3:59 It has that meaning in Britain too. It's a double entendre, poking fun at how language has changed over the years, just like the way the words "gay" and "queer" are used in this sketch.

One of my favourite actresses, Carmen Mendonca. She’s been in loads of tv series.

I always liked the counter skit when you see a car for sale, '1 lady owner'. Meaning, it's never been out of 1st gear, even on m -ways cos thats where she hangs her handbag. Gulp!

"Perhaps you can entrap him with your complexion," says everything we need to know about the ridiculousness of "beauty" marketing since the birth of advertising.

If this was a new series put out today, the bullshit that would follow in the press would be, well sadly, predictable. I enjoy your reactions, Megan. All the best.

You chose a couple of the best Cholmondley-Warners here my dear, but they're all good. I love that she's called 'Cecily', somehow perfectly quaint. Near my home there used to be a large, sprawling scrapmetal yard, with wrecked cars piled on top of each other. We liked to call it the 'Ladies Driving School', much to my wife's chagrin (She was an excellent driver, btw). My chauvinist FIL loved it though.

If you like Harry & Paul.
Check out there, DJs Smashie & Nicey.
They're probably one of their most popular characters.
They made quite a few sketches with them.

This is so obviously comedy to us in the UK,but maybe not to hyper religious communities, for example in Afghanistan or the American Mid West
Its good to mock their medieval level misogyny.
    Really enjoyed this
Da iawn ti ( well done you, in the Welsh language).

“Spunky” relates to semen, sperm. They also use the terms “gay” and “queer” interchangeably which was normal for the times. I’d be surprised if anyone took this as more than a severe parody.

Yeah, it was typical of men in 1930s to behave like this.😂 I am an old man from England and remember lots of men. Only clubs and old boys like this.😅

See I do not like the rewriting of history and the praise people have for terrorists such as the Suffragettes. Focus is given on the women and yet people forget working class men didn't get to vote, wealthy women got to vote before them, it was merely a class thing. So a lot of these sketches have my eyes rolling.... HOWEVER! My mum was the driver in our house as a kid cause she did rally as a hobby and was great. The one person you didn't want to drive was her partner when I was a kid, he was terrible.
