I love the way your hair looks! A while back I noticed that my edges were getting thinner and I started massaging castor oil on them for a few minutes a couple times a week, and then I would leave it on a few hours, wash it off and my hair got thicker and my hair grew thicker. I love it . I use coconut oil also at least once a week and several other oils. My hair has never been better. Thank You for the tips!🙂
My mom is white & my dad is black. I have mostly "white people" hair. It's fine, silky, naturally wavy/curly. I blow dry it and then flat iron it into waves. I never see anyone with my hair type, so I really have to experiment to figure out its needs. It's super oily at the roots by day 3/4. I have found the best way to work with it is to use mostly white people products, but do a weekly black person deep conditioning treatment. Being bi racial is so confusing, haha.
Girl I'm not even mix but my hair is so thick and curly I have to mix up the "white" and "black" hair products. Plus I live in Arizona so the water here dries my hair out even more.
We have very similar hair types. Thank you so much for this video. I have fine, thick hair that barely curls. Every time I go to the salon, they're like "is this relaxed or heat damage?" Nope, my hair just really doesn't curl. I need to make it out to LA so that you can work your magic on my hair.
Could you do a video of how you trim your own hair ? If you do trim your own hair lol. Just curious. I know most stylist highly recommend going to a professional and not trimming at home, but I cannot always make my way to a salon 😔 lol
My cousins have your kind of curl! They got it from both their parents who had F) curly/thick & M) fine/wavy hair. Were predominantly (approx 60%) native american w/ our other 40%-ish background being from insanely mixed backgrounds (east asian, central asian, european... etc etc)
Thank you so much for the tips!!! I'm also a mix race and have very strange texture. My font part are pretty loose wave and back is wavy. Your hair texture are very similar to mine! I've been researching on UA-cam to find someone similar to my hair but I'm very happy that I found you!!!! I've been subscribe to your channel for a while but didn't know how your hair look like. Thank you for great tips. I just moved to Haiti but when I visit CA I will definitely love to go to your salon. Congratulations on your great success and your engagement! Lots of love!!!!!
You are so beautiful!!!! I watched all your videos and I must say with you it's either ppl like you or hate you there's no in between but I have chosen to love you 😘
Nice video Brittney. Great tips. If you want to know your hair's type (not that it really matters) avoid all heat and avoid your keratin treatments for a few months. I would like to see a demo video.
I was trimming my hair every 2 months because I loved the feel too!! My mother used to be like what's wrong with you you're trimming it too often.. Glad to know I wasn't crazy
I hear you! I take my time to straighten my hair every time I wash it, because then I can go up to 10 days with nice, clean and styled hair. When I leave it curly, the second day it's a frizzy mess. And still, they say - lucky you, you have the curly hair, you don't need to wash it and style it, you always have a hairstyle. Oh, no, no!
We probably have to same hair texture lol. I'm mixed with black and white also and my hair is thick but wavy and everyone says they can't find someone else who has my hair texture lol it's hard finding a hair salon that really understands my hair.
My doctor told me I grow hair 1/3 as fast as its supposed to grow because I have a very slow heart beat. I want really long gorgeous hair but it only grows about three inches a year even if I'm taking vitamins, using hair masks, doing the inversion method, and drinking protein shakes. Do you think you can give some advice
Omg I can't believe I'm just now finding all your videos!!! I'm biracial too! & ur hair type is like mine!!! & ive also always said I've never met someone with my hair type as well! I only get my hair colored. Love your videos
you are just so pretty and beautiful would love to see an updated hair care routine, maybe something in January for 2018 hair resolutions!!! Oh that would be great, we can all get on our 2018 healthy hair resolutions!!! would absolutely love it if you did that, looking forward to more hair lessons from you doll, thanks!!!!!!!!!
my hair-type is weird too! my dad is Egyptian (kinky curly afro-type) and my mom is Irish/Armenian (wavy caucasian hair), and I have thick-ass strands that is kind of coarse, with a 3Bish curl that's wavy on top b/c of the weight of my hair, and it frizzes with contact x_x
Your hair isn't in its natural state if you're using a Keratin treatment every 5 to 6 months. Looking at your childhood picture you provided it seemed to be more kinky coils.
I also have thin hair, but a lot of it! I thought I was the only person in the world haha! My hair dressers always look at me funny when I describe my hair to them.
