    Today, it’s exactly 47 years since this amazing artist left us. What a unique voice. He could transition from a soft lower baritone vocal range up to a gritty tenor vocal in seconds, & he does it so smoothly …. & it’s a hard thing to do, with the majority of singers who attempt it, have a broken vocal sound in doing so. Elvis has always made the difficult things look so easy, because for him they are effortless. He was voted to be The Best Entertainer of the 20th Century, & that is a well deserved title. He is in five Halls of Fame. And he was a Humanitarian. Elvis was a very special man & we were blessed to have him, even though it was only for 23 years, but what a 23 years they were! He packed so much into that somewhat brief career, & he is still so greatly loved & missed.

    The man you asked “who is that” with the black guitar is Charlie Hodge. A friend of Elvis’ who was a gospel singer and had met Elvis when he was starting out. They met up again in the Army and Elvis wanted Charlie to sing with him. He was in the band for every show until Elvis died. The rest of the musicians were Elvis band from his beginning early days, before he was drafted into the Army in 1958.

    Elvis was is and always will be the best! You said look at his confidence, and actuality he was a nervous wreck and did not want to go on stage. He was always nervous to go on stage. But to hear him look at him watch him you would never know it.

    Elvis was so much better than non-Elvis fans will ever know.
    His talent was exceptional. He was dirt poor and lived in an era without TV. He didn`t even have a record player. All most people had was a radio. In this day and age, young people can watch and listen to great artists repeatedly, study them, and learn from them.
    In Elvis`s time, people had very, very limited access to study celebrities and their skills.
    Back then, most of the famous artists were "Wunderkinder".
    To come from a poor background and have such a sophisticated style of clothing as he had from the very start is simply magnificent. When he was in the army and visited Paris, he was dressed and looked like someone who grew up in a rich family.
    For me, he will always be the GOAT!
    Thank you for your great reaction :)

    Thanks to Jamie for this amazing video!
    The guy you asked for was Charlie Hodge ( musician), maybe Elvis' best friend. They met in the army 1958 and never lost contakt. When Elvis' mother died during that time, Elvis was devastated. Charlie always tried to cheer him up with his great humour and Elvis appreciated that.

    There was something about Elvis that seemed somehow supernatural. Not in a woo-woo sense, but it had to do with the fact that he radiated (that's the most accurately descriptive term I can think of) a charismatic essence that was so strong it was practically palpable. I felt it when I was 12 years old. Something about him just reached out and grabbed me on some inner level and never let go. (By the way, I like your vibe. I sub'd.)

    I discovered Elvis when I was 13, a couple of years before he passed, and I've been a fan ever since. I love me some Elvis.
    And you're right; it's never too late to discover a new-to-you legend. Mike Handley, Emmy Award-winning TV/radio spokesman and film narrator, said:
    "When healthy and serious, he was flat-out the world's greatest singer. In his voice, he possessed the most beautiful musical instrument, and the genius to play that instrument perfectly; he could jump from octave to countless other octaves with such agility without voice crack, simultaneously sing a duet with his own overtones, rein in an always-lurking atomic explosion to so effortlessly fondle, and release, the most delicate chimes of pathos.
    "Yet, those who haven't been open (or had the chance) to explore some of Presley's most brilliant work - the almost esoteric ballads and semi-classical recordings - have cheated themselves out of one of the most beautiful gifts to fall out of the sky in a lifetime.
    "Fortunately, this magnificent musical instrument reached its perfection around 1960, the same time the recording industry finally achieved sound reproduction rivaling that of today. So, it's never too late to explore and cherish a well-preserved miracle, as a simple trip to the record store will truly produce unparalleled chills and thrills, for the rest of your life; and then you'll finally understand the best reason this guy never goes away."

    I was only 8 years old when this concert took place. THIS is my favorite Elvis. He went back to his roots here and that was the Elvis I fell in love with. To me, he looked his best here. That perfect profile & his smouldering eyes...my Lord! I had him plastered on my bedroom wall as a teenager and I remember exactly where I was the day he died. He was my mom's era but it was me who's heart he captured. My mom was into country music. I always gravitated to all the greats in any era & any genre. Elvis appealed to me because his roots were in blues & gospel and you can see that in this 68 Comeback concert. Must listen to Lawdy Miss Clawdy from this concert & you'll see what I mean. No one comes close to this man's God given charisma!

If you havent yet, please check out his gospel music.. its so powerful and full of emotion.. a lot of his life performances show so much of his personality, he had a wonderful sense of humor and his love for his fans shone through brightly.

