I had to rewatch this because I feel like that onision guy watched this too, got this knowledge and then decided to flip everything to make a controversial video for views.
I have very straight hair and I wash it once a week. In high school and university days I washed it every other day and it was awful. It got oily and greasy the next day after I washed it, it was dry and coarse to the touch. Then I just decided to postpone my hair wash for one day. A few weeks later - postponed it for one more day. And one more, and one more, and one more... Now I wash once a week, as said above. And my hair feels healthier and much softer. It's not dry, it's silky to the touch. It doesn't seem to be super oily even on the wash day. And I started to air dry it wich is just super convenient. Tbh, washing it once a week and air drying is just perfect for lazy people like me.
I’m with you. I agree with the gradual approach. I also found that I can grow my hair much longer since the ends stay healthy without the excessive washing and dryness.
I wash max twice a week, brush my hair every other day, and I'm golden. I have very straight, fine hair, and frankly i don't care. My hair hasn't seen dye in 2 years, it's up in a bun 3/7 days, and my hair has never been healthier. If I find the ends are dry I run a bit of leave in conditioner through the ends but otherwise I employ the "leave it the hell alone" approach. Cheers to lazy hair people!
It's good you identified that there is diversity in hair textures all over the world, I'm Asian, Filipino specifically, and I have 3a curly hair, my dad 3a 3bish, and my sister's natural texture is coarse. Obviously most Asians do have straight hair but typically the countries closer to the equator, specifically the natives will have a curly, kinky texture, and the Philippines is near the equator. Those Filipinos with curly, coarse hair are (for the most part) not mixed, these are features that are natural to the climate. Asians are not a monolith. I know that she established that, just thought I elaborate bc ppl in general (not her) are annoying af with their assumptions. Great video!
I have extremely curly, frizzy, dry hair and I only wash my hair once a week and sometimes once every two weeks (but that's only when I'm either super sick or being super lazy, it takes a long ass time for my hair to look noticeably gross so I can easily get away with that, I just don't like waiting that long personally) I remember one time when I was a teenager some girl said it was SOOOOO DISGUSTING that I didn't wash my hair everyday, and I was like BITCH TOUCH MY SOFT AF HAIR! DOES THAT FEEL DIRTY TO YOU?? DOES IT SMELL DIRTY TO YOU?? NO? OK THEN
devsox1 I can do once a week but my hair is locked so I do it when it gets itchy up to every 3 days. As a loose natural is was every 2 weeks unless it was itchy.
I’ve been washing my hair the exact same way nice I was a little girl. Every time I get my hair cut the hair dresser will tell me my hair is sooooo healthy. My hair is silky and smooth all the time. My secret lol...is I wash my hair everyday. It’s not troublesome at all. But I take a shower at the END my work days not before...so I just sit around my house with a wet head until it dries and then I’ll go to bed. No drying or styling for the most part, unless I have to go somewhere. My hair is pin straight. If I go one day without washing it, it’s grotesque, by the end of that day I would have so much oil built up you could see it. Like you said the oil travels so much faster. It’s so nasty lol. But I’m okay with having clean hair everyday.
Amanda Thompson girl that’s not a secret. That works for you congratulations but if most people washed there hair everyday it would loook like pure shit. You really out here trying to act like you got some top secret info😂😂😂😂
I've been doing hair for 10 years. I'm a cosmetologist that works at a high end salon that loves to learn and grow. My secret if you are supposed to wash your hair everyday or not? You are ALL right. What works for one, does NOT work for all. There are so many verifiables with hair. So many types & conditions & situations. Some people HAVE to wash there hair everyday. And believe it or not, there hair is super healthy. Other people can get away with every other day and others go a week or even 2 weeks without a single shampoo. So yes, all different conditions and types.
Did yall not listen to the video? Some cases, it is ok to wash hair every day. Straight, fine hair is one of the exceptions. Her hair could be long. Mine is the same way. Oil travels faster. If you say any different, you're a fuckin idiot.
@@amandakaricunningham4116 I have pretty straight hair, I have a few "waves", or barely waves...in the back of my head. But I do have fairly thick hair and I also have hair extensions...it's a project to wash (and then blow dry, and style) your hair when you have long hair haha! Like I have to put every wash day in my schedule hahah...takes so much time from first to last step, and it's so boring...I don't understand either how people even have the energy to wash it everyday, maybe if it's really short then yes but otherwise no. I have a friend that washes her hair everyday AND deep conditions it everyday after she washes it, so a hair mask EVERY DAY. And then style it. She should get the Noble price for that (kidding)...:) I told her to stop wash it everyday and that you don't need to use a hair mask every day, oh well if she wants to it's up to her but yeah... I wash my hair 1-2 times a week (almost said year, that would be a little too much to not wash it hahaha), and I still have anxiety every time it's time to wash it. My hair never looks greasy, even if I haven't washed it in a week.
@@LadyLoin Yea ur friend should get a Nobel Prize🥇 Lol🤣 and I don't have the energy either. Like u said it's a process my hair is curly and I always straighten it bc I feel like it makes me look better. lol I use my trusty dry shampoo and wash my hair on Sundays.
I was taught by my parents that when you shampoo your hair, you shampoo all of it. Same with conditioner. My stylist told me one day that I should only shampoo the scalp. And put conditioner on the mid-shaft to the ends. Leave conditioner off the scalp and you can go longer between washes. This has changed my life. My hair has never been better. Oops forgot to mention I wash every week and a half. My hair is wavy/straight, fine, and long.
I wash my hair twice a week (sometimes just once if I don't need to leave the house lol) and that's already so much work for me ugh i don't know how people do it every single day
Nice Video! Sorry for butting in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you thought about - Millawdon Goodbye Gray Trick (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is a smashing exclusive product for learning how to reverse gray hair fast without the normal expense. Ive heard some super things about it and my old buddy Taylor finally got excellent success with it.
Thank you for educating us about hair-washing! I am Japanese-American and I have super-straight, course hair. I was told all of my life that it's bad to wash my hair every day but I struggled with that rule because even if I go a day without washing my hair, it gets so oily and it feels "gross." When I go to Japan, I see that more people tend to wash their hair everyday than Westerners.
I’ve been natural for almost 10 years now. I wash once a week and tend to wear a wash and go. 3c/4a texture. Because my hair gets so dry, once a week is best for my hair. It is a lot of work, but when straight, my hair is almost to my waist, so wearing it natural is definitely easier than washing, blow drying and flat ironing. I don’t have the patience or arm strength for that. 😂
I have very straight, naturally oily hair! I'm half Italian, half European, but I definitely got my mom's hair (Italian side). My hair used to be so incredibly annoying to deal with. I had to wash it at least every other day if not every day. Now that I've processed my hair a bit with bleach and dyes, my hair is much easier to deal with! I went from washing it almost every day to washing it every 3-5 days. I hop out of the shower, put in some leave in conditioner, and let it air dry. I never, ever use heat unless I absolutely have to. I love what you are doing on this channel, btw. People need this information, and you are definitely delivering. Keep at it, girl. Much love!
