The rude comments from grown adults completely boggles my mind. Didn't their parents teach them that if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all? You'd think that with the amount of negativity in the world right now that people wouldn't want to add to it, but nope. They go ahead anyway, it's sad and pathetic and the only person the nasty comment reflects badly on is the person posting it in my opinion.

As for the woman in the community, I saw that post, and you handled it flawlessly. There is no reason to feed bad about it. You didn't attack her or stoop to her level. We were all just like what the hell. Why someone would put so much effort to tear others down that like that baffles me. Ain't no one got time for that.

This woman Rhonda sounds like the typical psychotic stalker. Who goes out of their way to follow and message someone they obviously dislike unless there's something terribly wrong with their mental state? What a sad, empty life she must live. Block her ass and never look back.

My mom always told me when someone is critical of someone - especially something physical, usually it indicates jealousy, or that something is so wrong with their lives. Helps me stay calm and react in a human way. =)

I think this was a very important video to make to help others understand but also great advice for others on how to respond to cyber bullies or bullies all together or how to deal with body shaming and relationships with others when one changes.
Those people "aka Rhonda and trolls" are gonna get karma for online harassment! Hope they learned their lesson on about not harassing others online cause it will come back and bite them👌
Thank you for doing this video. I have been cat called and laughed at and heavily criticised by family members. Even now as a 40 yr old woman, I feel like I have to hide away because I'm disgusting to look at. This is why I love your videos. Your attitude towards being fat is refreshing. You know that your a big girl (as am I) you are under no disallusion about your size. But you put yourself out on public forum to brighten the lives of others with your positive energy.

My family was the worst for mean weight comments! My mother loved to call me fat ass on a daily basis. She could be so cruel and to say it didn't hurt would be a lie. 😞
Social media was not around when I was in school, if it had been I can imagine how people would have had a laughing party daily on me. Everyday at school was laugh at me. I lost the weight but it is very hard to repair your self esteem. So glad you are here Kandy for all the girls.

Great video. A long time ago, like 20+ years ago, I actually had a woman come up to me in the grocery store and offered to help me shop. She looked in my basket, looked at me and said I needed help and she would help me. I stood there mouth agape and don't even remember how I replied. I was soooo shocked. I thought of a bunch of witty comments later. Now, if somebody came up to me and said that to me today it would be a whole different convo. Perfect strangers commenting on you, your body, or your groceries is NOBODYS business. Ugh!

I have a bit of a different take. I agree that being completely rude is abhorrent. And someone tracking you down and talking to your friends is out of control. But I do feel that when you are on a public platform you need to be able to take on the negative parts of UA-cam. There are always going to be people that react poorly regardless of what you do. And while I am not addressing you in this comment because I enjoy your content, but there are youtubers that lie and deceive their audience and I don’t think that those kinds of people shouldn’t be called to account when they document everything so publically. I have seen you respond well to people so I think you have that accountability and I think that’s important. I agree that there is a huge difference between rudeness and constructive criticism.
Goddess Andraste That is absolutely true and thank you for saying so! My husband runs a marketing business and he talks to clients about this all the time. It is part of putting yourself out there. You have a few choices. You can combat the people who are negative. You can ignore the people who are negative. You can block every single person that is negative. However, if you don’t have an assistant or team, I would go with ignoring negative comments. Many you tubers to have millions of subscribers have management teams and assistances who handle comments as their full-time job. One of my favorite UA-cams her name is made you look, her team goes through every single comment, if the comment is unkind it is removed. Her rule is that your comment must be kind or it will be removed. Her community in turn is very welcoming and full of wonderful comments, I am never afraid to say anything in that community. I always have nice things to say. I know that no one‘s going to say anything evil in return. Because everything goes through a filter before it is posted. Now I know that can’t be done here, not yet. But social media platforms these days are open and free to do whatever people want to do and you’re going to get what ever comes out of their mouth. It’s sad to say but that’s the way it is.
I’m so sorry you had to deal with this - the Rhonda story was particularly scary. How sick and twisted does someone have to be to practically stalk a person online and verbally assault them?
That point that you mentioned about the difference between roasting/ribbing a friend and being malicious/bullying is literally what I talk about when I'm invited to speaking in schools and I even did a video about it. I'm about 10-15 kgs overweight and my grandma tends to say hurtful things to me without her even realizing it. Like, she asks everyone if they'd like to eat something, and then says to me "oh I won't ask you what you'd like to eat, you don't need more food". I know she doesn't say things like that to make me feel like shit, and old people rarely change, but it's really degrading to me. The worst thing is I've only always experienced these kind of things from my family, not from strangers. It came to the point that when I go home to visit, I am afraid to take anything from the fridge when someone could see me,and I don't eat more than them, if anything, I eat less

If she keeps doing it then you know she cares more about her opinions than she does you. Visiting family should be a pleasant thing.
My grandad is the same. He hugged me once and said ‘oh giant fat roll’. That was about 5 years ago and it still hurts.