My stylist doesn't like coconut oil or the like because it doesn't penetrate deeper into your hair. They just moisturize the outer layer or something? Apparently only salon treatments will do that? Regardless, I still think homemade masks are better than none.
My hair is the same. Super thick and fine. It only has wave on the Bottom. And does not hold a curl for very long. Both of my parents are white but we have Native American in our family.
I want my hair vibrant blue but they said I would have to bleach my hair out first and I have alot of hair and bleach damages it too much. I bleached my hair twice in one day and it was banana yellow at the root then bright orange and the ends were red and I HATE that my hair has red in it anyways I had backup dye in brown and put that on there with my hair wet and I told a stylist what I had done he was like WTF "are you crazy, I can't believe you have any hair left and he felt it and said and the elasticity is good" but he wouldn't lighten my hair for me after I told him that.
I think my texture is really similar to yours. It was such a pain growing up because no one knew what to do with it or refused to work on it because it was such a unique texture
i have the same hairline like yours and its annoying :/ ive seen people use eyeshadow to darken the scalp to make it appear as if you have alot of hair there.
I once knew someone who said "It's better to have dead ends than no ends." She preferred to hold on to severely damaged hair as opposed to getting a haircut. 😕
I had the maurcel hot tools 1 inch curling iron and I used it as a wand because it was too hard for me to do the whole technique I think I even forgot because I had it so long (around 3 years) one morning I was getting ready for school and it caught on fire while curling my hair, it literally just went pop! There was a few tiny flames that was only there for a few secounds pretty much in that POP! It started smoking. Sad story because I again forgot about a curling iron and couldn’t get a new one for some reason (I was in high school). I curled my hair almost everyday in high school with that curling iron. Maybe because I didn’t use it how I was suppose to. I had no damage from it “blowing up” but I will say I used on high all the time because I didn’t think anything of it but I think I had head damage as well. I also didn’t know I had naturally curly hair for 4 years because I dyed my hair blonde . Swear to god. I just thought it was frizzy and puffy. I over layered the bleach and my hair ended up to my shoulders (shorter in some parts) over the 4 years with no hair cut. Also not using heat was how I found out I curly hair and no bleach , pretty sure that part was important because even if I straighten my hair one time it’s not as curly the next time I wash.
Rurukins generally speaking, you should apply to every part except your roots. However, depending on ur scalp and ur individual hair, you can use it on ur scalp, it won't damage ur scalp but it might make ur hair oiler than normal. It really depends on ur hair type too (my friend is a 4c and she deep conditions once a week and she applies to the scalp as well because her scalp is super dry).
I have relaxed hair . Girl your hair is beautiful by the way . Anyways I have a question ... Why does my hair start breaking and shedding more when it's time for me to get a relaxer ??? That's why I haven't transitioned yet
Rasha Lancaster because you're dealing with the two textures. if you're not careful once your new growth comes out then the straight ends will be more fragile
Shay Blossom17 it's because of the line of demarcation. The spot between you're curly hair and your straight relaxed hair. It's VERY fragile and needs extra love and care. That's why I big chopped because I didn't have the patience to baby that spot and deal with taking care of two different textures on one head
That’s too funny. I do the same thing on my hairline with the L’Oreal root touchup but I buy the spray. My hair is very thin around my hairline it’s always been like that. I find the spray adds a lot of extra volume so it serves me multiple ways. Occasionally I’ll buy a deeper color of Not Your Mother’s dry shampoo. Works really well, they remind me of a texture spray you would use on dry hair. Your hair is gorgeous by the way
Dandruff is a huge problem for me. I typically wash my hair every 10 days. Sometimes sooner sometimes later depending on the conditions of my hair at a given time. Whenever I do it a the salon I get it deep conditioned. It usually takes stylists about 4 washes just to get all the dirt, sweat and oil off from my scalp. It itches so much sometimes they have to peel off the rest of the detritus with a comb. Idk what gives? I mean I'm not dirty and typically take good care of my hair. I drink lots of water and other than this particular problem I have no issues with my hair
geewhiz747 that sounds like pretty bad dermatitis. You can definitely see a doctor but I've had great results using straight jojoba. The real trick is being able to brush all the flakes out of curls... But if you part your hair while it's still pretty damp from the shower and just rub a little jojoba into the scalp it will moisturize and help life flakes. It definitely needs to be pure jojoba and no other oil because it will fully absorb into the skin and not cause a really heavy residue on your roots. I really struggled with dandruff as a teen and this is the single best technique I've found.