^the shampoo is not good, the conditioner from that line is a joke but the clay mask is a god send. if it made your scalp dry maybe you don't have really oily hair to begin with.
Im soo happy you commented on the fact black people don't need to wash their hair everyday. When I was younger a..girl with fine hair said i was dirty because i washed my hair every two-weeks. We have grown alot when it comes to health with black hair. 💚😻
I have super straight, fine hair, that’s naturally blonde. I’ve never dyed it. For the most part I’m an every day washer. Air dryer. I’ve tried dry shampoo and it ends up feeling more dirty to me. 🤷🏼♀️
Nikki I think you'd like Batiste dry shampoo for blond hair. I'm not naturally blonde but that is the only dry shampoo I've ever used that works wonders!! It's truly amazing!! ❤❤❤
OMG I was asking my husband the other day if he remembered folding paper the hotdog way or the hamburger way and he had no idea what I was talking about LOL. Its nice someone knows about that too 😂
I'm half white and half black but my dad is white and he raised me he had no idea wtf to do with my hair. growing up was rough. Before entering middle school I had to chop it off and wear braids w/ hair and by then I was old enough to take care of my hair. He was at such a loss when it came to my hair. before then i would wear it half up half down in "buns" which were just twpo big knots/. So embarrassing
I strive to wash every 2-3 days but sometimes I fall back into washing it everyday when my routine gets messed up. Right now I’m trying some new products out. I’ve noticed my hair (straight & fine) is breaking more often and my scalp seems to be breaking out. So I’m very slowly working towards a more gentle shampoo. I’ve used castile soap and even though it’s a lot more work, it seems to do well. I’ll be mixing it with coconut milk here soon to see if that helps the texture to feel healthier
I use Castile soap on my hair too!! (baby unscented) along with Apple cider vinegar (Braggs, raw 5%) and it has made such a HUGE improvement on my scalp! I used to have nasty dandruff and other scalp issues but it's pretty much all cleared up. I do agree that Castile soap is a lot more work but if you add ACV to the mix (as a conditioner) it makes it so much more manageable. I use ACV on the top of my head/scalp and regular conditioner on my ends and it's transformed my hair and scalp. Good luck on your hair journey!!
devsox1 yea I learned the hard way that apple cider vinegar is specifically the way to go. I tried using regular distilled white and my hair was super dry at the ends. I’m trying to get through the last of my old shampoo before I only use the castile soap. I’ve been using it on my face as a face wash for a week and love that it doesn’t absolutely strip my skin. It’s pretty cool stuff
I have straight hair and I wash my hair every other day. I massage my shampoo into just my scalp then I put conditioner on only the bottom half of my hair and I run my fingers through it to get out tangles. Afterwards I just let my hair air dry.
I have this problem too. For a while, if I did have to wash it I would use Head & Shoulders with pyrithione zinc. I found that even one wash with it would help prevent bacteria from growing and itchy scalp for a few days. Because it kind of dries out my hair, I'd be able to let it grease up for a few days longer, and eventually I switched back to a sulfate free shampoo. It works well enough for now, but every once in a while the itchiness returns if it gets too oily.
After 3 days I just wash it if my scalp get itchy. Its sweat and product buildup and it's just time to wash it. You wouldn't go 3 days without showering and your scalp is no different from other parts of your body.
Dandruff shampoo has been a great improvement on the texture of my hair. It stays shiny and smooth with conditioner on the ends and head and shoulders just on the scalp.
Your curls are so gorgeous, I hope one day you can go back natural!! I Have 3b, fine curls, and pretty porous as well because I still have some heat damage from years of constant heat styling. I stopped using heat completely last year October though, and I am trimming off my damage as required. This natural thing is so much work for real. But I'm grateful for the experience because I'm learning so much about my hair now, and also learning to love my hair, which is such a refreshing feeling considering I absolutely resented my hair, but only because I just didn't understand how to maintain it. I wash my hair every 5-7 days, really depends on how much product buildup I have, due to all the conditioners and styling products I need to hydrate my hair throughout the week. I do use a Sulfate free Shampoo and deep condition with every wash, so my hair has been recovering really well. I'm still perfecting my regimen, but my journey is really going well. Thanks for all the tips you give!!!!
I have straight/wavy hair and my hair stylist always tells me that it's super fine. It gets pretty greasy over the course of the day so I wash everyday. I usually just let it either air dry or I'll just dry it halfway on the medium temperature setting. I've tried going longer without washing but the feeling of my hair just ends up grossing me out and I feel a lot more confident when it's clean :)
Great video!! I have wavy/curly hair and I when I wear it natural, I wash it every 2-3 days because I typically have to put some product in it. If I blow it dry and style it I can make that last 5-7 days. Sometimes I use a cowash, sometimes I use a sulfate free shampoo and every once in a while I use anti residue buildup shampoo. I just try to give my hair what it needs!
I have naturally coarse wavy/curly hair and I cowash once a week with the as I am coconut cowash (the absolute best nourishing cleanser I've found). I usually wear a braid out for the first few days after I wash and then wear it up in buns, braids, etc. for the rest of the week. Thank you for addressing the complexity in hair textures!! I am white but I'm the only person in my family with remotely textured hair and often get asked if I'm mixed. I've had to learn to deal with my own hair as well and videos like these are really helpful and informative.
Guuurl, im europian and i have sooo straight hair that back in the hihgschool no bitch believed me when i said i dont even have a straightener in my house, they thought that i just lie for attention 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ also it holds curl soo bad, went to a hair dresser in my graduation day for those gorgeous curls, she used a ton of fixator, that big dryer, hair rolls , i was there for 2 hours and literally the moment i was driving to school (15min) it al straightened and looked like shiny pasta 😂😂😂 no even need to mention that i have to wash it every two days because if i dont i look like a heroin addict
The problem is a vicious cycle because washing too regularly will stimulate your sebaceous glands which will produce more sebum aka oil. There are oily scalps that are self induced, others that are physiological, hormonal, genetic and people tend to self diagnose and just assume "it's oily so I have to wash it everyday..."
I have fine, straight hair. I wash every other night. I stopped using heat on my hair almost two years ago (I still use heat on special occasions about twice a year). Because I stopped using heat, I don't blow dry. Instead I use a Turbie Twist and wrap my hair for as long as possible before I go to bed and then sleep on it damp. In the morning I brush my hair and add some oil to the ends (either coconut oil, vitamin e oil, or argan oil) and then it's ready to go. My roots get very greasy, but my ends are very dry so I'm constantly adding oil to my ends to keep them as hydrated as the roots. And I have to trim often to avoid split ends.
