water pump?

+Ghetto Wagon Makes life easier when the thermostat is at oil pan level..
That wasnt the tensioner, I think that's the idler.
same procedure for 06 jeep commander V8 4.7????? also would it be easier to access pump if I remove that plastic shroud around the fan???
I suppose. I haven't worked on one of those yet but what you're saying makes sense. Thanks for watching.
Does it matter that you used the green anti-freeze rather than the HOAT orange anti-freeze?
Richard Ortt -DNR- some people say yes some people say no.
When refilling the system, do you have to use a vacuum valve? or can I just dump it in the coolant tank with a funnel?
Jordan Waltjen the airlift system makes it much easier to get the air pockets out of the cooling system. It's not required but just very helpful.
So, when I'm refiling the system, do I put the coolant in the tank? Or directly into the hose?
Jordan Waltjen the tank
so for the 2007 model you don't need a fan clutch on the water pump?
That's the way they are.
i just replaced my thermostat, my fan clutch and the water pump , but my jeep is still heating up. any ideas why it keeps doing it ?
ll 1stPlace ll corrosion in the radiator? That white crusty crap blocks the holes. Try flushing it. Or you could need a new one.
do you need to use the vacuum pump to do the job for the anti-freeze
Fred Dubay no it's not required it just makes the job easier.
thank for the fast response i will doing it tues
I wish many days I could use both of my hands .... My jeep wouldn't sound the way it does ..😥
I liked this video till i saw green anti freeze
It's my favorite.
I would never own anything made buy Jeep Dodge or Chrysler, but I don't mind when they come in my shop everyday for repairs lol
Title says 2008 and and the first thing you say is 2007.
I know more about diy from Avasva handbooks!