      @bwana-ma-coo-bah425 5 місяців тому

      And there it is. You just made my day. Now here comes the baffling question. Lets see if you can answer it. Tell me Prozak63. A few black artists that met Elvis. Do they speak of their own individual experiences, or, do they speak for the black community? You can start your reply with the insults towards me if you like, I did 2 years in Vietnam 69-71, the most dangerous time, so your insults towards me are like water off a ducks back, one day when you grow up and they will stop and learn to attack the issue and not the person, perhaps that is a trait you should teach your children if you have any that is.

    • @elvis78ale
      @elvis78ale 5 місяців тому +3

      @@bwana-ma-coo-bah425 I always wonder why you are so bitter in your comments about that documentary/video. It is just the title of it 😂😂 Obviously it contains only testimonies of black people who knew Elvis and had relationship with him . For so many years silly people spread the info that Elvis was a racist, without any reason. That video shows the opposite. You have to complain to who chose the title, not to the people who suggest to watch it 😒

    • @bwana-ma-coo-bah425
      @bwana-ma-coo-bah425 5 місяців тому

      @@elvis78ale Firstly thank you for trolling both me and my comments. Now, lets get down to business. Black artists did NOT! have relationships with Elvis, they only met him a few times. Between 1954 and 1968 no black artist took the stage with Elvis. So here is your chance to offer up the Astrodome incident. Tread carefully if you want to go down that path. Who are these people that said Elvis was a racist? Name them. I have discussed it with the makers of the video. When I brought it to their attention. They disappeared. Just like so many Elvis fans when I challenge them. And I am guessing you will too. Tell me, why is it that when a black reactor reacts to Elvis, there will always be a mention to watch the said video, yet when it is a white reactor, this is never mentioned? What is it Elvis fans are trying to justify to the black people of today that the black people back then did not know?

    • @elvis78ale
      @elvis78ale 5 місяців тому +2

      @@bwana-ma-coo-bah425 the simple fact that you can't have a civil conversation makes me understand that it's not worth continuing. Nobody is "trolling" you. You always write the same comment under many videos, saying a simple obviousness.."the people in that video don't represent the whole black community". Really?? We are not stupid to believe the opposite. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Many black people MET or HAD relationships with Elvis...and when you meet a person you are able to judge how he is behaving towards you. It is not necessary to have "sung on stage" with Elvis. This is not the point. The rumor about him being a racist originated from an old newspaper that reported something never happened...that Elvis had said "The only thing Black people can do is buy my records and shine my shoes". A complete falsity. Quincy Jones was one of those who always stated that Elvis was a racist and many in the black community always grew up with this conviction, just because of this "gossip" that passed down along with the usual accusation of stealing black music. This is the reason why that documentary is useful, for white and black people...to dispel this myth, which for years has tarnished his memory unnecessarily.
      Elvis grew up in the mostly black neighbourhood of Tupelo, spent time with black people when he was young, loved black music and worked with many black artists. You can like him or not...but he deserves to be remembered as he really was. Have a nice day.

    • @bwana-ma-coo-bah425
      @bwana-ma-coo-bah425 5 місяців тому

      @@elvis78ale My conversations are civil. It is people like you that take offence because I have come along with information Elvis fans don't want the world to know. Well do the people in the video represent the black community or not? yes or no? Name 10 black artist that had a relationship with Elvis? All you have done is name one person that allegedly said Elvis was a racist. Name these black artists he worked with. This should be an interesting read. You want me to remember Elvis for being a drug abuser, a guy who had a platform to speak about racial equality and who was controlled? Elvis spent some time in the black areas, he did not grow up there. Would you like to discuss the time about what he did to a girl after the condom broke one night?

    I've watched so many of these Elvis reaction videos and each time I do, I share that when I was 14 my parents took me to see Elvis in one of his very last concerts. Even then, he was spectacular. It's wholly impossible to adequately describe the feeling in that auditorium. As the opening music began to play, it felt as if the air was sucked out of that place, and he suddenly appeared on stage. And when he sang his last song, I knew we'd never see him again. Just two months later, he was gone. It's great to see and hear people reacting to his music and his incredible personality. Back when he was still with us, and even after, critics were very cruel about his style. In fact, they were convinced that he wasn't that good and that his vocal range wasn't impressive. Today, vocal coaches say exactly the opposite and recognize that his range was quite impressive.

    Some called this his comeback. He had served in the army in Germany then came home. So he hadn’t performed for maybe a few years. They set up this small stage with a few girls for an intimate setting to reintroduce him to his fans. He was so young.😊

    2 of my favorite songs Elvis sings is "Sweet Caroline" and "Make the World go Away". I'd be very happy if you would do a reaction to each one. Thanks🙂

    I’m 58 & know a lot of musicians & for me the most electrifying stage presence along with perfect vocals are Elvis, Michael Jackson & Freddy Mercury! Nobody touches them! 🥰🥰🥰
