    I whittled a top water "plug" out of a tree branch...my bro bet me I couldn't catch a fish with a bait I made myself.
    First cast...a seagull swooped down and grabbed it (didn't get hooked though), dropped it...one twitch and a 4.5lb bass nailed it!
    Then I made another lure out of one of my little bros old GI Joe figures...caught some more bass.
    My biggest fish (23lb pike) was caught on a 10" strip of inner tube.
    Very nice work BTW!

      It was just a strip, cut from an old inner tube...shaped roughly like a leach. I rigged and fished it like you would a rubber worm(without a weight, just a steel leader).
      That pike was the only fish I caught with it. I saw numerous others (lg & sml mouth bass, and other pike) follow it, but only the one took it.

    • @fermiticus4034
      @fermiticus4034 6 років тому +9

      Here's a little fish story for ya, Pat.
      My older bro...not really a fisherman...was home, on leave, for a week. "Do you think it's possible, for me to catch 50 bass while I'm here"? he asked.
      I said, "for you?...no!...but there is a way I can make that happen for you!...give me an hour".
      I went back to my house (I'm just a block back from my parents and the lake). I used the old netting from around a trampoline (I had it stashed in the garage) and made a minnow seine.
      It was early summer and there were plenty of hatchlings swimming around. 3 passes with the seine, we had over 100 largemouth bass, along with a few smallmouth, bluegill, rock bass and various minnows. He was less than thrilled with his 50+ bass.

  • @howabouthetruth2157
    @howabouthetruth2157 6 років тому +6

    Great job!!! And much better than the genuine lure, because the Roman Made Mother doesn't even have a protective clear-coat. On the very first use, the hooks create nasty scratches all the way through the paint on each side from the hooks swinging back & forth as the lure swims along. Pathetic. That doesn't even happen so quickly on $8 lures. And any lure can be engineered to take a clear-coat and still arrive at the desired bouyancy/sink rate and swimming action........as you have just proven with this lure. WAY TO GO.

    • @dankfrank3262
      @dankfrank3262 6 років тому

      Howabouthetruth lol every swimbait will get hook rash, even with a thick clear coat! Name of the game, you have to scratch the pretty lures to catch fish. And I highly doubt this bait is better quality than a Roman Made, looks good but Roman has been making glides for over a decade.... I don’t buy baits because of the looks or the nice clear count. Experience and quality pays that’s why they are $450.

    • @howabouthetruth2157
      @howabouthetruth2157 6 років тому

      Frankie........Don't even try to preach to me with your BS.......I'm still a serious bass fisherman since 1969. The hook rash I am speaking of on the over-priced and over-hyped Roman Made Mother, happens IMMEDIATELY when it first hits the water. Hook rash only happens after a lure has been used a lot, on lures with A PROPERLY APPLIED clear-coat. Boy, don't you even dare try to make the STUPID false accusation that "I buy lures based on their looks"......you MORON. And WHERE ARE ALL THE PRO ANGLERS WITH THEIR "$450 LURES"??? HUH???? The pro tournament trail is TOUGH, and half the field is fishing on the wire, it could be their last tournament. If the over-priced, over-hyped Roman Made Mother was "so damned good"......you can bet the farm when hundreds of thousands of dollars is on the line every season.......they would be flocking to buy this damned lure. BULLSHIT. You can take a Savage Gear Line-through Roach and catch those same giant bass, for LESS than $30. AND WHERE'S ALL THESE "GIANT BASS CAUGHT ON THE $450 MOTHER"???.........PLEASE, SHOW US THESE FISH.......YOU CAN'T, BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT BEING CAUGHT ON THE MOTHER. ( aside from a couple ) BUT THEY ARE BEING CAUGHT ON LARGE BAITS COSTING MUCH LESS. FURTHERMORE, MOST SUCKERS WHO PAY $450 ARE AFRAID TO FISH THE DAMNED THING FOR FEAR OF LOSING OR DAMAGING IT...........THAT IS A FACT, THEY SAY SO IN COMMENTS ALL THE TIME.........JACK ASS. You idiots are being HOSED. I've got HUNDREDS of digital images AND on 35mm film of all the trophy Florida bass I catch, and I challenge ALL of you clueless chumps running your mouth to exchange images of "YOUR FISH" against images of MY FISH. CALL MY "BLUFF". I can flood your damn inbox with images of MY GIANT BASS. But every time I make this challenge to chumps like you.......they vanish.....nothing but radio silence. SOME OF MY BASS CAUGHT IN ONLY THE PAST 22 MONTHS ( as of 5 weeks ago ) ARE POSTED ON UA-cam CH: "Lunker012" ( Gerry's channel, I contributed cheap footage, digital images & written info for him to post there ) UNDER VIDEO TITLE: "Stick Marsh Bass and a Twin Troller, Part 2". I catch em on artificial lures as well as on live wild shiners that cost only $24 a dozen. Marling Baits right here on this channel.......a custom lure maker for YEARS, who just made an exact copy of the Mother on this very video WITH a clear-coat even thinks the Mother is way over-priced.
