I can never forget when he left the world. A friend in high school was born the exact day that he died.😢 He was a unique talent that will never be repeated.
He was unbelievable. I’ve been obsessed with him since I was 12. I’m 56 now. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of watching him (omg that face!!!). Or listening to him (omg that voice!!)
Check out "One Night with You" and "Trying to Get to You" from the same 1968 concert. He is sitting down for these numbers, but is able transmit the same sense of energy and connection with the audience. Elvis at this best.
He was so frightened, he'd been making films and the contract had ended, he wouldn't come out of his dressing room, he thought he'd bomb and wouldn't be good enough. Just before the filming he changed his mind and said he couldn't do it, the producer had to persuade him to come out. As you can see he had nothing to worry about, he always asked after every show and concert if he'd been good enough. A beautiful man inside and out.....
When the Beatles visited Elvis for dinner they had a sing a long where Elvis played the piano, and Elvis sang Beatles songs and they sang Elvis songs. As the Beatles were leaving John Lennon ask Elvis "when was he going to get back into music ". This made an impression on Elvis to begin to think about going back into entertaining.
Hi guys, you can really see why he was called the King of rock’n’Roll. I do really love Elvis songs, he was such a showman, each song was an event. I’m so pleased you are showing artists of yesteryear. Thank you so much for another brilliant upload 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
The audience were warned, do not reach out, stand, or rush the tiny stage. This was proved when in one slow song he was sitting actually on the stage, one girl asked very tentively if she could put her hand on his leg, he nodded, and she did. If that had been me I'd have fainted on the spot. Never be another. LONG LIVE THE KING ❤
If you you both were women, you'd see something else, he was an Adonis here, the most handsome man to walk this earth. Never be another and never forgotten. LONG LIVE THE KING ♥️
Ove the Brits appreciating Elvis! I Live in the UK but originally from Canada. Elvis was amazing and could sing rock &roll, gospel, country and the blues. React to Trying to Get to You from the same special. React to American Trilogy, Polk Salad Annie. There are so many fab songs and performances
They filmed quite a lot of different shows for this special so I think this is an outtake rather than the official release. In the main show, Heartbreak Hotel he is with a guitar.
The 68 comback special was acually 4 shows . 2 sit down shows 2 stand up shows and a musical and gospel segment. Now Elvis was acually 10 stone for much of his life . When he died he was 15 stone this happened from 75 onwards 76 he got heavy but lost some in 77.
Guys, please check out Elvis' An American Trilogy from the Rehearsal concert of the Aloha From Hawaii performance. It's BRILLIANT! Also, Elvis - Suspicious Minds from Las Vegas and Polk Salad Annie from Las Vegas.
Only a few certain singers have a voice that is INSTANTLY recognizable, he would be the LEADER in that department. If you were blind and heard his voice on the radio, seriously 100% of the people would know it was him. BTW...his estate earned more money than he ever did...by MILLIONS !!
You rightly hit on point that he was a great performer as well a singer.Brian May is on record as saying Freddie Mercury loved Elvis because he saw him as a great performer & singer and it inspired him to do something similar but to his own way & even wrote a tribute song to Elvis called A Crazy Little Thing Called Love which gave him a no1 in America.
Great review. You are realising just how BIG Elvis was and still is. Can youy please review Elvis on his TV shows in 1956 - Ed Sullivan, Dorsey Brothers, etc -a young Elvis at his absolute break through.....
Elvis had not performed on stage for years, and he was very nervous, would anyone want to come and see him. So, Colonel Parker arranged a more intimate setting with a smaller audience, Elvis was very aware that music had changed, would anyone care that he was performing live again. As it turned out Elvis shouldn't have worried.
I have been a fan of ELVIS since around 73/74. OMG where have those years gone I have watched lots of videos of ELVIS and his ‘backstory’ over the last 12 months or so - again just different times and people There were a number of documentaries aired by the BBC back in the 80’s, 90’s and which I remember watching and they aired them at the end of last year One I remember watching was in 1998 Frank Skinner - A little bit of ELVIS. I watched it again at the end of last year. SKY Arts did similar and aired the 68 special which was recorded in the June and aired on nbc in the December AWESOME After ELVIS had finished his last concert at Indianapolis 26th June as he was getting on the Lisa Marie the Colonel had set up a meeting with Todd Slaughter who ran the Official ELVIS Presley Fan Club of Great Britain and presented ELVIS with an award at the steps to the plane. Todd was probably one of a few to see ELVIS alive in public again I saw an article in the Daily Mail last autumn that Todd had put the Club up for sale I have not heard any more Do you guys know more?? 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻🎤🎤🙏🙏👍 👍 ❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
I read a story about this comeback special that Elvis was very nervous about getting back into music and so Colonel Parker arranged this small intimate setting to make Elvis comfortable since he had not performed in seven years.
Billy Idol made a music vidio in a ring like this as a tribune to Elvis. And Falco a German artist had a music video with the letters FALCO in big red light just like this comeback special had with the word ELVIS. SO many artists were influenced by the king it is crazy !!
And some segments were sit down/ unplugged, others were like this with him, a mic and backing track. There were some big pre-recorded production numbers too.
Elvis had at least 4 costume changes and performances during this ‘68 Comeback Special I believe: there was the black leather intimate performance in the square ring, the white jumpsuit performance, the red suit gospel number and the white suit If I Can Dream in recognition of MLK assassination.
The suit wasn't lined either, there are reports it had to be cut off him, but that may not be true as its on show at Graceland surrounded by glass. There also is the one from Aloha from Hawaii, which was reported to have cost $250.000 its covered in precious jewels. Guards parade around, they'd be worth a huge amount of money now. Another reactor on here went to Graceland after she fell in love with him, she sat and stared at the suit for 45 minutes till a guard came and told her to move on..... Keep up the good work, keeping Elvis alive....

Back then , interaction with the audience was still possible . Elvis had this thing at his Vegas performances where he would walk out into the audience at the end and give them( women) a kiss or a hug .He would also give out scarfs he was wearing to a female audience member. Nowadays there's so much security around superstar performers ,no fans would be able to come within 5 feet of them
It's very true he had a close connection with his audiences, but the famous walk through the audience by Elvis in Vegas was not a regular part of his performances. It was a special spontaneous thing Elvis did during filming of "That's the Way It Is."
Enjoy you guys so much. It’s nice to have some British guys because most of them I see are Americans and I’m an American. So, I like to see people from other countries react. Plus you guys have an authentic reaction and sense of humor . 😊😮❤❤
