Yessss
I’m glad to know what type of people to avoid while driving when I get my license in 4 years 😂
Without dashcams being standard on cars, all u have is a story. Because of that, u have to smash the person at fault (especially cuz insurers will increase your rate for 30 years) and insurance companies shouldn't have clauses that say ur at fault too for not trying to avoid the collision. But then again, they can't prove that without footage lol. Without a dashcam, things get overly complicated and messy. NEVER avoid, smash everyone into the VOID (even if u can hit a curb instead of a car)! A no fault system is the best, but when every car has a dashcam, it will be the worst.
Also, Audi's beaching themselves on curbs/medians seems to be a trend thats been going on for years. Worst one I saw was a driver completely missing a turn, driving over a 5 ft long curb, in a parking lot--their entire under body was on top of the curb with the back wheels in the air. You could heard metal crunching and bending with a few sparks and the car barely made it lol. It was a brand new audi RS7
@@BenLA5 It is always the best to have some paint transfer from the offending vehicle before you, maybe graze another vehicle or the curb. Sometimes trying to avoid an accident can cause an even bigger, possibly fatal, accident. Of course corrupt Insurance companies like State Farm (thankfully not in Australia) will always try to get out of fulfilling their Contract with you.
The main reason why we’re paying a fortune with ICBC because of stupid drivers like them! Please continue uploading videos. Stay safe guys!
Maybe icbc should offer rebates for people who send in these driver videos
@@usermiguelF Good luck, not a chance. The new insurance system says brain injury is considered minor injury and you get $5000 only. How is that....? Get better care and rebate, but they forgot to tell you barely get any compensation.
Incorrect, the reason you post so much for insurance in BC is because ICBC is a monopoly which means they can charge you as much as they want and provide you with as terrible of service as they want, and you cannot do saying about it.
Maybe I'm a chicken but those blind left turns are something else. I'd rather wait for the yellow/red to complete the turn than risk it.
But I rather be a chicken than an idiot who gets into an accident. Haha.
After watching a good number of these videos, I've come to the conclusion that driving anywhere at any speed in Vancouver is more dangerous than going 200 km/h on the Autobahn.
But wait. This lady cut me off and had the AUDACITY to thank me!!!!! I was so astounded...... I couldn't move for a second
😂
Great channel and uploads. I've lived in Vancouver for over forty years. The last fifteen years, being on the road a lot as part of my work, I've never seen such terrible driving that is so common in this town. But it's not just the drivers, cyclists and pedestrians have a role in this too..
Two accidents were 2 minutes from my house lol
haha look out!
Commentating is spot on brotha
Subscribed! And thumbs up!
The RR and Ferrari incidents are caused by having too much money and not enough brains to go along with that. You can't buy smarts and you can't fix stupid.
The man with an upload thanks bro appreciate it as always!
I’m a truck driver in the lower mainland and the amount of things I see man
How bad is it in the other parts?
How would you rate the driving here?
I know where you're at man. I use to a 30ft reefer down town Van. People expect YOU to back up down those tight back alleys. Not happening! Few times I almost pushed the idiots outta way. Dumb asses!
I agree, pedestrians here are just as worse as the drivers! Story time: I was driving my merry way off work in rush hour along Kingsway and a peds decided it was ok to cross at a green light 🙃🙃
3:13 - I saw the aftermath of a similar tire stealing incident myself. In my apartment parking in Toronto, I saw this car next to me with all four wheels missing, and the car was supported with bricks where the wheels were.
Jane and Finch area?
@@jessicayoung1190 That apartment in question was near Bayview/Sheppard. Not the place you'd expect to find such a theft!
My parents' mid-2000s VW Jetta has the same turn signal issue as the VW Jetta. If you tried to deactivate the turn signal, it would activate the signal in the other direction and keep flashing for a few seconds. You can work around it by holding the control on both the top and bottom and centering it, but it is frustrating when you're not used to it.
Hahaha the turn signals.
5:16 is the end of knight street into Richmond. Driver went too fast and couldn’t make the turn ended up on the median. See it lots of times.
It doesn't matter if it's a pain in the arse signaling. Were no psychics. Its safe using your blinkers, you're also letting people know where you're going.
While I do agree, I've rented a couple of BMWs a few years ago and they are a stupid design.
As for BMW ONE SIGNAL soft click is for lane change 1 blink or 3 blink.
Hard click is for turning.
Soft click the same direction to turn off.
