I have a question. When you get a 1st or 2nd degree burn when having your hair straightened after application of the keratin treatment is it most likely that the hair will fall out after a few days of the application? I dont know if you can answer me but I was just curious to know.
Ive had the GK keratin system applied two different times over the last year. I got it on a groupon (about $100, i think) and the stylist was visibly shaken when i walked in at my appointment time. She said “oh. I dont know what you expect but, this treatment is not going to straighten your hair. Its not a perm.” I was like “great. I dont want it to be straight. I want it to somewhat loosen some of my curl and be shinier and healthier looking.’ (She kinda shared that she’d never done a Black womans hair before-but i wasnt really concerned,🤷🏽♀️) She went through the steps and in about 2 hours i was done. Hair had been flat ironed and i was instructed not to wash it for 3 days. After a week i washed it and got exactly what id expected. Keratin cuts my drying time at LEAST in half, i have less breakage when i comb it. And it seems to be shinier and healthier looking when i just wash then style without blow drying it. Oh yeah, my curl pattern at the crown of my head is much looser and easier to comb so-win win😉
Hey Brittney, I would really like to know your opinions on the no shampoo movement; is it total bs or does it have merit?. Great vid! Always enjoy the vibes you give off:)
Nico Marquardt you have beautiful curls! I was wondering if it's possible to keratin treatment on just the bangs and leave the rest curly, or would that be weird
Meagan Collins I think it wouldn't blend that well tbh. No matter what people tell you, a keratin treatment will change your curl pattern more or less.
I respect hair stylists and professionals. I just want to note that I DIY brazilian keratin treatments and find it easy. Anyone can do this if they have the patience and 'some' hair knowledge. Mine last for months and makes my hair stronger and easier to blend with my extensions. Thanks for the video!
I get a treatment once a year just to tame the frizz down the entire length. I can maintain most of my naturally wavy texture but the ends are always dead straight so wash n go isn’t an option anymore. Really something to consider before.
Loved this video. Keratin has changed my life; not to sound too dramatic, but I love it! I've been using keratin for three years, and the curl is now nearly completely out of my hair, just my roots grow in curly/frizzy. I keep having keratin put throughout my entire length for the strengthening benefits.
I feel your pain when dealing with frizz. The struggle...... And as a client, I am so 100% behind the stylist being mindful of their health and safety.
the price variation is kinda crazy! 2 hrs north of me in Scranton, PA I paid $200 a few yrs back... Outside of Philly a few weeks ago I paid 400 (350+50 long hair charge)... so $480 with tip. Oy. @ almost 500 I don't think I can do it as often as I'd like... or I'll be traveling. I do tend to see some salons advertising it for much less but around here most decent salons start @ 300+ so I don't think I even trust the other places BUT it is tempting. I'll probably just stick with my stylist and do it less often :( I think it is 100% worth it like you said if you can't even run a brush through your hair after drying... just being able to air dry is freaking awesome, and if I do want to really straighten it it takes no time at all and HOLDS up to the weather. before I'd spend 45+ minutes straightening and then after an hour in the humidity or if water even sprinkled on it.... DONE lol. I have very thick frizzy wavy messy dumb hair so it's a real miracle worker for me. I have considered the Japanese straightening many times but I am so happy with the keratin and health of my hair so I doubt I will try it. Anyway thanks for the awesome accurate info!! was watching some other gals talking about it giving really wrong and confusing info and it was kind of getting on my nerves. never comment but love your vids!!
I've been binge watching for about two weeks now, (BTW, BIG FAN!) and this makeup just gave me life! I wasn't gonna wear makeup today, but now after seeing this I HAVE TO!
I use Paul Mitchell keratin treatment in my salon which is extremely affordable, and isn't meant to straighten the hair. It improves strength, shine, and makes color last longer. Smoother comb outs too. Was wondering if you've tried it? My clients love it.
I buy a product called Neutral Protein Filler. It can be added to other products (kind of like a volume developer) or by itself like a regular protein treatment (I use it as a treatment, I don't do anything crazy lol).
Your makeup is beautiful as usual! I like that you offer us new makeup looks every single video :3 Please keep doing informative videos I love them as well as haircuts with your clients, consultation included. I miss them like he one on how to cut curly hair :3
I have curly hair(I think 3b) but personally I want straight hair and I straighten my hair very often and don’t wear it in its natural state.I personally think it would be easier for me although I’m not sure what to do,Brazilian blowout, keratin or Japanese.I personally want straight hair,I thought the blow out straightens your hair? Also can I use heat on my hair after the setting period, like if I want temporary waves for a day or if I put my hair I’m a bun will I get temporary waves? Great video as always!
