  • In this video we discuss some of the things we dislike about the Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute, and we compare it to other Dyson stick vacs. Check out the V10 on Amazon: amzn.to/2q8ZQK9
    Read our detailed V10 written review here: vacuum-cleaner-advisor.com/Dy...
    Some of our Favorite Vacuums listed below:
    UPRIGHT - Our Favorite
    Shark Vertex: amzn.to/2KFVK9T
    UPRIGHT - Homes with Pets
    Shark Vertex: amzn.to/2KFVK9T
    Shark ZU632: amzn.to/378L6QM

    Shark Rocket Pro: amzn.to/3o2nJzc
    We highlight that the battery cannot be swapped out, that the trigger must continually be depressed to get power, that you only get 60 minutes of run time in certain configurations of power and cleaner head, that the dustbin can be tricky to empty, that it is heavier than its v6, v7 and v8 predecessors, that the handheld component is a bit bulky, that on Max mode the battery life is rather short, that on low power mode you only get 15.8 air watts of suction, that it isn't easy to determine whether it cleans better than the V8, and that it is a rather expensive cordless stick vacuum.
    I would also like to point out that I make every effort to be unbiased in my videos. If there is something about a product I do not like - I will let you know!

    I have owned a v10 for around 3 months. Despite the negativity on this thread, I find it to be an awesome machine. Relative to a smart phone and given 5+ years longevity, I don't consider the cost all that bad. It does a fabulous job on my 65m2 apartment leaving the floors noticeably cleaner and vacuuming is fun again! For my requirements I can just about clean the entire floor area on a single charge and there is absolutely no battery fade. Admittedly using the carpet attachment drains the battery more quickly, but with 1-2 uses per week this has been a transformation and it is taking less time to get the same result as my previous machine. The only complaint I have is that the filter appears to need a monthly clean, but I understand that's normal for a bagless device. If you have a large house with carpets, however a battery operated machine might not be appropriate.

    My main complains from having the V10:
    -Low Battery life w/ long charging time
    -Trigger has no guard so it's ridiculously easy to accidentally set it off
    -Air vent blows directly into face (fortunately the filtration is great)

    I'm amazed at how passionate the commenters are about their Dysons. I guess if you spend that much you'd have to be? Just got a V8 recently and love it so far. After watching videos like this I decided the slightly improved V10 was not worth the extra money for me and my small house. Again, thanks for the great video!

    Extremely thorough. Thank you. I just bought the V10 (Cyclone Animal) at Target and tried it out today. This is my first Dyson, so I don't have any comparative experience to share. However, I will say that most of the concerns seem minimal too me. I am most surprised by the weight. I thought it would be lighter than it is. But the most SHOCKING thing I learned was how deep and wide my "debris field" was this morning. I did a double take when I saw all of the cat fur in that canister.

I can Do my whole house and bring it to the boat and do the whole boat. I was Able to clean the dog hair from my fabric car seats as well.

    The biggest plus of the V10 for me is the canister capacity upgrade. I use my V8 to vacuum my upstairs which is hardwood and carpeted and I have to empty it 3-4 times each session depending on how much hair the dogs have decided to leave behind that day. I have two heavy shedding dog breeds (and a cat that sheds a bit) so the task at hand is a big one sometimes.

    Great review. Wow, I expected a linear improvement of the v10 over the v8, just like the v8 over the v6. It's not like that at all. Hopefully they go back to keeping it simple with the next iteration.

    A locking button for the on/off switch is a simple affair that I have on most of my power tools. Shape up for V11.

    • @Alexander_l322
      @Alexander_l322 3 роки тому

      Your cordless drill doesn’t have a lock does it? The dyson doesn’t for a good reason so if you’re that lazy where pressing a trigger is hard for you then you’ve probably not vacuuming as much as you should be anyway.

    • @stenmoeller
      @stenmoeller 3 роки тому

      @@Alexander_l322 Of course it does. As I say, I have that on most of my power tools. If you don't care about it, that's all right by me, but I want one, so don't patronize me. OK?

    • @Alexander_l322
      @Alexander_l322 3 роки тому

      Sten Møller I have yet to find any drill that has a trigger lock that I’ve ever bought because they are not great, only good for mixing or using a wire brush attachment. I do care, I own a V10 and it’s great in fact better than any corded vacuum I’ve ever used and it not having a trigger lock makes it even better. Get one or a V11 but don’t expect it to lock on as that is such a dumb idea on drills and cordless vacs but for different reasons. OK?

    • @Alexander_l322
      @Alexander_l322 3 роки тому

      Sten Møller well actually there is an aftermarket attachment you can buy to add a lock to the trigger but it’s not included in the original design for good reason. Only old people/ people with arthritis may see a benefit but also will see reduced run times. OK?