Soft click no force
Hard click 200 Grams of weight. 1/2 pound pressure.
Only a moron would find using a turn signal difficult, or difficult to use.
I like how in 9/10 of these clips it's raining. Too real.
It's amazing how many people in Canada think all season radials are good for the winter, in Florida they may be but they were never meant for Canadian winters, use snow tires in the winter and summer tires in the summer, toss those all season radials out, or use them on your dock where they aren't so useless. Even in the province run by the old flat head ford they are illegal in the winter.
@9:00 About 25 yrs ago I did maneuver like that to avoid hitting a Cop that was Occupying 1 1/2 Lanes, in the oncoming lane a ways down was another Cop, who cranked a U-turn and and pulled me over. When he asked why I went on the Wrong Side, I told it was to avoid his Buddy. He took me to stay were I was, took my Plate A# and went to look, He came back and told me to Go
8:09 that 4 way stop during rush hour is absolute hell. Maybe one day Burnaby will realize the need for a light.
A traffic circle would be better!
@@LeftCoastStephen Even fewer people know how to use a traffic circle than a 4-way stop sign.
@@mariusvanc not everywhere. With proper design and some education, they work very well. Unfortunately the powers that be in North America seldom do either.
@@LeftCoastStephen There is zero continuing driver education post-license issue. Nor have I seen any attempts to do any. Hoping people will just pick up on how to use them by sprinkling them all over the place is a thing, perhaps, but seeing how few people can follow 2 word instructions on signs today, that have been around for decades already (ex, 4-way stop), I don't have much hope. Roundabouts are also terrible for high volume intersections where traffic mostly wants to go straight through, because of priority rules. At least with a 4-way stop, everyone gets a turn equally.
If you’ve ever been to Liverpool England in the 80’s or 90’s, you’ll know what it’s like to return to your car and find it propped up on 4 bricks. 😂
😅
Congrats on 10K subs! Be safe everyone
With negligible police presence in vancouver and students driving on their home country's license, more such videos will keep coming.
BMW should be like any other car with its single controls in Canada.
If you hit the signal indicator by accident or hit it to signal at turn you should be able to cancel the signal action by , pulling the signal forward with your finger tips and it cancel the signal action .
Don’t try to correct the signal but lifting or pulling it down as you will loose concentration on the road while panicking to stop the signal light.
Try it ✌️
I encountered a similar situation as Tan except I was able to pull an evasive maneuver to avoid any accident
Kinda scary to see that people are always taking risks, and totally ignoring the rules of the road.
3:10 that is what shotguns are for my friend.
6:39 Where's that off ramp bridge? I don't recognize that location.
I don't want to paint a certain group of people with a broad brush, but it is my understanding that there is certain people from a certain region who drive nice cars, but just don't follow the rules. Not living in Vancouver, but that's what I hear
I like the BMW turn signal. When I first got it I hated it, but after learning how it worked I like it more than the regular style
Congrats on 10K subs! Fun content
A few weeks ago I experienced almost seeing a pedestrian get hit. It was 6 in the morning on a Saturday at Joyce station. Got off the bus with a few other people and one of them decided it was a good idea to start crossing Joyce St. with only 3 seconds left. They were only half way across when the light changed and almost got hit by a person in a car heading north.
You gotta becareful crossing....
Even transit buses run people down from time to time.
Great commentating. I used to work on call at night....the way I saw people drive on 99 in the middle of the night would curl your hair.
And I’ve seen people walking on the highway lanes too. I never drive into downtown or Burnaby, too frightening.
For the Audi that was on top of the island. I believe the car came around the right curve and loss control on the wet road and skidded on top of the concrete island.
I have seen a mini stranded on a small island because she lost control in winter conditions.
🥶If it dumps snow this weekend like it’s forecasted to, then I’m sure we’ll get some more content
Weather network has failed us again
@@AndreasJukic what’s new. You can never trust the weather people.
True most people not all can't drive in snow. They think AWD means they can drive crazy and won't slide!
The worst thing I seen is people who take the left turn lane at a traffic light and just merge back to the land just to pass cars.
thank you for creating this channel
That crosswalk at 3:41 is a death trap, no one ever stops
There is now an island there so people can go part way across.
It's the abundance of 3rd world country drivers that makes Vancouver a death trap, especially for us motorcycle riders.
I'd love it if you would use your platform to encourage people who witness an accident to call ICBC and tell them you have video of an accident. This helps ICBC put blame where it belongs (like with the dark coloured SUV).