Brazilian blowout is AMINO ACID based, and keratin is, well, keratin based... the molecular size difference is like a jelly bean (BB) to a golf ball (keratin). Think of: “sand in a pothole” for the BB, and “black top resurfacing “ for a keratin. Both smooth out the grooves along the strand, but BB settles into the nooks and crannies more at a molecular level. Keratin forms a “linked shell” on top of strand and thus, forces the curl into a “straighter” pattern for a longer time. The BB “smooths” for a longer time. I love them both though!!
Is it harmful for your hair? I've been thinking about getting a keratin treatment but I'm a little scared since my hair has been bleached and I have quite a lot of split ends.
I would say if it's done right, it is great for the hair. I do mine on my own and it has strengthened my hair so much and I love the fact that I don't need as much heat after I do it. I have bleached blonde hair with extensions.
I'm only 40 seconds in. But really strong Keratin treatments are no joke. I had my previous stylist put TrisolaTrue brand keratin treatment in my hair 4 times over the course of two years. My last TT treatment was 3 years ago and those ends still won't revert back to their normal texture. Been transitioning ever since.
I am stylist, I do agreed on the Brazilian blowout leave the hair a little more straight then then keratin. I used all of them and that’s what I experienced as well. 💁🏻♀️
I had a Botox hair treatment done, which is similar to Keratin but without all the harsh chemicals. Now, I color my hair before the treatment like its suggested, but all of my black hair dye came out.
I was getting keratin treatments for years, had it in top salons around the world but I started to realize that after a while it was making my hair really damaged when it had ran out in my hair, must've been from the heat of the hot irons. So I would not recommend it unless you are going to continue getting it forever!
Do you have recommendations on which hair salon to go to depending on which state you’re in? And by the way I love your videos, thanks so much for everything you put into them.
I literally had no idea i had any interest in half of the super in depth hairstylist stuff you post, but honestly your opinion shines through so much that you make me interested 😹😘
keratin was awesome when i lived in humid weather! takes all the frizz away. now i live somewhere with drier weather (and a lot of pollution), and i feel like my hair needs are very different.
Would you please add in your video about bangs if you have a big forhead like myself with a short hair style and I've never had bangs how to retrain your hair to lay for bangs and what style is best to cover chrome domes! Thanks Xo
Your hair always just highlights your skin and eyes. I have been trying for years to find the "perfect" color and shade. Do you do online consultations? I live in TX :(
Honestly, they are more for the surface, like smoothing and maintaining frizz until the next wash. Shampoos and conditioners do not really have much potential to penetrate the hair. The cuticle opens with damage, heat and/or chemicals to allow proteins and such to penetrate. The shower is typically not hot enough to help the protein penetrate. Plus, most shampoos and conditioners have a very diluted amount of protein, so it won't be very or if at all effective. They just help the surface, giving very, very temporary results. Masks and treatments are the way to go, but it is best to go to salon because depending on the hair type and formula used, it can give you unexpected results and it is good to find out how to care for your hair after getting it done. Also, some can be dangerous due to chemicals and you want to see a professional to prevent any lack of safety precautions and possible reactions.
My hair is longer wavy thicker, I have virgin hair, I’d say my hair is drier it absorb oils so quickly. It is pretty unruly but holds a style (I don’t know if it’s cause it’s dry? ), when it’s most manageable is when it’s straightened, I don’t treat it with heat often about once a month. Would keratin be the best to try first ??
I've been wanting one done for years now, but I keep hesitating. I literally don't know who to go to or where to try. I asked around but have received no real answers. This was informative Brittney thank you!
Can u help me get rid of dandruff? I’ve been trying a lot of remedies but nothing works. If not, then can u make a video in how to properly wash your hair? (I’m very desperate 😂)
I don’t know how I lived without a keratin treatment before! My hair is the definition of unruly, and because it’s coarse and thick, I have absolutely no patience to style it. Question for you...what are some of your favorite cream lighteners for application by the scalp?
I have thick kind of wavy hair....would I benefit from that? Sometimes I would love to just have very straight hair without having to put the product in then straighten it etc...every week
Hi Britney!:) Does it matter if you have several layers of box dye in your hair and want to have the treatment done? Does this affect the process?? Thank you😊
Can you do a video on oils for hair? Read a lot about certain oils that are more beneficial at the ends of hair only and some that you put in while hair is wet or dry. So much info out there but would like your opinion on the best options and how to use them for their best potential. Ive also read some oils won't work if you used conditioner itll just sit on the hair not absorb and in turn do nothing for you in the long run.