My hairdresser told me that in contrast to what most people think it's not good for the hair to leave it wet for too long. If it doesn't dry soon without blowdrying then you should blowdry it. It's about the hair surface. She said it stays like open when you don't blowdry it and so the inside gets damaged. I don't know if that makes sense? But my hair really improved when I stopped airdrying it and started blowdrying with low temperature.
That makes sense. My hair is so fine, though, that it can dry within an hour if I let it air dry. And most of the time I have it up in my Turbie Twist to keep it protected.
I am half black and half white, and my hair texture is in between black and caucasian. Like smack dab in the middle. My hair is also super curly (some people unknowingly think I have a perm), and I only wash it once a week. I find that my scalp is the only thing that gets oily, and the oil just takes so long to make it downwards since my hair is just so curly. Usually I wet my hair everyday to make it easier to comb with my wide tooth comb when I'm detangling. When I do this process it help to distribute my natural oils from my scalp down my hair shafts to keep it moisturized and healthy. I've been doing this for years, and I've always wondering if it is unhealthy to comb my hair while wet.
In Japan, which is where I live, it is a must to wash our hair everyday. Therefore I used to wash them everyday until I moved to Australia. After going there, I learnt that we shouldn't wash our hair everyday and there were also options for dry shampoos so I tried to not wash my hair everyday . BUT I don't if it's because I've washed my hair everyday for a long time, even if it's just a day without washing my hair it looks really really oily.... do you think it's because of the shampoo im using??
No, it could just be your hair texture. As long as you keep your ends trimmed and they are not split and dehydrated, if daily washing works for you then keep it up.
In personal experience, the shampoo and conditioner make a difference. There are shampoos made for oily hair (just like products for oily skin, dry skin etc). I used to wash it every day and when my hairdresser said to stop. I wash it every other day, for example, I wash it on Sunday and then Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday,Monday, you see? :p hope I could help.
i have mixed hair, egyptian/caucasian, like a 3ab curl, thick strands. i wash about every 5-10 days, depending on the weather & my schedule. my wash days look like:- finger comb with oil & let sit in a bun- no-poo wash & detangle with wide tooth comb- finish with cold water - squeeze out- t-shirt turban- finish with a little oil & air dry(let me know what you think/what i could do better. i have been told to use some shampoo to wash build-up out, but i don't have build-up b/c the oils absorb)
I want to know this too. I was using a sulfate-free shampoo which I thought was the best, but apparently it's full of silicones which is somehow even worse? I don't know anymore lol.
OH goodness. I didn’t even notice it until recently, but silicones were ruining my hair! I switched to a brand that doesn’t have any of that stuff in it and my hair has been healing and growing out beautifully.
Didn’t work for me. I’ve worked at one for 6 months, so my hair has had plenty of time to get used to 2 or 3 shampoos a week. It still gets oily and takes on a weird shape the day after washing. If I go out in public w/o a hat, I have to wash it.
I have washed my hair every day for a long time. I know I should try to do it every couple of days instead but the oil is so noticeable on my bangs by the end of the day! The bun trick wouldn't work for my because of my bangs but I'm gonna try out some dry shampoo to help.
catfeet I think you need to do what's right for your hair and scalp. I know a ton of people, including myself, who never had scalp problems until they tried to copy some of the big youtubers who say they wash their hair only once a week. And I have never found dry shampoos to actually clean my scalp.
Hey if you haven't already, try washing only your bangs in the sink in between washings. And also it works to have a separate comb free of oils and conditioners for brushing and styling bangs. Worked nicely for me!
What is your opinion about the Mason Pearson nylon and boar bristle brush? Is it worth the money? Does it actually help redistribute the oils throughout your hair?
I wash my hair about 2-3 times a week ( it depends if I work out a lot ) and I let it airdry after putting mousse in it. I have about inbetween a 3b and 3c hair type and this works very well for me. My hair is very healthy and I nearly never use any heat on it 💕
I have very thick straight hair and wash it once or twice a week. When I used to wash it more often than twice a week the length of it would get so dry and it would knot up like crazy. I usually put in a leave in treatment and air dry it. My mom has very fine straight hair and washes it every other day. She always likes to blow dry it because otherwise she says it gets super frizzy.
Brittney your story at the end where you suggest the idea of a mom with straight hair trying to care for her daughter's curly hair being the reason you're a hairdresser was so sweet. I know it was just a short anecdote but that seemed really meaningful and precious
I'm glad you made this video. It has a lot of really helpful information. I have thick kinda wavy/ kinda straight hair that I've never dyed and rarely use heat on. I typically wash it every 3-4 days, and if I don't have to go out I try to stretch it a little longer. My hair is getting really long, so I want to find a way to get it moisturized without leaving my scalp too greasy. I'm thinking of trying oil treatments. Would that help?
Your hair is beautiful and I was wondering how often you straighten your hair and how you keep it healthy. Has straightening your hair caused a change in your curl pattern?
Hair washing also goes with climate. I'm Asian and I have long, medium-fine, straight hair and when I lived in San Diego I washed my hair every 2-3 days. NEVER felt greasy (I mean, maybe on day 3) Now I live in Taipei where there's a really humid climate all the time and I have to wash my hair every 2 days, and at 1.5 days I'm feeling the grease D: I was wondering if always wearing a ponytail is bad for hair. I have heard that it causes breakage where you always tie it, and that it dries out your ends (by way of preventing oils from travelling from scalp to tips) T/F? Also when I went to a hairdresser they told me that I have a weird hairline because I always pull my hair back into a ponytail.
I'm sitting here in my shirt plop lol no judgement, it's wash day! I wash once a week but if your hair needs it every day or every two-three days then do it. It's your hair 💖 OH! I use cocoa powder between washes. I smell like a cookie 🍪 hehehe OMFG your curls are GORGE!!! I cowash, no sulphate or silicones CG method and diffuse dry (takes 12hrs to air dry!) on cold setting until almost dry.
Hi Brittney! Can you go over how to maintain your hair between washes if you sweat a lot at gym? I'm not sure if I should wash my hair more often because I sweat quite a bit during my workouts. Thanks Brittney!
mixed asian girl here, wavy hair, and i have to wash everyday. not bc its greasy but i get soo itchy and dandruffy, and yucky after 24hrs of not washing. i think its psoriasis. i wish i could go a week w/o washing bc i would hate to blow it dry, straighten/style and know itll only last for a day.
are you a am or pm washer? i normally wash at night and i'll admit sometimes im so tired i just go bed and my hair is still damp. i wonder if it just overgrowth of yeast from doing that.