They didn't capture the plate, was to low res. Due to this it would be 50, 50. Better than the one car being blamed I guess but with side swipes icbc will just claim 50 50 because people love to apologize to your face but lie to icbc. Having 1 50 50 which wasn't my fault jacked my car insurance from 300 to 460 a month, honestly either way they'd get screwed if they filed the report.
The BMW signal thing is so true!!! I can't stand mine and I always signal but I end up hitting right signal, then left, then right again trying to stop the left signal, then off. lol It's the least user friendly signal there is! That being said I still always signal but I'm sure I confuse all the cars around me.
I'm seriously surprised how those idiots can get their driver licenses...endangering others on the road
0:53 Technically in Coquitlam but right on the border of PoCo
Actually worried about this week. I don't know which is safer: drive my own car and deal with other drivers on the road or use public transit and let the bus driver deal with other drivers on the road but spend more time on the road and around other people.
I used to bus when the snow was bad....my car could handle it but it wasn't worth the risk
BMW finally fixed that then signal thing though. They changed it in 2018 I believe ? I worked at a dealership. Was so happy to see the new models fix that issue
You know what....
I drove a new VW Jetta rental car in the states. It also had a wierd signal issue. When I signaled left and tried canceling it to normal position, it kept signaling left. Then I switched it to right and again it kept going right.
I couldn't get it to stop. As I was on the highway to my quick thinking. I decided to press the Hazard lights. Let it blink a bit and then pressed off. It worked! That didn't give a good impression of German cars for the wife.
@@stevel1475 German engineering at its finest ahah
@@HockeyGoon98The golden years were during World War 2.
Technology ahead like 30 years.
They had an anti gravity machine (UFO, The Bell). Germans were the ones who created the piston, Wankel, jet engines, nitrous for plane engines, synthetic oil, the first stealth plane (Horten 229). There is many more. They still make quality items. But their cars are not as reliable as Japanese thou. Even the tow truck driver says "Buy a Japanese car....)
@@stevel1475 reliable or not. They make some fun cars ahah!
Wow poor BMW drivers having to deal with how signaling works. XD
😅
Great video! drive safe everyone!
To Jayden: the problem with BMW controls is that they are different from most other cars. Lack of standardization is a problem when driving different cars.
When ever you think your life has no meaning, give a thought to the poor sod who installs the turn signals on BMW’s
Wow I didn't even know my BMW had turn signals.
I hate pick ups in Vancouver, they drive around like they own the road or something.
5:14 person may have panicked when they were cut off or someone swerved into them that caused them to panic swerve left onto the island and just managed to land perfectly
All I see is Skip Drivers!
Everyone needs dashcams.. So many bad drivers
10:46 omg that was so nice of you saying that 😥😥
The Jeep driver was very very lucky
What about doing an occasional Canada wide series :)
The BMW turn signal mechanism is actually a two-step process built-in in the stem. The person doesn't know that with a light push, it is for changing lane, which automatically turns off after few blinks. Harder push, it is for a full steering wheel turn. SMH.....
I've driven Minis and they also have the weird BMW signals, but you get used to them if you, you know, practice a bit...
There might be some truth in the BMW turn signal, my wife's MINI Cooper which is under BMW does the exact same thing.
i drove the bmw from my uncle yesterday and had no problems using the indicators 😅
Must be hard to remember left is left and right is right lol
Happened to me in VW Jetta.
Even worse a new car rental. Signals will not turn off. So I pressed the hazard lights on and off. That was the only way to turn it off. And I was on the highway.
Can also confirm. Did a Used Car Inspection of a 2014 328i sedan a few years back and it too had this screwy non-standard stalk behaviour.
lol bmw turn signals are easy to use. half click up is 3-5 blinks for lane change. full click is turn signal on until turn is completed or turned off
0:56 Como Lake Ave/ Westwood Street. People fly through there on hot days as well, stay safe yall
Don’t swerve to avoid. Just slam on the brakes. That’s what we’re taught at driving school.
0:37 I'm pretty sure that's the whole fender trim/flares and not a rim protector.
Yes I agree
And based on other videos I've seen where Teslas were involved in accidents, it'll probably cost north of $10k to fix that fender.
@@KuriusOranj clip it back on and it will buff out.
He's not wrong about BMW having shitty signal indicators. That being said a giant portion still suck at driving. Use your mirrors and shoulder check. Very simple.