I had this hair straightener a LONG time ago and I can't remember the brand but I never seen another one like it. It had a reseviour (I know that is spelled wrong and I hate that, I even tried to look it up and nothing popped up) anyways you popped it off the top and filled it with water and put it back on because it was suppose to be better on your hair and I had it until it actually fell apart but I think the main reason it fell apart is because I let my son and nieces use it. Braiding your hair will make it grow, I read that somewhere and believe it because when my hair was short I would wash and braid it in little braids and sleep on it and then take it down and comb it out and put it in a ponytail and my hair was down to my ass in a few months. They say the tighter your ponytail is will make your hair grow faster because something about the blood flow to your head.
Niki Reynolds that's a good way to get traction alopecia. Braiding is a protective style because most of the hair is not exposed to environmental damage like air conditioning, sunlight, friction, etc. Protective hairstyles prevent breakage and therefore can help you retain length, but they do not affect the rate of growth. Pulling your hair back into a too-tight ponytail could CONCEIVABLY enhance blood flow, but they are also very likely to harm the root system of your hair and prevent future growth.
Discovery is (well, lol, usually(?)) good - That jamaican key and lime line has an oil in a green bottle and it's called CACTUS oil. Like, oil from cactus. It's green smells bEAUTIFL & maybe you'll get to try it sometime. Not every store will have it. I get everything you're saying and 99.9 % of the time agree with all of your tips. I would actually let you touch my hair (lol) - you know what I mean too though? It's rare.
When she said she washes her hair more when she's natural almost made me 😢 cry you don't have to wash it if the curls become disheveled just refresh it with a curly hair product or water but only when needed as adding water all the time can actually dry your hair and cause scratches on your hair strand do not wash your curly/natural hair every two days unless your gonna deep condition every two days 🙃 it doesn't really allow for your curls to become acclimated to bend in the shape it's supposed too and makes it brittle co-washing is the best way to cleanse curly/natural hair♥️
alley erwiah you're talking more about 4c hair. It's much more prone to drying and breakage because of the effect deep coils have on natural hair strength. A mixed girl with 3c can actually get away with a lot more water on her head.
can you use leave in conditioner as a deep conditioning treatment? I just bought the Shea moisture Jamaican black castor oil leave in but I don't really like the smell so I was wondering how that works...if I were to like apply it generously and then sit under the dryer or something
Leave in conditioners are usually a lot lighter than a deep conditioner. So I suggest still getting a heavy deep conditioner and using that for a treatment.
Can you please make a video about no poo. I haven't used shampoo in like eight months and now my hair doesn't get oily. So I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
i don't think that it is a good idea to leave on a conditioner/mask for as long as possible. I one time had a conditioner that made my hair fall out when i left it on for too long.
THANK YOU. My son says I go to long without washing my hair, not because of the way it looks but because he thinks it's gross. I LOVE your video's and I usually don't watch these kind of videos but my youngest son does but I do now because I LOVE your video's. I use to use biosilk and anti snap leave in and it didn't make it all greasy but now I can't afford it. Maybe you should be a shrink because I leave so many long comments and I hardly talk to most people. I keep having questions but why do hair stylist always want to cut your hair short, they do that to me. They are like "can we cut it short or shoulder length and get all excited about it" and I'm like no but one time this one lady I use to go to, I took 2 xanax's before I got there because I had a panic attack and I was so calm that I walked in and told her okay you can cut it but you better hurry before I change my mind and cutting my hair short made her happy. WHY? She gives or donates it to the kids with cancer but it has to be a certain length.
I can totally relate to you… I am of Puerto Rican descent by way of the Canary Islands which is very close to Africa. I recently did a DNA test and it showed that 14% of my DNA is from the northern African region which makes sense. I’ve never seen anyone with my texture of hair… It is similar to yours but maybe not as coarse and very fine. Hairdressers tell me that it’s naturally curly but yet it really doesn’t hold a curl… Just frizz.