Great video. I'm in barber school and learning about all this. I would love to provide this service to my clients. I definitely see a market for this in the barbering industry. Btw, what's a good brand to use? Thanks, keep up the good work.
This may sound like a really stupid question, but are keratin treatments made ONLY for certain hair types? I have a very confused head of hair and idk what to do with it! Only recently a young black hairdresser that I met on an airplane brought to my attention that she could do my hair and she’s thinking I know all these terms she’s saying but I didn’t and I found out it’s because she thought I am black. Which I have no doubt I have a little of whatever type of race in my genealogy-that’s the great thing that makes us all unique individuals. But it’s a pain to figure out what to do with my hair! Any suggestions?
My hairstylist once told me that the keratin treatment can really damage your hair. For example if you did it to get rid of the frizziness, than once it's out of your hair, your hair will become even more frizzy, and that's how you can't get rid of redoing this procedure over and over again to keep your hair looking good. Is this true?
Dansy D it depends on the level of heat and number of passes your stylist chooses to use on you during the treatment. Too high, and you’ll burn hair just like you would without the the treatment on the strand. :)
My hair is very fine (though, I'm told I have a lot of it). I have extreme anemia (I am on iron supplements). I feel the anemia is causing my hair to fall out more rapidly, break more easily, and become quite frizzy. If I run my nails down s strand, it will curl up like a corkscrew. Will a keratin treatment help until my iron has increased?
I have naturally straight hair have been growing it for three years and length hasn't changed since i get and breakage will I be a candidate for a keratin treatment
I think it's important to note it doesn't always straighten your hair. I got one done in High School and I have 3B curly hair (give or take) and it didn't straighten it at all. It did get rid of 90% of my frizz though and that was great. I remember being a little disappointed after I got mine for the first time though because everyone told me it would straighten my hair and it barely did anything. It wasn't even the person who did it because I got it done by other people and it was the same thing. Little to no frizz but no straightening action for me. Apparently nothing but a titanium hair straighter can beat my curls.
yeah I think there's a lot of misunderstanding about whether it straightens your hair or not, I watched a few youtube videos and found hers to be the best by far. I've had a few keratin treatments now and there's a lot of reviews that are confusing on youtube lol. luckily my stylist told me what to expect but yours should have as well! but to be fair, Brittney didn't say it would straighten.. she did specify it's for manageability and may loosen curls a bit. it certainly smooths my hair and my waves aren't as crazy but they are definitely still there. the frizz being gone makes it all worth it tho. if I bother to straighten it it will actually stay that way and that is priceless lol. w.out keratin I would spend forever on it only to have it blow up after 10 mins in humidity. I am only sad I can't afford to do it more x per year lol
You can. But it makes the keratin wear off some. I normally dye or highlight my hair before I get my keratin done. So it’s fresh and I don’t have to do it for awhile. But be warned the keratin may strip the hair a shade.
Hii Brittney! I have a question. You mentioned you can get a keratin treatment every 2-6 months depending on the strength. I have 4c hair, if I get a keratin treatment can I do a touch up on my new growth after 10 weeks? Also my hair is relaxed, Is it safe to do a keratin treatment on relaxed hair?
Hi, loved the video. I would like to know if it's possible to dye my hair before or after the keratin treatment?. How long do I have to wait to color my hair after the treatment??? Thank you.
Question; I recently bought this shampoo and conditioner for my 2 year old.. her hair has an odd texture. She is a natural redhead and the texture of her hair is somewhat corse LOOKING but it is very soft to the touch. Well I got her the brand 'hask' & its the keratin protein shampoo and conditioner from that line to see if it would help the looks of it and I've used it 2 times on her and still no difference? The reviews of it online are great and everyone loves it.. my question is does it take a few more time to see results with a keratin protein shampoo or what? What would you reccomend for her hair? I use marrakesh oil on her hair after the bath & it's been a holy grail but I'm needing a good shampoo & conditioner for her!
And my daughters hair sticks straight up in the air if I don't put oil on it after the bath. Heck sometimes it sticks up even with oil. And her hair is pretty long now and it sticks up about 4 inches in the air.. it's wild😂
QUESTION! So I got a keratin treatment for the first time a while back like 2012 & I believe that is the reason why my hair is STILL & CURRENTLY falling out, I’m almost bald now since it’s been so long ago. Do you have any advise or suggestions as to what I should do to help the hair loss?