I am also half Asian. I had the same problem. I took the probiotic that Rhonda Patrick recommends (for other reasons) for three weeks and completely resolved my dandruff..... so weird!
I have pretty coarse hair. I am Korean and Native American, also Irish. I would say my hair is more on the Native/Asian side. It was pin straight when I was a little girl. It got frizzy and crazy through puberty. Now, my hair is wavy and if it gets too long/heavy, it will spiral at the ends. Oh, it is also very thick. I wash my hair every two days or every other day, depending on my shampoo. I use Whole Blends and I switch up the "flavor" here and there. I always use the legendary olive oil leave in conditioner. Without it, my scalp is always a little flakey no matter what. That stuff is the best thing ever for my hair. I had virgin hair and recently dyed it with arctic fox. No bleach. It is doing well. I always air dry my hair, any heat makes my scalp dry. Salons hate me because I never let them dry my hair after a cut. I think they want to see their finished project or they think me leaving with wet hair makes them look some type of way to the pedestrians. Unsure, but that is my piece. I just wanted to say that you are amazing and the actress that plays Sasha in the live person Bratz movie looks just like you (to me). You are both gorgeous.
I always felt like my hair wasn't in any category. It's wavy, the hair strand is quite thick but also soft and healty (since I don't color treat it and I don't put much heat to it) but it's incredibly grasy!! Two days without washing it is my actual limit and I can't go out in public... my friend on the other hand has naturally blonde, fine and pin straight hair but she washes it every 4 days! How is it?? What am I doing wrong??
Soraya Vinciguerra Im extremely late but genetics and hair type also play a major role in how greasy you hair gets. Some people just naturally produce more oil and grease than others and have to wash their hair more often, so you aren't really doing anything wrong.
washing it everyday could be the cause. the scalp is stripped and overproduces oil which can cause dandruff, dandruff are clusters of oil. not washing everyday would help the scalp balance out and not produce so much oil, thus preventing those clusters a.k.a dandruff.
I'm so glad I found your channel. After watching your vid about, "What hairdressers wish you knew", I subbed. Loved the exchange between you and your man at the end. That was so funny. Your vids answer so many random questions I have had forever about hair stuff. Thank you so much for sharing your extensive knowledge! Also, I just wanted to say that you have a very professional video presence and do such a great job. You're not too loud, you don't have annoying background music and your videos are a pleasure to watch.
I realize you are not a dermatologist BUT maybe you have some tips on dermatitis? I have always struggled with very itchy dry scalp in my cradle. I keep my hair short so I can get to it easily but it is embarrassing to deal with because people think its dandruff when its not.
maybe try fragrance free shampoo and conditioner. I have eczema and I have to use unscented soap, detergent, and lotion. So maybe scalp issues are similar.
Best Friend In Your Thread as a pixie headed girl, I understand this struggle. What I did to treat mine was mix coconut oil, castor oil, and almond oil, as well as tea tree essential oil, warm it up a little in the microwave, and then cover my head with it and leave it for 2-10 hours (I usually just sleep in it.) I do this twice a month and it's completely cleared up the flakes and made my hair look thicker and healthier. Tea tree treats the flakes and the oils help make my head not so itchy
I used to use coconut oil but I found that it is so heavy and I need to wash my hair like a million times before it comes out so I switched to sweet almond oil and is so much better!!
Just curious, when you wait that long to wash your hair, what do you do about all the sweat that is in your scalp/hair? Everyone sweats every day even if you don’t workout, you’re perspiring throughout the day.
how can you not shower without wetting your hair? do your showers only have the shower head attached from above? i am just curious because the shower heads we use can be moved so we don't even need a cap to protect the hair from water
when i lived back home in europe i had that hose thing so i mostly washed my hair on a differnt day and time than when showering, but here in canada our apartment has the one from above so i just put my hair in a bun when i shower and tilt my head to not get it wet.
In Los angeles we are not allowed to have certain types of shower heads (due to the drought they were deemed illegal) , they have actually been banned from the stores. If your renting an apartment you might not have those types of shower heads. Vendors are not even allowed to ship them to us.. (i tired lol )
thats so strict.but considering the drought i kinda understand. i actually prefer the hose one cus im used to turning the water off when im about to shampoo myself xD
Gotta say I love you for being so real and down to Earth ! I just subscribed and can’t wait to just sit down and watch ALL of your videos ! Great job girl ! Keep up the good work XO
I have 2C-3a hair (mostly big spiral curls with a few defined waves) and I wash my hair about every 4 days. I low poo, condition, put a quarter size curl activator and then some gel in my hair. I will plop my hair for 20 minutes before finishing it with a diffuser. I have been deep conditioning once a week as well. I love that you explained the difference between straight and curly hair. Not everyone understands that if I washed my hair every day it would feel like straw. My hair was pin drop straight until I turned 19 and it decided to curl on me. While I sometimes miss the low maintenance of my straight hair, I have come to adore the volume and uniqueness of my crazy mane.
I appreciate this video because I think it’s clear that most of your clients, or people who watch your videos, aren’t black. So they’re pretty “ignorant” when it comes to black/mixed hair and understanding why I can go one to two weeks without washing my hair. Most black/mixed people can’t explain why it wouldn’t be good for our hair, they just know they’d probably be bald if they did lol
I'm Indian and my hair is wavy to curly. Thickness and density are medium. I wash my hair once a week or every 5 days. Before washing it, I apply either amla oil or neem-infused coconut oil and leave it in for about 30 to 60 minutes. I apply a small amount only. Massage it into the roots and allow that to spread along the shaft of the hair. After washing, I either wrap my hair or blow dry it depending on my mood and schedule. If I am blow drying it, I let it air dry to about 50/60 % dry and then use a paddle brush to blow dry it. Then I flat iron my hair since I have an A-line bob and I like it sleek. I use heat protectant and then a serum to finish the styling. No other styling products used.
I’m new here but, I really appreciate this video so, Thank You!!😊 You mentioned that some clients come in thinking they’re hair is oily but, it’s actually not… Could you please elaborate or explain the difference or how we can to determine the difference??? Btw, i have your typical Asian hair type. If I use heavy products in my hair, daily, would you still recommend washing it only every 2-3 days? TYSM❤️ Also, you’re BEAUTIFUL!!🤗
I wash my hair once a week too! Deep condition on that day and put some type of oil , usually coconut, jojoba, castor or almond . Sometimes all together, put a plastic cap on and leave it in a few hours. Sometimes sit 15 min under the hair dryer. I usually rollerset my hair and sit under the dryer or just let it air dry . Sometimes blow dry. I hope you do a roller setting video. I know you had one when you were in school, you were rollersettting on a mannequin head. That’s where I learned about over directing the hair 🙂👍
QUESTION!! I’m trying to get my natural curly hair back after YEARS of heat damage. I haven’t put heat on it for a few months now, but sometimes the maintenance is a lot. So, if I straightened my hair and left it that way for a week or so would it completely reverse any results I’ve gotten? Because I do already notice a difference in my natural hair being more spirally and don’t want to ruin it.
