You are an amazing artist. Your lure videos are very informative and fun to watch. Keep up the amazing work and thank you for sharing. I have been thinking of taking up lure making as a hobby. I love to fish and it is the best physical therapy for me. I have a birth defect called Spina Bifida and it comes with multiple health challenges. So fishing is a big part of my life even though I don't make it out as often as I like. Getting older does not help lol Anyway keep posting your videos. Very inspiring.
Outstanding! Chinese rice sculpture is nothing compare to your patience carving those scales! I am making my own lures so I know. Mine are very small, gliders around 1 and a half inch long. The one piece work just fine, but I can't proper balance the 2 piece gliders. Is some rule that have to be followed regarding the spots where you place the weights? That "S" movement of your trout is just crazy.Thank you!
So good to see the mold process! What an amazing lure! was there no need for weights due to the ratio you mix in the casting process? is it just the hooks that keep it upright then?
For the scales have you tried the mesh netting commonly used for airbrushing scales? You could apply it with an adhesive and not have to carve out all those scales. Amazing work!
I have tried it and dont really like how it looks personally. For me this lure making stuff is all about challenging my self not making things nesasarilly easier.

This is awesome. Maybe you could consider doing a video on how to get started with making your own baits. I am interested but have no clue where to start without looking at the tools you use and trying to look them up at the hardware store. Maybe start by considering what you think you need to spend at a minimum and use that as a budget. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to the next one.
It really depends on the orientation of the casted piece (and its shape) in the mold or the molds orientation when you pour if such a hole is nesasary. Usually its a good idea but the way i pour these its not needed.
Nice action of the bait Glueing those screw eyes in with just a little epoxy made me nervous, even though I know its gonna work. What I do is go in with a dremel mill and form a cavity bigger than the drilled hole to get a better feeling :D
i have done stress test with prototypes and there is no way i can pry them out even if i use all of my strenght and try to twist the joint with the intent of breaking it.
i use various types of hardwoods i dont have a preferred type. its impossible say how many hours it took in total but like i said in the beginning i worked on this on and off for 3 months
The separate tail fin is easier to replace if it gets damaged if its a separate piece and using resin is just faster way of making more for sale, as i also sell my lures from time to time.
If you mount the jigsaw upside down with the blade sticking up through the table, you might make your life a lot easier for future baits. It's almost like having a small bandsaw. Not quite, but almost.
Damn, that’s impressive. I can barely carve a few simple face details. What do you do with the original wood carvings on these high detail baits? You said something that stood out to me “I always try to one up myself with each build” words of wisdom for an aspiring builder, maybe one day I’ll have the patience for something like this... not likely though
hey man Last question:))) when it comes to the form cast burro, have you had any issues with water damage to the baits? the bait i"m making will not be sealed off the same way you did with an outer epoxy coating and i'm wondering any damage might occur to the bait due to water exposure like maybe bloating/swelling or even water absorbtion. Also, how does the durability/ hardness of the bait compare to mass produced hard baits like the plastic used on rapala crankbaits. Is it softer? If so is there something more comparable to mass produced baits you would recommend. Thanks!
I noticed that you didn't put any weight in the bait. do the eyelets and hooks alone ensure the balance and running of the bait? you are an artist brother! Thank you for sharing!
Hi. Great videos you make. Keep up the production of the very informative work. I make some sea trout baits like sandeels and herring. It is for coastal fishing for sea trout mostly. I'm looking for some good materials for lure making, so where do you buy the stuff ? I tried the CS2 silicone, but it is quickly worn out when you make a number of baits. I´d really like to try anew form of silicone.