    • @stenmoeller
      @stenmoeller 3 роки тому

      @@Alexander_l322 I cannot comprehend why you bother to argue. If you read carefully, I say "most of my power tools". The drill is just one. And you don't know how I use my tools. So why do you bother? You be happy without it, I want it. OK? - The End -

    Yes thank you for you video and this is still relevant for today's (2022) vacuums. One thing I dislike and wish they would bring back is the dirty canister on the older models. I hate removing the wand before emptying the canister. I just want to grab the vacuum and go. When full I like to just go over the garbage can click it to open. Snap it back and keep vacuuming or hang it up. I vacuum because I have to not because I want to :)

    Just bought mine a few days ago. I agree with some of your points. I will say overall I am satisfied however the one issue I had to mention is the lack of a non-powered wide sweep accessory head with the purchase of the device. I want the battery to last a long time so I don't mind using a non powered accessory however my Dyson only comes with the powered wide sweeper head. I had to buy an aftermarket sweep. This accessory should come standard with purchase in my opinion. Just my $ 2 cents.

      Lennox1492 Probably money reasons. If something goes wrong with the battery, they want you to have to send the whole machine in for repair ($$$). Or, they would prefer that you buy a more updated model ($$$)

    • @diarx1
      @diarx1 5 років тому

      Exactly, they're just following smartphone planned obsolescence with unchangeable batteries. Battery life becomes too short just out for warranty and well before the products expected useful life. Even if they offer a battery replacement program they still make more money from the people who will just go out and buy the next new model.
      It's a shame because whilst I replaced my old dyson stick, I managed to buy a knock off battery for the old one and gave it to my parents to use in their motorhome, so it's still in use today rather than being discarded like some of these un-replaceable battery models might be.

I reckon the move towards cordless is inspired by the fact that high priced cordless have more profit than lower prices mains powered vacuums. Some cordless vacuums come with two batteries, so no problem if battery goes flat half way through cleaning, you just plug in the second battery.

    I decided it was important to update this video with a new, small section on max run time and also a clearer section on V10 vs V8 run-time and power (all data & info originally presented was accurate just so you know). I apologize to those who watched or commented on the video already. I very much appreciate anyone watching my videos and especially those who take the time to comment. Unfortunately I learned that you cannot edit a UA-cam video but rather have to replace it, thereby removing everything associated with it. The original video has been up for about 5 days and I thought if I was going to make an edit I better do it soon - this video will be up for several years I suspect. I will try to ensure this doesn’t happen again (at least to the best of my ability!).

      I like the way the V10 bin empties, much easier! The red push button is not delicate to use. The weight feels comparable to my V8. Your review seems very anal.

      Agree. His complaints are so picky but if this is the worse that can be said, you know you have a awesome vacuum.

    I was initially worried about the run time of the v10 and the battery. In practice, I've never ran out of battery yet and I normally run it with a powerhead on max. I have a 800 sq, 1BR with mixed hard floor and carpet. Even if I owned a house where I might run out of power, I would just plan my cleaning so that I am vacuuming sections of my house at different times, cleaning while charging. The trade off of a handheld is worth it.

    I have the DC59 animal and the V6 Fluffy and both run 20 mins on lower power and 15 minutes on high. What is most annoying is the dyson tools are not compatible with other dysons. I have a Dyson DC34 that no longer works as the battery has gone kaput on it. I cannot use the tools for that on either of my DC59 animal or V6 fluffy.

    I have a chow and a cat and my vacuums wouldn’t last that long without getting clogged up. I just used this device and I’m sold, it’s to easy to use. I like it.

    I don’t understand why you woul need a locking on / off switch
    Why would you want it to run if you weren’t holding it ?

    Another thing to worthwile to consider are the possible reasons for the differences in the models rather then just comparing cons and pros, as it gives better perspective why changes are made.
    For example emptying the v10 dust bin I also found the release mechanism slightly awkward however given as you said most likely the attachments will be removed anyway to gain better access to a normal bin, it's where the difference in design is likely supposed to make it easier and more natural with the weight pointing forward into the bin vs holding up the V8 and open underneath.
    I haven't tested the old ones but probably anyone gets quickly used to anything anyway but I can see the v10 makes for a better design choice and thus be an improvement. Ideally the release mechanism would be nice to be more sturdy for sure.
    Perhaps there is a difference also in clearance with the designs, how much easier it is working in tight spaces is stairs, corners and underneath things...

    Unfortunately these handhelds are two heavy for me as I have osteoarthritis in my hands. 100 air watts of suction is not enough. My mains powered cylinder / canister cleaner has 400 air watts of suction power.

    I felt I made a wrong decision in getting my first Dyson V10 Absolute Vacuum. I only used it for 5 times throughout my ownership of this vacuum. I use and charge up the battery 1 time every 4 months. My Battery died with a blinking red light on me even if I only use the vacuum at a medium setting and charge the battery of the vacuum after usage. I only use the vacuum for cleaning the ceiling cobwebs as I have another robot vacuum for cleaning the floor. The hype that the battery lifespan lasts a very long time is really an oversell. I found out from a lot of user complaints on the web. I really was disappointed with the vacuum. The low setting is weak, mid was just nice, the high is too strong.

    Dyson Canada sells batteries for the Dyson V10 for about $150. Not cheap by any means.