Get blood work done at the Dr, I have hair loss and so does my older sister. Her hair type is different and she's never altered her hair. I think we have PCOS, there's so many things that cause hair loss, I would get blood work done. You can look up videos on TikTok reasons for hair loss in women. Stress can cause it too
Hey Brittney! I did the big chop about a year and a half ago, so now I have natural pretty kinky/curly hair (about 3b/c). My hair is now a little bit passed my back and I go in about every 8-9 weeks for a trim. My hair is pretty fragile and splits easily. I've been thinking about getting the keratin treatment down. I know you said that the keratin could strengthen your hair, but would you recommend it, based on my hair type?
Denise M I'd recommend maybe trying to get as much moisture to your ends as possible and use a satin or silk cloth to wrap your head before sleep to protect your hair or buy a pillow case made out of those same materials.
A little part of me wants a keratin treatment but I love my natural hair so much that I wouldn't want to do anything to compromise the texture. I don't think I can go without my curls for that long.

I have a question. When you get a 1st or 2nd degree burn when having your hair straightened after application of the keratin treatment is it most likely that the hair will fall out after a few days of the application? I dont know if you can answer me but I was just curious to know.
Please make a video about the Japanese straightener
Shay Blossom17 and relaxers!
Yeah! The Japanese straight perm!
Ive had the GK keratin system applied two different times over the last year. I got it on a groupon (about $100, i think) and the stylist was visibly shaken when i walked in at my appointment time.
She said “oh. I dont know what you expect but, this treatment is not going to straighten your hair. Its not a perm.”
I was like “great. I dont want it to be straight. I want it to somewhat loosen some of my curl and be shinier and healthier looking.’

since you're due for one... can you show us your natural hair before & after your keratin treatment?!
I looooove Brazilian Blowouts, it's literally changed my life 😍😍😍 I have frizzy hair and it's so much more manageable.
Emma Dear yeaah me too same over here
Hey Brittney, I would really like to know your opinions on the no shampoo movement; is it total bs or does it have merit?. Great vid! Always enjoy the vibes you give off:)
Keratin treatments are God’s gift! They are amazing! I’ve been doing them for over 2 years. Best thing I ever did for my hair! 😀
Aly Louisa what brand do you use x
Out of all the brands that you mentioned , which one have you liked the most and find gives the best results
What bra do you use? Lol I neeed 😂
Faith680 omg sameee
Faith680 I was thinking the same
Right there was no jiggle or sag or anything. I need this bra in my life
Thank you for this I really want to have a Keratin treatment done.
Can you talk about bangs for curly hair, and if keratin treatment can play a role in that? Please
Meagan Collins If you wanna wear your hair naturally curly, you can't really do a keratin treatment
Nico Marquardt that's what I was worried about, thanks

can you do a video like this on japanese straightening treatment? or do you have one already & im just not looking hard enough
Amanda Pinder I wanna know about that too ! I’ve been getting relaxers since I was a lil girl and I want the most healthiest method possible
I'd suggest you watch Jun&Rachels channel. They have a neat demo on how it looks. Very neat

I’m a hairstylist and I feel brazilian blowouts or pure brazilian (same process) are the best for any hair type.
I just adjust times I flat iron to give different results to different hair types.
Thank you so much for this video!

No! Theyre the best for your hair, honestly it will do your hair the world of good! Its an amazing protein packed treatment for your hair. :)

If you keep doin it by a pro its great. If you stop doin it your hair usually becomes dry, not shiny, frizzy and you get split ends..

On the plus side it does work while it is still in and less damage than regular use of straighteners...
I did relaxing and then keratin twice.. i had 3c hair . It really ruined my hair and now my curl pattern is all over the place.
Gabbie Salgado relaxing 3c hair? Oof i couldn’t
Clorox Bleach back then all I wanted was silky straight hair.. today I would NEVER do it
Omg relaxing did us all dirty back in the day😭 so glad u learned to love ur curls
3c is the perfect curl! You’ve just got to get some moisture back in your hair
eener lll i just has big chop, I think I finally got rid of all of the damaged hair! Now i wanna hydration treatment.
Do you have recommendations on which hair salon to go to depending on which state you’re in? And by the way I love your videos, thanks so much for everything you put into them.
Hey Brittney, I have really kinky curly hair and I'm so fed up with it, what's a better option a keratin or relaxer?
I literally had no idea i had any interest in half of the super in depth hairstylist stuff you post, but honestly your opinion shines through so much that you make me interested 😹😘
Just got my first keratin treatment yesterday and I'm loving the results so far. What shampoo/conditioner do you recommend as after care?
keratin was awesome when i lived in humid weather! takes all the frizz away. now i live somewhere with drier weather (and a lot of pollution), and i feel like my hair needs are very different.
Can you do a video on dandruff? Love your videos, thanks!
What would you do if you had Jewish like spiral curls. Brazilian or Keratin? I'm going for the look of beachy waves.