What do you recommend for those of us that have sensitive scalps and curly dry hair? I like to workout about 5-6 times a week, and if I don’t shampoo the sweat from my scalp, then I get a red, itchy scalp, along with a ton on dandruff! It seems as if I HAVE to shampoo everyday, despite having curly dry hair. Any suggestions? 😓
Apple cider vinegar!!! But make sure you get the right kind! I recommend the brand Braggs (can be found in most grocery stores or amazon) and it HAS to say "with the mother 5%" on it or it won't work at all. I use a spray bottle and just spray it all over my head/scalp and it works wonder for the scalp and also makes your hair super duper soft and nice. And the smell goes away after your hair dries :) Also Dr Bronners baby unscented Castile soap. It's SUPER gentle so won't irritate your scalp. It may make your hair feel greasy while your washing it but once again, once your hair is dry, the greasy feeling goes away
Areli Gonzalez I have similar issues, and I wash with conditioner daily and shampoo about twice a week. That way I can get rid of the buildup without stripping away moisture. It may also be worth visiting a dermatologist to see what the root cause of your scalp problem is. It could be something like eczema or psoriasis, which may require a prescription treatment.
you don´t even have to use ACV, just wash them with cold water, the sweat you produce during working out is water soluble (whereas sebum is not) so if you just wash it cold afterwards, you will still have to wash it, but your hair will not be as dry. I love doing that after a workout to end with a cold shower anyway, so it´s very convenient to cool myself down. Hope htis helps!
You can try “ fake washing” you just get in the shower and use only water to massage your scalp then condition. When you get out apply tea tree oil to your scalp to sooth it. Worth a try. Tea tree will help with dandruff.
I also have very curly hair & I definitely recommend using the Neutrogena T/Gel Therapeutic shampoo. First time I used it reduced my dandruff significantly. Been using it for years now. Would recommend using a gentle/moisturizing shampoo after you wash it out, since you're focusing the product mostly on the scalp anyways.
I have pretty fine, thin, straight hair and when I can handle it I wash it about every 2 days. Whenever the ends of my hair are really healthy I end up washing my hair every other day because some of the products I use I find make the ends heavy and make my hair look thinner than it is. However when I ombred my hair I was able to braid my hair before going to bed and use dry shampoo and I could go about 3 or 4 days without washing my hair. I find if the ends of my hair are a little roughed up my hair will stay looking fuller longer. Sea salt spray helps my hair a lot as well (:
I wash my hair 2x a week! Such a difference from high school days where I used to wash/blow dry/straighten my hair every day 😫 Now I wash my hair mostly Wednesdays and Sundays, and deep condition on both days. I started using Olaplex no3 about two weeks ago after getting my hair colored. I usually do that on Sundays before washing/masking. Thanks for this informative video Brittney!! 💞
Awesome video, thanks! I wash my hair (a bit wavy and thick texture) once a week or week and a half. In between I do rinse it with water and massage it. I wash it before bed time, leave it in a towel for a little while and go to bed with humid hair. I find this to be the best way my hair looks and feels (I stopped blow drying years ago). I also love putting coconut oil on the ends sometimes and I use only the most chemical free stuff (like Morocco Method, Onekaelements etc) or simply use herbs. What do you think of dry shampoo?
washing my hair on monday morning, tuesday afternoon its too greacy! I wake up tuesday with weird crowns on my hair that i cant tame... especially when greacy!!! Dry shampoo makes it even worse! And dont get me started on my baby hairs that defy gravity and next to my ears sticking straight out with a curl (i have straight hair!) that make me look like I escaped an asylum ....... I used to wash my hair every day because styling my hair wet and clean gets me a better result. im trying to wash my hair every 2/3 days but on day 2 im already embarrassed. I work with kids and im not aloud hats on the workplace.
Also when the steam in the shower gets to my baby hairs on days that i dont wash - They get curly and crazy!!!! straightening the babyhairs makes it worse.
I feel you soo much!! I haaate dry schampoo it just gets frizzy and puffy and disgusting, I wash every other day but sometimes I ”treat myself” and wash it every day 🙈
Your hair is used to you washing your hair so often, that's why it becomes oily so fast. You have to train your hair to stretch out wash times. I used to have to wash mine daily. I swapped to every two days, the three and so on until I was washing once a week and I no longer have the oily hair everyday problem.
I have long slightly wavy hair and my roots tend to get oily after 3 days although the rest of the hair seems to go drier as the days go by. I wash my hair once a week so I usually use baby powder instead of a dry shampoo when I need to. I haven't found any dry shampoo to satisfy me as the most of them don't absorb the oil and they irritate/tickle my scalp so I always buy baby powder, especially the ones without any strong smell (otherwise I will smell like a baby haha). Brittney, do you know any good dry shampoo? On daily basis, I apply the Aussie oil on the ends of my hair to keep them moisturized and healthy looking :)
That explains why my hair gets greasy after 1 week of having my hair straightened BUT when I keep my hair natural which is curly it doesn't get greasy before 2 weeks
I wash every 3-4 days. And I have fine hair, but a lot of it. I do get my hair colored so the ends can be very dry. If I plan on curling my hair I try to let it air dry (I add Briogeo Rosarco Milk and Redken Extreme Anti-snap). If I blow dry, I use the above two products plus KMS Quick Blow Dry. I also use dry shampoo every evening to help combat oil - my fave is the Hask Volumizing spray. I use a clarifying shampoo every other time I wash - Briogeo Scalp Revival followed by Briogeo Repair Mask. Other days I have a few different ones I switch between - AG Natural Balance Shampoo and Conditioner, Pura D'or Healing Conditioner and Scalp Therapy Shampoo.
Hi everyone! Can some of you recommend shampoos for oily scalp? I am desperate over here. And yes, I have dry shampoo, I use it in case of emergency. I have fine, straight and very soft hair.
imissmyoldchannel, it's hard to find, but I love Eufora products. If I can't get that, OGX is more common. The sea salt formula is better for oily scalp/hair, and the coconut or argan formula is good for hair that needs super moisture.