Shows alot people really have no clue on what they are doing on our roads.
there should be a mandatory " im a retard driver" for anyone who get caught driving like this , OR take away their license forever
It's amazing how many times I know its Richmond because of car and style of driving.
what justifies the markups on the products sold by blackboxmycar? not a rant, looking for genuine answers.
To turn off the turn indicator in a BMW you push down the stick in the same direction as the turn signal and not in the opposite direction of turn signal.
Jayden is right about older generations of bmw turn signals.. they required some practice to learn since the function differently from 98% of other cars.
BMW has recently switched to a conventional design (stalk stays where you leave it) so the excuse is invalid for new BMWs 😉
Why are people in Richmond allowed to have automobiles?
I legit wonder if this guy has footage of a car accident I got in in 2017 with my Dads white 2016 lifted Ford F150. At the intersection of Johnson and Guildford. Supposedly someone in traffic got it on dashcam and ICBC ruled it 100% my fault - which to this day I don't think it was. But I would be genuinely curious to see the footage
OMG, that intersection at 8:09 always busy! why not get a traffic light???
I drive a BMW and it seems like everyone around me doesnt signal becase i drive a BMW but i signal on every lane change or turn. There were some modles 07-08 and the indicator stick was a little sticky but still a poor excuse, you just gotta get used to it like with any car
Ya I had a 2006 328i and I had no issues lol thanks for watching
I keep my BMW turn signal bright and clear, but yeah it is about the same as saying cyclists don't use a hand signal, blow stop sign without even slowing down( I mean not all drivers stop completely for a stop sign either). There will be a certain amount of them who don't use turn signal but there will be some who will accept it can't change the general idea. No signal turn isn't limited to the car but the driver.
I've driven 2 different BMWs once you use those signals you'll quickly realize how annoying they are and it's easier just to not use them.
If signals don't work, the dealer should have fixed them. It would be a safety recall.
Not using the signals can cause accidents as we are not mind readers. Signals let cars behind, sides and front know what your intentions are.
If all else fails use arm signals!
I sometimes use arm signals together with signals. Why....?
Because some people don't notice signals as they have tunnel vision.
When you stick you hand out the window they definitely see you.
@@stevel1475 you can't fix something thats made by BMW.
@@1BYEBYE1I am sure if complaints go to the BMW head office. They will have a fix for the signal issue.
Not that all seniors are bad at driving but I believe they should have a driving test every 3 years or atleast get their mental health looked at.
Money blinds safety
I believe that all people should do at least a written exam every 5 years.....if people drive on a regular basis it would be easy
Glad Vancouver, Perth, and U.S.A did not get transformed that much by g20-summit. Well, at least not like Toronto and Sydney did or has been by the g-summit.
For the car speeding towards Raymond. I believe the guy is drunk.
Ya I think so too
All these drivers seen doing something illegal should be fined and forced to pay for and attend a refresher course at a driving school. Once completed successfully they can get their license back. If a red light camera is good enough to issue someone a ticket, then these videos should be good enough to issue reckless driving fines.
It's why they invented hand signals- BMW owners. 🤣☠️
The head on with the Jeep in Coquitlam was an act of road rage there are some real d bags out there
I guarantee the black suv that caused that accident with two other cars and left the scene is my dad. He has like triple gold star insurance because he just causes accidents and seems to always leave unscathed
congrats!!! keep up the good work
the poco crash was the scariest clip
For sure!
Please tell me they caught the guy that fled the scene @1:00.
Real reason ICBC so expensive is all luxury car drivers who crash need half mill to fix there own at fault accidents and everyone else pays
BMW's turn signals, three mirrors, and brake pedals are all optional accessories, no BMW drivers will waste several grams to install them.
I'm surprised I never had an accident in this town...
You think Vancouver is bad! Try driving in Chilliwack. People have no idea what a stop sign is, or a red light. And the pedestrians, have absolutely no regard for traffic( a specially the street people).
Pretty sure the semi in the ditch by the highway, with the spilled gravel, was on Highway Through Hell recently.
Many of these bad drivers are "new Canadians" who drive the same way where they came from. Unfortunately, we all pay the price.
7:49 Next season on Highway Thru Hell.
Amazing how many of these crashes happen in Richmond. Not.
How do I upload a video to you?
Now at 5:46, THAT IS A TRUE ACCIDENT!!!
Vancouver can HAVE it’s rain, bad drivers and real estate prices.
Bruh that intersection
Actually...that BMW signal story, is accurate...in some models for some years the system was that stupid.