What are the negative sides does it ruin your hair? People say it’s safe but is it really tea
I sent you an email months ago about booking a keratin treatment. I’m glad you did this video-super informative.

Can u help me get rid of dandruff? I’ve been trying a lot of remedies but nothing works. If not, then can u make a video in how to properly wash your hair?
(I’m very desperate 😂)
I have 2 videos on dandruff. Find them in my "hair" playlist
I don’t know how I lived without a keratin treatment before! My hair is the definition of unruly, and because it’s coarse and thick, I have absolutely no patience to style it.
Question for you...what are some of your favorite cream lighteners for application by the scalp?
could you do a video on ones like season based on skin tone, hair color and eye color?
What about Keratin shampoos? Can they be used on a regular basis just like any other shampoo?
I have really straight light hair. What would be the best treatment to make my hair shiny and healthy?
How can you remove a Brazilian blowout ? I got a keratin one and I’m over it I want my curls back 😭😭😭 any tips ???
So is a kertain treatment going to change the curl pattern of your hair?
Is a keratin Masque necessary step during a Personlized blow out?
hi brit! it's good for pore, prone to tangled hair?
My hairstylist once told me that the keratin treatment can really damage your hair. For example if you did it to get rid of the frizziness, than once it's out of your hair, your hair will become even more frizzy, and that's how you can't get rid of redoing this procedure over and over again to keep your hair looking good. Is this true?
Dansy D it depends on the level of heat and number of passes your stylist chooses to use on you during the treatment. Too high, and you’ll burn hair just like you would without the the treatment on the strand. :)
What keratin treatment / brand would you recommend someone with 4c hair ? x
Brittney is giving me badass pirate vibes and I love it, that shirt is bomb👌🏽
What's the difference between botox treatment and keratin treatment?
literally laughed out loud at "make that coint" you are so my friend in my head!! love you!!!
SHARE YO SKINCARE ROUTINE W US SIS LOOK AT THAT GLOWWWW
Is it safe to get one on highlighted hair as long as the hair is healthy?
My hair is very fine (though, I'm told I have a lot of it). I have extreme anemia (I am on iron supplements). I feel the anemia is causing my hair to fall out more rapidly, break more easily, and become quite frizzy. If I run my nails down s strand, it will curl up like a corkscrew. Will a keratin treatment help until my iron has increased?
Did you try it? I bet olaplex would be good for you as I have fine hair and it's really great.
I have naturally straight hair have been growing it for three years and length hasn't changed since i get and breakage will I be a candidate for a keratin treatment
What should i use if i flat iron my hair how many times a week can i use a flat iron and what is good for holding down all the little hairs
Hi brittney does a keratin treatment remove grey fashion color from bleached hair and does i gets it brassy plz help thanks
Can it be used to put some curls in hair vs straight flat iron?
What about hair Botox, is it safe on color treated hair, will my wavy hair come back?
Hi Brit
Is it ok to Dye your hair on top of a keratin treatment ?
Jacks from London xx
Jackie Walrond yes, you just have to wait 2-3 weeks
You can. But it makes the keratin wear off some. I normally dye or highlight my hair before I get my keratin done. So it’s fresh and I don’t have to do it for awhile. But be warned the keratin may strip the hair a shade.
Aww you forgot to put in the snaps of the color correction on your cousin
I want to see another salon color/style video :-)
Dante Velasquez i agree❤💚💜💙
Can you do a review on oribe review? How to take care of bleached hair hair care routine?
What is the colour of your hair I love it. I have a simular shade of green eyes. So really wanting a color like your x
I love your style! How do you dress at the salon? I’m a hairstylist and it’s been hard for me to find my work style.
Hii Brittney! I have a question. You mentioned you can get a keratin treatment every 2-6 months depending on the strength. I have 4c hair, if I get a keratin treatment can I do a touch up on my new growth after 10 weeks?
Also my hair is relaxed, Is it safe to do a keratin treatment on relaxed hair?
thank you for this,
i was looking for a video on this from someone i trust and finally i’ve
found one :)
Stress can cause it too
Omg, I got this notification post as I'm doing my first keratin treatment in beauty school!
Saw the color correction result on Insta stories ♥️♥️♥️♥️
giiiiiirrrllll... talk about botox for hair, whats this thing ive used it hair seems nice but i cant understand well
I want to get one done, my hair is frizzy and hard to manage but I don't wanna lose my curl pattern
You wont :) Its amazing, it simply smooths the curls but keeps the curl pattern
I have curly hair and get the treatments, it keeps the curls but just smoothes them :) So its less unruly
