The people of Ukraine are normal people like anywhere else and they are suffering the consecuences of continuous agresions and murders of civilians from Ukrainians armed forces in Donbass... All well informed people know what was going on in Ukraine since 2014 and were starting to think that Putin was a coward for abandoning the donbass civilians since Ukrainians politics never respected the Minsk agreement.
On the other hand, be sure that many Us american leaders will forever be known as "crazy and dangerous evil cowards" creating or supporting wars for their own economic interests... (How did zelensky got there with the Euromaidán ? who "helped" ?

The Ukrainian people are showing us all how incredibly brave they are; it's amazing to witness. But I would also acknowledge the Palestinian people who have fought oppression and occupation for decades and continue to do so on a daily basis. They too are defending their homes, families, children, and land.
Russia has the moral high ground. As with WWII -- when the Yankees, Brits and French sat out
the war in London delaying opening a western front so Hitler could murder more Russians --
27 million -- Russia and the Red Army defeated the Nazi's. While the US was spiriting Nazi's
out of Europe even before the concentration camps of Jewish people destined for extermination
ware liberated. So we've been down this road before and as before Russia will prevail. Maybe this
time the new Nazi's, the Americans with their WMD bioweapon ArcCov2, will be tried for crimes
of state against humanity, as well. For the literally millions murdered in more than 80 interventions since WWII, Afghanistan twice, Iraq twice, Libyan state destroyed, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, not to mention nearly every state in Latin America at one time or another, ad nauseam. I loved that Colbert showed the video of Zelensky dancing. Because here's the thing: he was a comedian, he's great at "girly" dancing, he's nice and mild-mannered. According to the toxic masculinity rules the likes of Putin and his ilk in just about every country ever adhere to, Zelensky shouldn't be considered "a real man". And yet he's proven that he can be all these things they hate (but which paint him a good guy) and *still* be more "man" than *they* will ever be according to their own rules. Talk about being a BAMF and beating them at their own game! Obviously Putin is furious. *400* *mercenaries*?! To kill one man?!

Little historical fact--the Molotv cocktail was invented in Finland during their own Russian invasion, and named after Russia's then minister of propaganda.

i just saw a clip of an elder ukrainian woman walk up in the face of a heavily armed russian soldier and tell him something like "here, put these sunflower seeds into your pockets, so something good can grow when you die here". i was, am, awestruck. i will love that unknown woman till the day i die.
My girlfriend offered me a ride earlier and I told her this. Problem was, she said the same thing to me later on in bed...

I just came across this clip 14 months after the invasion. Is is so encouraging to be reminded of those heroic moments and how the world was astounded by Ukrainian response to doom - especially now, when the world might be tiring of the battle and turning their attention elsewhere.

I'm a little disappointed they didn't mention that Ukraine's actual national anthem is also metal af. The title translates to "Ukraine is Not Yet Lost" or "Ukraine has Not Yet Perished", it begins with "Ukraine is not yet dead" and includes lines such as "our enemies will die, as the dew does in the sunshine" and "we’ll not spare either our souls or bodies to get freedom".
An interesting fact, the Polish anthem also begins with : Poland is not yet lost. At first, I thought you were wrong. wow i didn't know these anthems had similar lyrics.
