A frame trap is when you attack the opponent with a move that leaves them at such a disadvantage, that there is no move they can do that will come out before your next move does. So you hit them with a move that leaves them staggering and then follow up with a other quick move, and their recovery is so long that they have no choice but to block, or try to dodge the move.
First time playing a fighting game i fram trapped cheese ch my oppenents to red in rank with victor and now getting destroyed in red cuz i didnt learn the right way lol. About to relearn a new character and start my way back from the bottom actually the right way😂😂
Yes the trap is if they choose to attack, they will get smacked. The key is to know what the quickest move is - in Tekken that’s 10 frames. A true frame trap will beat a jab.
If you’re not a teacher you could definitely be one. The way you explain things, use various examples and cues for different learning styles is really cool. Thank you lol 🙏🏾
@@humbledayz4129 I hope so bro I was watching LSV live the other night and the graphics looked good and everyone was saying good things about the game. One dude told me that is wasn’t hard to switch from MK cause of the tools this game has
I'm brand new to Tekken and your guides are really helping me transition from 2d to 3d fighters, thanks a bunch. Any tips on how you figure out what are key moves (there's 100+ moves !!) and what are less good?
Another way to look at frame traps. If lets say p1 does a frame trap move that is plus 6 Any move p2 does will get added 6 frames. So a 1 jab which is 10frames becomes 16 frames on startup. How this helps is that p1 can do a move that is 15frames or faster will beat p2 jab which is now at 16 frames instead of 10.
That’s why you review your matches or download the ghost of a match your struggling against. Then turn on command history, matter of fact you just gave me an idea for my next video 🫡🫡
I played T7 casually w friends when we all hung out but I’m actually getting into T8 and this was SO helpful. I’m stuck in yellow ranks rn cuz I can’t ever be patient or block the low spanking azu and lili’s at all can’t wait to practice and hopefully rank up now 😅
My defense is doo doo, I hope to try to learn from this video. The crazy thing is, I'm the defensive counter type. But this game is nuts, ppl do the same exact moves and I see it and know it's coming. But my reaction is somewhere else. And don't get me started on all these quick to use armor folks, be pissin me off man lol.
Is there a place to see what all the different string mixups are for different characters so we can practice this against other characters besides law?
@@LouStreets thanks bro. Appreciate that and appreciate you for making videos like this. As someone who’s new to Tekken (I’m maining Steve) I need videos like this to improve my game. ✊🏾
Im nice at tekken 8 now , haven't played since 4 ... but at 1st i didn't like rage or heat , thought it was a bail out cause just straight up combat i was winning majority of the round . Then i had to practice using law in punish training, had to learn every other player way of attacking. Now i loose because those ranker way higher than me start button mashing & joking the same move 😒 gotta learn how to stop that & im a goat there on out
Bro I’m tryna get into Tekken and I’ve been following ur content from MK bro. I’m tryna main Hwoarang but I find it hard getting into the game. Hard move sets to keep in mind, combos, where and when to apply those combos. It’s harder than mk bro…help pls lol
Good video, however you must include per character. What may work one character may not work on another. I am currently learning what you’re talking about. Not easy at all.
So am I supposed to go and train against every single dam character and learn what his moves (if I can find the one they did to me out of the hundreds of them) frame data is?
Frame or not i believe Tekken means fighting therefore to much science might be useless in the face of he ultimate passion,do not get me wrong guys but when a true teller fighter is there the he becomes the character, however this advices are good to know basis,I had matches between science vs passion and they all lost admirably, this is my experience in 20 years.
Hell ya we do!! Lol. Honestly, it's a TON of fun and will hook you unexpectedly. I have NEVER seen a training mode be so intuitive, while also incorporating such depth. It hands down blows ALL other fighting games out of the water. The amount of settings, conditions, modes, etc., that you can set up to practice, is incredible. I've been playing Tekken since I was a kid in the 90s and I remember even back then me and a friend would sit in the training mode for HOURS, just practicing combos and characters. It seemed just as fun back then, but its incomparable really when you look at EVERYTHING it offers in this modern day iteration. Tekken is truly KING of fighting games, and it owns that title DESERVEDLY. Don't knock it til you try it, friend!! Take it from all of us, that the training mode in Tekken is a SOLID gameplay choice and is an ESSENTIAL tool for those that would like to take their fighting game prowess (overall in general, not just for Tekken too) to the next level. Practice truly does make perfect, but on top of that, Training mode in Tekken 8 is like NOTHING I have ever seen or experienced before. It utilizes the SSD and next-gen hardware FLAWLESSLY. The game not only has incredible new, intuitive features, but it performs all those, and more, at such an impressive level of quality that simply does not let up 👍👍👍

This comment needs to be out there more... Or on the top. Because people just keep attacking

Im working on an idea for a video like that actually 🫡
One thing I've noticed too, the hitboxes and tracking on moves is a lot tighter than in Tekken 7. You can't throw out moves as willy nilly.
Your guides are so damn great, its refreshing honestly
Thanks my man glad to help
Just found your channel as an OG MK and SF player and theyve been a lot of help. Subscribed!

The combos in here are tough man. The animation is awesome though. Definitely got some getting used to
I’m so glad I found this videos since I’m still new to tekken 8 this is my first tekken I’ve ever played with law
Thanks for this I been losing a lot and honestly I needed this thanks man maybe my defense be a little better

I struggle so much to block slow attacks which is funny cause in every other fighting game blocking lows are so easy
Great teaching had to sub! Im yellow rank rn so its getting more difficult. Would love to see your intermediate to advanced tutorials

Thanks bro. Good vid
Should I use Lee or the character I play I don’t know any of the moves your using in the videos?
Gotta pick who you like but I’m gonna make a video about string soon
Awesome video (and I don't even play Tekken 8)
Can you set up the colors in practice mode too? If so how do you do that?
yeah you can, on player/opponent frame advantage info option, set it to simple display, that's what will make it show the colors instead of frame data

Thats not a frame trap...
That’s what I thought. I was scanning these comments for an explanation of why that worked and got nothing…do you know? 😅
It's called a high crush. The move he used can duck highs automatically
Ok yeah I remembered that was a thing a while after commenting lol thx
Yeah I expected him to do a 15 frame move after the +6 flying kick. That would’ve been a frame trap.
