- Ukrainians are told to expect another night of heavy shelling as the fifth day of the Russian invasion continues. The world has marveled at the resolve of the people, who are showing incredible bravery in the face of terrifying attacks. The invaders are meeting fierce resistance across Ukraine - their burned out vehicles abandoned by the roadside. Firepower isn’t the only weapon. Video shows tanks halted by an unarmed human tide. Members of \Ukraine’s parliament have also taken up arms.
Ukraine has some of the bravest people I've ever seen. I stand with Ukraine and my prayers go out to families affected by this as well as the people fighting.

It’s actually incredible to see politicians pick up arms and fight for their country and people. Could never imagine the politicians in the US/uk picking up arms. The quote from Troy fits this so well “Imagine a king who fights his own battles, wouldn’t that be a sight”. It really is a sight.
Fun fact the last king to fight on the frontlines with his men was the king of belgium during ww1 earning him the nickname the "soldier king"

It seems that the U.S. 2A being mentioned is in reference to why the concept of having that type of defense for citizens is wise, not just for the U.S. It sounds like they were conveying that Ukraine would have benefited had their citizens had a right to weapons such as the U.S with its 2A. Nothing was said about Ukraine actually having a current 2A of their own.

Innocent civilians?.... Russian army is trying to get to a city or place before the US or European military bases, in the moment this people grab a weapon and start shooting at the Russian soldiers, they're not Innocent civilians anymore, they're part of the army, so don't complain or cry when you get shot!

It’s not the 1930s any more. It may be downright impossible to invade any country with a unified population when reliable and cheap automatic weapons can be put in the hands of every capable or willing citizen to defend their country.
It makes me wonder why the Ukraine citizens weren’t primed to have and be proficient at using AK-47’s already, since Russia took Crimea in 2014. It would have been a good detomrant. Also, after 20 years in Afghanistan why didn’t we arm the population to defend themselves during our eventual withdrawal?
@@adamholmes1992 In terms of Afghanistan, you could buy an AK from a street vendor with little hassle. And, who exactly would be the people given the AKs? The population was not united against the indigenous Taliban. It was a mix with some switching hats as they saw necessary.
Regarding Ukraine, the US has been sending weapons for months. They aren’t showing the obviously extensive use of Javelins and other anti-armor weapons (surface-to-air man-portables as well).
The population was not ready to take up arms.
Given some further thought, the well-orchestrated media blackout on Ukrainian military movements and capabilities (remember Geraldo drawing Operation Iraqi Freedom troop movement plans in the sand for the camera? This is the total opposite), I would call invasion preparation a known unknown. For example, they were pretty damn prepared to conscript civilians as well as accommodate foreigners willing to fight for the cause. That’s a HUGE task in itself.