Louise Belcher well I'm not sure how it works in America but in Canada cyber bullying, and bullying in general is taken very seriously. Telling someone to kill themselves makes you liable, and harassing individuals online is a criminal offence. Suicide is no joke, we don't know what people are going through. So yes, it's a serious matter.

I usually don't get too bothered but one time I was leaving work (at a local College Campus) and a group of 3 young guys were walking in as I was walking out. 2 of them were tall, muscular, and very handsome young men... One was much shorter and not quite as attractive.
They were kind of whispering and laughing as we approached each other. The shorter guy starting cat calling from about 100 feet away then said 'Hey baby! Can I get your number... We should go out sometime?!' I replied 'Heck yeah... Let's go!' His friends laughed...
What happened next is the moment I'm not so proud of because I literally said 'Nah I'm just messing with you... You're not really my type... I am just the obligatory fat funny friend so I totally get what it feels like being the short ugly friend. You have to be the entertainment... They gotta find value in keeping you around somewhere!'
He actually apologized... His friends laughed at him the whole way in the building. In the moment I felt awesome... but afterwards I felt like a heel.

Hi Kandy, I don't have a channel, but I commented on a video saying how lovely it was, only to be called a f**king creep by someone. which I have to admit really upset me, and I didn't comment on any video for quite a while. I can't begin to understand how people can be so nasty, for no reason other than to hurt a persons feelings. I found you a few weeks ago and am binge watching your vlogs, and I think you’re fabulous! I have struggled deeply with mental illness and have felt exactly the same as you. You’ve made me feel not alone ❤️ my piece of advice to you and to myself and to anyone else dealing with mental health issues is to ALWAYS take your meds as your doctor has prescribed, to NEVER skip your therapy appointments, and to be completely honest with your therapist about how the treatment is making you feel. I don’t know why, but i felt ashamed - yes, ashamed - when a certain medication wasn’t helping, so I would lie and say I felt fine because I didn’t want to hurt my doctor’s feelings or make her feel like she wasn’t doing a good job with me (I know, I KNOW, it’s stupid!! I’m better about it now). Don’t let the haters make you feel bad for your weight, your mental health, your diet, or anything else, it’s YOUR life and the only thing that matters is that you live the way the makes you happiest 😊😊

Comment in general we all must figure out what is good for our self we only have the right to judge ourself. So when people come along that decide to judge others compassion and respect are lost. The act of giving compassion and respect is the greatest life lesson we can gift to others and cost nothing.

I enjoy the Candid Kandy series so much! You are so wise and honest about the subjects you've covered so far and I have no doubt that you will continue to be. I was taught that if you don't have something nice to say then don't say anything at all. I don't understand why that's such a hard thing for people to do...I'm amazed at how mean people can be in UA-cam comments! That's why I generally don't go through UA-camrs' comment sections reading their comments...I just leave my comment and go most of the time. And you're absolutely right about constructive criticism. There is definitely a nice way and a wrong way to say things and some people act like they either don't have a brain or don't use it when they say things, hahaha! Honestly speaking from experience sometimes we have so much self hate pent up it just spills over onto other people and we don’t even know that we are projecting. I’ve definitely had negative thoughts and comments about others but I try to realize my own faults instead of let it get out of hand and make a negative comment 😞

Doesn’t Matter - Interestingly, some of the most rabid and obsessed haters I've experienced were fat acceptance activists and the male "fat admirers" who hang around the movement. I dared openly admit that my weight was damaging my health and quality of life, and lost some weight and kept it off long term. That really pissed some of them off. I went against the groupthink.

I was getting all kinds of hateful and degrading comments on my videos. I do a lot of different things but people like my cakes and candy crafts. I would get so many people calling me fat, obese and how gross I look. They would say I should be eating vegetables instead of cake not know my health issues that I openly talk about on my channel. Once I found the word blocker in the creator studio that’s I did. I blocked all the hateful words and comments. So now no one can post a comment that has the word fat, whale, obese etc etc. It works for me, I can have thick skin most days but some days those comments really get me.
