  • How to create Chalk Paint patina.
    How to create chalk paint patina. This tutorial has quite a few different techniques along the way, my inspiration was A robins egg textures and the speckling throughout the eggshell of a small bird is absolutely beautiful so I’ve tried to recreate the look over a piece of furniture, all the products I have used are Annie Sloan. So follow my journey you may take away a new technique for yourself.

Every time I’m faced with a challenge and ready to throw both my paintbrush and the piece I’m working on across the room, those same words of yours that gave me the courage the first time always come right back to my mind-“Be bold, be brave.” And then I am. That sponge is our new secret texture technique. It absolutely gave the ground work for an eggshell looking finish. I'm getting one for sure. I'm not clear on how dry the paint was between coats or before you waxed. I love how you get to squirt paint in your shop😆 but it's always tidy in there. This is another tutorial I'm saving as it applies to a project I'm working up to--my dining room set. I'll be using duck egg blue and coco wash and trying the IOD paint inlay "grisaille toile". I was considering the inlay you used on your gorgeous sideboard/buffet as I love the orange tones in it but this other is so pretty too and gives my skill/confidence level a gentle nudge rather than a shove 😆 lol. I'm going to add the 2 speckling techniques you showed as well. Once I have the paint just so should I topcoat it then use AS lacquer to set in the inlays? I think that's what you did. I'll watch that tutorial again. Thanks Jonathan this piece turned out really well. I like it lots and lots and I liked learning lots too. You have a happy day sir! OH--we would never tell Mr. M if you needed to temporarily "borrow" a product bottle. Hmmm...could be the beginning of an April Fools joke😘

    I love this, Jonathon!! Such a stunning color! I love blue-green colors! 🙂 Question...have you ever used Annie Sloan Wax on any other type of paint before? I'm curious if it feels any different using over AS Chalk Paint versus over any other type/kind of paint. I used AS Wax over DIY brand clay-based mineral paint on my antique makeup vanity and it really doesn't feel soft or buttery smooth. Is it any different using it over her chalk paint? Hope you hear from you soon! You're incredible! 🫶🏻

    • @JonathonMarcMendesPaintedLove
      @JonathonMarcMendesPaintedLove  Рік тому

      That’s a great question I probably have at some point but I cannot remember the outcome I think maybe some of the other paint brands are slightly different to chalk paint Annies paint is very absorbent and it will absorb the wax into the substrate rather than just sitting over the top that might of been why it felt different 🥴😊😊

    Well no happy accidents here :( I watched the video over and over, my piece sat up on stilts for weeks before I finally had the courage to jump in. I really took my time, used the same colors as here, sponging easy enough, blending even impressed me, ( i had to make Olive using navy and orange) but the color wash totally flopped... you know how it always looks so scary when you add a color wash all over? Now i know why.. i have to figure out what happened before I can move on. The piece is a mottled mess. The wood started to show through almost immediately.. when i offloaded the wash it stayed green and the white came through looking like an '80s sponging on a wall hahaha. I don't think this one is fixable! I wish i could send a photo, you would have a good laugh, I know my husband laughed!