I have thick, pin straight hair that I only wash once a week and I normally use dry shampoo so much on the regular but now with my new bangs dry shampoo is more than everything now! Lol
I want to ask you this, is the Keratin treatment supposed to damage your hair? I've been crying for a week now because I had to shave all my hair because it killed all of my hair and literally damaged my scalp in a horrifying way... god knows what type of keratin treatment that stupid salon lady used on it :(
Your hair is way to dead you need to CUT IIIIIIIT ✂️🎵...lol 😂 did anyone else sing that in their head while the were watching this?? Anyway..really informative video!!!
Your hair similar to one of my sister and we are Mixed race, and yes , and my sisters Face the same issue that it is wave but not the silkier like white and not dry like blaks also it is fine and has it is own shine and ppl always asks us why your hair is shine did you did something to it but it is like that, Most off ppl from est Africa (Eritrea, sudan and even Egyptian and north Africa) have similar to this texture because they Mixed with many race, thanks for your tips :)
Africans/Blacks have a huge variety of skin tones and hair textures. It is a huge continent, and people's appearances have varied by region since before Europeans colonized it. Not everything is a result of "mixed race". there are europeans with naturally frizzy hair, and some with darker, olive skin..but we wouldnt say its bc of them being mixed.
@TheBiancawonka yes European even jewish have frizy curly hair but lets state some fact if each one has there DANA test you will find no one is pure.even whites they come from different regions.
Your hair looks like mine when it was heat damaged actually. Looking at your child hood photo, your hair looks kinky but not curled almost like a wavy version of 4b hair.
It’s actually so weird how similar our hair texture actually is I always thought my texture was weird but this makes me look forward to regrow the from bleaching!
Omg shoutout to you for working for all different textures! That's a true stylist to me
I have your hair type too! My dad is black and Mom is white... I have never met anyone with my texture though!
Im gonna try ❤️
Britney, can you so an update hair care routine !!! How you style it and what products you're using !?!?!?
My mom is white & my dad is black. I have mostly "white people" hair. It's fine, silky, naturally wavy/curly. I blow dry it and then flat iron it into waves. I wonder what your hair would be like if you did a big chop and when heat/chemical free🤔
me too! Sometime I wonder if my texture would be different
It probably will be completely different
Could you do a video of how you trim your own hair ? If you do trim your own hair lol. Just curious. I know most stylist highly recommend going to a professional and not trimming at home, but I cannot always make my way to a salon 😔 lol
can you show us how you do it
for example show us how you was your hair in the shower
I watched all your videos and I must say with you it's either ppl like you or hate you there's no in between but I have chosen to love you 😘
Love this! I have to try that dark edge control stuff because I don't really like my hairline either!!!
I just can't get over your eyes... they're so beautiful!
Smart tips Brittney I am mixed to . I got big thick curly hair :-)
would you mind doing an updated trimming video. I cant afford to go get my hair done very often and it would be super helpful.
I love your videos. You are so helpful and I have learned so much. Thank you!
I hear you! I take my time to straighten my hair every time I wash it, because then I can go up to 10 days with nice, clean and styled hair. When I leave it curly, the second day it's a frizzy mess. when you style your hair curly, how do you refresh it the next day? #struggling
such a beautiful child!!!
We probably have to same hair texture lol. I'm mixed with black and white also and my hair is thick but wavy and everyone says they can't find someone else who has my hair texture lol it's hard finding a hair salon that really understands my hair.
what styling products would you recommend for curly hair (big curls/wavy) that defines them but also keeps knots at bay?
My doctor told me I grow hair 1/3 as fast as its supposed to grow because I have a very slow heart beat. I want really long gorgeous hair but it only grows about three inches a year even if I'm taking vitamins, using hair masks, doing the inversion method, and drinking protein shakes. Do you think you can give some advice
Idk if this is of any use but exercising speeds up your heart rate! So maybe that’s an idea?
Omg I can't believe I'm just now finding all your videos!!! I'm biracial too! & ur hair type is like mine!!! & ive also always said I've never met someone with my hair type as well! I only get my hair colored. Love your videos
What a beautiful baby! That picture of you with the pony tail
What do you use to hydrate your hair besides oil? Do you use a leave in?
you are just so pretty and beautiful would love to see an updated hair care routine, maybe something in January for 2018 hair resolutions!!! Oh that would be great, we can all get on our 2018 healthy hair resolutions!!! would absolutely love it if you did that, looking forward to more hair lessons from you doll, thanks!!!!!!!!!

Thanks!
Your hair isn't in its natural state if you're using a Keratin treatment every 5 to 6 months. Looking at your childhood picture you provided it seemed to be more kinky coils.