I'm Hispanic and have wavy/straight frizzy hair I wash it everyday but let it air dry I have 3 daughters my 6 yr old had extremely curly hair I wash it everyday but only condition it shampoo only 2 to 3 times a week my 12 and 11 yr old I help them wash it about twice a week because if I don't it's a tangly shit show lol but they have straight corse hair
I have 2b wavy hair, and I wash it twice a week with silicone and sulfate free shampoo + conditioners. I air dry using the plop method. I also use t-shirts to dry my hair instead of towels and I find it's cut my drying time down. My hair can sometimes take HOURS to air dry.
I really hope you make that vid going in to depth about different hair types/ethnicities. I’m Mexican and I've spend the last 2 years growing out my hair and trying to get it back to a healthy state after so many years of hair dying and heat styling. Now my hair is very curly however the last layer of my hair is fairly straight and a lil wavy. I have noticed that my hair falls out SO MUCH MORE NOW and it freaks me out. I also do tend to wash my hair too often but bc my head sweats a lot and it can sometimes get a lil stinky depending on my stress levels but this runs in my fam, my sister and most of my cousins are the same way. I've never tried co-washing but I've read go things about it. What do you think about co-washes? Would it be the same as regularly washing my hair with shampoo and conditioner or is it a better alternative to fight the stench lol
I have really thick curly hair like NBA Joakim Noah so I wash almost everyday just BC of product buildup, but not with shampoo. I shampoo about 2 times a week. In between that I Apple Cider (my fave) or Co Wash. If it will be pressed and straightened, I will shampoo and deep conditioned prior. My hair feels it's best tho with Apple Cider mixed with a little Red Wine n' water.....don't knock it till you try it lol.
LOL. Did you dilute it with water? How much did you use? You don't need to overdo it. Some people just pour it on and saturate their hair with it. That's not how you do it. Everything goes in moderation just like store product. What I do is take like 4 cap fulls and fill the bottle half way with water......rinse, then condition. The smell of the vinegar is not that great, but with that regime I do, my hair never smells like toejam afterwards-and I have a bird's nest of thick hair.
Lauri Russell if you have thick hair, it works wonders if you want to clarify for hair without the suddy dryness of shampoo, and it makes your hair feel thicker. I was nervous about it at first too, but now I luv it and it is only a buck 50.
if my roots are too oily but it isn't time for washing my hair, i skip using shampoo and just use conditioner to spread out the oil in my hair and to get the access off.
Anabel there’s a bit of a learning curve to it but I use baby powder in a salt shaker. I don’t know if it would help because the salt from your sweat might make you itchy but when I noticed my fringe/bangs getting greasy before the rest of my hair, I’d sprinkle on a little and it would last long enough till my next shampoo. My hair is dark though so it did leave a cast sometimes - definitely took some time for me to master the application (ie. use a light touch and really work it in before applying another shake).
I had to rewatch this because I feel like that onision guy watched this too, got this knowledge and then decided to flip everything to make a controversial video for views.
"How often?"
"Well, identify your type-" AMEN!! HIT THAT LIKE BUTTON!! Finally, somebody who knows that *it depends*. Thank you Brittney!
Yes! I do the exact same, it´s so nice not to bother with a blowdryer!
I’m with you. I agree with the gradual approach. I also found that I can grow my hair much longer since the ends stay healthy without the excessive washing and dryness.
Same with me and my hair. Mine is mostly straight but with a little wave, once I stopped washing it every other day it got so much healthier.
I wash once a week because I swim. but if I don’t swim it takes 2-3 weeks to get greasy. I have very straight shoulder length hair.
Exactly
Thank you 🙏🏻
I have extremely curly, frizzy, dry hair and I only wash my hair once a week and sometimes once every two weeks (but that's only when I'm either super sick or being super lazy, it takes a long ass time for my hair to look noticeably gross so I can easily get away with that, I just don't like waiting that long personally) I remember one time when I was a teenager some girl said it was SOOOOO DISGUSTING that I didn't wash my hair everyday, and I was like BITCH TOUCH MY SOFT AF HAIR! DOES THAT FEEL DIRTY TO YOU?? DOES IT SMELL DIRTY TO YOU?? NO? OK THEN
devsox1 I can do once a week but my hair is locked so I do it when it gets itchy up to every 3 days. As a loose natural is was every 2 weeks unless it was
itchy.
the most I go is 5-6 days. My hair is super thick and curly, and I flat iron it. and then wave it. It takes a loooong time to get oily.
Don't get it, you have frizzy dry hair but it's still soft?! HOW THOUGH
denise persson It gets super soft when I straighten it, plus the products I use
your hair can be dry and frizzy yet soft, because its just separating, instead of one smooth coil. Plus yeah hair is moldable.
Amanda Thompson the,until you
Amanda Thompson lol your hair is probably so short and damaged You are not supposed so wash everyday
I can’t wash my hair every day. Hell no.
@Camilla Johansson SAME
Same girl like she said it'd be way too much. To get this hair straight is a process lol
i dont do that ngl. my sister used to have natural curly hair and she washes it too much and it became straight
I wash my hair twice a week (sometimes just once if I don't need to leave the house lol) and that's already so much work for me ugh i don't know how people do it every single day
caterina farinella me⬆
SAME omg i thought i was really dirty lmao
When you have straight hair you don't have to deal with half as much, comparing to other hair types.
Nice Video! Sorry for butting in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you thought about - Millawdon Goodbye Gray Trick (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is a smashing exclusive product for learning how to reverse gray hair fast without the normal expense. Ive heard some super things about it and my old buddy Taylor finally got excellent success with it.
caterina farinella words right out of my mouth 😂

Much love!
I have super fine hair oily scalp so I wash everyday. I wish I didn't have to.
try the l'oreal clay mask for the scalp. it is amazing, it gives me a whole 24hrs of oil-free hair. also helps with dandruff.
ma plictisesc oooh I need to try, thank you!
i tried that loreal shampoo and mask and it just makes your scalp really reeally dry after some time it doesnt really help
^the shampoo is not good, the conditioner from that line is a joke but the clay mask is a god send. if it made your scalp dry maybe you don't have really oily hair to begin with.
Tamara Jevric I suppose it might require some trial and error for me. Good looking out!
Nikki B I hate the feeling of dry shampoo
Nikki I think you'd like Batiste dry shampoo for blond hair. I'm not naturally blonde but that is the only dry shampoo I've ever used that works wonders!! It's truly amazing!! ❤❤❤
OMG I was asking my husband the other day if he remembered folding paper the hotdog way or the hamburger way and he had no idea what I was talking about LOL. Its nice someone knows about that too 😂
Brittany Russell When I was a kid we folded paper that way we just didn’t call it hamburger or hot dog way.
We used hamburger and hot dog!
