Two things I love about Jonathon: he gives SO MUCH information about what he's doing and why and his demeanor is so down to earth and accessible. LOVE THIS TABLE!
It’s absolutely gorgeous! Thank you for teaching and showing people to not be afraid of the products! People are soo scared to even use some of their supplies for fear of messing up, but really it’s all just different techniques with different outcomes. The more we use our supplies the more we’re going to learn how they work and how we can manipulate and bend them to our liking! 💗
I couldn’t agree more I think sometimes we feel a little bit nervous to make mistakes but sometimes magic happens with a mistake and there we learn so much a lot of my tutorials over the years have come from those little happy accidents and turned into Tryants I think sometimes we just have to get stuck in and go for it 😊❤️
I live in coastal Florida, the beach look is always popular here. I have never used this technique and I can’t wait to try it! Your videos are always informative! Thank you for putting in the time and effort!
Omg! This is beautiful, original and perfect for us folks in south florida… and for folks everywhere else too, of course 😊. I love that you do unique projects. It’s hard to find a furniture artist who works outside of the box (or the table 😉)
Fun technique.. Looks like ole Barnwood! Thanks for sharing. I have several of Annie’s books from years ago, I love looking at these books, esp. the pictures. need to get them out more often!
Hi ya Jonathon. ❤❤ that Technique 👍just ❤ that colour cocoa . Can’t wait for the next project 👍 have an awesome day till nxt time as I always look Forward to Seeing you
Your sweet baby modeling and I feel your loss cats are amazing friends and angels I am so sorry for your loss however she is in Heaven waiting for you! You’re such a beautiful soul and a gift! May Yahweh continue to bless you and give you peace! I am a huge fan of your art
Beautiful! Love the coastal vibe tabletop with the cocoa bottom - cocoa is one of my very favorite Annie Sloan chalk paint colors. I may paint an old chair cocoa to be friends with my newly painted rickety secretary 😊❤.
What an elegant work table! I enjoyed watching this video and seeing the interesting and quite beautiful finish. It's a nice and different technique to learn and thank you for sharing. All of your videos I've seen so far are terrific and full of inspiration. With a basement full of suuitable items to paint, I need to start thinking about how to paint them. You have loaded me with many super ideas (too many?)! Where to start?
Thank you Jonathon. Such a natural looking technique and not too difficult! I'll definitely attempt this one. You always inspire and make every project seem doable. : )
I’m trying this technique on a large armoire. Thanks for the post. I cannot wait to see you work with the IOD inlays. I own a few but haven’t had luck with them although never tried with Annie Sloan paint. 🎉❤🙋♀️👏🏼👋👍🤗♥️♥️
I’ve tried using them a couple of different ways and I’ve got to be honest I think it works the best with Annie Sloan paint I haven’t tried of the brand but I think as its product involves will learn between us a lot more
Jonathan, has anyone mentioned "Brimsley" from Netflix Queen Charlotte? He reminds me of you soft spoken and yet direct resemble each other in maybe more energetic way
Thank you so much I’m just finishing the final edit off inlay tutorial and it’s a whopper I think I’ve watched shorter movies so brace yourself for a long one 🥴😊😊
I haven’t tried it with black wax but I think it could be really good with darker colours underneath and maybe bright colours over the top could be a little bit industrial
Oh no I’m sad to hear this I’ve completed my project and I have to say it went pretty well there were a couple of things that I did felt right to do but not quite sure whether it’s right or wrong but when you see my tutorial you’ll be able to pick out that to see whether it’s something you did or didn’t do I think this product is in its infancy and I think we all have a lot to learn with it 😊❤️🙏
What a beautiful finish! Thank you for your considerable gift with paint! I'm curious how it wears. Do you have to be extra careful with what you put on it? For instance, will coffee cup rings easily mar the surface?
I think it’s pretty resilient this is my workshop table and I throw allsorts on top of it once the wax has hardened so good curing time it would be pretty good
Thank youso much for the great tutorial!!! It looks so amazing, I would hate to do any projects ontop of it that would mess it up😝 Have a little roadside find with a peeling varnish that I want to try this on. Thanks for the inspiration!!! Keep up the good work and can't wait to see what u do with those paint inlays!! ❤from Kansaa
Thank you so much and I’m wishing you the best for your project and I’m really looking forward to the inlays just finishing the edit right now and it’s a long one 😊❤️🙏
You caught my attention when you said 'French Chateau', and the Chateau Inlay is absolutely gorgeous! I love the finished project, the colours are perfect.
This is THE TEQUNIQUE I've been waiting to learn!!! Thanks to you and to Ms Sloan. I'm sooooo looking forward to give this a go. Oh, and I do have a question, how on Earth did you teach that adorable kitten to just sit there during your intro?????? It must be magic.
Hi Jonathan 👋🏼 I’m sorry if I missed it but did you seal the final (wet) white wash with clear wax or was there no need for more wax? I guess I’m asking, how durable is the final washing without wax? Afraid clear wax darkens the wash and takes away from the perfectly beachy weathered look.
That’s a great question I didn’t explain myself enough basically I’m putting all the wet paint colours into the wet paint so that they combine a mix if that makes sense. 🥴😊😊😊
Don’t know if you’ll see my comment since the video is a year old, but what effect would you get if you put the colorwash first & wiped & let dry & then put the wax??
I don’t see why not I will just give it a good base coat and leave it for a couple of days before moving on to the creative part and then if you do get a few anomalies repeat the process a couple of days later the buildup of paint would be quite interesting
That’s a great question and I think the answer is there is nothing that keeps them away from freshly painted furniture and if you’ve got a white cat like us they can get awfully multicoloured pretty quick 🥴😊😊
@@JonathonMarcMendesPaintedLove My cats are orange and white, but mostly white. I can close the door to my "studio" aka my second bedroom, but god help me if I have to use something you're not supposed to breathe. Although, I'm 76 and have never worn a mask ever for DIY, including paint stripper, muriatic acid, and knocking down horsehair plaster walls. I don't think asbestos was invented when horsehair was used. I hope. I'm not dead yet. The mask thing is relatively new. ❤️😘 Love the wet wax finish. Will probably use it for my kitchen table (not built yet), but will let the wax cure so the finish cracks. Can't wait to see your next project. The big one.

Learning something new 😊 Question: Would the same look be achieved with a liming wax?? ❤
Great question I suppose if it was over the right material a dark award you would end up with something that looks very similar 😊

You mentioned wet on wet before you did the wax. Could you tell me exactly what you mean by that, please? Thank you!

Hi Jonathon, that looks amazing.
Do you think this technique would work on laminate? 🤞

I really like it before you wiped it down. It looked more rustic.
Yes this is something that I must try again and just leave the paint to sit until it dries to find out what the outcome really is like
@@JonathonMarcMendesPaintedLove Yes, if you didn't wipe it down durability would be the question.
Arrived late, sorry!🙏