I didn't know you were biracial! Couldn't tell. Being biracial myself, I like you even more! You are gorgeous.
Is the RED 1875 Ceramic powerful enough for my thick natural hair? My hair type is a 4A

I just ordered the shampoo for dandruff ... I also get dandruff after hair coloring. Thanks for the info !

Have you tried ghd advance split end therapy?
what do you do to your hair at night? Wrap it?
yes! I can't believe I forgot to talk about this lol maybe I'll do an updated wrapping video.
+Brittney Gray I would love that. Whenever I wrap my hair it always gets thinner on one side.
Can you please make a video about no poo. I haven't used shampoo in like eight months and now my hair doesn't get oily. So I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
bad! shampoo is essential in moderation to rid the scalp of build-up
i don't think that it is a good idea to leave on a conditioner/mask for as long as possible.
My hair is greasy the day after I wash it. Plus I have smelly scalp syndrome after two days and I know im not the only one.
baby powder! put it in the night before when you go to sleep & you'll wake up with soft, voluminous, non-greasy hair.
What should I do to have thick hair ? Because mine are so thin i don't know how to style them no more
Thank you so much
Unfortunately, there's not much you can do if your hair is genetically thinner. But you can cut it to make the most of what you do have :)
I use apple cider vinegar cleanse instead of shampoo. It cleans my hair the same way. Is that okay?
I'm not sure, I've never tried this method :) but if it works for you then I'm sure it's fine :))
I have thick, pin straight hair that I only wash once a week and I normally use dry shampoo so much on the regular but now with my new bangs dry shampoo is more than everything now! Lol
I want to ask you this, is the Keratin treatment supposed to damage your hair? I've been crying for a week now because I had to shave all my hair because it killed all of my hair and literally damaged my scalp in a horrifying way... god knows what type of keratin treatment that stupid salon lady used on it :(
No that should not happen! Do you know what brand she used by chance? I'm sorry this happened to you.
Your hair is way to dead you need to CUT IIIIIIIT ✂️🎵...lol 😂 did anyone else sing that in their head while the were watching this?? Anyway..really informative video!!!
Haha I did 😂
Now I have this song in my head lol
LOL YES!
OMG YOU BEAT ME TO IT lmao I was gonna leave the exaaaaact same comment
I did😂
if i swim in the sea with my keratin treatment will it wash out faster? or change it in anyway? :)
Yes it will wash out faster especially bc it's salt water
***** Ethopia was not colonized but they were exposed to Arab even Italian and al ot of Ethiopian look different due to that mixing
@TheBiancawonka yes European even jewish have frizy curly hair but lets state some fact if each one has there DANA test you will find no one is pure.even whites they come from different regions.
and a lot of Indian who are dark skinned with silkier hair but they are not consider black and the one who have to educate him/her self is you JLTWBC
***** sweetie just am an African from Africa not an African american
I'm middle eastern and the comments I get for my wavy hair are so nice! However, as the week passes the waves fades 😩😭😂
Denman has a flatiron brush!!!!!!

you look like Ayesha Curry
Girl, you are diva! :-) I wish I would have had you in my Cosmo class :-) Be well.
She reminds me of my daughter so much teared
if I ever go to los Angeles, I 'll see you!
I had curly hair when I was young but now it is just wavy (2b) hair☹️
my hair is very similar to yours!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Your hair looks like mine when it was heat damaged actually. Looking at your child hood photo, your hair looks kinky but not curled almost like a wavy version of 4b hair.
Your hair texture is very common in Puerto Rico. Most of us are mixed.
I have never been too attached to my hair: I love cutting it. no fears...just not like a Boy look bc I don't have that fine face for that
You look gorgeous! ❤️❤️. XOXO TESHIAMONIQUE
As someone with a slight peak, I completely understand the ‘I love your hairline ‘ comment lol
Girl I have the exact same hairline as you. I feel ya.
you're a beauty
I remember when you had no edges! It's grown a lot and I think because your hair is naturally fine your hairline is naturally thin.
oh my god i have a crazy hairline to, I've got giant peaks just like my dad and people think I'm so weird for noticing other people's hairlines
It’s actually so weird how similar our hair texture actually is I always thought my texture was weird but this makes me look forward to regrow the from bleaching!
You look like Keri Hilton here OMG!