Totally grew up with teachers calling it the hamburger or hot dog fold
I'm half white and half black but my dad is white and he raised me he had no idea wtf to do with my hair. growing up was rough. Before entering middle school I had to chop it off and wear braids w/ hair and by then I was old enough to take care of my hair. He was at such a loss when it came to my hair. before then i would wear it half up half down in "buns" which were just twpo big knots/. So embarrassing
Used to wash my hair once every 3 days and on a wash day my boss said “you look good when your hair isn’t greasy” washed my hair everyday since
I strive to wash every 2-3 days but sometimes I fall back into washing it everyday when my routine gets messed up.
Good luck on your hair journey!!
try washing it every 4 days and putting essential oils on the scalp. also a salicylic acid shampoo might help
devsox1 yea I learned the hard way that apple cider vinegar is specifically the way to go. I tried using regular distilled white and my hair was super dry at the ends. I’m trying to get through the last of my old shampoo before I only use the castile soap. I’ve been using it on my face as a face wash for a week and love that it doesn’t absolutely strip my skin. It’s pretty cool stuff
So true , some Girls think I'm weird for not washing my hair everyday lol
I have straight hair and I wash my hair every other day. I massage my shampoo into just my scalp then I put conditioner on only the bottom half of my hair and I run my fingers through it to get out tangles. Afterwards I just let my hair air dry.
I don't wash my hair everyday but I find that my scalp gets itchy after a few days. How do you avoid that?
I have this problem too. For a while, if I did have to wash it I would use Head & Shoulders with pyrithione zinc. I found that even one wash with it would help prevent bacteria from growing and itchy scalp for a few days. Because it kind of dries out my hair, I'd be able to let it grease up for a few days longer, and eventually I switched back to a sulfate free shampoo. It works well enough for now, but every once in a while the itchiness returns if it gets too oily.
I usually wash my hair on day three cause that’s when mine starts to get itchy and oily. I’ve never found a way other than washing to avoid it.
Late but when I had a dandruff a long time ago baby shampoo did wonders for me
Your curls are so gorgeous, I hope one day you can go back natural!!
Ashlei Jones Best answer yet!
mbrobi 😋
And I have to trim often to avoid split ends.
i tried that a few times and got REALLY sick x.x
Mone Fukuhara interesting! How come its a must to wash it every day in Japan?
No, it could just be your hair texture. As long as you keep your ends trimmed and they are not split and dehydrated, if daily washing works for you then keep it up.
Mone Fukuhara u need to watch the whole video 🤣
In personal experience, the shampoo and conditioner make a difference. There are shampoos made for oily hair (just like products for oily skin, dry skin etc). I used to wash it every day and when my hairdresser said to stop. I wash it every other day, for example, I wash it on Sunday and then Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday,Monday, you see? :p hope I could help.
Boy Mom i have no idea! But when I started not washing my hair everyday, my parents were so grossed out by it hahha
i have mixed hair, egyptian/caucasian, like a 3ab curl, thick strands. i wash about every 5-10 days, depending on the weather & my schedule. my wash days look like:- finger comb with oil & let sit in a bun- no-poo wash & detangle with wide tooth comb- finish with cold water - squeeze out- t-shirt turban- finish with a little oil & air dry(let me know what you think/what i could do better. i have been told to use some shampoo to wash build-up out, but i don't have build-up b/c the oils absorb)
Miss B, What are your thoughts on silicones?
I want to know this too. I was using a sulfate-free shampoo which I thought was the best, but apparently it's full of silicones which is somehow even worse? I don't know anymore lol.
OH goodness. I didn’t even notice it until recently, but silicones were ruining my hair! I switched to a brand that doesn’t have any of that stuff in it and my hair has been healing and growing out beautifully.
pinooot-noir what brand are you using?
You can train the oil in your hair. I used to HAVE to wash every other day. Now i easy go a week. It just took sometime to train.
Didn’t work for me. I’ve worked at one for 6 months, so my hair has had plenty of time to get used to 2 or 3 shampoos a week. It still gets oily and takes on a weird shape the day after washing. If I go out in public w/o a hat, I have to wash it.
*worked at home
I have washed my hair every day for a long time. I know I should try to do it every couple of days instead but the oil is so noticeable on my bangs by the end of the day! The bun trick wouldn't work for my because of my bangs but I'm gonna try out some dry shampoo to help.
catfeet I think you need to do what's right for your hair and scalp. I know a ton of people, including myself, who never had scalp problems until they tried to copy some of the big youtubers who say they wash their hair only once a week. And I have never found dry shampoos to actually clean my scalp.
I'll keep that in mind. Thank you!
Hey if you haven't already, try washing only your bangs in the sink in between washings. And also it works to have a separate comb free of oils and conditioners for brushing and styling bangs. Worked nicely for me!
I'll try that out. Thank you~
What is your opinion about the Mason Pearson nylon and boar bristle brush? Is it worth the money? Does it actually help redistribute the oils throughout your hair?
Oh! Air dry in the summer, blow dry in the winter! 😁😁😁
Ur literally so creative with ur videos like when u made that spiral with the drawstring of ur hoodie i was shook 😂 love watching u 💕
Hair washing also goes with climate. I'm Asian and I have long, medium-fine, straight hair and when I lived in San Diego I washed my hair every 2-3 days. NEVER felt greasy (I mean, maybe on day 3) Now I live in Taipei where there's a really humid climate all the time and I have to wash my hair every 2 days, and at 1.5 days I'm feeling the grease D:
I was wondering if always wearing a ponytail is bad for hair.
It's your hair 💖
OH! I use cocoa powder between washes. I smell like a cookie 🍪 hehehe
OMFG your curls are GORGE!!!
I cowash, no sulphate or silicones CG method and diffuse dry (takes 12hrs to air dry!) on cold setting until almost dry.
MrsG87 just straight cocoa powder or do you mix it with anything else?
Yes, how do you use cocoa powder??? Like a dry shampoo or..??
You can use it straight, finger tips, kinda massage it in, or for lighter hair colors mix with a little cornstarch 😄💖
I tried the straight cornstarch but I looked like some Victorian mfer George Washington powdered wig 😂😂😂. Def mix with the cocoa.
Awesome! I had no idea it would absorb like corn starch or dry shampoo
Hi Brittney! Can you go over how to maintain your hair between washes if you sweat a lot at gym? I'm not sure if I should wash my hair more often because I sweat quite a bit during my workouts. Thanks Brittney!
mixed asian girl here, wavy hair, and i have to wash everyday. not bc its greasy but i get soo itchy and dandruffy, and yucky after 24hrs of not washing. i think its psoriasis. i wish i could go a week w/o washing bc i would hate to blow it dry, straighten/style and know itll only last for a day.
christine c tea tree oil could be the answer👍
christine c OMG I’ve been having this problem for sooo long :( I’m mixed Asian as well. I can do every other day now
are you a am or pm washer? i normally wash at night and i'll admit sometimes im so tired i just go bed and my hair is still damp. i wonder if it just overgrowth of yeast from doing that.
Baby Shampoo solved my dandruff problem? Maybe give it a shot?
My question is does going longer between washes create an environment of dandruff on the scalp? Or is it the shampooing that creates the flakes?
I'd like to know too. I wash every day and have dandruff, and I'm wondering if washing every day is the cause of it.
washing it everyday could be the cause. the scalp is stripped and overproduces oil which can cause dandruff, dandruff are clusters of oil. not washing everyday would help the scalp balance out and not produce so much oil, thus preventing those clusters a.k.a dandruff.
Product build-up causes me to wash my hair. So, it depends. But probably 2-3 times a week.
Brittney Gray great suggestion I'm going to try that!
Miss Me this is a fantastic idea to try along with the fragrance free...I'm going to work on this Thank you kindly!
Brittney Gray thank you kindly
I love using coconut oil just as you mentioned in a bun! But a few stylists told me that it isnt good for your hair? Wondering what your opinion was!
I have wavy hair. Wash once a week.Pre wash day I lather in coconut oil, sleep in it and my hair shines. :D Love you and your videos
KatieJoE I'm going to try that coconut oil trick!!!
I used to use coconut oil but I found that it is so heavy and I need to wash my hair like a million times before it comes out so I switched to sweet almond oil and is so much better!!
Just curious, when you wait that long to wash your hair, what do you do about all the sweat that is in your scalp/hair? Everyone sweats every day even if you don’t workout, you’re perspiring throughout the day.
how can you not shower without wetting your hair? do your showers only have the shower head attached from above? i am just curious because the shower heads we use can be moved so we don't even need a cap to protect the hair from water
behicana shower caps
Short girls
when i lived back home in europe i had that hose thing so i mostly washed my hair on a differnt day and time than when showering, but here in canada our apartment has the one from above so i just put my hair in a bun when i shower and tilt my head to not get it wet.
I wash my hair
Every
Single
Day
I airdry my hair, only use heat roughly 20% of the time
Yo Mama Do what works for you. 😊
Yo Mama is it going to fall?
As a trichologist, wash your hair everyday! Your wouldn’t not wash your face everyday if you wanted good skin. Same with the scalp
@@HayleyRobinsonhale girl 😑 if I wash my hair everyday I will be bald, I have 4c hair
@@theebillionairess3377 she knows nothing about that
I have 2C-3a hair (mostly big spiral curls with a few defined waves) and I wash my hair about every 4 days.
Wow your advice is actually applicable to everyone. I’m so impressed 👍 I’m Black & I really wish more hairdressers were as educated & nice as you.
That’s where I learned about over directing the hair 🙂👍
this is the absolute most helpful video i’ve seen on this website, thank you so much hun❤️
Yes thanks this was really helpful ihave same curly hair
Can you do a video on what kinds of hair brushes are best for what hair types?
If I don't wash my hair daily I just feel dirty and gross, my hair is dry but gets greasy over night really quickly, its naturally wavy.
xxmakeupgothxx gurl, same
When you said "or if you put heat on your hair" I thought you said "or if you eat all of your hair"
I was like what🤔😂
yesss to the in-depth hair texture videos!!!
Such a difference from high school days where I used to wash/blow dry/straighten my hair every day 😫
Now I wash my hair mostly Wednesdays and Sundays, and deep condition on both days.
It has to do a lot with your diet. If you're eating a lot of fat or greasy foods, that will make your hair very greasy.
Dannah Ossi try braids on day 2 and day 3 leave it down because the waves will hide the grease
That explains why my hair gets greasy after 1 week of having my hair straightened
BUT when I keep my hair natural which is curly it doesn't get greasy before 2 weeks
The sea salt formula is better for oily scalp/hair, and the coconut or argan formula is good for hair that needs super moisture.
lush has some good shampoos for oily hair and scalp
Thank you all! 😘😘😘😘
Hi Brittney should we use silicones and sulfates or no?
I have no natural oils. Dry curly hair is what I produce on a daily basis.
Oh wow your curly hair is stunning on you. How much time do you have to spend on it to get it to look like that after it's washed?
I'm Hispanic and have wavy/straight frizzy hair I wash it everyday but let it air dry I have 3 daughters my 6 yr old had extremely curly hair I wash it everyday but only condition it shampoo only 2 to 3 times a week my 12 and 11 yr old I help them wash it about twice a week because if I don't it's a tangly shit show lol but they have straight corse hair
Hey Brit, do you work on natural 4C hair types at your salon?
girl u cute as a button in the hat 😉
I'm loving this look. Makes you seem much more relatable.
I wash my hair everyday but now I'll try to wash them once a 2days or once 1,5 day
I have 2b wavy hair, and I wash it twice a week with silicone and sulfate free shampoo + conditioners. I air dry using the plop method. I also use t-shirts to dry my hair instead of towels and I find it's cut my drying time down. My hair can sometimes take HOURS to air dry.
Nice video. By the way, as a heads up Brittney, I remember the hamburger and hotdog way loool
I really hope you make that vid going in to depth about different hair types/ethnicities. I’m Mexican and
I've spend the last 2 years growing out my hair and trying to get it back to a healthy
state after so many years of hair dying and heat styling. Now my hair is very
curly however the last layer of my hair is fairly straight and a lil wavy. I
have noticed that my hair falls out SO MUCH MORE NOW and it freaks me out. I
also do tend to wash my hair too often but bc my head sweats a lot and it can
sometimes get a lil stinky depending on my stress levels but this runs in my
fam, my sister and most of my cousins are the same way. I've never tried co-washing
but I've read go things about it. What do you think about co-washes? Would it
be the same as regularly washing my hair with shampoo and conditioner or is it
a better alternative to fight the stench lol
I steam my hair every day with the shower, but I only wash it every 3 days. My hair needs that moisture!
what about dry shampoo? do you recomend it for not to wash my hair every day?
Notification squad 🐰🐰
This is a word. So nice to see someone knowledgeable about straight and curly hair. So few youtubers address both.
Do you mean apple cider vinegar? I tried that and I swear to god it made my hair smell like sweaty feet for several days.
It was years ago, I don't think I diluted it, pretty sure I poured it straight on. lol. I'll definitely dilute it next time.
Going to the gym everyday is making me wash my hair super often and it seems to get oilier sooner now. Sadness.
Anabel There's always dry shampoo :)
na, where I live is really hard to find one or it's very expensive :( I'm doom
what about trying to only use water after a workout? if the sweat is not dried yet you can just wash it off with water.
hey I might actually try that... Thanks!
Do you have any tips for styling curly hair? I've got slightly below shoulder length curls and I have no idea what to do with them x)
